The Nazi’s still to this day had the best look that I’m aware of. Specifically the dark uniforms. The boots obviously have to be mentioned also. Pretty awesome. Marine Dress Blues look fantastic, but, more important, the man inside each is a United States Marine! That's the real secret.
The Highlanders' uniform stems from traditions garnered over 400 years of campaigning at home and overseas. Each piece - kilt, sporran, doublet, glengarry etc has its own story and standard of appearance. Scots are proud of their history and traditions. We are proud of the uniform and regalia. Hoorah, sir. Well done.
Misrepresenting Spain there a little. The uniform of the Legión is not supposed to be elegant but very masculine and rough looking. Also, you should check out the uniform of the Spanish Regulares. Fun fact, idk if you knew, but the American Marine Corps uniform is copied from the Spanish Infantería de Marina uniform (our marines, the oldest Marine Corp in history) and the red line on the trousers signifies that it's a Royal unit, as we are a Monarchy, the US Marines copied the uniform without actually knowing the reason to many of its symbols. The US Marines copying the uniform is actually historical fact.
Genuine Question: Do you have any research supporting that? I don't disagree, but I find it more plausible that it was the British Royal Marines that copied Spain first, then the USMC copied them, as most American military traditions, especially naval traditions, are inspired by British ones
no se tu eh, pero igualmente me parece el uniforme un poco caca.
@@hans9862 that's how it was taught to me in military camp, when we studied theory of tactics, history and uniforms. But even if it was a two stage copy it's still copied from Spain. Although if you compare the three of them the US uniform is way more similar to the Spanish than to the British.
The marine blood stripe isnt there as a copy. The blood stripe comes from US Army tradition. It was adopted in 1837. Takes only a moment to look that up.
A very good list, but it's sorely missing one entry: Italian carabinieri, ordinary uniform, winter version with white cross-belt, with or without cape. It should really be in there. And yes, it counts, because they are officially a military force.
Yes the carabiniery uniform is between hsld and godlike I expected them to be on this list. But then again they had a world renowned fashion designer create that uniform. I worked with the carabiniere great professionals. Also my USAF flirted with bringing the Gen. Mitchell uniform in blue that would have been badass. They also should bring back the whites for officers and SNCOs. Also the 1549 uniform was the best the USAF had.

There's no way an Italian or French is not on top of every style list. That goes against nature.

How could you miss the iconic UK Guards regiments that wear bearskins? Interestingly, though the uniforms look alike, the button order dictates the regiment.

Antonio I'm not sure about Pakistan. But those indian gentlemen are armed police personnel (thus the khaki colour) from the border security force, and not from the indian army that usually wear Olive green uniforms. Great video otherwise, i was expecting the Italian military police as well 😂
It's the Punjab rangers on the Pakistani side, also a non-army paramilitary force but not part of the police either. It's their usual uniform with some embellishments for the ceremonial occasion.
Yes they are not army
@@rdizzle2050se yeah same here, "armed police" is basically for formality, waise duty wise it's a paramilitary force, the crux is basically that Police comes under state government and armed police under central government.

The way the tomb sentinels wear the army uniform really brings the blues up. Especially the cold weather version. It should be the standard
In Master and Commander, the formal Royal Marine uniform that Captain Howard wore to dinner was very impressive.
I actually really like the Tower of London Guard uniforms. It's just tradition. It's the same reason they still carry around spears. It's just a ceremonial role that's there to honor tradition and pay homage to the old British Empire.
It predates the Empire too, so fashion from 250 plus years ago would certainly be different compared today
Their history dates back 536 years to the first Tudor Monarch so it isn't surprising that fashions have changed since then, they even predate Britain as a concept
Every time I see a picture of that uniform I have the urge to buy some gin. 🥃
These guys perform at our local circus sometimes. 10/10 would watch again.
I'd go for their more daily dress (not sure what the proper term is) at Tower of London similar, but more simple and still pretty boss looking.

Royal Navy, the sailor's uniform that inspired pretty much every other Navy in the world. Each bit has a symbolism or meaning attached to it.
I will do a video on the Royal Navy sailor's uniform at some point.
Hey Antonio, have you seen the new Army Class A's? The pinkys? I'm a Marine, but this WW2 uniform really does bring that tradition to the front. It's replacing that Army Service Uniform you mentioned. Pretty Awesome
Im not in the military, but the new Army Class A's look great, and get bonus points for being historical. The Dress Blues to me just never looked good. The jacket seemed to be waaaaaaay too long. The Dress Greens from the Vietnam era till the Blues looked far better
One problem I have with the new Army uniforms is every time I see them I think WWII. In fact the first few times I saw them I thought I was looking at WWII re-enactors. I don't think of today's modern army. Maybe it would be different if they had always worn those uniforms - like the USMC dress blues, which have been around practically unchanged for 100 years and have become iconic and timeless.

