Thanks for stopping by and checking this out. But don't thank me. Thank "the Rudd" and Conan for making this craziness possible.
Now, kinda/sorta mentioned around 17:20 in this Conan O'Brien podcast with super cool mega-movie star Paul Rudd...

This may very well be the best 15+ minute video on UA-cam. Absolute Gold.
*SOLID GOLD*
I'm not sure how Conan doesn't see it coming each time but I'll never be more happy that he doesn't.
@@MrNicodepiesobviously he did know it was coming 😉
@@MrNicodepiesj
bless Paul Rudd
I actually rented Mac & Me just to check it out and instead of the movie, it was a compilation of all the clips Paul Rudd was supposed to show on Conan
This is a veeeeeery underrated comment.
💀
😂😂
What's "rent"?
genius
The funniest thing is whenever the clip ends, Paul Rudd is just sitting there like it's exactly the clip he described before hand
He’s amazingly stone faced 😂
A few times he did loosely describe the clip. "He runs off, she chases after him, I come in at the end and try to salvage it"
Sometimes he even talks like he just showed a real clip lol
Yeah I don’t know how he can keep a straight face like that
@@Aaron_Scissorhandslol “as you can see Matthew is in a wheel chair
If Paul Rudd dies first, Conan will speak at his memorial service and when he thinks he's gonna play a tribute, it's gonna be this clip.
I think even Paul Rudd would consider that Comedy Gold!!
@@Glum1964 I assume Paul Rudd will get a loved one of his to play that clip if he dies before Conan.
Actually it would be funnier if the opposite happened, if Conan dies first and Rudd speaks at his memorial service, and when he says that they're gonna play a retrospective clip of his life and career, and the thinks it's gonna be that, it's gonna be "Mac and Me", like Conan's payback prank. :p
This is how Paul Rudd will die, wheelchairing into a lake, screaming
The ultimate revenge, and I don't think Paul Rudd would want it any other way.
"If you do something three times, it's funny. If you do it four or five times, it's not funny anymore. But if you do it fifteen, sixteen, seventeen times, it gets REALLY funny."
-Tim Conway
What's a Tim Conway ?
@jimreily7538 Very funny, he was on the Carol Burnett Show, among other things. I suggest looking up Tim Conway The Elephant Story. It was on The Carol Burnett Show (which was a live audience) and the cast starts breaking. They can't hold back and it's just funny. Funniest is him keeping a straight face.
@@jimreily7538 Oh, about a hundred twenty pounds 😉
Reminds me of the What's new pussycat bit
@@chelsearoses22 Actually, the Dentist Sketch is what cemented Conway's reputation. Well worth looking up.
This is one of those jokes that's only mildly funny to begin with, gets annoying the next few times, then gets even funnier the longer it goes on, lol.
It's tear filled laughter funny when you realize how committed Paul Rudd was to the joke and his fans compiled multiple instances of this joke and edited it to make a 15 minute video.
@@RenaldyCalixte And I never knew about this until a couple of days before I put the video together! I read a random article about Paul Rudd doing this to Conan and had to make this!
It’s a real life version of sideshow bob stepping on rakes
That's what makes the bit so funny. It's so elaborate, yet so simple. Conan falling for it every time adds to it.
@@LinkRocks I daresay Conan falling for it every time is the lynchpin of the whole bit, if he’s not genuinely shocked each time it’s nowhere near as funny
Paul Rudd's thriving movie career is just so he could keep doing this joke. 😆
Totally worth it.
I'd have to imagine, at some point, when Rudd accepts a role he realizes he gets to go on Conan and do this gag again
It is cool that 65 year old can have such staying power
He needs to leave a very sentimental video for Conan: "In case I die before you do," and it cuts to this in the middle.
@@pro-seriesfabrication3810it’s in his contract 😂 “do I get to go on Conan?”
It's fascinating to watch Paul Rudd age nearly 3 months over the course of these clips.
Like three months backwards.
Are these even chronological? Who can even tell?
He will look amazing forever. He will be more handsome than Sean Connery.
It's hard to tell the time period this takes place over because Paul Rudd never ages
Neither dies Conan lmao
You can only track it through the changes to Conan’s set lol
You can tell by his hair cut
@@miheelparmar he has looked like a rotting melon since his 40s
@@Calikola and the size of the audience... You can tell when he had the big theatre and when he lost it
I'm still waiting for Conan to host the Golden Globes and for Paul to get nominated so he can play that clip there
damnit someone needs to make that happen
Golden Globes r dunzo
That would be awesome
Golden Globes don't usually show snip-it clips of nominees as they're announced. That would be the Oscars that does that. But yes, that would be freakin' hilarious.
Or? Satan forbid, Rudd passes, Conan sets up the, "In Memoriam" during the awards, and it's Mac and Me.
Seeing a wheelchair-bound child fall into a body of water with “Anchorman 2” as title, is the best accidental dark joke I’ve ever witnessed.
This is what made me laugh first 😂
“Our Idiot Brother” is also pretty funny
Oh damn.

