A major point to address is to make sure the bolts once through the fender , do not interfere with the tire. The bolts that are sent with the kit are for a universal fit. Even with the shorter bolts they could be too long for your application.
Got bags suggested for the rebel 500 and all bolts were way too long. Ended up having to cut them down. To make tracing the holes from one back to the other easier, I ended up removing the lid. All in all, took about 4 hours to figure out what was going on with the provided parts and modify the hardware to fit the bike that it was supposed to fit. The bags look good and hopefully they function well. Fingers crossed
What kind of warranty is given if the installation fails due to poor instructions? Why do I need to damage a product to install it? If a saddle bag is meant to fit a certain bike, why do I need to make measurements and then drill into it? Why am I doing part of YOUR job?
Obviously it's to keep costs down. If they had to drill holes in different places for each motorcycle model it would significantly increase the cost of the bags. I'm cool with doing some quick and easy measurements to save $100+.
@@JW-bw8nj If you read the warranty, it only allows returns or whatever if undamaged. Guess what happens if a customer screws up the measurements? You can't return the bags. And I doubt it would increase cost by $100 to make a few holes. Especially when some already exist. Why can't they make a few more?
unfortunately we just got our hard bags for our 2018 speedmaster and there are 2 diff size bolts on the fender mount - T40 and T50 and viking isn't paying attention enough to this slight detail to include the 2 diff size bolts that are required - causing us to now have to go to the hardware store for hardware we shouldn't have to be purchasing after the sale!
we are constantly trying to improve our products, let us apologize for not able to provide specific bolts. Please be kind enough to email us the correct colt sizing and we will be adding this to our bags from next time.
@@VikingBagsYT thanks for the quick reply back and the bolt sizes are T40 and T50. we know you guys can't know every bolt for every bike but since there's no longer an exact saddlebag match for the speedsters from 2018 and newer this should've been an obvious catch by now!
Im just annoyed my bags already have 4 pre-made holes that will be plugged and I still have to drill 4 additional holes to orientate to my specific bike. Why not just blank back? I searched for my specific bike from the website and ordered from a page showing the bag for a specific bike. if its universal part why ship out with pre-made holes that are for another specific motorcycle

Can you install the mounts at an angle? On my vtx 1300 in order to install on my extra large bags I bought it makes the bags look ridiculous on the bike if installing them vertically
If you wish to mount both these saddlebags and a sissy bar at the same time, you may need longer mounting brackets than the ones we provide to ensure there is enough clearance for the mounting brackets for your saddlebags and the cutouts at the bottom of the sissy bar.
I am looking to purchase a sissy bar and these hard case saddlebags for my 2008 dyna fat bob from you guys. Can you help me in sourcing the correct hardware, brackets etc? Thanks!
When he puts long top bolts through the bag they stay there. Why don't they slide back out and drop in the bag? Is he using something to keep them in place? I wish I had two more arms.😎
It may not have been shown in the video, but the combination of all the hardware, including the bolts, washer, spool, and bracket helps keep the bags firmly in place.
@@VikingBagsYT I called you today regarding what mounting kit is included in the yamaha stryker 1300/pantheon medium bags kit. The person on the phone said this kit includes the coffin style mounting brackets. Because everyone has different exhausts on their bikes. Some will need the bags to site a lot higher than others. Also everyone has different preferences on where they want their bags to sit. It literally takes 10 mins to set them where you personally want them mark the holes and drill.
This is just one type of installation. Tell us your bike model and year, we have quick attach/detach solutions for people who don’t want to drill holes onto the bag
the mounting hardware rods are simply too long to make work on a Honda Rebel 500, you cant raise the bags high enough to not interfere with the brake caliper or hit the muffler, need shorter length rods
Why do you still make bags with 1990's "make it fit yourself" installs when every other bag manufacturer has a direct bolt on model specific bag? Lame.
Every other company requires you have the stock exhaust too or they don’t guarantee fitment. Everyone has different exhausts which will require different height mounting. Also personal preference where you want your bags to sit. It literally takes 10 mins to mark and drill.
@@BossMan302 just got some bags that have a row of pre-made holes as a throw over bag, not what I wanted anyway. They include grommets to plug those holes but they take up space where I have to work around. Why not just have a blank bag without pre-made holes?

Forgot to tell you I Love these bags.
Quality brooding teenage vibes.
Also the marks don’t transfer worth a damn if you use the saddle bags that open towards the bike.
The video is a little confusing about the washers, he didnt install the washers on the outside of the bag, but at the end of the video there there.
That was simple mistake from our side, you can install the bags without the washers but it is recommended to have them.
@vikingbags Would suggest using a little silicone on the inside between the washer's and bag to prevent water leaks when in rain?

Make a cardboard template.
Making a cardboard outline of the saddlebags helps make installation easier for you?
Yes. It helps to make a template of the right bag (dual rs exhaust) to help with marking the bags level and for final drill hole markings .
The rs cardboard template is then used for the left bag installation .