Nice work! Of course, this video may last for hours, including dozens of military uniforms. In my opinion, you could also comment one more: the classic green - khaki formal british army #2 dress. It is a very common army uniform in lots of armies nowadays (like the Greek Army), we see it often in movies and it would be very interesting to hear your opinion about it!
Would be nice to see a vid on the Queen's Guards, and redcoat uniform history
The redcoat guards uniform looks cool and really stand out from the rest and had the feel of a Royal's servant
There are plently of videos around. Try looking up Brandon.F He has a masters in Hystory from oxford and is one of the most intelligent historians i have ever seen on youtube. I think he does one on the guards.
Even as a retired Naval Officer, I have to agree that the Corps has the best "figgen" dress uniforms. Classic, strong, simple. You do need to stop by the VFW or AL more often because you go some info wrong regarding the Navy. We've had Dress Whites (Chockers) for ever; like since before WW2. And, enlisted still have Dress Whites and Dress Blues (Crackerjacks). Semper Fidelis, my friend.
I was just about to mention this myself regarding the Navy dress whites. I think he might have gotten confused between the Navy and the Marines. The Marines were the ones who unauthorized the all white dress officer uniform for wear on October 1st, 2000.
Yes sir, I mentioned the Chocker whites. Those are the sexiest uniforms around. Wish I could have gotten a set, but, as an E-5....not gonna happen.
I didn't find this comment until way after I had already posted my comment that covered pretty much what you said when I gave some comments about the Navy and other service uniforms as well.
I have to say, after being in the 82nd ABN DIV, I'm pretty partial to the U.S. Army Paratroopers uniform with the maroon beret and bloused trouser. I think after the Marine corps uniform the Airborne has the best uniform
You could go country by country over the course of numerous episodes, assign points and then have a round-up episode where a winner is declared. Also, you could go era by era, or war by war and look at the good and bad from each period. You would have to stipulate whether you're looking at standard dress, utility, ceremonial, mess-dress, etc. Several services have ceremonial uniforms that are much nicer than the typical "dress". The honor guards of the Air Force, Army and Navy look stunning and rival the Marines.
Sorry, but the only uniform that ever rivaled the Dress Blues (I would say surpass it) were the nazi SS uniforms. Hands down, best uniform of all time.

The fact that he put the Spanish Legion Iconic traditional uniform under the ridiculous, all over the top covered in medals, of the north korean uniform, kills me.
At least the Legion has a reason to keep the uniform, it descends form their fight on Africa where the hot climate made mandatory to have this uniform style, just look at british or French ones, plus the open chest symbolize that they arent afraid to anything, they go open chest towards the enemy, yeah a bit too old school manly thinking, but, make sense, as they saying and anthem is that they are the boyfriends of Death, they dont fear death.
Plus they have perfect uniforms, clean, well suited, colored match, unlike the north koreans, but what ever.
Another thing to consider, Spain do have a lot of uniforms, Marine, Army, African Troops, Old units like the Tercios or the royal army which both have traditional uniforms similar to the ones in norway.
The Royal Academy dress uniform in Sandhurst is pretty god tier as well. Definitely agree the USMC looks too freaking clean though, definitely number 1. Going off to bootcamp tomorrow for the Army. Wish I could swap uniforms with the Marines lol

Tun Tavern, Dan Daly, Barbary Prates (several years of "stomping mudholes" in/around Triopoli") Chesty Puller, Guadalcanal, island-hopping to Japan, Vietnam, Middle East. Love it all!
Those "shakos" worn by the Argentine Mounted Grenadiers were a pretty common piece of kit during the early to mid 19th century. It was designed to keep your head from getting cleaved or caved in by a cavalry saber. Yes, it does make them look a bit intimidating too.
I think grenadiers in general have hats like that because they dont get on the way of the arm's path when throwing grenades
@@steampunkastronaut7081 ya know, that could've been a fringe benefit of such a piece of gear. The shako, though, was worn by every soldier in the armies of the 1800-1850 period, not just grenadiers. It would appear that even military uniforms are not immune to fashion trends.

