Conan doesn’t even need guests. He can pull out his own employees and they are ten times funnier than any celebrity could be.
If I was allowed to livestream anything in any company/show, I'd have a full camera crew in Conan's offices for a day just watching them. It would be funnier than any of the crap Jimmy Fallon puts out...
Which is funny because Conan needs celebrities to have a show, and to have a staff. It's as if the celebrities and guests are there just for Conan to have a staff of people to torment.

@@blenzus8059 no how skits usually work is that writers would write certain topics and scenarios to talk about/be in. But most of the actual dialogues and development is improvised, then you edit/cut the footage down to get the best bits. Certain sketches are 100% scripted down to each line of dialogue, but you can tell that's not the case with these types of remotes.

I think what works is that both Sona or Jordan play an antagonistic force against Conan. Seeing stupid people (obviously not really, i just mean as a bit) fight over stupid stuff is classic comedy. Conan and Jordan in particular tend to argue over super petty stuff.

The story goes---Sona was interviewing for another position, but Conan thought she was interviewing to be his assistant. He liked her, and gave her the job. Even the way those two met, was wacky! They're a living, breathing, sitcom!
I absolutely adore Sona! Conan, can Sona be your assistant, forever? And Sona, can you be Conan's assistant, forever? Any and all new endeavors you partake in Conan, and if it is feasibly possible, take Sona with you!
They are great on the podcast together.
Sona was on Andy's podcast, that's mostly correct - she was applying for a job with the network promotions department and Conan's team was taking those resumes as well because he was looking for an assistant, and someone she knew tipped her off, she met with Conan's team,then him and then like two days later was his assistant.
Conan is one of a kind. I love his relationship he had with his staff. They clearly love him as a boss cuz he’s hilarious.

Honestly, I come back to this every few months. I love it so much.
This is why Conan rocks. He actually has a real relationship with his assistant and staff unlike Ellen. When Conan made the jump from NYC to LA years ago, his whole staff and crew came and he made sure everything was paid for. When he got canned from NBC, he took his payout money and used it to pay his staff and crew during that whole chaotic time. He really cares for the people around him because he knows it's them that allows him to do what he does.
And all he asks for in return is to be able to knock some cookies out of their hands

@@jimroot9139 Actually HR includes a good of good stuff. A big part of the success of any company is how they motivate staff, prevent burnout, resolve professional conflicts, offer simple and effective stress counseling for overworked employees and managers etc
The bad part of HR is just bullying people with regard to petty rules of how you're supposed to act around coworkers, petty rules of office dress code etc.
It's a case of a useful and necessary department getting drunk with power and using it to bully others. Probably happens more when companies slack off on their hiring process for HR professionals and hire a bunch of hacks who feel the need to make their presence felt if only by bullying others.

Conan was the best late night host of the generation. Genuinely funny, doesn't revert to politics, and always elevates his guests, tries to set them up for success. Love this guy

The more I watch Conan the more I realize how comedy is an art. Conan can sing decently and can pull that out at any time, he can do accents, he knows funny dances... he covers so many bases. Conan is a comedic genius. His wit is razor sharp.

Most of the nice stuff about their dynamic has already been said, but at 6:39 you can see a note in the background of the shot from Conan to Sona. I can't make out all of the message but I think he's just found some expensive stationery and doesn't want it to go to waste, so he's written her a note. I think that's so sweet, and the fact she's kept it pinned at her desk is even sweeter. Shows their friendship is silly, that's the kind of thing you would write to your sibling - 'I have no use for this so I'm going to annoy you with it' vibes

is the ultimate comedian, I literally listened to all of his podcasts and I don't feel like I had enough of his comedy, that's why I started searching for his old tv content.

He just puts on this fake laugh and its more cringy than being funny but Conan is at an other level. He is way more smarter. I think its got to do with all the celebrity interviews that people are interested in than the guy. Conan’s shows are more with common people.
@@kalyanbv1000 I don't think it's a fake laugh. When he was on SNL, they took him out of sketches and moved him to Weekend Update because he could never keep it together (which is not ideal for a live show). His laugh probably seems fake now because there's a remnant of making a habit of trying (and failing) not to laugh, so there's a strained element to it, not because he's faking the laugh but because he used to try to hold it in. He's just really easy to crack up. That's probably part of why his acting career didn't take off, but it's useful for making guests feel welcome on a talk show, and I think some viewers probably like him because they feel like they could make him laugh too. In contrast to Conan, who would just get bored and make it about himself. Neither approach is dishonest, they're just different.
