Emile himself actually. I admit I didn't watch it when he was uploading it because it didn't really interest me, I'd never heard of the game and I didn't give it a chance... but now I'm on episode 60 of his letsplay and enthralled.
After having found out my college had not received my transcript and having to drive to my highschool to yell at them for not sending it because "you need to use your middle initial not your middle name where it says middle". Then taking my transcript to my college myself for a 3 hour drive there then another 3 back. I get back and see I got home at four twelvish and was happy to remember that you would be uploading your video. Got a big burst of happiness after all that anger and frustration.
If only that sign could actually be taken as confirmation to the sequel. However, that sign isn't confirming anything for us, only for the in-game universe...

It has sequel.. Mother 3 was released a decade ago, just not in States. Mother 3 development issues were relate to fiasco of N64DD, and involvement of creators in different project. Shigesato Itoi work for HAL even during production of Earthbound, when Ape under new name Creatures work as designers on obscure at that time small Gameboy franchise known as Poket Monster, and basically stay there as co-developers.
Chuggaa, I know you love pointing out translation differences between the two games, but you never pointed out that Threed is actually Threek in Japan.

While some NPCs look like Iwata(😭), does the drunk NPCs (example: 6:04) look like the president of Nintendo of Europe, Satoru Shibata..! Kind of fitting given Europe was left out from getting the game for so long..!

And I'm still not expecting it anytime soon. Since the Switch apparently won't have a Virtual Console for the foreseeable future, Mother 3 would have to be completely remade from the ground up to have any hope for a localization at this point. It sucks, but sometimes that be how it do.

@@TheRezro Actually, and unfortunately, yes. Nintendo has been shutting down ROM sites that have their old games, including Mother 3. Don't know if it applies to fan translations though, but if it does, that means we probably won't see a real Mother 3 localization from them - or it could mean that we will see one, we don't know.
@@hudde814 But they totally have right to do so, as ROM's are illegal. Concept of abandon ware apply only to software what is as name suggest.. abandon. Though law protraction don't apply to translations as mods are legal, so until that exactly is the case, then your argument is void.
@@TheRezro Yeah you are right, ROMs and even to an extent emulators *are* illegal, it just sucks that Nintendo is doing this, and this is coming from someone who loves Nintendo a bunch. But it doesn't mean that I can look past their flaws, there's a reason why people are losing faith in them (need I remind you of the Wii U, or Virtual Boy). They aren't perfect, and there's certainly room for improvement, but I'll still love Nintendo.

We all know the real reason why Emile re-recorded this without the Chicken noises is because it brought up bad memories of MP3’s Fowl Play with Jon and Tim. Also don’t think I didn’t notice that change from “Four Side Quests” to “Fourside Quests”. 1:06 Thinking about it, it’s interesting seeing Fourside at night in Melee seeing how it’s never shown that way in Earthbound. 2:22 First flavor change of the LP. 5:44 Interesting detail about Fourside: it’s the only place in the game where the buildings face the ordinal directions instead of the usual cardinal ones. Well, I say the only place, but that’s technically inaccurate... 6:43 From the conversations we can already kinda tell what kind of a guy Monotolli’s like. The way he runs the town ins a lot more subtle than street gangs, Zombies, or Cultists. Pretty much anyone who hasn’t been on his receiving end love the man and what he’s done for the city, but his victims know the truth. Monotolli is ruling with the power of money. Not something we’ve seen before in this game. Also interestingly, the entrance to the Monotolli Building is the only one in Fourside facing a cardinal direction. Again, saying only one, but... 7:26 Foreshadowing! 8:23 Jeff’s truant dude. To a common adult, that’s nothing to be proud of. 9:02 Seriously? I’ve never noticed. People have been avoiding him since word got out that he moonlights as a glitchy circus tent corner... 12:09 I guess Emile didn’t learn from his time in Belch’s Base... Wait...is that really it? I was just guessing (and inaccurately said that it couldn’t be because the Cracked Bat is a single instance item, which it’s not). 14:06 That’s not really it. The police are supposed to be there to uphold the law. This includes arresting corrupt individuals like Monotolli, but if the police force itself is corrupt, well... 15:55 We saw it with the Magic Butterfly earlier. Not the same effect, but we at least know what you’re trying to show. According to my sources, the Melee interpretation of Fourside is referencing Moonside with its nightly look, as Moonside uses darker colours compared to Fourside.