conan's reactions over the years are like the phases of grief :P
At first denial, then rationalization, then anger, then sadness, then acceptance.
@@Dreamcatcher9000 That's right
@@RenaldyCalixte And then insanity, as you can see from the last clip!
15:06 Conan goes full Joker towards the end.
Anchorman 2 and Antman are definitely Conan going through the depression phase.
Paul Rudd’s face at the end is the face of a man who’s purely contented with his dedication to joke that ran for almost 20 years.
A scripted joke that the host knew about the entire time.
@@Muckduckly and what's your point?
@@Muckduckly ....why _wouldn't_ the comedic host of a comedy show know about the comedy his comedic guest want to do on his comedy show every single time he comes on? Are you debating something with a ghost?
@@StonyDilithium where’s the debate? I typed a one sentence statement and you typed a paragraph. Be better.
Every-time Conan is like "ok but play the real clip cause you'll get in trouble" and Paul's like "ok yeah play the real clip" *cut to same clip* thats when it gets one million times funnier
Coming back to this after Paul Rudd pulled this off at the podcast. AT A PODCAST! Amazing. This man is a national treasure.
Yuuup, ditto!

I watched the podcast clip first on Twitter and thought about the whole death bed joke but when I listened to the podcast, I laughed so hard cause Conan thought the same thing too!!😂🤣
Ahaha yup
I just watched that too and it led me here lol
“How many times have you shown this clip” “well i mean we just filmed it”
It wasn’t a long shoot, lol
Oh my God he just played the audio from this on Conan’s podcast instead of the audiobook clip he was promoting. I died.
It’s the way the audiobook thing wasn’t even real!!!!

@@happyzinny I was trying to cook dinner while listening to it and didn't catch it. Listened to it a second time and died again.

Paul Rudd was a guest on Conan's podcast and they talked about this joke and this compilation video in particular! I laughed so hard :')

