Anyone that can believe any old religious text are very gullible, irrational and don't care about the truth.
I always learn from Dr Ehrman and the discussion about "when prophesy fails," reminds me what Michael Wise was saying about Crisis Cults in his book, "The First Messiah." It unfortunately seems to explain the same phenomena today...Thank you for posting the interview.
I lost my faith at around 8- 9 years of age. I'm not far off being 50 years an atheist. It dawned on me just a few days ago, something that had never occurred to me, that it was the best thing to have ever happened to me.

Doesnt the bible say that the end is not something we are supposed to concern ourselves with? God said he would come like a theif in the night. That you either knew him or you didnt as far as the rapture was concerned.

This guy is attacking false religion which is known as Babylon the Great in Relation 17:5, because in chapter 18:2-4 it says to get out of Babylon (or get out of false religion) because it says in John 4:24 - God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with SPIRIT and TRUTH.” So then you see this guy is just attacking these religions that were created by Satan in 2Thessalonians chapter 2 goes on and explains that Satan in verse 9 has created these churches that preach the LIE, verse 11, because Satan is the father of the Lie ( John 8:44) It also states in 1Corinthians 1:10 - You must be completely United and there shall be NO DIVISIONS. Also Romans 16:17 - warns you about those who cause DIVISIONS and avoid them. But that is all we have today in Religions is Divided churches from the work of Satan (2 Th 2:9) So you can see that he didn’t stop in the garden of Eden and he is going to keep going until Jesus destroys him (Revelation 20:10)

Each book in the Old Testament has its own point of view in describing the relationship of man to the divine being and each book has its own perspective and complimentary to each other book

Suppose Jesus had not been put on the cross. No resurrection would have happened then. Jesus would have lived on to see his mission mature and complete before dying a natural death. In that case, what would Christianity have been like today? It seems a dead Jesus is the foundation of Christianity and not a living one!!!!!
The revelation of John is a warning of what may happen if we are not diligent about how we want our world to evolve in terms of scripture it’s a terrible warning

The bible is not history
I read everything by Bart Ehrman I could get my hands on when I researched the bible over twenty years ago.
It could be the Red Dragon sitting on the throne. The sacrifice is when he, Christ, Adam, wields the fiery sword guarding the way to the Tree of Life on the day of vengeance AS judgment, setting up the abomination of desolation in him, the temple without one stone left standing upon another. He then returns from this Apocalypse, within the same generation, with the chastisements of God, the just demands of the law according to the spirit, placed on him as the suffering servant fulfilling the way of the Lord in the desert.
In this sense, the Red Dragon is the personized Demon Sin set to devour the Christ child. Satan is "The" Dragon. Christ rules with an iron rod over David's kingdom, preserving it for him. David, the Morning Star, the Ancient Serpent of Old, becomes much greater than before, as the Ancient One of Days who takes a seat upon a throne on the Mount of Assembly,.
Jesus came to break down the gates of Hell (Abyss/ Netherworld/ Hades) to save the sinners behind its gates. He doesn't welcome them into the promised land until they have been refined and their dross removed, their impurities. Jesus is the everlasting source of salvation and the everlasting pool of fire and sulfur is for refining them, as silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin are refined. He is with your always, until the end of the ages. He then hands the kingdom over to David, his Father, and he ascends beyond the heavens themselves.
The warth of God is stored up in his storehouse for the sacrifice. There is only one sacrifice. Christ is born of a woman, born under the law. The bible presents this plan as the sacrifice. Adam's sin is prophetic of the sacrifice of being made to be sin. Christ, Adam, is a third party to this world and, indeed, the heavens themselves, as the mediator. David, the Morning Star, is the ruler of this world, your king who will be raised up for you.
The sin in the world is because the gates of hell have been opened. Those corrupted by sin are being purified. The Ancient Serpent of Old is the Cornerstone of his work of salvation begun as the first Adam.

The way of the Lord in the desert needs to be put into context with the previous passage:
Sacrifice: -Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins. (Isa 40:2 NABO)
Resurrection: -Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! (Isa 40:3 NABO)
Just as it is appointed that human beings die - be judged - appear a second time, (so also Christ) Heb 9:27-28.

With that said, that being a standard interpretation, this is David's kingdom. Christ is preserving it for him. Separating the promises of David from Christ's can be difficult because Christ also has the promises of David. W
