Now this was very helpful, thank you for stipulating that this was Cubase Artist, unlike other tutorials that don’t make that distinction, and you waste time trying to do something only to find out that it does not work in your version of Cubase.
Hello Chirs, Thanks for the great video!! I'm using Cubase element 11 and I can see that only input and output channel on audio connection May i ask can we able to see external/groupfx/external ins channels on Cubase artist? Thanks
Hi Chris. This is something I discovered a while back and clearly very useful if you want your FX to go through your mixbus processing. There is however still some limitation in that you only have 16 group channels available in Cubase 10 Elemets and 8 groups in Ai and LE - which can get used up pretty quick when you've got 5 instrument groups and some parallel comp going on. Still, since some are free, so yo can't really complain. My big bug-bear with not having Pro is the lack of sidechaining option. You can get some 'ducking' going on with 3rd party plugins like 'Kickstart', but it's limited, you don't have the option to key in specific attack & release times on your compressor, nor indeed choose a compressor. I like Cubase and have been using it a long time, but i am considering trying another DAW because of this. Thanks for the vid
Amazing sir,i have a question is cubase artist or ai le have only four vst effects slot..... I'm cubase artist user and i can only add four vst effects to my audio,if there's a way on how to add more than four please tell me 😁🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️....
It never occurred to me this was something they did in artist. I thought it was Cubase in general, so thanks! I've had Cubase Artist for a couple of weeks now and I really love the upgrade but I wish I could upgrade my edu version to pro without having to buy the full version :(
@@mixdownonline Yeah, although I did a lot of research before buying I have discovered after quite some use that I'd like to have a few features that artist doesn't have (VariAudio, MixConsole Snapshot and Audio Allotment) but to pay the full price again is a little too much. Let's hope they add an educational upgrade in the future :) (It's just to improve workflow, until then I'll manage lol)
Hi Chris excellent tip, and you answered a huge problem I was having in elements 10. When I added an effects channel to a group of tracks, all ok so far. Yet when I added those tracks to a group channel as well, the volume stayed the same when I pulled down the group fader! It only decreased when I pulled down the fx fader? So I now realise that as you are saying the output for the fx channel goes directly to the master. So it overrides the group channel setting. So doing your nifty little workaround I can route effects to any group or channel and use the mix buses to control the overall level of a group of tracks. Cheers Chris another excellent video.🎹🎶🎼😎🤟
Thanks!!! I´ve wondered about this, but never thought about this solution. Btw, how do you create the empty space between the group channels and the rest in mix view?
Hi chris my mouse button in cubase doesn’t function and can’t turn the volume or fx channel or plugin anything but when I press “alt” it works. Can someone help me to revert it back to mouse button functionality. Many thanks
This is a nice tip Chris. I'm an Artist user myself so this is realy helpfull for me. Is it possible to do a sortlike thing with parallel compression, because I think it is not supported in Artist. Thanks!
Yes you can, just use a Group Channel and insert your compressor on that channel and SEND your Audio track's signal to that Group channel and you have parallel compression
Nice idea Chris, but especially for templates, there's an easier way. I haven't tried that in Elements or AI, but is definately works in Artist. You cannot route any FX channel to an existing group, right. But you can select any amount of FX channels, right click and add them to a new one. I'm not sure, if this is a feature or a bug. The drawback, you cannot add further FX channels through the routing tab, sadly. But using that approach, I built my template, when I was on Artist. Hope it helps someone.
Someone just sent me an email about that one... looks like a bug or something Lol... if that is intentional maybe they should update the routing limitation then... I added this tip in the description of the video :-) Thanks for sharing, Peter!
I don't understand the sence of this kind of routing. What is the difference between choosing an effect group as a send and routing an effect to the group. Is that not the same?
Hey Chris, I hope Steinberg’s commercial department don’t give you a dislike, haha. I complement your video with this one, of yours, of course, showing a comparison between effect tracks and group tracks: ua-cam.com/video/UbdUhF9PAP8/v-deo.html
Hello, love the channel. I have used your videos for inspiration for my EPQ project at school and was wondering if you would check out my channel and give me some feedback. i can then use this feedback for the course. Thank you.

Please do more like this. Most people don't have the Pro version
Sure!
Thank you so much
You're welcome!

You're right about those limitations :-(
Great video as usual Chris, but already all the FX is finished, Unfortunately, there is not enough fx channel for the project
This is part of the limitations of those versions :-(

very cool! is there a hack to send that group channels output, to an audio channels input, in order to record.?
no thats impossible :) you have to render.

The Pro version is pretty nice without those kind of limitations but it's an investment so it depends on your needs

Yes, that is unfortunate

Check this one out ua-cam.com/video/z4-SyjKCX28/v-deo.html not sure it works in Elements though

@@mixdownonline You're most welcome. I just hope, that telling that doesn't lead to Steinberg removing that option :).
@@Giovanni_B9 Great!
@@peterbrandt7911 You can always duplicate the fx channel and it will also be routed to the bus that the previous one was

In Cubase we have 2 kinds of AUX channels, Groups and FX Channels... This is what I'm talking about in this vid.
Said this in a comment few weeks ago :p
Yeah, I knew someone said this in a comment but I forgot it was you! So thank you brother for giving me a good video topic :-) You Rock!
