For all this who dream of going to US especially, it’s not like olden days, now you earn and save more in India than in US. 1st you come on W2 and company pays you the prevailing wages which is the lower bound for your role and designation. 2nd approx 50% you pay as house rent. Hello sir, I'm reaching out for your advice. I have a non-IT background (Private Teacher) and have recently been learning web development online, focusing primarily on projects. My question is: Can someone like me, with skills and projects, successfully enter the IT field at the age of 30+? You are the right person that's why I am asking. Please suggest.
I am working in IT industry from last 10 years and doing coding and development. I'll spend 5 years more in development and coding after 15 years of experience I'll move to managerial roles and again work 10 years in managerial roles. After that I'll take happy retirement. I have 12 years experience, and I want to continue as developer till 20 years, but requirement for developer is upto max 12 to 15 years. What next, how will I survive ?
Fix your mindset first, we have to update the knowledge through out the career that's for sure. You may have problems with eyes and health, but fitness is very important. Don't run for your family, just keep some fun for you. I'm 45, till the time I get regular work in a company I will work, then I'm planning to do freelancing till whatever age. Again health is primary. Do whatever and keep your fitness. Though you might not be interested in moving to another job, but still attend interviews and keep yourself upto the market. Do not take unnecessary loans. I have not taken one so far. Just keep your mindset that the salary you get and the money you spend is not forever, should be ready to work with less salary also, should be ready to spend less
Sir , I lost my job recently I was working in zensar and was on bench , they asked me to resign . I went into depression and now recovered I am unable to crack interview right now which is making me feel bad , can you please help me how to deal this situation

Until or unless you are billable as senior resource (10+ years) and proactively picking any leadership skill for less than 5 members your job won't be issue I believe If you are technical person - be strong at it. Lead offshore team on self , try to be on frontline - this would set high expectations but people who are not doing this will be kicked out first rather the person who is on frontline For managerial start with scrum master , etc with technical or transition to changed release manager/ service owner like position. I think we are good then

Once any one reach at the age of 40-45 by nature and because of psychological reasons one fear of taking risks.. as they are not alone they have dependent family members kids, wife and aged patents.. etc. Best approach is to plan early retirement and create parellel source of income. If possible your spouse should be from Non IT field.. Also never stay long in any organisation switch in every 3 year this will help you to be updated and it boost your confidence too.
I am 59 and retiring now as a software solution architect. Retiring next year and for all possibilities, I will continue to work on contract basis as well!!!
100% True. Don't be deceived by a retirement age of 60 years. In the private sector it is 50 years or less. IT employees should think about retirement by 45. Beyond 45 years bonus. Plan accordingly. Going forward career aging will accelerate faster than ever in software industry.

No, there is no place for old guys in IT after a certain age. Thats why the smart ones ladder up in income and bust their butts while investing in side businesses in unrelated fields. You should be out of the business by 45 or so.
As someone working in the IT industry for 21+ years, I agree with your assessment. I'm managing to stay relevant, but I will admit that I think about this question everyday - What next?
@@ivar-jm7vj It hasn't been easy. I've remained an individual contributor for 21+ years. I kept learning new technologies whenever I got an opportunity. Not to remain relevant but because I was/am curious. I was always sincere with respect to my work and gave my best to whatever I did. That's the main reason I have remained relevant. I wasn't exactly the smartest or most technically knowledgeable. There have been others who were/are way smarter than me. But I will admit that it's getting increasingly harder to sustain my work especially in an environment that I don't enjoy working in. If you enjoy your work it is easier to sustain. So look at doing things you enjoy more than money.
IT is an exciting industry, If we keep learning in whatever capacity we can, i dont think Age will be bar. If the eagerness is lost then it is a problem. and yes money is important at the end of the day

Look, company cannot run without senior people. Juniors are for grunt work and seniors are for strategy and planning. One skill that never changes is your soft, communication, persuasion and sales skills. Technology keep on changing, so sooner you move away from these hard skills, you can easily work till 60 and beyond. All leadership roles start from age 40 and then peaks around 57 years. Just understand this and you should do good, if that's not your path then yes, you will be on verge.
Sure thing but how many seniors do the companies require. To keep so many seniors they also need the company to be growing and expanding. Indian ITs have been on a standstill since past 2015 or so. Peak in 57 is delusional. How many 57 yr olds do you see in ITs?? Hell how many 50 yr olds are there compared to even 40s
@@saptarshipal6743 This follows pyramid structure. Just like you get a large pool of engineers and only a few of them actually are absorbed in the market, same is the case here. A large number of engineers at low level doing grunt work, and slowly it tapers off. No business will run without senior management, there will always be job at higher level albeit less but you won't be out if you adapt yourself to your age and transition into leadership role. 57 is the peak, I am talking about VP, MD, C level role.

