@@iancorzine to be "fair", watching again I pretty much got it; not to say the explanations weren't clear, I just wasn't ready for the intricacies. Made me think on how far the rabbit hole truly goes when it goes to copyright as a whole....
4 out of 5, messed up on the app clip, I thought since Mr. Beast was taking shots at the app that it may be something that the app owner could push back on, I'm glad that opinion can still be shared, the app probably got way more traction after that video anyway.

Love the scenarios you chose! Regarding the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up clip”: 1) since Mr. Beast included it as a small component of a much longer original work/video (transformation by greatly adding to the original) adjacent in sequence to footage parodying the clip, isn’t there at least some case for fair use; and 2) if Mr. Beast had scaled the size of the clip to fit within the parody footage (e.g. forming a side-by-side comparison of the original and the parody), would that make a more compelling case for fair use?
Really liked this format of video! It's one thing to religiously watch your videos, but sometimes, when it comes to applications, we are left a bit lost! Got 4 out of 5 ... Still need to learn more !!

@@iancorzine One of my videos got a copyright strike from music I added from... get this,... UA-cam's own song list in the editing menu! It was their music! I tried to exchange it with one of there newer songs. The software screwed up doing the swap and I gave up. UA-cam has hit me with three CRSs since I've had my account in 2006. I think I won 2 out of 3 CRS. After 4 years working with the Hot For Words UA-cam channel, they wore me and Marina down. We both only on rare occasions make a video.

I got 4/5 right. I would argue with you about #2 (the one I got wrong) because the attribute was not added (probably automatically) until they got caught by content ID. If the owner wanted to do a takedown then it wouldn't be fair use.

If you search on youtube, and then go to filter, click "creative commons". Can you use the footage that appears there? So people that have set their video to "creative commons (reuse allowed)
Can you just straight on use that footage?

I am so so tired of a certain company that is nailing my videos for copyright infringement when I literally pay for the music from legitimate royalty free companies. I am at the point I am not going to bother with music at all. Because its a matter of time before there are issues with even youtube library music I figure.
Mr. Beast should have hired Ian to sing the songs. then he wouldn‘t have copyright claims and it would be even more fun 😊

around 6:10 aside from all those factors u're discussing, the glaring thing that confuses me is HOW COULD 'I can't get up' be copyright in the FIRST PLACE?! That's just normal use of language! It's not as if they are saying, 'Coke is it'.... There's no product, name or service mentioned! If you can copyright just a normal phrase of English, USA has gone mad!

I just got a video taken down today. I used a 10 to 20 second clip of a lady missing a train while I explain how Amtrak will leave you if you don't get to the train on time. It is a 13 to 15 minutes video and I used 20 seconds or less. I disputed it and UA-cam said I didn't give them enough information.

Hi Mr. lawyer fair, I need ur help? I got copyright strike issued by unknown user claiming his working under UA-cam. Before this I made sure I followed youtube policy and that video I made was comic dub and I voice over it. And credit the original author owner and I made clear at the first opening of the video that is non-profit Eng dub. When I upload it 5-6 days ago and there was no restrictions problem until a unknown user issued a turndown video without explanation. And when I research on this "comeso GmbH" have many victims on UA-cam mostly targeted small youtubers.

I video City Sponsored Events. Parades, Park dedications, Street Fairs, Music in the Park Days, etc. What do I do about City sponsored Events that incorporate music.
I'm just reporting on the event, and won't have any control over their music choices.
Hey Garden! Thanks for watching! That's always a hard one. Make sure the mic is as close to your mouth as possible to cut down on background noise / music. Ultimately, you are not violating copyright law if the music is incidentally in the background. You just have to be aware of UA-cam content I.D.
