George Lynch Workshop and Performance at Sweetwater Sound - Part 8 of 10

- George Lynch visited Sweetwater on March 6, 2013 for a special workshop and performance in the Sweetwater Performance Theatre. Sweetwater had just become a dealer for ESP guitars, and George played each of his ESP signature models and discussed his 27-year relationship with ESP.
Not only did George graciously answer several questions from the audience, he treated us to several tracks from his own catalog, and even closed out the event by jamming with a band comprised of instructors from the Sweetwater Academy of Music and staff from the Sweetwater Retail Store.
Enjoy the video, then check out George Lynch's signature ESP guitars right here: bit.ly/SW_LynchESP
I think the coolest thing about George is he is a very Down to Earth normal guy. It is too bad about Lynch Mob, because I thought that band was really cool.
Wow, Mr Lynch is quite well spoken....Great guitar player to
i agreed with you!!!
And apparently quite a prolific communist too
Yes sensai
no one comes close to his style Man he is the essence of cool and his guitar playing demonstrates that
George is a HUGE inspiration and influence on my learning.
Me too! At 14,15 huge inspiration as well. Met him twice. Very nice and personable...
Such a great guitar player love his hand picking and picking techniques so cool
Lynch is a monster just my dad and Steve vai
Me as well my friend.
Sooo articulate, insightful, and knowledgeable. GL is one of the best ever.
Never knew he was that well-spoken. Full of intelligence. My man crush.
I'd never heard George Lynch speak before watching this video. He seems comfortable and natural speaking publicly. Very informative. But I still miss him playing guitar with Dokken.
Lynch Mob's second album featuring Robert Mason on lead vocals was the BEST ALBUM so far.
Cool and nice dude. Just never got the big breaks he so well deserves. One of my favorites.
He is my hands down favorite, love the 80's hard rock stuff!!!!!
yeah, and very down to earth.
George lynch seems like a great guy! very down to earth! I can tell you that he is the reason I began playing guitar! I think he is the best from that period of time and is beyond EVH, Warren demartini, vai, and those guys
Great insight into George, he really wears his heart on his sleeve in this Q and A. Be sure to watch it all, as he shares one of the best insights answering what I think is the last question.
Thanks George, for a lifetime of great guitar music.
wow. he was totally candid about Clapton and Beck. And dead-on. Clapton just never got any better and just wallowed in simple blues licks. Jeff Beck was always better but he always amazes somehow.
When darkness Calls....George is a legend So sad his band didnt work out.....good luck for the future.... one of my all time guitar heroes
He's six years older than me?!
They asked him what else he had going on and he remembered what amounts to a regular musicians successful career
George seems like a really cool class act guy. He seems like the type of guy who would jam with you even when he has stuff do. He just seems like he puts people first instead of himself.
Lynch is a monster on guitar just like my dad and petrucci. What's a sugar song?
Wow, I had no idea that Mr. Lynch had such depth of character - and was also a luthier. Wonderful video
i don't blame george for being alittle bitter about the music buisness, but im glad he's still doing it.......rock on mr lynch
Mr Lynch Im 15 i play the piano My parents made me my girlfriend shes a little older asked me too listen to the music you have made throughout the years Because of her and of course yourself i have almost mastered the guitar thank you you are an inspiration
That moment where he turned up and we got the heat the hum from the single coil
Every guitar player tuned out the noise and just heard the notes
One of the things you get used to
John Mayer said it’s like the sound of someone breathing
George is like, " Dude. I might want to play something, duh."
FYI Venture's tune is actually called Pipeline. One of my first songs too, though I'm much younger than George. Great Q&A!
Why doesn't George jump into the business side? After 40 years, still left out of it? Puhhleezzzz....
you rock George So that is what matters, I feel the sane, Never allow yourself to be shit on when you Jeff Rock. Beat wishes Mr. Ed
Ok, now I feel like a douche for all the stupid comments I have made on youtube about how he isn't "Mr Scary" anymore and that he lost his passion. He plays different material than the 80's but that's just him evolving. I knew I shouldn't have move to NE from CA. My brain is shrinking LOL
I have to say that after watching this my assessment of mr. Lynch has greatly improved..
