I'm a beginner and Ozone does exactly what I needed at this point and what he says in the video: it takes the muffling blanket off of my mix and does it let breathe. I also like the presets, but the generated "starting point" after analyzing my tracks really does it for my! Happy customer 🤘 Peace 🖖
These tutorials are the absolute best. Exceedingly clear and concise with the bonus of real-world adjustment scenarios on good song material. And seriously, Ozone 11 is sonically astounding. Thank you.
I totally agree...he's like the extra super patient and eloquent teacher you wished you'd had at school! He's made mixing and mastering in the box so much less complicated for me and easier to get good results, even if they're not at a professional level one would expect in a commercial studio. I'm not aiming to be a mixing or mastering engineer because I'm more focussed on the quality of the songs I write, but getting better finished tracks overall, as an enthusiastic singer songwriter, has been made massively easier thanks to Izotope and Geoff...so thanks, Geoff...much appreciated!!
This was my very first look at ANY iZotope product. This guy spoke to me on my level that I could completely understand. This was a game/life changer. Thank you for this!
Just got Ozone 11 from immoral sources, used it on my track and the master that I did was so much crappier than what ozone spit out in 5 seconds. I'm a beginner and been mastering my song for a couple of days. Thank you Izotope, now I can make a song, mix it then delegate my mastering to ozone with nice multiple choices.
I upgraded from Ozone 9 more to just make sure it ran well on my new Mac Studio and playing with it and then watching this video I'm blown away with what an upgrade this is!
Thank you so much for giving us this video, which is an information about ozone, but also a workshop in mastering. Your voice sounds very calming, and your pronunciation is very good. May be important for everyone but definitely for me, because I’m not a native English speaker. You’re speaking velocity was not too fast, but also not too slow (so that everyone will fall asleep). Well done with good sound examples. Merci, Mario.
Huge improvement from Ozone 9. Actually, the whole of iZotope production tools is improved more than I expected. I just finished my first mix relying entirely on either Neutron or Nectar. LOVE IT and at a fraction of the time. I was not able to do that with previous versions.
The Stem Focus is a little Bluff. First., it isn't the work of a Master engineer to effect the Stems. The engineer always works with the main stereo Signal of the mix. And no AI in the world could go back in the Stems of the mix. It would be like isolating the eggs in your Cake batter. You will always work with some frequencys you could push up or down. In this case, he had a mix where the frequencys of the voice where highly pushed up (for whatever reason). Barley no other instrument filled it. And surprise : the effect on the voice was truly high.😂 So finally: If you have good Cake batter the master engineer will bake it well and get some decor on it. Not more....
This video and tutorial is explaining the highlights of the new version very comprehensible and detailed. I am very excited about the upgrade from Advanced 10 to 11. I especially like the Clarity module and the new Maximizer.
I made the cross grade without trying it first and I was not disappointed!!! Thank your for so much effort. I would glad to see one day an IOS app. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I don’t think everyone is grasping the evolution of where audio manipulation is going…when applied on a master level, this can produce the unfathomable bro!!! 💯
Yea humans are really becoming irrelevant useless animals for just about everything, AI will soon be listening to its own creations & productions blocking us out & leaving us to go extinct 😀
Finally took the plunge yesterday! I bought Ozone 11 Elements. I'm pretty sure I'll upgrade to standard when I have more cash. So far it's AI power is staggering. Making some really good masters with it.
Just picked it up last night.... I was curious as to where things were going with Brainworx, PA, Native and Izotope joining forces..... dude WHAT?! This thing is amazing. Im having way too much fun
I even hear the change in your voice before you activate before & after, the clarity plug in got me going crazy as well as the maximizer🎉 Overall iZotope Ozone did an amazing job here👏

I watched this clear and concise tutorial before deciding to upgrade from Ozone 9 advanced and so happy I did. I will refer back to this video as I become more familiar with the finer controls, but just using it's AI settings on a simple mix blew me away with the clarity, depth and definition of the instruments and vocals. Worth every cent to me! Thanks Geoff and team!
@@melodymel6 thanks for the reply! After some research, across the whole suite, there were a number of new things that I think are well worth the 150 upgrade fee. So I just grabbed it! Thanks for your input!
Ozone 12? Rumors? Anything? We're coming up on that magical week and there's no talk. The greatest mastering software in the history of the world and there is no talk about 12.
Hello there, I finally was able to DOWNLOAD the free trial, nd it’s OUT OF THE PLANET how OZONE bring up the SOUNDS to a very profesional LEVEL. I’m READY TO BUY IT !!! I hope you can keep making more videos like this ….
