GM, I used your technique today. Went to a local garage that I do a lot of business at. Borrowed the socket and 1/2 to 3/8 reducer from them. I had the other stuff. Had it changed right in their lot in short order. They were impressed. Truck has been shutting down after it's warmed up. 2002 7.3. Ran it a couple hours with no issues so far. Thanks much.
Hey thank you for taking the time to watch plus telling us how helpful this was!!! Please like, share but must subscribe for more!!! This is what motivates me to keep sharing anything that might be helpful to some one like you! Thanks a-lot for sharing your experience with his!!!
I have a 2003 7.3 with the same issue, replaced the camshaft sensor and then the icp sensor which fixed it for about 2 days then it did the same thing and just cut off
Thanks again GM, ready to do this today once the weather warms up. I have been replacing every single sensor for piece of mind on my new/used powerstroke. 1999 and feeling fine!
Thank you for taking the time to post hopefully this turns into an easy job for you after seeing the video don’t forget to post how everything went afterwards!!! Don’t forget getting dirty is the fun part of this job
This is an FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator), which regulates the fuel pressure going TO the bowl, NOT an IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator), which regulates the fuel pressure coming FROM the bowl and going to the injectors. People get them confused all the time, but that doesn't help people fix their trucks.
Just saw this video because I’m having ipr issues what Ratchet is that my flex head is to thick to fix in there just wondering what brand and everything it is because it’s thinner thank you
I have a 2000 7.3. It turns on fine...idles for a minute fine. Then I drive down the road about a half mile and it dies...no warning....just cuts off. It usually starts right up, then when i put it in drive it dies. It seems the hotter it gets, the worse it gets. Any ideas?
Mmm sounds like a failing IPR But you could also have something else going on! A scanner to pull codes could be the best help here! If you could pull any codes let me know i can see what idea we can get from them!... Please subscribe for more
I have a 2000 7.3 excursion that's throws a p1211 only during WOT. Seems to pickup speed faster if I got the pedal 3/4 way down and slower at WOT. Will changing this fix my issue? Thank you.
Hey! Thanks for taking he time to watch! 7.3's may exhibit a long crank time when hot and/or trouble code P1211 (ICP pressure above or below expected) during a hard acceleration. This may be due to the high pressure oil pump. To test the engine needs to be warmed up to operating temperature (engine oil temp above 170 degrees). Perform a hard acceleration while monitoring ICP and IPR data. The IPR duty cycle should not exceed 50%. A lower than normal ICP reading or higher than normal IPR reading may indicate oil leakage in the head. Each head should be isolated and the high oil pressure checked in each, looking for an imbalance in pressure. If the pressure in the heads are the same and the IPR duty cycle is above 55% under load, and the ICP pressure builds slowly while cranking, replace the HP oil pump. Broadcast Message 3837. Note: Air in the HP oil system or a faulty IPR valve can cause similar symptoms. High ICP and IPR may indicate a fuel delivery problem. If the high oil pressure is lower in one head, suspect injector o-rings.
that code is thrown when the ICP signal detects the high pressure oil pressure above or below expected value. it could be due to a lot of things....low could be a leak in the system at some point......which would usually result in a hard or no start hot.......high could be a stuck IPR valve...thats the valve that controlls the pressure Please subscribe for more!!
General Mechanic I got the Torque app and monitored my icp and ipr for a few days and all the time I floor it ipr duty cycle climbs above 50% and max I have seen from icp is 2500 of I stay on it cel comes on with p1211. When at wot, I let go off the pedal the icp climbs to 2800 more or less then drops down. I ordered a new OEM ipr. Do you think that will be the issue? Thanx again for your help.
Well I think I see where it's at which is all I really needed. But I've gotta ask what is the point in having a video just so you can say oh it's already done. Good luck. Thanks anyway man
What those the ipr does in the engine? Cause i have a problem on my 7.3 i turn the truck on and after it turn on the oil pressure goes into normal pressure it drops rigth after all the way down u know what the problem can be? Thanks 👍
Well that sounds like the oil pressure sensor is giving up! I would replace it and see if it stays up’! Cause the 7.3 if there is not oil pressure it will not run, if the ipr was bad that thing would not run at all! Help this helps, any other question! Please feel free to ask Don’t forget to like and subscribe!!
Man that would be hard for me to say man, the little I know about it I’ve learned it by just working in them!.. never went to school for it but here I am 13 years later
Well It wasn't if you are a handy man and got some tools all I have to really work a little was on the top fenders. Hood hinges. And front frame for the bumper to fit and beside that it's all just a little imagination... Do it yourself saves a lot of money!!

No, this is the IPR, I just ordered one, that is what the part is called.
Good job and thanks for making video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch!..
Can also use a wrench from harbor freight it’s 1 3/32 for faucets
Thank you. Great information
Awesome! Thank you!
Just saw this video because I’m having ipr issues what Ratchet is that my flex head is to thick to fix in there just wondering what brand and everything it is because it’s thinner thank you

Matthew D. did you ever fix this? mine has same problem
For anybody else dealing with this problem it's almost certainly the Cam Position Sensor.
Great idea

General Mechanic is there a way to monitor all those things via obd2? I have a bluetooth adapter but sometimes it loses connection.
If you get good connection you probably could!
Check my buzz test video
I show there how to get connection!

But does it run?
Or just tries to crank but i shuts off ?
General Mechanic yes it runs. Starts and runs good with no problem the only thing is that the lil gauge drops all the way down

Hey Moses was it hard upgrading your fenders to the newer fenders?

It came out really nice
brotha!!

thanks.
Not ipr
This is not an '01
It's weird truck... it looks like an 08 or an 09 with a 7.3 dropped in it. Definitely interesting.
It's an 01 with a newer front clip installed