This was one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen today!
I'm obviously biased as a Filipino but one of the more unique ones out there today is the parade/ceremonial uniforms of the Philippine Army Security & Escort Battalion. I think it's the only modern unit I've seen that still uses "rayadillo" pattern cloth (small blue and white stripes that appear solid blue-grey from afar) that the Spanish designed in the 19th century for tropical climate uniforms. The Phil. Army traces its origins to our revolution against Spain in the 1890s so the ceremonial uniform was designed as a modern interpretation of our revolutionary-era rayadillo-pattern uniforms. Afaik rayadillo fell out of use in favor of khaki but it looks really neat in parades. Look for the ones with the blue-grey uniforms w/ red trims and black belts, not the green, gold, and white ones (the latter is an army band uniform but i think SEB wore something similar before they fully transitioned to the rayadillo)
Rayadillo in Spain, is called “milrayas” and its still popular for summer shorts, specially on both small kids and older guys.
They look dope af. But the modern tac boots does not mix well with the traditional uniform. It looks….tacky
Phil Marine Corps dress blues are Chesty Puller grade for me as well.
Hola 👋🏼🇪🇦
Love it 👍👍👍
I would love you to see the Croatian honour guard battalion!
And in case you didn't know, the Yeomen of the Guard were formed in 1485, 290 years before your unit, and their uniforms are from 1552. That's why they wear them.
Who gives a flying fuk 😜😂
Pretty neat but what about the Royal Navy or La garde républicaine
The army pinks and greens go so hard. I really dislike the dress blues but bringing back the pinks and greens was fantastic
Always under-appreciated how much design thought goes in to building uniforms. Would love to see you check out the dress uniforms of the combat arms units in India, Pakistan, China, UK, Canada etc.
As a retired Navy Chief, I'm here to tell you that the choker dress whites in the current state have been around since WWII for Officers and Chiefs. The cracker jacks returned for E6 and below in the early 80s and except for the addition of piping, are unchanged since.
Agreed, another retired Chief here also, I can state with certainty, that the choker whites are still going strong in the US Navy
The one thing liked about the E6 and below uniform was the simplicity. The blue Melton Wool held up well, didn't get wrinkled and didn't show sweat stains. It was also warm in the Winter. There are a few decorations like the unit badges. I've never seen a SEAL wearing that badge plus a Master Diver badge and a UDT badge who also had a recruiter badge. A well tailored uniform on a thin to average framed sailor is sharp. On an overweight one, NO. Most of us lose that trim look in our late 30s and 40s but can still look sharp. A blouse that balloons out with a large gap at the bottom isn't good looking. Navy personnel with a few exceptions don't do a lot of strenuous work and many of the jobs have a lot sitting. Sailors in sedentary jobs need to work to keep the weight off.
I liked the work uniform, dungarees and chambray shirt. I have a cruise book from the USS Huron 1919-1921 and everyone in it is wearing them. In 1971 I was issued the new working uniform with the pullover blouse. As soon as they wore out I bought Seafarers to replace them. Sharp looking dungarees and shirts and permanent press. I was glad to have them instead of the greens the rest of my department had because they'd been in Seabee battalions. I was in public works for my four years and only got to a battalion in the Reserves. (RNMCB 21). I finally got greens and they were a pain. The heavily starched 8 point cap from the Marines, blousing springs, and everything had to be ironed. At that time I was also issued the new dress uniform with the sports coat and hard cap. Did anyone like that uniform?
I was in the tropics and wore white frequently. A very blah uniform. I had some contact with the British Navy and theirs looked much nicer with the piping. I see that they've done that to US Navy uniforms and looks very sharp. The only real problem with whites is keeping them clean. Within a couple of hours they'd be wrinkled and starting to show stains from your hands.
Some of the Seabees thought we should have a different uniform using combat/construction boots, blousing springs and a blue dickey under the blouse. Fortunately the powers that be rejected that idea. It's one Navy and uniform means just that.
Dindn't mention that we still have the blues??
@@MrJedi5150 Those are ceremonial dressings worn over the shoes and pants for things like colorguard. They’re just covering the bell bottoms, they’re still going strong
OUTSTANDING!!!! As a fellow DevilDog I agree with this line-up.
Great start to the list XD
0:32 I am spanish, what you said is an insult, their uniform is like that because they open themselves to death for their country, not like the Marines, you have lost a sub, my friend.
El no tiene ni idea es un ignorante
