I beg to differ. Jimny doesn't have an image problem. It's failure to capture the Indian market is solely due to insanely high pricing. Mr.Shashank Srivastava and his marketing team should accept their failure n resign. First they looted the genuine Jimny lovers like me n now they r offering huge discounts to lure those who do not understand Jimny and it's character. Bunch of idiots!!

I am the third buyer of jimny in chandigarh, got delivered in june 2023.... I knew that the pricing is at least on 2 lakh higher side whereas suzuki admins were reasoning as premium product.... Now I feel I was cheated when Jimny is offered at 3.5 Lakhs discount.... on the other hand when I bought Thar, I was delivered at the booking day price which was comparatively 1 Lakh cheaper than the Current Price... and I felt obliged......
Why this big discount... any serious issue exists.
Bring down the price of the top model to 12 to 12.5 lakhs on road...then it will definitely sale great.

I have got the Jimhy recently. In Shima, Himachal Pradesh, it costed 11.6 Lakh on road for Alpha Manual trim. For enthusiasts, this car offers everything. Its good on performance - light weight, narrow, robust 4x4 gearbox. Also, the build quality is way better than other Maruti Suzuki cars. This is a proven product. ONLY ISSUE WAS THE PRICING. IT SHOULD NOT BE PLACED 11L ex showroom for Alpha Manual. Pricing is the only issue. This vehicle is a breed apart.
We wanted 5 door thar and 3 door Jimmy. And they launched the reversed
3 door Jinmy would have been best matched
Only one reason - Maruti Suzuki's GREED.
Simple reason - It's pricing is flawed. Yeh price me to aaur bhi aacha options hai market me with better features. Size is not the problem here. Actually Jimny s better suited for offroading, especially when roads are narrower. It's size is a game changer when it comes to parking. Jimny has better mileage in comparison to Thar. But at the end price is an important factor for Jimny's performance. In comparison it's predecessor Gypsy was a popular car in its segment. Because of the pricing of the car.
Jimmy looks vitamin deficient when compared to Thar.
And muscle deficient 😊

Though comparing the Jimny with the Thar is absurd, technically, SIMILAR PRICING but naturally would bring up a comparison.
Maruti could have easily introduced the 3 door a few years ago when they set up the assembly line for exporting it. At 9.5 L on the road, it would have found reasonable acceptance. The 5 door should have been priced at the current discounted price and it would have seen better numbers - probably a steady 1000 units a month.
Something those clever ( greedy ) marketing honchos at MSIL can learn from M&M
1) Give people options. Don’t be dictatorial - Only the 5 door angel of the Indian market !!
2) Be brave to offer all variants possible. 3 door and 5 door and sensibly space them price wise.
3) Talk less, do more.
The Jimny - a great little 4wd. Poorly handled by the Maruti marketing team, sadly.
Fact - Maruti could never think of offering the Gypsy with a passenger side rear view mirror in it’s 35 year production run nor could it improve the flimsy tailgate hinge support in 3 decades ! Just a disenchanted bunch not fit for selling 4wds !
Jimny should have body coloured bumpers. It will enhance the looks much more.
'Small Size but High Price' is only reason, not its charactor.
Make it 300 mm wider and about 400 mm taller ,this will change its look.

Underpowered/oversized, definitely overpriced, definitely comfortless.
MS hit above their weight with Jimny against Thar.
What will work is 3-door, 12 lakh top variant.
Depends on where and how you are using this vehicle. Returned after a grueling expedition to Lahul-Spiti. The Jimny was a true mountain goat, agile, light and versatile. Thar a direct light from Jeep's Rubicon is a good vehicle better suited for black top roads in my opinion.

But, 5-door version lost in both urban and off-road markets. Why? The engine is not upto the mark for added weight and balance dynamics, you can feel it if you've driven the 3-door version.
They should've given the 3-door option too.