@@surajbokade66 The chance of India becoming prosperous and thriving economy with development and democracy in the near future is very far from the truth unfortunately. In fact it's the opposite. I had to reimmigrate back to Australia from India after more than 15 years due to religious polarization, communalism, casteism, discrimination, economic downturns and rampant corruption, to name a few. India is a lost cause unless people change themselves. Unfortunate but very true facts with evidences point towards a very dangerous and downwards trend in India.
More sensible video. I am at 40 already facing the heat.
Very relevant for who are all in 40+ in IT companies.
For all this who dream of going to US especially, it’s not like olden days, now you earn and save more in India than in US.
1st you come on W2 and company pays you the prevailing wages which is the lower bound for your role and designation.
2nd approx 50% you pay as house rent.
So you barely save what you used to in India, on top of that you itself have to play role of all bai(maid), so there is no luxury too which you have in India.
Yes, I agree with your words are true and reality in the current situation and these are important opinions helpful to all💯
Makes sense
Pls share more such experience which helps young crowd
I am sorry but I feel you are just trying to instil fear in people, just because you had bad experiences. You are just trying to use that fear to make money.

Hello sir,
I'm reaching out for your advice.
My age will be 45 years at that time.
And by 45 you will not retire .
With income saved from 25 years, you can't live another 40 years. That's true even if you have saved few crores.
Much needed video 👌
Thanks Suhail
It make sense and was really helpful!
I am 51 years and still working as a SAP consultant..I was never on bench
Good video. Thanks.👍
This willl save so many people .
Very genuine analysis !!
Few jobs, excessive supply.Migrate migrate migrate... inspite of all drawbacks people say, still better migrating.
Migrating? But what benefit 🤔. Is there much demand for the supply?
@@soldierking6859There is no demand at least in US unless you are a citizen. No scope for visa holders unless you are willing to work in contract jobs. More jobs are being outsourced now than ever before.

Sir, please provide some side hustle ideas in details like if think about freelancing then how it is possible along with full time job or after quit the job, then only it is possible
AI in software development is still nightmare, you are simply following and amplifying the hype, i can vouch that being software architect.
Sir , I lost my job recently I was working in zensar and was on bench , they asked me to resign . I went into depression and now recovered I am unable to crack interview right now which is making me feel bad , can you please help me how to deal this situation
Try to learn the new technology related to your pervious role. For example , In udemy there are so many courses is available related to IT field and choose related to yourself.
Very good advice
Thank you for sharing very informative content. Actually, I am going through it whatever you said in this video and you are right, I have 20 years of experience in IT industry with technical background and I laid off very recently!
Very sad to hear that 😢... Can you please tell how are you planning ahead? Are you getting interview calls?
@@ivar-jm7vj thanks for your comment. Now a days I’m getting few calls. But I’m searching only remote freelance or contract works to settle down at my hometown as the same situation happens anytime in near future!
Until or unless you are billable as senior resource (10+ years) and proactively picking any leadership skill for less than 5 members your job won't be issue I believe
If you are technical person - be strong at it. Lead offshore team on self , try to be on frontline - this would set high expectations but people who are not doing this will be kicked out first rather the person who is on frontline
For managerial start with scrum master , etc with technical or transition to changed release manager/ service owner like position.
I think we are good then
IT company should make retirement age to 50...there is huge influx of college kids..they wont get job if place is not created..
Sorry to say that

Survival. No worry about reskill or at least know what is what. No need to interact much with business . Focus people management
Any policy execute for reskill. They know well how will not impact us. If you are application manager or competency manager

Can you please tell how did you manage to have 20+ years into IT because now-a-days even at 15 years experience, people are getting less chances
If the eagerness is lost then it is a problem. and yes money is important at the end of the day
Dedollarization is likely to happen soon, and once the financial reset button is hit, all IT employees' salaries may be reduced by 50%. Additionally, many jobs may shift to Latin American countries and South African countries and your job is going to replaced by BOTS. Some of them already started

57 is the peak, I am talking about VP, MD, C level role.

it started with quality and capability people however with y2k many colleges with self called tier 1 colleges created mou with companies sending mostly non computer science candidates from mechanical, electrical, civil and food not to become attrition and now layoffs and resignation taking place in bulks
you have to work like fresher till you retire if you have to survive and always be latest and manager and architect posting not making sense anymore as there are ready made stack of technologies u dont have to solution anything special . Everyone expect you to be individual contributor although u will be given architect title as already enough managers are there to do people management or non coding work. Be latest and do smart and hardwork. if u have bought house and paid bill by 45 you should be fine.
