Where many megawads have failed before, Eviternity II manages to not just stick the landing, but absolutely drop the mic with what I consider to be the single best final boss fight in all of doom. Of course, such an amazing boss deserves an appropriately kickass song to go with it, and Tristan once again delivers. So happy to be able to listen to this one on UA-cam.
I came here to say that the Forgotten God in 3HA3 was the best ever MAP30 song in Doom. I was wrong. Tristan, take a f***ing bow. With your permission, I absolutely want to make this the music to the final map in my new WAD 🤘
I'm torn between this and map 32 as eviternity 2's musical highlight. This *sounds* like a final boss theme should - something that DOOM generally doesn't do - E1M8, E2M8 and MAP30 of the original were always more unsettling tunes than epic, E3M8 takes 8 seconds and the rest are all repurposed music but this is an actual piece worthy of the last fight in the game. "Jimmy suggested repeating the main section, but now in the new 6/8 time signature." Oh my goodness what a great call that was - that final stretch from 4:35 onwards really turns this song on its head and propels it into one of my favorite doom tracks of all time. The 4/4 main theme is the fight with the final boss that could go either way; the 6/8 reprise is more of a final march to victory where the outcome has already been decided in your favor and its only a matter of taking the time to expend the cells. I love it.
Was looking for this after I beat Eviternity 2 so I could listen to it again. Man what a blood pumping song with the perfect amount of determination and emotion behind it, epic is putting it lightly. The end fight is great in itself but this song makes it so much more engaging and fun, fantastic work dude.
Absolutely incredible composition, Tristan! You and the rest of the original Doom soundtrack composers are so incredibly underrated, so much uniqueness! I genuinely hope you and the rest are able to find fruitful careers in composing for big games!
Whilst I am still not sold on the final boss idea in Doom, I am sold on totally epic sounding tracks for said boss battles. You have really outdone yourself with your contributions to Eviternity 2 and my favourite maps from the set wouldn’t be what they are without your midis either.
Dear Tristan, once again you've proven yourself to be very much 'above and beyond' in the underappreciated realm of soundtrack composers. This track in particular, even in its current (as you mention) rushed state, is so glorious I felt it was worth creating a UA-cam account just to be able to place this comment. Semantically, our languages tend to lack the words to express evoked emotions, whether through music or any other influence; but I suspect you've received enough praise for your work from your fellow Doomers already! Instrictively, I feel that - abstracted from its videogame/'final battle' setting - this piece could be as good a fit at a funeral, as Pachelbel's Canon (albeit overused) is at weddings. The tenser, quieter segments can relate well to the struggles of earthly life, while the magnificent chorus evokes very much a sense of liberation, 'from dust to the Beyond' if you will. I haven't had to commission a bespoke piece of music yet - but if I ever do...
What an absolute banger to end off Eviternity 2! Well deserved, you and all of the other composers who composed the music for this absolute masterpiece for Doom's 30th birthday!
You really outdid yourself with this one, man. I was completely blown away the first time, and it still manages to hit hard every single other time I hear it again.
With utmost respect to Dragonfly, Bauul, Antares, Jimmy, and all the other folks who put everything into Eviternity 2, you absolutely stole the show on this wad. Sensational stuff mate.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! I was waiting for this one! I am very nostalgic about FF8 and 9; for whatever reason, this song reminded me of those games, particularly The Dark Messenger, which always said this was the final battle. The epic capstone finale immediately reminded me of Map 2 there. I like this for many reasons; actual bass and instruments made it really stick with me as a particularly epic moment after largely midi music. A very fitting conclusion to a fantastic experience, and it did. Particularly that opening and middle segment... really sick. Are you releasing the rest of the eternity with this style, too? Well, I look forward to it. I'll make sure to stick around!
This is the one i most waited for, and i didnt stopped hearing it a single day! I love how sad and dramatic but epic at the same time is, it's fantastic! Great job, as well as in the rest of the soundtrack, you all!
If only they hired you to do the boss music for the Nemesis Macrocosm. When I played this level I was like "I didn't know I was playing Complex ClusterF!" An expanded mod with a hard boss level that is older than this, but more challenging.
absolutely incredible composition, Tristan! You and the rest of the original Doom soundtrack composers are so incredibly underrated, so much uniqueness! I genuinely hope you and the rest are able to find fruitful careers in composing for big games!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Tristan's music really elevated this wad above and beyond.

I think one thing that surprises a lot of people about the doom mapping community is just how much banging metal comes out of it.

I don't often feel this way about video game music, but this feels like it is supposed to have lyrics sung along with it.

It's been a privilege using your soundtracks for my doom levels. 😊
This song is just badass for the final fight.
Eviternity II's soundtrack has been a massive highlight for me throughout!
Congrats!

4:37 Damn, that's an eargasm right there for me. 🤘
Not every day you see someone playing a "guitar" solo on a fretless bass. :D

Absolutely God tier.

The song is rightfully praised and I adore it too, but I want to point out editing at the end (from 5:00 basically) - nice rewind to the origin :) .
This is undeniably the best OST in the best WAD.
I came here to listen to the song after beating the final boss, what an epic fight that was. even much better than the original.
Amazing track for an equally amazing boss fight.
Worth the wait! SO GOOD!
Amazing Song , really good work 🔥🔥
An absolute face melter. Lovely stuff 😎 the masterful ebbs and flows in this piece are insane
The best soundtrack in this WAD by far.
A stellar music for a stellar bossfight for an absolute masterpiece of a megawad!
Can't wait!

This is the one i most waited for, and i didnt stopped hearing it a single day! I love how sad and dramatic but epic at the same time is, it's fantastic! Great job, as well as in the rest of the soundtrack, you all!

Everything about this is just so damn cool. Thank you so much!

YOOOOOO
Incredibly well done, I really am speechless...mainly so I can focus on listening to this absolute masterpiece!
Brilliant piece and an incredible level.
If only they hired you to do the boss music for the Nemesis Macrocosm.

Will this see a Spotify/Tidal release?
Eventually yes, I'm working on an album of non-MIDI versions of all my other evi2 tracks and this will of course be included with that :)
1:21
Just curious but are there any plans to add this to Spotify in the future?
Yep, hopefully this year, it'll be part of an album with non-MIDI recordings of all my other Eviternity 2 tracks
😙👌🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Incredible work. Could I please throw money at you to make something for me? :D
Timed perfectly for when im going for a run, cannot wait 😄
