Being in my early-ish 70s with a good memory and a watcher of TV at the time, I can say that I have absolutely no memory of this. I guess I was either unlucky or they didn't make it to British TV.
Sadly, the lead guitar player of the Jokers, Mr. Ronny Sigo passed away last week. Great guitar player. To bad they never really got the recognition they desrved. One of Belgium's best bands from the 60's. Also check out their more experimental work from the later 60's called Spider 8. Psych Rock.
I am 62 yrs old and my parents were always playing cool music like this. There was always a stack of albums or 45s on the record player. I don't remember The Jokers but I definitely recognize this song. I have recently learned about The Mustangs. Great memories of great music. I have this stuff playing on my Alexa in my garage. Love it. I live in a small 55 and up community and when neighbors stop by they enjoy listening. There's not much music I don't love. Greetings from Canada.
Coolio. We're living in a world that has never experienced anything. I just broke out my old hula hoop and kids started throwing rocks at me. Maybe because I was naked. I'm not sure.
One of my most favorite songs & genres. I grew up with my Dad playing The Ventures & such. And he was in a local band when I was very small :) Thank you for this TREASURE!
Even more amazing are the invisible ghost backing vocals or the four musicians singing without a microphone. That´s real talent. I wonder where those guitar cables hanging from their guitars are going to.....
What a knockout. Never heard of the Jokers before, but now, they will become a part of my musical world. Mucho thanx SamSamMusic for hipping me to this pleasant surprise~~~~Rock on
I know this song from an old album named "Taboo" by Alfred Apaca. I haven't heard it since I was a child...I loved it so much and this is such a great song done by these guys.
That spacey echoed guitar part (similar at times to Syd Barrett's use of echoplex) is ahead of its time, and I really like the drop D guitar part near the end.
Obviously they are miming to their recording. None of them are shown doing the background vocals that is heard. The drummer is playing both cymbals almost entirely through the tune when bongos are heard as well. The very low notes heard on the guitar would be only viable on a six string bass such as a Fender Bass VI or a Danelectro Baratone. Those very low notes are not able to be produced on a Jazzmaster guitar as the lead guitarist is shown playing. What they are doing was very common in the sixties when almost all artists when performing on TV played and/or if singing would be involved, would then do lip syncing to their studio recordings. All that aside, it is a nice instrumental with a somewhat haunting melancholy sound to it. Clearly “The Shadows” sound were a big influence of which a lot of English and European bands were fond of in the sixties.Thank you for posting.
It's amazing how many Shadows influenced bands there are in the World and that's no bad thing. Long live the guitar. Just heard that Bo Winberg of The Spotniks died yesterday aged 80 RIP.
Okay this is now my new favorite old song! Spectacular. This song is cooler than James Bond in an Arctic Ice Bar. That was only 3 minutes?? They suspended & expanded time. Felt like over 30 minutes of exquisite pleasure in my brain.
Rust zacht Ronny.
I love how the bands on shows back then "hand" synced to the track and usually just bobbed along and had fun with it. even as a little kid I knew you had to be hooked up but is was cool as we got to hear the cleaner recorded version. great stuff
Freaky, in a Twilight Zone kinda freaky way. The LSD the lead guitar was taking finally kicked in. Zounds and zowie! 🙀🛸 Thank you Sam Sam Music. Thank you Jokers. No really, thank you. Es war eine Reise.
These marvelous instrumentals from that era are just a time capsule. You are there and back then as soon as the song begins. Some really cool guitar stuff too. Not sure if I really heard anyone do that. Maybe?

Just love this simple tune of the sixties.
I love the way the rhythm guitar provides a great backdrop.
Just heard them on the radio in 2024!! Wow!!!
Fantastic. That drummer is on the good stuff.
This song has grown on me in leaps and bounds since I added it to a playlist. Best thing besides football to come out of Belgium yet!
And Duvel.
Mysterious, dreamy and exotic. Love it
I so LOVE the swoony vibe of those vintage Fender Jazzmaster guitars . I won't part with my 1961 that I bought cheap in 1976 and are still in style .

ARTHUR LYMON
Quite ethereal. Evokes outer space for me. Floating on the dark side of the moon.
That spacey echoed guitar part (similar at times to Syd Barrett's use of echoplex) is ahead of its time, and I really like the drop D guitar part near the end.
awesome!
Man, that guy on cymbals!!!!
Mix of exotica and surf music. i like it.
Mostalgie. Was 17 jaar denk. Nog altijd prachtig.
The whole band is playing something new for the time and place! But I gotta say that bass man is something else!!!
SUPER
Excellent
excellent use of the whammy bar by the lead guitarist to create unique sounds!

Cool, these guys were great. Especially that one guy doing some proto-Jeff Beck moves on the fretboard.

Very spacey!! Love the low tuned baritone guitar.
chuckroast101 Yes. Sexy.
2 fender jazzmasters and a p bass
@@Bill-wb5jv Yes, in the video, but the recording definitely sounds like a baritone guitar of some type.

while being the most famous anything from Belgium might be considered faint praise these guys were great, classic
Beautiful music!!!
399 people disliked by accident. thats clearly what happened. This band was on another level.
you can't stop the change
They hit dislike when they recognized Lee Harvey Oswald on drums.
Love those Fender Jazz Master guitars ! 🎸
Great Performance
fantastica
I was thinking how little excitement these guys exuded when that guitar freakout happened.
I wondered if Jimmy Page was aware of this music.
Freaky, in a Twilight Zone kinda freaky way. The LSD the lead guitar was taking finally kicked in. Zounds and zowie! 🙀🛸
