Not many Sony APSC creators are left on UA-cam, Just yourself, Jason Vong, and up and coming Mark Bernnett. Please do not abandon us APSC users! Thanks for the content, Arthur!
Arthur love that you are always willing to stay with you core if aps-c. Best aps-c channel on UA-cam. That being said, this 20mm is interesting. I would love the f1.4 and the images are beautiful. Downside is the weight. If you are a professional then the weight does not matter!! Great video as always!!
Great reviews Art!
Артур, спасибо за твои работы! Смотрю каждое видео с огромным удовольствием, снимаю на Sony APS-C для себя. Успехов и процветания!
Love this! We appreciate your support!
Sigma is just killing it with all the recent lenses for both APS-c and full frame. Sony better be worried some with hiw cheap these options are. Now if only they can hurry up and make the 70-200mm f2.8 already.
I own the 24-70 Sigma art lens and it's been very useful for me.
Sigma keeps knocking it out of the park with it's E-Mount lenses
Thank you for your dedication to Sony APS-C.
Good review as always, but how exactly does the rear filter work? I mean, what filters fit in there?
Nice. Still keep in mind: yes the Sony 1.8 has focus breathing, but it´s compensated 100% incam ...
Hello Arthur I would love to see how this 20mm lens compares to viltrox 13mm f1.4 on an aps-c camera ..since it makes an effective 20mm lens on a full frame
Nice for astro. Can't think of another application, even night street shooting, to justify the size, weight or cost when I can use a f2.8, at 1/4 size and weight and 52mm filters, vs the 82mm on this one, at less than half the cost. Thanks for the review.
For questions of weight I'd opt for the Sony 20mm G.
Can be used in APS-C cameras
man I have been checkin this lens out for a loong time I have the 28mm one of the sharpest aside from the 40mm sigma....the 20 looks dope though..so many lenses..
The sigma fan boy it is. HAHAHA. you're the one who made me a sigma fan boy also hahaha. I can see that they are releasing a version specifically for mirrorless. hopefully they'll release version for 50mm!
Hope for a apsc version like a 12mm or something
I have a decent lens library of both APSC and Full Frame E-mount now. I’m not dropping my crop bodies anytime soon. Both serve a purpose. I will stop buying lenses for a while. Gotta get out and shoot more!
No doubt this is a great lens but the size/weight tradeoff between this and the 24 1.4 or the 20 2.0 or the Sony 20 1.8 G (depending on if you’re willing to trade off focal length or speed) is tough for someone who wants a walk around
If I did'nt have any 20mm lens, I definitely will buy this lens. Currently I have FE 20mm f1.8 and it does'nt make any sense for me to upgrade to this sigma lens.
Now they could release 28-70 f2 that rumours around. I need it to complement my 16-35 gm
I would have bought this lens if I don't already have the original 20mm f/1.4 DG ART. 20mm and f/1.4 is so beautiful.
I bought a Nikon d7200. Kindly recommend for me the sharpest all around lens for my travel photography. I will capture landscape, architecture & cars, boats and any other subjects I may find attractive. Am confused. Lens reviews are so many each reviewer with his own opinion. I love details.
Was thinking of 18-200 Nikon, or 18-300 Tamron or 24-200 Nikon or 18-200sigma. I am just confused.
Mannnnn if it wasnt for the focus breathing issue i would sooo be down for this lens.
Any lens can do good at noon. Maybe some low light stuff next time. Sometimes you gotta’ feed your ride some speed.
Both 70-200 and 50 DN Art, which cover more use cases, have been delayed for too long.
Is it stupid to ask how these would be for APS-C cameras? Would you ever get one for APS-C?
They would work well, it will just limit the field of view to make it appear as a 30mm on your aps-c. If you ever plan on getting a full-frame camera then you can use it with that too obviously. That's one benefit of the Sony e-mount system. You can also use your current aps-c lenses on the full frame camera too.
Their performance for APS-C may be different from their performance on Full Frame. Actually, I don't know specifically for the 24mm F/1.4 Art, but the 20mm F/1.4 Art amazingly performs just as well on APS-C, with the added bonus of improved vignette performance.
You wont get f1.4 depth of field though. IMHO it would be kinda silly to buy this and stick it on an APS-C... but YMMV.
Is the 20mm f/1.4 full frame lens if you use it on an APS-C camera, will it be 13mm f/1.4? Or will it remain on its written measure of 20mm f/1.4?
I’ll tell you the answer rn is it will be 30mm 1.4 full frame equivalent. Here’s the explanation, if you’re interested: a 13mm 1.4 aps-c lens is a 20(19.5)mm 1.4 full frame equivalent when calculating the 1.5x crop factor. Since this lens is already 20mm 1.4 you then have to add the 1.5x crop factor to this focal length making it 30mm 1.4 full frame equivalent :).

Thanks for answering my question!
I think the aperture is also x1.5
How does it compare to the Sony 11mm f1.8 on APSC vs sigma 20mm f1.4 on FF?
The 11mm is wider. This is more a competitor for the viltrox 13mm on APSC.
@@ArthurR would like to see that comparison.

Go for either the Sony 20mm 1.8 G or the Voigtländer Nokton 21mm 1.4
Love 20mm, but Sony Rules
Waiting you gift me your a6100.
Big fan from. 😂😁
The Sony G is way better than this.
definitely not. both in price and in optical quality it even surpasses a sony gmaster. and in case you didn't know sony g lenses have too much barrel distortion... for that price It sucks 🤮
I agree, it is optically also close to perfect also in the corners, without almost no barrel distortion (unlike what commenter below said) it's super light. Yes it's f1.8 instead of f1.4 and has a few less button options, but it is a great lens, also the AF for video works perfect.
It's not 100% perfect, but it comes close.
This new Sigma is definitely also a great lens, but it also has a few minus point, where the Sony is better.
