Every time I do a Q&A I get loads of people who ask me how I get so many things done and how to juggle creativity with full time work or school. For most of us who want to do creative things that don't necessarily earn money (or at least that don't earn money straight away), we have to learn how to juggle work and productive creativity 🌼 Burn out is an enormous issue with so many people; I've struggled with it a lot as many of you guys would know from watching my videos and seeing me talk about it. This video is for everyone who has having to work a job and/or go through school, whist trying to carve out the headspace to be creative as well. Take care everyone and hope you like the video 💛
i dont doubt myself. I dont doubt my skills, I also dont doubt how unfathomably tired i feel after working 630 am to 4pm while getting yelled at by customers on the phone all day. I just wish i had the energy for ME and my art after work
when i practice piano, there comes a point where, even after ive practiced a few measures perfectly again and again, i start messing up. thats when i say “ok time to step away from the piano.” I’ve never timed myself in practice sessions. i just learned to pick up on the natural stopping point. my point is, productivity also depends on learning yourself. if timing yourself is best, do it! but it’s not always for everyone. it takes time to learn your natural schedule and also disciplining yourself. thanks for this video!
Setting realistic expectations hits me hard. I have a crochet UA-cam channel , I saw other people I follow post videos every other day and enormous growth in their followers. I have a full time job, have to study a foreign language , while posting videos and I can’t do that . I feel bad especially when people with hectic day jobs (for example healthcare workers) post everyday; I feel like I m failing at what I do. After a bit of burnout, I decided to post one video a week and enjoy the process of creation, rather than comparing myself to others.
This was such a sensitive video :) like anyone trying to balance YT and a full-time job I've definitely struggled a lot with working too hard and then getting sick! Which feels kinda silly when you're just starting out, but totally happens! I really liked both your point about how in the early days it's not realistic to have huge output, and also your tip on blocking tasks together to get in flow. I definitely pick up pace on things when I've been working on them for a longer time but hadn't thought about explicitly planning like this, so thank you! 😊
I was literally just binge watching these videos and then saw this one just uploading- THANK YOU!! I've been struggling so much with balancing my full time job with UA-cam/Instagram and "me time." I'm keen to hear your tips 💕
Oh my goodness, this is exactly the video I Need! I started a UA-cam channel this year but have Really been struggling to make time for it around my job. I end up feeling overwhelmed/burnt out and then my creativity doesn't flow.. I am going to watch this video right away! 💖💖💖
thank you so much for this video!! especially your denouncement of toxic productivity. I appreciated hearing about how you have to adapt to your life. I am a relatively new UA-camr and I really fell into the trap of feeling I should upload more than once a week and it was really hard to make a recent decision of having to take a break from UA-cam because of ~life~.
This is wonderful. I’m feeling overwhelmed in my last semester of university balancing a heavy reading and writing load with a Catholic missionary job I’m really passionate about but that has less defined hours. I’m a pretty spontaneous person so time management isn’t exactly my strength. These were great tips. ❤
I love it! Actually, I do take my time in practicing my hobbies like painting and gaming. Even though I have a full time job, I also find time to do the things I love. Thank you for your words of encouragement. 🥰😊 I have learned alot. 😄
This was very helpful, thank you very much💛. I really like the "realistic expectations" part because sometimes I try to eat more than I can lol. And thank you so much for the kind way you said things😊. Take care Christy🌼
Thank you so much for making this video Christy, I really appreciate all the advice! It's been my dream to be able to live off my creative "hobbies" but at the moment I can't afford to quit my regular full time job and it's been a struggle to still find time for creativity. I've never been good at managing my time or knew any techniques to do so, so your tips are priceless to me! Thank you so so much, you really inspired me to change my habits and hopefully I'll be able to be more productive. Thank you ☺️❤️
This was so so helpful! I love that you emphasize Sleep and finding a routine that works for us individually instead of trying to follow someone else's routine. Thank you Christy! 💕 I'm going to save this to rewatch!
Great video! I appreciated your distinction between productivity and toxic productivity. The system alternatives were so helpful, especially as someone who can relate to the Pomodoro method interrupting or halting the productive flow! 😅
this was a really good video & helped me reground myself in things that i want to incorporate more of in my life, and i want to commit to building a life that continues to work for me and not what ideally works for others. so happy to see more healthy productivity videos on the web.
Sm is so hard for me too. I feel frustrated and notice that things that interest me no longer stimulate my Mind anymore so I search like crazy for something to watch
While I do agree that mindless scrolling on social media often feels quite meaningless and does take up unnecessary time, I think there is just as much won by down-prioritising what you can if you work a 9-5 that you don't particularly enjoy or that is not taking you where you want. Putting less energy into your 9-5 and therefore having more energy to engage in your passions after work! Same thing if you are studying and one class does not interest you as much or won't be as relevant to what you want to do in the future, don't prioritise it! Esp if you don't really need a specific grade. Prioritise your side-hustle instead then!

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” Never doubt yourself

i love how genuinely wholesome you are esp when you said "throw toxic productivity in the bin"
yes! productivity should only be a priority if you choose to make it one atm, but it shouldn’t be a given lifestyle. love to see this
I needed this.. I struggle with being so tired after my 9-5 that I neglect my passion and content creation at the end of the day!
your articulation is so clear, thank you for this!
I'm so glad you liked the video! 😊

Just get superfit and there will be no burnout. Dominate life, don’t let it dominate you.