I just finished the game in the SNES Classic Edition. I’m still feeling all the emotions in my body that the ending left me. This game is more than that: a game. Is an experience to be lived, to be felt. I’m very happy to have played it. Now I understand why everybody talks the way they do about it. So much love put in this game: the characters, the music, the story... I’m telling you, I’m 35 and having played this game at my age has a whole different meaning if I had played it earlier in my life. I wanted to share this immediately so I can put in words all my thoughts that just emerged. Thank you for reading it.

Fourside's music has helped me calm down when I've been at my worst in recent years. As Chuggaa's mentioned, it is a place and piece of music that provides respite in more ways than one.
Thank you so much for pointing that out at the end of the video. I am honestly surprised rarely anyone brings this up when talking about a worldwide release of Mother 3.
Ah I remember when I first heard the music of Fourside in Melee as well. Even though I had no idea what series it was from, the music was undeniably catchy! And now that I've heard how it was originally composed, this really makes me appreciate how unique yet beautiful this game's OST is!

Yet another one of my favourite parts in the game. Also I'm gonna keep saying this as the hotel awakening music sounds like part of the Itchy and Scratchy show theme. When I got here i was hyped as hell. Thanks Emile for inspiring me to play one of the best RPGs of the SNES.
Sometimes I feel old, what with almost being through college and doing adult things and stuff, and then I remember games like Earthbound are older than I am and that helps me get my perspective back.
Just got back to this video and got to the point where he talks about how many days it's been since EarthBound 2/3 has been confirmed in the game and did the math myself today in the year 2020! So by now it's been *25 years* since the release of EarthBound, so 25 years times 365 days; and because it's 2020 that means that we've had yet another leap year since 2020 is divisible by 4, and that's the "easiest" way to figure out if a year is a leap year, that would mean that we've had *7 leap years* since then so I add those in; and finally we count the days after June 5th for the final calculations, which he generously provided in the video for me, somewhat; today is August 10th right now so we add the 25 extra days of June, 31 days of July, and finally 10 days of August; that means right now it has been *9,198 days since EarthBound 2/3 has been confirmed!*
14:31 In the bottom right corner, you can see a magic butterfly fluttering over the ocean. Not as funny as a common enemy walking on water but it is an example of the slight error Chugga wanted to show. Not a bad consolation prize, looks pretty neat a butterfly flying over the ocean.
I had the same feeling the first time I landed in Fourside. This big city opens up after crossing the desert and there's so much to explore. I love it!... What I don't love is that Earthbound 2 sign and knowing a sequel featuring Ness and his friends was never followed up on. That SUCKS.
When you talked about the feeling of hearing the Fourside theme in-game for the first time, it reminded me of the first time I played Pokémon Black and White. My story is very similar, but with the opposite mood. I had already heard a certain song in Pokémon music compilations that I like to listen to while doing homework. If you've played BW, you'll probably figure it out. When I heard the song play at the end of the game, I was so caught off guard. I can remember the feeling of shock, sadness, even horror, coursing through every fiber of my being. I can remember whispering, "No…no, no, no, not now! Not after everything that just happened!" I was already stressed almost to the point of tears from the battle immediately before, and this was too much to handle. I basically spent the whole credits crying. I would have cried louder if it wasn't late at night and I didn't have to worry about walking anyone up.
Funny comments on enemies encountered Annoying Reveler: He's upset because he got kicked out of every bars in Fourside. Extra Cranky Lady: Nag, nag, nag! Gahh!! It never ends!
Aw man, its Fourside. I have the fondest of memories of playing the game, getting that fatigue like "Okay, I think I've had enough for this session.", then that Fourside music kicks in and revitaizes me almost completely. Work every time.
Sort of unrelated to the video, but have you heard of an anime called Mob Psycho 100? It has a lot of similarity to Earthbound in terms of the humor, having charming/over the top characters & the way it tells stories. I recommend checking it out & feel like you would really like it :)
Natasha Jones In terms of plot definitely not, but I feel like there's some similarity with the characters and the overall feel of the series. It just has tons of charm and heart and I thought it was worth recommending for that.
Watched a bit of it. I heard that there was a live-action series out on Netflix featuring toku actors like Tatsuomi Hamada (Ultraman Geed) playing Mob and Lock Dealer Sid of Kamen Rider Gaim playing Reigen.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that 2000 was NOT a leap year, due to scientific reasons. I think the reasons go something like this: it takes 364.26 days for the earth to make one full rotation around the sun, so to accommodate for the fact that 1 day is missed every 4 years, we have a leap year, except for when the leap year is a multiple of 100, to accommodate for that remaining .01 days. SCIENCE!

