I tend to think if McMahon hadn’t made the big push to go national, then global, it would have been Crockett or someone. The timeline might have changed. But pro wrestling isn’t going away, in spite of crapola like AEW muddying the waters.

Georgia was basically national long before Vince, since they were on TBS. All they needed to do was to hold shows outside of their area and that may have happened with Ted Turner getting into their ear more. Crockett? Never. Without Black Saturday they never end up on TBS and thus never national, plus, they were already in financial troubles long before.

I digress with Ted on wrestling would have died. We go to the local VFW once a month, and watch live wrestling from a small promotion. The crowds have only gotten larger over time, and eventually will outgrow the facility!

Wrestling would have anyways died by the 2000s if Vince hadn't made WWF a global promotion.
Now people know WWE and go to watch a WWE event rather than a Star.
I wish more more promotions like tna existed in the 2000s.
Wrestling is doomed today because we will never get a super hero like Hogan or another Lex Luger or Randy savage.
All we have been getting is the next Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Dean Malenko, too many Mexican type wrestlers. And all boring workrate wrestlers who work 5 star matches and make the IWC and Dave meltzer happy.