Pretty lovely tut. thanks. the only thing I'd be interested in would be for the case "what when my specific genre doesn't appear in the list". Well, since I'm using Ozone (from 5 to now 11) I never found any Ambient related genre in the list. I fear the cinematic thing is more related to the more "epic" trailer thing, no?. but what if there's not much high end because I find it disturbing in Ambient music and I'd like to use the assistant, wouldn't it just try to bring up any high end anyways just to try to fix and balance the track?... sorry I'm still kind of newbie in mastering but more than willing to learn. thanks so much for any tips / replies on this. could it be that it could be done with kind of track matching thing?...
You demo Izotope products so clearly. Q: When is the new RX advanced coming out? Aaaaaand will it be able to do the unmix stem separation with the same (or better) level of phase coherent separation as the latest Spectralayers 10?
I can't wait to try the new ai assistant out, I have ozone 8 and the automated mastering is good but doesn't quite match places like masteringbox which I've been using each time I finish a song but if I can pay one price for ozone 11 and do unlimited tracks then that's the way I should go.
I'm beyond *butt-hurt* that I didn't win Ozone 11 Advanced ... I literally felt my *heart drop* , and then I started dancing because it sounded *so dope* .
Then you're getting too involved in the MIX elements of the song. If you are mixing, just adjust those values. If you're just mastering, talk with the mix engineer and the artist about the changes
It's always a great pleasure to listen to you. Excellent explanations are exactly your thing. I bought the upgrade straight away and yes, all the new features are worth every cent. Thanks for these helpful plugins and special thanks to you Geoff, you're doing a great job. Cheers Falk
Ozone is for mastering, not mixing, and does a lot different from Gullfoss. What are you talking about? Do you use an older version of Ozone that you’re happy with? This comment is so confusing.
I did like the presentation, very clear, concise and informative (Geoff is the best presenter I have ever seen for audio production software). Two questions remain for me about the Clarity module: 1) is the Clarity module doing the same as Gullfoss? 2) Why it is limited to the range beginning at 300 Hz? (Lows not being processed by the module). Cheers.
Love your tutorials as always! I did notice at 29 mins where it should be saying "BEFORE", it actually says "AFTER" just not highlighted. Thought you might wanna fix that, or not...
Hi, I'm loving Ozone 11 so far, but is there any place I can see a comprehensive guide on what order the modules should be in as a general rule for when I'm mastering? as well as what modules to use and dial in first?
Amazing. You are my favorite at showcasing the izotope products. These new features are amazing!!! Guess I can scrap Split EQ lol. Now question is how is phase affected by all this tonal and transient for each module back to back? Will there we a side recovery module added? Stageone 2 seems to be the best plugin to use just to fox side information to reenforce mono compatibility
I love your videos; they're always so well demonstrated and articulated. I'm liking the new improvements, but was disappointed that the EQ curve on the Mastering Assistant main page still doesn't show the frequencies by number. It would tell me so much more than trying to guess. Labeling the sections as Low, Low-Mid, High-Mid, and High are great and all, but surely it wouldn't be difficult to give a bit more info?
I absolutely love the upgrade :-) You explain everything so well, thanks. A question though - I am an opera singer and do a lot of classical vocals and add orchestra to it, or just piano and a classical voice. In most, if not all products out there there isn't anything targeted to classical music with vocals. In the modules in Izotope we can choose between pop, rap, rock and more but no option for classical that has opera voices. I know when listening to classical recordings the sound is so different when comparing it with other genres of music as well in color as in volume/limited. Is the cinematic choice the best choice to go to? Maybe also something for the future for Izotope to think of to add a feature for the classical music. What advice can you give on using the genres for classical artist recording... Again, I love the upgrade 🙂
Definitely cinematic, or create your own custom curve. Takes a bit of experimentation, but is always worth the effort if you need to be more hands-on with your approach.
Geoff. I have watched tons of your videos and yes, they are clear, concise, and very well explained. You are simply one of the very best. I really love iZotope Products, Ozone 11 is just a mind-breaker plugin. But I think that we need a single EQ module with the dynamic mode.
It’s available as a separate plugin with advanced.
Great video! Thanks for explaining everything!!
Great job, great product and user friendly. This gives me more time to actually write music :)
9:00 Master Rebalancing could be arguably the greatest plugin if they added snare, synth, hi hat, piano elements of separating increase/decrease
True, but at least you can get much closer now with the flexibility of stem focused processing
spectralayers can separate drums into kick, snare and cymbals
Then you're getting too involved in the MIX elements of the song.
If you are mixing, just adjust those values.
If you're just mastering, talk with the mix engineer and the artist about the changes