George Lynch sounds like Jeff Bridges, when you listen to him talk.
true,lol.
great player. one of my guitar heroes. He should go talk to Dave Grohl. He sure figured out the $$ end of the business.
Yeah, the ones that whine about Capitalism are generally the ones that are still taking huge hits off of that water pipe.........dream on dreamers....stop smoking dope and live in reality instead of chasing it with a beer! Listen to people whom present wisdom with love.
I think he's sincere and I love his guitar playing. I just think people can get hurt and get synical. I hope he remains positive as we've lost many in the past to their own destructive outlook.
George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Tommy Rombola and Sully, Dimebag Darryl, Jerry Cantrel, Steve Stevens, Billy Duffy.....are just a few of the most inspirational guitar players in my life(again, just a few).....with Lynch the most inspiring....who are yours people???
Other than those you mentioned... Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhodes, Chris Oliva, Dave Prichard, Mark Reale, Tony Iommi, Richie Blackmore...the list goes on.
I've probably been influenced to some degree by just about every guitarist that's played on every song I've heard. Obviously some more that others, but an influence is an influence.
Matilda8567 *Rhoads ooh big fan.. :)
Oh yeah, stellar follow up Matilda8567.......love all of them. Include Vivian Campbell, Brad Gillis and my southern friends, the Allman Brothers, and Garry Rossington and Allen Collins of "Skynyrd" fame and we have a tri-fecta.
Randy Rhoads...
Alpha and Omega for me
pfdad1 Awesome man...lol.. I hung out with Alpha and Omega... And Ember Days and Glorious Unseen ...
Id like to meet george. Seems like a really down to earth man.
“The wrong people are the hero’s” sooooo true. How did this become the way. Seen many things on George Lynch online, this was for me one of the best.
Man hasn't changed in over thirty-f*ckin'-years! As cool to everyone he meets as anyone I've ever met...
What George said at 16:46 is the same thing that we ask about Dokken. He wants Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton to reunite Cream. But, Don is the one that doesn't want a Dokken Reunion. Bummer. Btw, I love everything Lynch puts out and own all of it. Just a side note. :)
Hell yeh!!!! George at a meshuggah concert! good shit
He should hire a fashion designer
wow still shredding at 58! good on you mr. scary!
George....... I got to say my brother, I am proud of the path you've taken and respect your humility. Other comments here do bring up some good points about signing on the dotted line, but you have remained an important influence in the industry and have also maintained long term relationships with "like minded" folk. The others? Well, lets just say they knew nothing of protecting their art and maintaining their original personalities and the real reasons they became interested in music. Still loving all your music....... even 25-30 years later!!
He is a really good guy, also real down to earth,I know George through Anthony Esposito, have hung with him and the band and he always makes time for his friends and fans,a bit of a comedian too..
Need more people in the biz like George.
Awesome, such a nice guy, the best thing is it's really nice to see the awesome musicians that I have grown hearing are making a coevack, almost all of them, Old School Rules... 💕💕💕🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
George Lynch, the rock n roll Guitar Hero named Lynch Mob, Sweet and Lynch, KXM, The End Machine and Dirty Shirley
He has the perfect attitude...
its amazing how many guitar heros mention billy gibbons as a big influence in their lives. Heck...van halen used to cover La Grange when they were just a club band in california. It was their closer song.
George is the greatest
I enjoyed hearing his opinion. Named some real names right at the end.
Totally enjoyed this! One of the few well spoken rockers, and a smart dude. Great stories. GEORGE needs to write a Bio Book!!
The Vibrato King!
Greatest rock guitar player ever. You know that its George. Has his own sound.
FACTS BROTHER!!
Awesome guitar player
He speaks with the buyer thru the process & signs it & C.O.A .... but at this point the values change, because.....now you will pay 40% more for the guitar because of these factors. Its not like............. I will make you a guitar for THIS price , then throw in the talking thru the process & C.O.A as an added cherry on top , ...Im sure it all gets figured in. So for the Lynch fan, sounds awesome . not so sure about the typical guitar player just looking for a good guitar.
What kind of glove is he wearing? I have been looking for something like that for my arthritic hands.
Well said! George Lynch rocks!
Just amazing.
