Even though the sound quality naturally drops, I've been listening to this MIDI on x0.75 speed lately and it somehow feels so much more emotional (which is saying a lot already from me, as I've already cried while listening to this track). This is one of my favorite MIDIs of all time! Amazing work, Tristan, seriously!
I think so. Map 30's midi is both a epic battle and a Triumphant march, but there is something both calm and, despite the high instrumentation, cosy about this track. Perhaps because it's so tingly. Which is somewhat appropriate as while Thaw has some of the nastiest battles in that episode, I feel it's more "I'm ready when you are". That might be the midi doing double duty on atmosphere, I remember dying right at the end and any such peaceful motions left my mind. XD Though, the thing I like about Tristan's tracks is the number of layers going on. Like when I really listen to it, there's a lot of themes and jingles that make placing the tune really easy in my mind. Perhaps, strangely of all, I get the reminder of the ice cap zone from sonic 3; tunes are nothing alike, but there is something about this style that is just nostalgic.
This and Velocity are my favorites in the WAD by far and away. In the immortal words of Swisgar, "This music is likes potato chips. I can't stop listening to it. Plays it again."
I've been playing Eviternity 2 in my free time lately, I just finished this level today and rushed to find the OST on UA-cam, it's a great song, it fits the pace of the level, it feels unique and makes the atmosphere so much better. Funny enough, my two favorite songs from Eviternity 2 and 1 are for "Snow levels". "Wanderer" in the first mod is also good, but this is probably the best one yet, great stuff man.
Been waiting for this upload; all of the music in this wad has been stellar, but the chill (not trying to make the obvious pun I swear) vibes I get from this track are just so soothing to my brain. Thanks for making this one, Tristan.
A great song to look out over the snow-draped horizon to - preferably from within the cover of a blanket and with a hot cocoa sidearm. Brightness and Warm Pad go together like marshmallows and chocolate. This track being paired with a map named "Thaw" couldn't have been more appropriate!
This is one of my favs in the WAD too. I've always been partial to more chill and ambient instrumentals in general, so I'm the prime audience to this. Sorta unrelated thing I wanted to say. You said that the reference track for this was Dark Groove from the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 soundtrack. I have always been confused about this, since I've seen maps use that MIDI, but I have the JJ2 soundtrack and that song was never on it. So I was wondering for the longest time if it was on that version of the game with the extra levels or whatever. So I looked it up after listening to this. Turns out, the version of the soundtrack I downloaded just didn't have Dark Groove on it. It had all the other levels, but not that one. I am now rectifying this. So thanks for indirectly letting me know I was missing something!
This didn't immediately get my attention. Probably because of the aggressive gameplay I didn't notice this midi at first, yet, as the mayhem subsided and the ice started to melt this one really popped out to me. It's both a warm midi with that winter tingle. I really like it, it carries a steady energy but it always felt both hopeful, energetic, yet somehow subdued. Kinda takes me back to sonic 3 with the original ice cap zone theme, with it's initial tune being supercharged with groovy coldness, before giving way to a softer midi when the ice has all melted.
I listen this on repeat. Absolute top when talking about Eviternity. You and Stuart Rynn are my favorites!
This track gave me enough motivation to finish my 100% Tyson run of this map. I sometimes go to this map just to listen to the track.

The addicting brightness melody makes this track one of my personal favorites from Evi2 as well.

Heh, I always felt the warm pad was (ironically) perfect for cold/winter themes, but with that analogy I finally understand why :D

Ikr. When all the enemies are 100% and you start secret hunting is when you start hearing the awesome music.
I know a nice, soft groove in a doom map signifies an ass-kicking like ENTROPY, and I did get one from this map. Still a catchy tune!
