Regarding figuring out your stance: the sprinting block method doesn't work perfectly. Lots of people start overthinking and stand the wrong way round. Same thing with the push. The tried and true way is having people slide on slippery surfaces. Thick socks, laminated floor kind of deal. The way you slide is the way you skate.
@@moomoocowsly yeah I also slide goofy, but ride regular. I also stop on ice skates with my right foot forward. My dominant foot is definitely my right foot, but I like to push with that foot and it feels weird putting it in the front.
All good thoughts guys! And honestly, if they start on the wrong foot, not a big deal. If anything it'll help them get closer to riding switch faster, which arguably is a desired end goal for a lot of riders.

I'm going to college soon but have never riden a board but rllyyyyy wanna learn to make the walks easier, but mostly cause it looks so fun. And I'm really tied, cause the longboard is easier to learn, but the cruisers you've talked about like the dinghy seem really good and portable unlike the heavy 36-43" longboards I'm looking at, but also seems really hard to learn, especially being 6'3" as I am. I'll have a lot of time to learn though, so should I be patient in learning the dinghi, or just hawl along the longboard for awhile??
You can check out the Tugboat from Landyachtz which is essentially a scaled up Dinghy shape. It was my first board back in 2018 and has been a blast to ride around town, parks and campus. You can also check out the Raft which is another similar shape they launched this year as it’s a bit bigger than the Tugboat. Worst case scenario just buy both lmao
Great series idea! I had my heart set on Pantheon Pranayama as my first longboard...but..it's a TKP...and I intend on learning to pump to propel. so now not so sure about it after seeing your "how to pump" vid 😐
hmmmm, in that case it really really depends on the quality/brand of the trucks and the bushings you have. You still can pump on them, but it feels more like a classic skateboard when turning. You could always buy that board if you're really liking it as a deck only, and buy the components you desire separately.
@@OgdenSikel Pranayama will only take tkp. It was designed for Paris 149 street trucks. But like you suggested, it's such a high quality set up, should be ok.
