Being a TCS employee, I strongly believe TCS should be your last company before retirement because of the following points :
    1. Job Security - In TCS even if you are on the bench your job is secured. TCS never fired its employees despite having poor performance.
    2. Low Annual Hike & Promotion - Dont except more than 4-9 % annual hike every year. Hence, people who are in the early stage of their careers advised not to join TCS at the beginning
    3. Medical benefits are awesome and it includes your dependents as well as inlaws. They also provide free transportation.

Agree with all the points, just adding my perspective to this as well..
    1. It does not matter where you work as long as you are learning, getting a decent pay and have a high level of job satisfaction.
    2. It is not always true that those who work at product firms always keep building stuff. They will eventually have to support the stuff that they built or probably someone else built, which is no different from a support project in a service firm.
    3. It is okay to not know all the skills/technologies. If they demand 10 skills, it is okay to know only 3-4...rest of it can be upskilled towards.
    4. It is important to not to be part of office groups. Staying neutral and unbiased will do everyone a world of good.
    5. It is not necessary to be know-it-all in interviews. In interviews, you can afford to fail in anwering questions. It is all about preparation , confidence and performance on the day. What ultimately matters is the willingness to keep learning and improving.
    6. A professional should know how much of effort is required at what stage of the project. More effort at the beginning and lesser at the end is the best approach.

I'll tell u the harsh reality of ur life..

All thoughts nicely put forth. I agree. Even I have served in TCS for a long tenure and what l observed that the giant lT conglomerate was a superb career booster for folks joined in the period of 1995-2002. They scaled to a high level with global assignments and probably can eye for a retirement. I too feel that with so much competition now no one can label any company as a retirement company. Thanks for the insightful video

Agree 100% with you. I have been with Infosys from 20 years and that is the only company I worked for. I joined Infosys in 2003 as a trainee and continue to work from my home town Mangalore. WFH was un-thinkable 20 years back. I don’t plan to move out of Infosys for the great work I get to do from comfort of my home. Infosys is a good company to work and retire in. Agreed compensation will be comparable lower to other companies, but ther are things money won’t buy you.

TCS has been a vendor at multiple companies I worked at, I have found that as an organization TCS is lowest rung. They sell their services based on purely low billing and many C Level Execs fall for that BS. Quality of work is poor and substandard. Takes multiple testing cycles to complete the same task which a good programmer can do in a short time. Their senior management treats people like dirt. Your are just a money making machine for them. Folks who intend to join TCS please do yourself a favor and look for jobs in smaller firms where you can get a lot of experience working on multiple things. World is big and you do not need com-anis like TCS and Infosys to grow.

As an ex tcs'er I can tell that tcs is a Pucca government company. In my 3 years at tcs I was doing routine server maintenance where I just take care of support tickets of 3 kinds only. Life was completely chilled with salary with minimal work. I found out what I lost when I wanted to switch for an increase in salary. My skillset became outdated and I could not face interviews. I prepared on my own and only then I could catch a lucky break at a product based company.

    With all due respect sir,
    1. Behind every successful individual in corporate there is a good manager....no matter how much skill you have if you do not have good project and good manager, your skills won't matter. As such everyone wants to be a manager and have control over other's career. This is 95% of the times prevelant.
    2. Everyone will say I am having lot of work pressure typical IT rule. 😀
    3. Every single person want to be a developer and the reason can be found by looking at linkedIn and other job portals where 8/10 job profiles are based on development. Hence its a key profile in IT 😎 it is only people stuck in non-tech profiles understand the pain to sustain in Industry like QA, techical support roles etc

I had joined TCS as a fresher thinking that it would be a Govt. Job of 3-4 hours will chilling & having a good time to study for my competitive exams. But I wrong. I was allotted an Automotive testing Project which was very demanding. Even, there was no coding required.
However after sometime, I realised that it was the best Project in my early phase of work-life due to the following reasons ->
    1) We generally had to read spec requirements and test the same Scenarios on the Bench.(This improved my Practical ability as well as the ability to read between lines and understand what the System Requirements intended to convey for a particular Program). To find Issues, Textual analysis is the biggest Asset therefore reading and trying to understand yourself first before asking others is way important.
    2) If defects were found, we had to log JIRA ticket and mail the Client regarding the same. Here, I learnt to express the whole procedure which I executed on my Bench in simple sentences in points but complete ones which conveyed the main crux of the Issue along with possible reason.
    3) I was pretty afraid of seeing excel files filled with Numerical Values. However, in this Project, during Testing of calibration values again and again for different vehicles, my fear of Excel went away. Thanks to the support of my Seniors who were there to support in my doubts.
    4) When I mastered in this Project after 1.5 , whenever any new fresher would ask me doubts, I would try to explain to him/her so that they understand at one go (Different sytle of teaching different persons depedning upon their Capabilities). This greatly improved my teaching skills.
    5) Earlier I was bad at listening, my mind used to get distracted. However, since this Project used to belong to US and the client as well as SME Meetings were in bulk which I had to attend. My concentration to listen increased manifolds.
    6) I realised that every work be it small or so have an importance in the supply chain. We used to have Deadline date which if we were not able to complete it, impacted other Departments too & vice-versa.
    7) Last but not the least, I realised that Team Participation including having good rapport and friendship with Colleagues is also necessary . That's where HR Activities (outings, famous place visits, having dinner together)help otherwise too much of work and no Extracurriculars make work place really pathetic.

Also If a person has stayed in the same company for long I am okay with it, but if he has worked on the same project for more than 5-6 years, Its time to try something new. The comfort zone syndrome should not bite you. There is no generalize anywhere and everyone knows it. But what the majority is what counts for an opinion. And nothing wrong with it.

I think this type of mismatching communications get circulated for maybe one more reason.
A company sometimes buys another firm and the firm's employees suddenly become the company employees but only on their I cards.
There is no difference in the firm employee original culture after merger which may vary from the company culture.
I have been a part of this and after years of observation am saying this.
The situation becomes like an orange where there is one upper common covering but within multiple different sub cultures significantly varying from each other.
