    I love these bags and disconnect system. Not challenging if you're a wrencher. My only complaint is how they "flap" when going over bumps. They look like they're loose and ready to fall off! Wish there was some supports available to prevent this.

      Thank you for that comment. I just got a set and I'm looking at them. Seems like only having 2 mounting points is a problem. They are very well built, but I can have these flopping around back there. It would drive me nuts. Sending them back.

    I appreciate the video. The directions were pretty minimalist.

    Extra tip- wear rubber gloves when drilling, the fibers are itchy and annoying.

    My questions are can we use the Harley docking hardware for the sissybar and add the Viking docking as well or I can’t have my sissybar with this Viking quick disconnects?

    • @VikingBagsYT
      @VikingBagsYT  7 місяців тому

      No, the QDS is meant for saddlebags and wouldn't be compatible with your sissy bar. You wouldn't be able to put both the QDS and sissy bars on at the same time since the turn signals would need to be relocated and both parts have their mounting points occupying the same space.

    Would be nice if he worked on 1 case the whole time and not flip between the two... Once he drilled the holes on the 1st case, why not just copy them over to the other case before installing the bracket to the saddlebag? I ask because I am returning home tomorrow and I will be installing mine. Also, can we install the small bolts with the nut on the outside of the bag to avoid hand scraping when we go into the bag?

      thats exactly what Viking shows on how to install permanent saddle bag brackets so yeah it should work fine, also thats what I did when I bought throw over bags and a pair of universal quick disconnect brackets and it worked great on my Yamaha Raider. But I will probably get a new pair of Viking bags and their Raider Quick disconnect brackets because my old bags are starting to crack where the bolt is pulling through the bags
      You may want to add on the inside of the bags a large thin piece of metal to act as a huge washer to add area so the nut/bolt doesn't try to bust through the bags like mine are doing. I will use a metal strap that is used in construction to connect to 4x4 posts called a "Simpson Strap" it is about 4"x8"x1/4" and I will cut it in half and drill a hole in it so I have a huge 4"x4"x1/4" "washer" to stop that from happening again.

      @@RossMalagarie Thanks for that info on the Simpson strap, that's a good idea. And sorry for the late reply, I didn't have time to install my bags last season due to a fractured collarbone accident... no install and no riding! lol

    Can I use this on a boulevard m109? Want a quick detach setup for longer trips. Could I still have a sissy bar on there for wifey?

    If the bags are already drilled to be mounted without the quick disconnect system; Can you still use the QDS with those holes or do they need to plugged up?

    • @VikingBagsYT
      @VikingBagsYT  4 місяці тому

      If the pre-drilled holes do not line up with the pegs of the QDS, you may need to block them off or drill new holes into the bags.

    If the bags are already drilled to be mounted without the quick disconnect system, is there a recommended way to either reuse or plug up the holes already made on the bags?

    • @VikingBagsYT
      @VikingBagsYT  11 місяців тому

      If you want to just cover the holes, it is recommended that you use a hot glue gun to plug up the holes and ensure water protection. However, if you plan to reuse, it is best to use Epoxy glue.

    I really do like cooking bags, BUT... I got a set for my rebel 500, I really do feel they send the wrong bags for my bike if I want to use a passenger seat and be able to use the owner for pegs. So I must use these bags backwards and they look fine. They also don't come with any spacers that are needed even if I hook them up the way they intended and only come with half the fender bolts needed, they come with 2 80mm bolts that can be used and 2 50 mm fender bolts that can't be used at all. I ended up spending about a hundred dollars on bolts on Amazon and when complete I still am going to lose the shock cutout that I'm not going to use because I'm going to hook up backwards so I can still have a passenger foot rest. I haven't drilled any holes yet, and would love to trade these in for a set without the shock cut out so I can have that space
