"No, seriously, it's an autoscroller. It shouldn't take longer than four minutes, so the track doesn't have to be very long." Jimmy: [visibly not listening]
The sheer presentation of this track is incredible, but what strikes me is how well it sustains itself to match the (likely repeated attempts) of its map. Def my fav secret tune.
I'm doing a second run through Eviternity 2 and def looking forward to hauling ass through this map again (I'm on Map 11 now). Map 32 is still fresh in my mind and I'm suddenly wondering if this entire level is meant to be that golden Cacodemon from Charge exacting vengeance from beyond the grave. He was having a grand time tearing up those sealed-off tunnels in the mountain, even trailing explosions behind him at one of those street crossings, but Doomguy had to be a total buzzkill and murder him for his yellow skull key. Map 33 has Doomguy running for dear life--probably the first time he's actually found himself in such a situation tbh.
What's that? I can't hear this over the sound of DSSLOP looping endlessly! 👀👂🤚 Now, kidding aside, I can't ever get tired of this track. I don't know how you do it, Jimmy, but this world is blessed to have you composing so much good music. ♥
3:06 : Orgasm. I didn't play this wad for now, too busy with cacowards. But this track is a f**cking nuke. Thanks you Jimmy, it's a piece of art, far better than many from big studios.
This one of the most fun secret maps -- and maps in general -- I've ever played in Doom, and I'm positive your track is part of the reason Jimmy. Thank you!
Only started my Eviternity II UV playthrough 3 days ago and loving it. Good to hear these awesome tracks again. The fast appregiated synth sounds and the off chords and notes to any music key are so Jimmy Paddock. Glad you are still doing these awesome songs.
Like tough skin river this OST carry so much hope and victory. It really give the feeling you are accomplishing something,it is so powerfull and it is THE perfect song for the map 33.
Maps 1, 15, 21, 33 are the only maps I am able to play due to crashes, but it's good to see that Eviternity music still bangs! Good job on this track, James!
Unfortunately, we only get to hear about one-third of this incredible track if Catalyst is completed in less than the three minutes a speed run can pull off.
This map is quite frustrating and difficult to complete, so let me break it down; You will constantly be moving forward so hold back to slow down. Touching the lasers or the lava will instantly kill you, so avoid them at all costs. Also don't take too long or you will be caught in the explosion. It will take many tries to succeed, but the secret weapon's well worth the trouble.
I hear no direct influence here, but it has vibes of The Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater - and it's possibly the highest praise I could give to any song :) . I absolutely love Hyperdrive, even though Catalyst was definitely a pass for me (skill issue, that's sure, I'll try more of it or lower difficulties than UV). All the best for you, Jimmy!
@@DinnerForkTongue Had to beat it after saving doing that just by a tid bit, otherwise I lose my full playtime (without loading saves of course). But at least it doesn't flash in your face nor does it cause headaches and seizures. - 'Cough' NDCP2 'Cough'-
We're going back to Battletoads for this one 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
"Now James, this level's short and sweet, you don't have to go overboard on the music."
Jim: "... I don't understand the question."

@@DinnerForkTonguesurely we’ll see this epic track used in epic maps which can use it in its entirety no problem
Jimmy took into account the DSDA "rewind frame" feature
Expecting the man who composed The Godhood Suite to restrain himself is just silly
This MIDI absolutely fucking rips my face off and I love that
Are you sure it's the music and not the lasers or the lava? 😁
@@DinnerForkTongue I think "all of the above" is the correct answer--though you forgot about the explosions chasing you from behind!
ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

EVACUATE, NOW!
This track is literally half of the experience for the Catalyst, wouldn't be the same without it

Absolutely a perfect fit for Catalyst!
Catalyst was a hell of a surprise by itself, but this track made me replay it several times over, simply amazing!
Catalyst + Hyperdrive is one HELL of a stimulant. That's my cardio hype-up for bike or treadmill day. 😆
This is what happens when Motion Machine hands the controller to its older brother

This banger hypes the shit out of me when I'm lifting weights man, keep up with those Masterpieces! ❤
I reserve this for biking or running, continuous exercise. Hyperdrive is like hitting the nitro boost.
the load game menu has never sounded this good
Fantastic MIDI, absolute pain in the ass of a level.

Not entirely true. I would even risk to say you hear more times than you could expect especially when you finally got successful attempt 🫠

This was my like my favorite level and song in the doom wad it was amazing
did this with only the strafe key that last part was brutal
Congrats!
Sound of me dying 6000 times because GZDoom Lags during the hardest parts of the map.
If you have access to Vulkan, use it. _Much_ better performance than OpenGL.
Use Vulkan as your rendering API if you can. It's much better for performance.
One of the best songs in the work-of-art mega-mappack along with. . . The most ANNOYING MAP to run through in one go.
Great soundtrack.
Look at it this way: Catalyst will teach you movement techniques and precision you never thought you'd have.
