Lex Luthor meets the new Lex Luthor this week as we sit down with Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, About a Boy) for a conversation about his prep for the role, super hero pressure in the age of social media, and the art of shaving your head. Nicholas shared his hesitancy of progressing as a child actor (up until About a Boy) and how a moment of losing anonymity almost lead to him quitting. We also talk about geeking out when Anthony Hopkins hissed, his appreciation for Clint Eastwood’s dark humor, and whether or not Nicholas Cage went to bat for him during their second film together.

"Adaptation" and "Raising Arizona" are two of my favourite Nicolas Cage films. I don't think any one else could've done as well playing his character in either of those films. That's how good he was! But also he was also brilliant in "Weather Man" & "Matchstick Men" and a slew of other films. He's simply an amazing actor. I also love that Nicholas Hoult has succeeded in Hollywood. I've watched him grow up in movies. He was great in "About a Boy".
Agree!!! Matchstick Men never gets enough love! (Neither does Weather Man for that matter!)
It's Lex interviewing Lex.
And adaptation is fantastic.
Nicholas Hoult has definitely had a huge glow up since his child star days, and I'm pleased that he's thriving in his adult career as well.
He hasn't had a huge glow up. He has always been a talented actor not just recently as an adult and has been in 1 to 2 movies per year since wah wah in 2005 and a plethera of tv shows since about a boy in 2003
@@upurkilt7246Okay, what this 50+ year old believe they mean by glow up is that now he is a handsome young man. Not to be mean, but some child stars don’t fare so well in the looks department when they grow up.
Nicolas Cage never phones it in, no matter how weird or lame the movie is. That is to be admired.
yeah dude, the cheapest dumbest idea for a movie, Pig, was AMAZING.
The world needs to hear Hoult’s impression of Nic Cage.
The shear amount of movies Nic Caga has done means he's probably worked with almost everyone at one point or another.
The Seven Degrees of Nic Cage. 😂
caga lol
Play the one degree of separation with nic cage!!
Nic caga 😂
He’s got 2 horror
Movies on the way as we speak! Love the man. He’s able to get away with horrible films some
How because we all know he’s got about 5 killer movies that come out after the 2 horrible ones. He’s a one of a kind. I just watched PIG for the first time. Holy hell. 10/10!
Both Nic’s were fantastic in Renfield! Loved the movie!
My favorite and most hated question : what’s your fav Nic cage movie? It’s impossible! And don’t say raising Arizona! I love so man. Of off them that end in MAN are def in my top 10! The matchstick man, the weatherman and the family man! All bangers! He’s so damn good ! 8mm is amazing, Joe rules, a lot of his new stuff like PIG, sympathy for the devil, Dream scenario, massive talent.... I mean it’s easier to ask what’s your fav weird, so bad they’re great Cage movies. First thing I think of is Drive Angry! Love it. It’s like Goslings movie DRIVE if TEMU and Wish made a remake.
Didn't realize that's the kid in The Weatherman. Loved that movie. Seen it many times. Nicholas Cage is in about 13 or so favorite films of mine. Snake Eyes and 8mm are among those movies. Also wish his 'Next' film had a sequel to it that continued off where it left off. A bit too late for that now though.
Lord Of War is my fave Nic Cage film
Very disturbing movie but great
Is that the arms dealer one ? If so, I thought it was fantastic
@@kizzagaming6523 yes it's the arms dealer one, based on an actual person. I can't think of his name at the moment but he was called the merchant of death if memory serves
Sequel coming…

Nick Cage plays a great Nick Cage. If ever I needed someone to play Nick Cage I would so get Nick Cage. Greatest Actor Ever.
Face off, Con Air, gone in 60 seconds are great.
those are my favorites. 8mm is also really good.
The Rock was awesome as well.
Kick Ass
@@Davy_R I’ve always heard great things about it, just haven’t watched yet.
Cage is so famous that it is hard to see the role before seeing him, but I will always call him Memphis first when I watch "Gone in 60 seconds."
Also, shout out to one of the best Doctor Who actors as the awesome antagonist.
Cage is awesome. He's one of the most entertaining actors to watch, and he's played a crazy range of characters. He doesn't call himself the "California Klaus Kinski" for nothing. People who think he's just a big joke simply don't get it.