Huge discounts of upto 4 lakhs (with financing) made it sell 4000 units in July.
4x4 car is only for enthusiast, so numbers of 4*4 suv wont be seen like city or road oreinted car.
Jimny is a great reliable vehicle. Jimny has lot of demand all over the world including developed countries. I dont know why India as a poor country has problem with Jimny. Not too long ago Indians were driving Ambassadors, now suddenly Indians have become picky? lol. I mean, the way some Indians are calling it a "small toy" as if they are citizens of some oil rich country shiekhs.
It’s a niche product
This new model gypsy/jimny came in too late. People were expecting its arrival long long ago. They should have replaced the gypsy with it long ago. By now it would have had a cult following. The glitter is gone cause everyone knows that it is an old vehicle coming in as a "new" flimsy(compared to others) 4x4 lifestyle product at an exorbitant price point.
Thats exactly how a good people's mover Chevrolet tavera was killed too. No upgrades and milking it to the last breath.
Bring three door jimny.
One major reason is the late launch. India launched this thing almost a decade later after it's launch in international market. 80% of the offroad enthusiasts at least around the place i live have gone for thar including myself. We were all waiting for this but it took forever and before it was even launched me and my company were saying that the sell of this car will flop hard because of it's late release and that's happening exactly
It is a different breed and should be used as a lifestyle vehicle where it is suitable in the indian roads for normal use and off road too!
The pricing and marketing failed
All said and done we Indians look for few basic amenities if you could call them, like bottle holders, here I mean water, so chill. And if we don't have a spare wheel it's cool, but, we do need a mobile holder an armrest ...to pick a few..next the seating.. rear seat 2 they need to stretch that to a comfortable 3.. The brash interior quality is of no practical use so can be ignored but please give the Indian driver the least we expect... Do these small changes and your numbers will grow

Too expensive for nothing… Jimny was supposed to takeover the great Gypsy and everyone expected the price to be within the range of Gypsy… much below 10L. Jimny will be off-road soon.
Base model 9 lakhs and top model within 12 lakhs will definitely skyrocket the sale.
The head of Suzuki India who dresses like he's auditioning for the next top-gun movie during the launch, compared it to a G-Wagon, hence the chrome grill decision. Then decided to up the price because of it. The real issue is not the image of the car, it's the out-of-touch CEO who almost sunk the product by over-pricing it due to greed, while the product itself was a bare-bones offering (See engine, gearbox, interior). The forced lowering of the price by Suzuki due to a -35% Y sales decline shows how out of touch they were, and the CEO should look for a job in Hollywood.

Because it is too small, if it is bigger it could have sold but it looks like mini thar.
Looks like a jacked up hatchback & I believe it's underpowered. Off roading cred might be all good but 99% of ppl who aspire to off road - never do.

Failure of Jimmy is due to UA-cam influencers sales technique that's why Maruti raised the price
Even That 4x4 is failure in terms of road running, most of them are parked after 1-2 Leh trip
Now these so called Auto influencers will push 5 door for 1 year waiting period and high price so again a loss to customer.
Customer need 4x4 car within 10-12 lac range till then sell old buy new , sell new buy fresh............so on
BTW few UA-camrs sitting in small room and driving bike , gives tips on what a Ladder Frame Chassis is capable of.

This is a TERRIBLE video. He talks about the Capabilities of the Jimny, but says nothing about the Capability of the Thar. No. He focuses only on the LOOK of the Thar.
The Thar can do pretty much what the Jimny does, and has a better engine and a better gearbox.
The 5 door Thar is even better!

Lots of people are purchasing mods to enhance the acceleration of the car since the 1.5L petrol engine is anemic and has to be driven hard to eke out power from the engine.
Now I know some will say, Jimny is an off-road vehicle, it doesn't need it's engine to have good acceleration or power but to those people I'll say, just look at the sales chart.
There are other issues as well like - Suzuki being over greedy and pricing the Jimny very ambitiously and also the fact that it doesn't have the road presence like the Thar and oh so many more other reasons.
M-S should had relaunched the Samurai as Gypsy Classic at this price bracket against the Thar, instead of this little pony...
