notice how the female face in the trailer isn't rendered "realistically"...the face is actually rendered like an oil painting...but with movement. it looks great btw.
While the 2D aspect certainly has its limitations, I reckon they did enough to compensate with ground elevation and LOS mechanics. Some fortunately placed dunes and good positioning can really turn the tides of a battle.
I would play deserts of kharak first, it gives you much more of an idea of what's going on. Really, the only flaw in the HW series is that the story writing is a bit too out of nowhere, there's not much setup, and sometimes details and names just get thrown out there with no explanation
Good god, I've missed this series. Now make a sequel ASAP, I want space dammit. I really wish they'd consider making an RPG or an FP space shooter set in the same universe. The lore is begging for it.
Id rather they left it.this game while i feel doesnt live up to the originals really brought it forward to a new era and wrapped the story up nicely. Id rather it retire gracefully and not be forced like 343 and halo or EA with command and conquer
@@paulhester1675 Too late! Homeworld 3 is coming! To be honest, Deserts of Kharak is my favourite compared to other homeworld installments. I think something could be learned here from other RTS games, it's unique experience.
BB is new IP so I have no comment. :) What's your definition of recent? Colonial Marines and Duke are the big culprits. Buying franchise rights and reinventing them hasn't turned out well.
+Brackynews from what i have seem the game seems pretty decent 12 mission campaign same as homeworld 2 story is a prequel of stuff we basically already knew so not much room to fuckup lore ai seems a bit crappy but not alot of rts have good ai. the cutscenes are fucking amazing. and it seems to be about 30 bucks on steam so not bad price.
How about actually playing the game before making a comment like that...a C%C it sure as hell isnt. This game is a masterpiece and no other RTS feels the same.
@@jaydenshepard7928 Holy crap you are late to the party. That comment was 5 years ago and i played the game and the ones of the series before and many other RTS you probably never played and this is really just a C&C copy.
@@ColdieHU Yeah just saw this was 5 years old lol, I definitely disagree, not every RTS with large armies that takes place on the ground is a C&C clone lol, it has a ton of features and mechanics that are unique, and the attention to detail with the sheer amount of unit radio chatter and stuff is unmatched by any other game, even the other Homeworld games. Plus theres no base building or anything, and theres all the carrier mechanics. All of these things are more than enough to disqualify it from being lazily called a “C&C clone” lmao
@@ColdieHU This game doesnt feel like C&C apart from the post-apocalyptic settings and this is coming from someone that's played every relevant rts since 2003.

That effect was introduced to me with Windows' Moviemaker long ago.
where are the giant worms?

Homeworld with Ground Control: How could this go any wrong?
Pity GC-like games are no longer fashionable...
Yes. It didn't.

Never followed the series but hell the art is very striking that I might give a look into.
@Storm Muller indeed

To be honest, I enjoy this game more than the space setting of Homeworld funnily. Especially the multiplayer.
Yeah, plus "giant supercarrier on tank treads" is a much cooler concept
Me too!
master piece !!!! dune ur move
A GameSpot video without an annoying 30 second ad? Fuck the world might really be ending.
Get an adblock.
a good trailer can sell a game to a fool. i am that fool. lucky its a great game.

Anyone have any idea where I can find the song used in this trailer?
Still dunno

they should put homeworld cataclysm ost - raiders of the arc for this trailer :p
The game art is impressive
Underrated game
That guy in the white hood and gas mask sounds like Darth Vader tho...
half vader half bane

Just makes me wonder what makes this game not just another familiar rts.
Yeah that sounded like Darth Vader....
Dear Gearbox, please don't fuck up this latest franchise you bought.
What have they fucked up recently. the last borderlands wasn't that great but battleborn fucking sucks. I was in the beta.

wait wasnt kharak destroyed in homeworld 2?
that was in in HW 1, and this is the prequel to HW 1.
oh ok thanks
you mean homeworld 1. First of all, this is before they found the Khar-Toba reck, explaining why they don't know what the object is.
Hey gamespot
Another Dune?
Not a bad game, aside from the AI.
+ShinRyuuken Well thats not fair considering Halo Wars, Red Alert 3, and Empire Earth are the only RTS's with good AI
+Heartless hmm, I think the Blizzard games sport pretty decent AI.
LobsterOfDeath Ehh, I felt like the original Starcraft's AI was too crazy
***** In campaign yes, but in skirmish it shows some strength, if I recall correctly.
LobsterOfDeath Maybe you're right, I haven't played it in a long time but I think I should give it a revisit.
Only five MP maps lol
One map works ok for DOTA. ;)
Am I a Kidnow or am I a Squidnow?
+SeriousFox who the fuck cares about MP homeworld is all about that sweet single player tool ass idiot

ight
dune ripped this game off? lol