Matchstick Men is a great movie. Nic Cage and Sam Rockwell.
Yeah brilliant flick.
I am really surprised this channel doesn't have more subscribers with the amount of guests that come on here
Adaptation is also my favorite Nic cage film. saw it the theater way back when. after that I like Mandy, Pig and Wild at Heart.
Nicolas Cage is a great actor and I did like him in Redfield. My favorite Nicholas Cage movie would be one that I own on DVD, Ghost Rider. Even though I hear he's more into Superman, I thought he made a really good Ghost Rider.
I liked "Renfield" and I liked both Nicholas' in it. My favorite Nic Cage movie is "Next". But it was 'Raising Arizona' that got my attention first.
Yes!!! Adaptation is the best, favorite movie of all time, genuinely. I think it was 2002
Nicholas Hoult should be the next James Bond.
This is the first suggestion in all the speculation that has intrigued me.
In a world where everyone complains about sequels, remakes and reboots, it astounds me how people always find ways to ruin perfectly good careers by going "hey, this guy is special. He should be in a sequel, remake or reboot".
I said Adaptation immidiatelly, better role than Leaving Las Vegas, Arizona Baby, Lord of War and all that. I'm pretty sure firstly that it's a first time one actor is playing two characters in one scene and he does it so fluently with the brothers having like the twin thru-line you feelbwith them but them still being so differend characters. I anyway love the movie just as an meta idea of Kaufman not knowing how to adapt the best-seller about the orchideas into a script and ending up with what it is. Just a great movie and performance.
I'm not one bit ashamed of saying it, my fave nic cage film is the family man! Every Xmas I watch it but I've liked everything I've seen him in. My fave hoult film is still about a boy, everytime he kills that duck it makes me laugh and you can't more than than that.
*That's high praise!*
Bringing out the Dead was great too. To me, it felt a bit like a more serious Fear and Loathing
Adaptation is go good, and so bizarre. Cage is great in it.
Adaptation makes me wish filmmakers would multiply Nic Cage more often.
Matchstick Men is my fav Nic Cage movie
Leaving Las Vegas was his Renaissance
Renfield was a great movie
Great clip🤩not seen many Nicolas Cage movies but I do like ”City of Angels”🙂
Raising Arizona, Adaption, Pig, Mandy, Matchstick Men, get on it! Has a horror flick called Longlegs coming out this year as well, looks absolutely nuts.
Best Nick Cage film is an easy one for me...Moonstruck
Wild at heart
I'm actually looking forward to him being Lex Luthor. Finally put some respect back into that Villain Character
He was great in Con Air….as was the whole cast.
The dog had something to say...i didn't quite catch it
Love the flag of Indiana!!!
I know Fury Road was a Furious focused film but ...he stole the show. I thought he was electric.
He and john cusak are the best at hamming it up for bad movies, where you can tell they just said fuck it im making it fun for me at least.
Nicolas / Nic Cage
I need a new game …. Six degrees of Nicholas Cage!
Cage was f*cking awesome as Dracula. Fact.
Face Off!!!! #1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we r a familiar
Great T-shirt dude. Are you a Hoosier? Edit: Nevermind, I googled you. Kentuckiana dude.
Each clip of this podcast that I see, the host always assumes something that isn't true lol.
Nicholas could play Tom Cruise’s son, they look a lot alike.
is that lex luthor
National Treasure #1
Nicholas Hoult should have been the next Bond, but I guess we're getting that cardboard cutout Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Sometimes life is unfair.
No good actor deserves to be put in a dead-end role like James Bond. The story is walking on nothing but the nostalgia of people nobody should ever listen to. I am sad for Aaron. But to your point: What is James Bond if not the definition of a cardboard cutout?
Drive Angry
LEAVING LAS VEGAS
LORD OF WAR
What the dog doin?
how about a Batman Beyond movie with Mark Strong and Nick Hoult... 😎😎
Con Air
Renfield was horrible.
Agree.
It was an animated live action movie from an animated director. Had its moments. Nick and Nic were great but its too bad the mob and cop stuff sucked
Sad nobody is calling Michael to work with, so now he has to keep reliving Smallville to seem relevant
Or he’s just happy doing a podcast
Leaving Las Vegas is his best film.
Pig was really good, but not a lot of people watched it.