Normally years divisible by 100 aren't leap years, but the exception to that rule is if the year is divisible by 400 it will still be a leap year. So 1600, 2000, 2400, 2800, etc. have 29 days in February to account for the fractional rounding (a solar year averages to about 365.2425 days).

Most Japanese companies screw us out of things, Bamco being a brilliant example, we missed alot of Tales games because of them and Digimon.

Fourside`s theme always stays with me, it's the one I always remember ,soon as I hear it I instantly start singing along.
I just finished the game in the SNES Classic Edition. I’m still feeling all the emotions in my body that the ending left me. This game is more than that: a game. Is an experience to be lived, to be felt. I’m very happy to have played it. Now I understand why everybody talks the way they do about it. So much love put in this game: the characters, the music, the story... I’m telling you, I’m 35 and having played this game at my age has a whole different meaning if I had played it earlier in my life. I wanted to share this immediately so I can put in words all my thoughts that just emerged. Thank you for reading it.

Ah I remember when I first heard the music of Fourside in Melee as well. Even though I had no idea what series it was from, the music was undeniably catchy! And now that I've heard how it was originally composed, this really makes me appreciate how unique yet beautiful this game's OST is!

Sometimes I feel old, what with almost being through college and doing adult things and stuff, and then I remember games like Earthbound are older than I am and that helps me get my perspective back.
Just got back to this video and got to the point where he talks about how many days it's been since EarthBound 2/3 has been confirmed in the game and did the math myself today in the year 2020! So by now it's been *25 years* since the release of EarthBound, so 25 years times 365 days; and because it's 2020 that means that we've had yet another leap year since 2020 is divisible by 4, and that's the "easiest" way to figure out if a year is a leap year, that would mean that we've had *7 leap years* since then so I add those in; and finally we count the days after June 5th for the final calculations, which he generously provided in the video for me, somewhat; today is August 10th right now so we add the 25 extra days of June, 31 days of July, and finally 10 days of August; that means right now it has been *9,198 days since EarthBound 2/3 has been confirmed!*

I had the same feeling the first time I landed in Fourside. This big city opens up after crossing the desert and there's so much to explore. I love it!...
What I don't love is that Earthbound 2 sign and knowing a sequel featuring Ness and his friends was never followed up on. That SUCKS.
When you talked about the feeling of hearing the Fourside theme in-game for the first time, it reminded me of the first time I played Pokémon Black and White. My story is very similar, but with the opposite mood.
I had already heard a certain song in Pokémon music compilations that I like to listen to while doing homework. If you've played BW, you'll probably figure it out. When I heard the song play at the end of the game, I was so caught off guard. I can remember the feeling of shock, sadness, even horror, coursing through every fiber of my being. I can remember whispering, "No…no, no, no, not now! Not after everything that just happened!" I was already stressed almost to the point of tears from the battle immediately before, and this was too much to handle. I basically spent the whole credits crying. I would have cried louder if it wasn't late at night and I didn't have to worry about walking anyone up.

Aw man, its Fourside. I have the fondest of memories of playing the game, getting that fatigue like "Okay, I think I've had enough for this session.", then that Fourside music kicks in and revitaizes me almost completely. Work every time.
Sort of unrelated to the video, but have you heard of an anime called Mob Psycho 100? It has a lot of similarity to Earthbound in terms of the humor, having charming/over the top characters & the way it tells stories. I recommend checking it out & feel like you would really like it :)

Actually, I'm pretty sure that 2000 was NOT a leap year, due to scientific reasons. I think the reasons go something like this: it takes 364.26 days for the earth to make one full rotation around the sun, so to accommodate for the fact that 1 day is missed every 4 years, we have a leap year, except for when the leap year is a multiple of 100, to accommodate for that remaining .01 days. SCIENCE!

Normally years divisible by 100 aren't leap years, but the exception to that rule is if the year is divisible by 400 it will still be a leap year. So 1600, 2000, 2400, 2800, etc. have 29 days in February to account for the fractional rounding (a solar year averages to about 365.2425 days).
apparently it's that every year with multiple of 4 is a leap year unless it's a multiple of 100 *UNLESS* it's a multiple of 400 so we lose 3 days every 400 years seems legit
If it's a century that has the first two digits of the year divisible by four then it's still a leap year (so 18 no, 19 no, 20 yes)
This was literally the second problem of Y2K, if the computers would recognise it as a leap year.
