Hey guys, thanks a lot for dropping down from the mother ship to lay that cool tune on us, very pro and nice! Regards, The '62 Mathew St. 1-Man Band (Total Retro Rock)
Had I seen this performance on TV in 1964 I would've been scornful of the costumes, the synchronized movements, and the music itself. By 1980, however, I would've been enthralled and favorably impressed - as I am today, in the 21st century.
Well nowI am a retired Boomer and I get tired of recycled popular culture unless there is somebody or something i haven't scene . Well this Spotnick clip is another clip that I am glad was posted. Of Course there were a lot instrumental bands back then toting their Strats or Mosrites doing instrumentals that basically California Surf Culture had spawned , but to see this stuff I have never seen, it doesn't have to be original , just good !
The melody may be a little silly, but these guys are really very good players. The bass line and the drums are top notch, and the guitar riffs are crystal-clear. Enjoyable!
We know that Duane Eddy is the forerunner of the modern guitar in the 60s style, but these 4 guys are not joking! Bo Winberg (lead guitar), Bob Lander (rhythm guitar), Björn Thelin (bass guitar) and Derek Skinner (drums). ua-cam.com/video/CICHZeyikGk/v-deo.html *💚 KARELIA 💚* Guitar cover by *The 💘Spotnicks*
1964 ...when the rest of the Dutch teenagers listened to the Rolling Stones, this looked like an older student gathering. Not to the detriment of The Spotnicks, they were a good Tornados type instrumental band , but by '64 they were somewhat old hat .
Just listened to 'Apache' by The Shadows, and yep. In a sense these boys worked for the man with the cigar too, though. Being a musician is tough. ua-cam.com/video/7TwULx_wDiI/v-deo.htmlsi=0mdUTMDWuOhPTmIo
The lead singer of Devo saw these guys and said,"I know what I want to do with the rest of my life".
i was feeling that same sentiment .....

Masters of the Universe. Some of the best guitar pickers around.
The first album that I bought was The Spotnicks in London. Then The Beatles happened!
Being of that generation and a musician, this stuff is priceless.
SUPER, a fantastic rockin´tune !!!
R n R will never die....
That mosh pit was brutal
It's an interesting cross between rock, country and polka, but for some strange reason, it works. I like it.
RIP Bo Winberg!
yes indeed and RIP Bob Lander
Premier titre que je jouais aussi bien qu'eux ,j'avais 15 ans.puis tous leurs titres, que de souvenirs (bons.belle époque).
I need one of those outfits. Trick or treat!!!
Spotnicks best band in the Milky Way 🌌
Watching the crowd dance must be what it's like observing electrons with a valence of -i. 😂

For everyone who's complaining about their dance moves, just have a look at the original music video.
Bill Wyman's bass line steamrolls!
all shadow style....well it worked, and made them money ! good for them ! better than working for the man with the cigar ! that was my lot in life....
Just listened to 'Apache' by The Shadows, and yep. In a sense these boys worked for the man with the cigar too, though. Being a musician is tough.

Sounds like country music ta me actually.
Bill Nelson was there? Would have COOL way!
They sure loved them Fenders back in the 60's.
Fenders are still loved today!
Bo Winberg invented that guitar tone by experimenting and building his own guitar amplifiers.
Coldplay's concert comes to mind.
Were they doing a subdued version of "The Time Warp?
hello friends
snazzy guitar work.
Short version! Where are the amps?
They all played through a sound system, a 30" woofer and a 6*10" cab. All built by the guitarist Bo Winberg.
The amps are under the stage.

I never Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear was their lead guitarist.
Guitarist looks a little like Hugh Cornwell from The Stranglers
Is that strat plugged in even?
The cords are visible if you look closely
I really don’t know whether to call their music “Surf”music or not.
I mean, it’s typical Fender Strat reverb stuff. Idk. 🤷🏼♂️
How can a strat sound like a Mandolin?
Roy Clarke meets Hank Marvin.