12:17 "D-do you wanna show a real clip, you son of a bitch?" I'm dead 😂😂😂
When Conan plays along with the joke.
"You can't do this with a podcast!"
"It's an audio medium!"
Then why did I still laugh my ass off?
"Erric!" - screams- - splash-
His dead eye, completely serious delivery on everything leading up to it is what sells it, and he never breaks! What an amazing ludicrous beautiful man
i love that every time the clip ends Paul is just sitting like this: 😑🧍🏻
I love how the first major evolution of this running joke is showing the clip TWICE in a row under the guise of "the studio wants us to show the actual clip"
The first time with Role Models I was like "I liked that movie I can't wait to see a real clip." Can't believe I fell for it.
I love how Paul Rudd is always so professional about it, just makes it so much better
Doesn't break a bit
Paul has done more marketing for Mac & Me than the studio that made and and McDonald’s combined.
Only the forgotten film ET did more to promote excitement for Mac and Me.
I like how that autocorrected
I just love how stone faced Paul Rudd was EVERY time he does this. No kinda mischeviousness to him. Just a "Yep, I showed this clip again. What of it?"
This is a great example of a rule of comedy: if you're going to do a bit, do it once, three times, or EVERY TIME.
"It's funnier the 17th time"
Paul Rudd took the rule of three and made it his bitch lmaoo
This is why he wasn’t on the show when Endgame came out. He would’ve been murdered by the Marvel fans. Thanks for putting this together btw. I’ve been trying to find some of these for years now.
That makes sense...they would have wanted Thanos to kill Ant Man.
not THIS marvel fan.
They'd never show this clip as it would've been a major spoiler but having Captain America get Mjolnir in hand and right before he does the Mac and Me Clip plays would've been great.
No, Disney execs would have killed him but marvel fans.
I love that Paul Rudd is basically implying Everytime that he's Mac.
".....and then I show up at the end"
The best part for me is the level of detail and clarity in which he sets up the clip, only for it to be Mac & Me.
I liked that he set-up the characters in the movies and plays as the characters in Mac & Me.
I like that the audience laughs at the kid falling off the cliff
@@B_Chasnikalol I was dead first time. His attention to detail setting up the movies he was supposed to be promoting only to have a hilariously random clip from an 80’s ET knockoff. Then the titles watching him roll down the hill and off the cliff with the screen saying “anchorman 2” (dark but funny), “living with yourself”, (nice touch adding a second Mac), “our idiot brother”, “role models”, etc. The ant man splice was classic
I can imagine Paul Rudd faking his own death, just for Conan to come to his funeral, and then the casket opens, and it's just a TV playing that mac and me clip on repeat
I bet Conan will be half-expecting it and say "J-just open it you son of a bitch!"
14:44 - 14:48 Bill Hader's face goes from "They really film the rehearsal?" to "Oh God, it's the Mac and Me clip..." Sooo funny! Thanks for posting this!
I think that was acting. I don’t think he actually wrote the sketch. There’s an interview where Bill Hader talks about doing the Ed Burns grill bit at a party with Paul Rudd for like three hours and doing it for so long that everyone walked away.
No he was definitely 👌 this close to having a genuine panic attack

marvel were probably the ones who edited the clip, good for promotion
😂 the ant-man clip when all the sudden it turns to Mac n me and kid in wheelchair rolling out looking around had me rolling
@@Seryma86It had the kid rolling too.
Conan is such a pro that he continues to act genuinely angry/bewildered every time even though he's absolutely in on the bit
He's always been about elevating the joke or the guest over his own spotlighting.
You're a hero for editing this together.
I do what I can.
Amen!
Hero?
hero would have been not showing the actual clip every damn time and editing it out
My favourite bit is during the second clip from our idiot brother at 6:29 when Conan, in a fit of laughter just declares "You're wasting everybody's time!"
Reminded me of a bit Norm did to waste time
My favorite bit is at 11:40 when Paul inexplicably adds a 2nd Mac and Conan cannot make sense of it
@@TheKillahKylaWell it's not inexplicable. That show was about Paul Rudd's character cloning himself. So he had to clone Mac for the trailer.
I was going through Tubi the other day, and I saw Mac & Me. I hovered over it, and the video preview started...it was the exact same clip from beginning to end. I laughed for about 5 straight minutes.
I can't believe he actually did it for Ant Man LMAO
That’s insane
I feel like "Well...we just shot that" @ 7:24 is so underrated for Rudd refusing to address the joke, it's so good.
Part of me wants to believe afted a while, Conan knows what's happening and just allows him to do it
I think Conan is genuinely surprised up through the ANT-MAN clip, and after that, he's just like, "Okay. Bring on the stupid E.T. rip-off clip already!"
I assume he didn’t do it every time he was on. Threw them off thinking maybe he’s done with it.
@@dadanddaughterbusby1726 One time... when he appeared to promote KNOCKED UP... he says it in the video.
I think he doubts occasionally, and genuinely got fooled by the Ant Man one, cause of Marvel. Just when Conan starts doubting…it happens again.
I genuinely think he's interviewed so many people that he's aware of Paul Rudd's antics but he forgets, so it's a surprise most of the time. But the Living With Yourself is him reaching the stage of acceptance
I wouldn't be surprised if the Conan Show had just ended up buying the full rights to mac and me so they didn't have to pay a fee every single time to show this clip

The fact that Conan continually falls for it and Rudd keeps a straight face when he is introducing the clip kills me 😂