I idolize the 80s guitar masters true musicians at the highest level thank the heavens George is still around that teaches us
the top horn of his guitar looks like a goose´s head
Kevin Kawasaki "top horn" hahahahaha it's called a headstock
Pandaweed Xl .. He's not talking about the 'Headstock'.. Idiot.. You don't know 'Top Horn' .. Do you?... Well, it's the uppermost part of the guitar body where the strap button is screwed in.. mostly.. ... And you are "hahahahaha-ing" .. LMFAO .. Thanks mate.. Made my day ;)
Pandaweed Xl Laugh's on you!!!! Learn your guitar. The horn is not the headstock donkey!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a wonderful, erudite, intelligent and kind human being George is. Could listen to him talk for hours. Been watching him play since '88 with Dokken... he was a guitar god then.. And he still is today in 2021 (check out Phase 2 by The End Machine). Long may he continue to bless us with his music and his talent.
George i encourage you to read Proverbs in the bible, it blows Voltaire outa the water..imho
James Price he's not likely to read that lol he is an athiest
Pure Awesome!!!
Pipeline - Ventures..... LOL!!!!
lots of practicing helps but becoming a world famous band requires a combination of ineluctable qualities that cannot be predicted at all. You need to have a unique style, tone and the "time" has to be right for your genre of music.
Does anyone know the exact Kramer model the Kamakazi guitar ESP was based on? I want to get the one with that particular headstock.
His honesty is as loud as his amps. Appreciate you.
G.O.A.T. another chaser of tone. Unique player. 🎸🎛️🎙️🎼🎵🎶🤟😷😎🤘
At 14:00 GL described his time away from music and it was so encouraging because life does force me to walk away and when I go back it is more exciting than before
1 of the greatest ever!
whats the band called he said at 10:06
I just heard him talk for the first time a few days ago. Now this. He becomes more awesome to me every day. I share almost every value he's discussed. Great musician and great guy!
Very interesting artist indeed...I didn't know he was such an intellectual teacher. It's a pleasure enjoying his music throughout the years. Thanks George 🤘
12:17 George mistakes "Pipeline" by the Chantays for "Penetration" by the Stooges. The look of confusion on his face, as he tries to recall the song and how to play it, is just perfect.
I like the one song a month idea George... go with it brother! Stephen King put out "The Green Mile" in monthly installments. I read each one as it came out and couldn't wait for the next.
Love the nods to ZZ Top and Animals As Leaders. GL is an amazingly humble human.
very humble guy!
When are you going to do a Sacred Groove tour again?
happy thanksgiving mr lynch
Howard zinn, chomsky. Aww george just gained serious respect from me.
George kinda looks like Buck Owens from Hee Haw with long hair.
It's cool to see a musician who is comfortable in his own skin and so honest and welcoming.
You dont have to clap for daddario
love to see him,Jake E. Lee,Vivian Campbell,De Martini/Crosby,Vinnie Vincent,John Sykes on stage together ....guys from that era
Robbin Crosby, of Ratt, died in 2002.
Japan building the Kamikaze, priceless!!
I wish I had the money to have one made would be a dream come true. There awesome
actually it is in some ways...depends on which socialism do you refer to ....Yugoslavia,Russia,China,Venezuela,Germany,Vietnam ...
Great job George!
A fan since 1984.
what a cool guy
People ask the most stupid questions! Christ!
I'm sure I saw Jack Black in the audience :)
I'm sooooooo pissed that I heard nothing about this. I live 30 minutes away and would have been there in a minute. Huge fan
He has a great instructional Video-It blew me away-[Then he introduced his guitar instructors-I thought I was going to fall off my chair-fret Guitarist]
Can you send a poor guy one.?
...most recent offer I got from a publishing house was a 10% royalty...they get to keep the rest. Hmmmmmm.
George Lynch sounds bitter and disappointed for not being financially successful
Cornelius Maximilianus Life can disappoint you so it’s ok to talk about it.
legend! \m/
Awesome truths and a climax to boot!!
he was my favorite singer back in the day but nowadays he cant sing,he lost his voice.
Hey Try French food sometimes and forgot Hamburgers°)!:
What a nice man.
Yup, he sure is :-) !! I met him in Montreal in Nov '13, an experience I'll never forget :-) !!
Wow, so many awesome projects of his are gone. Loved Lynch Mob & Souls of We. :/
