@@sushilbangadkar7121 when it first came out I saw a lot of flak for the design and the cgi being bad but I thinks it's possibly become more well received now?
Looked good for many many scenes. Fantastic. We all love Venom and Eddie chemistry. I've always liked Venom. No idea why and I'm 37. He's just way more fun and anti hero than Spiderman who's boring.
Yeah but it was an origin story. You can't expect an origin story to have much action. Don't worry we'll definitely get to see more of eddie and venom in the sequel.
In one of the more goofy versions of Venom in the comics, his one weakness is actually chocolate. It doesn't kill him, it just pacifies him, it makes him happy and makes him not want to fight. With this in mind, I ABSOLUTELY am okay with Venom being a complete cheeseball. He was Deadpool before Deadpool, let's keep him that way. I honestly would love that weakness be used as a joke in the sequel.
Having him be a one note kill all living things character is boring. Riot while it could be said is thinking about the survival of his species, has such a distorted view on any lifeform other than his species. Venom was able to see the benefit of human culture and human hosts. I am so glad they did not make him an anti-Spiderman. He is cool without spideys powers.
There's also the fact Chocolate contains a lot of chemistry that affect neurotransmitters. Also explains the fondness for lobster. Well that and chocolate tastes great. Pretty sure the tater tots are because they're cheap eats. Besides, cheesey tots. No it isn't healthy no I don't care.
Here's the REALLY screwy thing: Venom's symbiote, in the comics, canonically bonded with someone else before finding Peter Parker. A certain Merc with the Mouth. Small wonder Venom in the comics is freakin' nuts at points, as the symbiote takes on traits from all of its hosts.
One of the things that made this ‘superhero’ movie standout for me was the fact that Eddie was actually tormented by his new powers and the emotional and physical toll was made visual - it wasn’t just ‘my life is amazing now that I’m imbued with these powers’ Also - the ‘live lobster’ was a chocolate shell over marshmallow lol
Yeah this movie was pretty good but it could of been so much better 40 minutes were cut from the movie and Tom Hardy said some of his favorite parts were in those scenes but you know Avi Arad is still around at Sony for some reason he’s what really holds Sony back he has way too much say in these movies he should of been fired after the Spider-Man 3 mess
I cracked up so hard at Eddie's interrogation..... The lines "That is the most ugly looking thing I've ever seen" and "He's got one up his ass too" and the way he delivers those lines is just hilarious.
I also think the “he’s got one up his ass too.” can be interpreted as either Eddie forgetting venom isn’t there and making a quip to him, or Eddie just talking to himself for shits and giggles.
The main thing I adored about this movie was how Dan and Ann/Annie were portrayed. Usually in movies like these they have the new boyfriend be a horrible jerk(that either gets killed or suddenly gets on the protagonists side) and they have the ex be an overly dramatic, shouty, know-it-all until something crazy happens. But in Venom, they are neither and are just decent people. I love that.
I love the moment where he said "Don't call the police, call an ambulance". Like, yeah, Eddie is clearly sick as shit and delirious, he needs help. Doctor first. Help people. Absolutely awesome.
I like that they literally just have Tom look like shit through almost the entire movie 😂 No superhero glow up, no unnecessary “Look at How Hot This Actor Is” scenes. They dodged so many other clichés that critics would have docked them for. Dr. Dan being a super chill, trusting boyfriend. The cool CGI, the humor, the action. I honestly thought it was a good place to start.
I do too. I heard a lot of compliments that he wasn't confident was he is the comics and was so awkward but it's like they didn't pay attention to the beginning of the movie. He lost everything and was basically a broken man before venom showed up. His character growth is more him building himself back up. And unlike the comics where Peter fucked him over ,he kind of fucked himself and reasonably he knew only had himself to blame. Which fits more into the anti hero role he's being introduced as.
Venom affecting Eddie's mind in him saying, "This is.. it's dead. This is dead!" Then reflecting on Venom's diet later on, just shows how far Venom went to adapt to Eddie's rules.
Can I just say, I love the way they designed the symbiotes in a way that reflects their positions and status. Venom is lower on the pecking order, with a far more organic looking appearance and veiny exterior. meanwhile Riot is near to the top of the pecking order, with a far more spiny armored looking exterior, almost looking metallic in certain ways. A nice way to give a subtle subliminal message about the power difference between the two
I'm okay with the Venom being a loser thing. It kinda explains why Riot (and eventually, Carnage) can form weapons and do more fancy stuff than Venom can
One of my favorite parts was when Eddie is in the office after dropping the drive off and then looks toward the broken window. Venom says “jump!” And it cuts to the elevator and all you hear is “pussy”😂😂
I never see a movie twice in theater, but I took a friend because how much I loved this movie, even tho they didnt love it, they didn't like it much at all.
Also notice how Riot's set of weapons are more melee (is melee the right word?) and dangerous whilst Venom uses a shield. Cause Venom is trying to protect both himself and Eddie and Riot is just furthering his alterior motives. Great symbolism movie!!!
LadyChild well in the comics Venom can shapeshift however he wants but he mainly uses spikes as stabbing weapons while Carnage and Riot are capable of much more
didn't W mention S in one of his videos something to the extent of my equal I cant remember the video but he said 'my other would sin this' or something loll they have to Collab at some point ^-X
For being a minor character, Dan being a genuinely nice person was a big part of why I enjoyed the movie so much. Just the total cliche dodge of the new boyfriend being a dick. He wasn't worried about Anne talking to her ex, he was way more worried that said ex had a parasite that was killing him. A lot of why I liked the movie was for things like that - the cliche dodges. Eddie wasn't some super masculine power fantasy hero, he was a guy who spent a lot of the movie as a confused and scared mess (which made it way more powerful that he was still trying hard to do the right thing!).
@@sibisridhar7902 they’re talking about Sleeper who Eddie canonically had a “pregnancy” for. And they both are referred to as it’s fathers. During the 2016-2018 Mike Costa run. One of my faves. And they’re also referring to the fact that they call each other pet names like love and darling.
My favorite effect in the movie was always how you can see Venom "soak" through Eddie's clothes before he appears. It adds to the storytelling a little, showing us that the symbiote has a wet, probably slimy texture. Not important to the narrative, but an interesting detail that could have been avoided if he was just dry and fleshy
I loved the texture they gave the symbiotes. In that normal, chewed gum form, when they move you can see how tons of little tendrils shoot out to help move them along instead of just oozing along. Not only does that give them a more believable means of locomotion, but in my mind it makes them feel more like some kind of mold or fungus.
What giggles me the most about the murderfest scene in Eddie's apartment is that after Venom admits that he kinda likes Eddie, it becomes really hard not to think "Wait a minute. ..Did...did he just kill all those people because they tried to hurt his _waifu?"_
You see what I think people don’t understand about movies like this (this can also apply to kaiju movies) is that nobody is here for a tremendous story. We’re here to watch a cool ass monster kick ass.
I love this channel, it took a lot of time to undo the damage I'd caused to my ability to enjoy movies from watching people complain about movies lol. You're right about your banner, enjoying things is more fun than disliking them.
@@107frenchy care to elaborate or something...? like you can't say they're legit a couple AND leave it like that. I need details.. for research purposes
Yeah they are definitely in a romantic relationship. Eddie calls Venom ‘my love’ and ‘my darling’ all the time in the comics plus the creators of stated that they’re basically married and they also have kids together.
William Slattery “clearly into each other” yes because “your liver is starting to look really really good” is the kind of flattery everyone imagines -_-
When Eddie was being led by Venom through the woods, my first thought was, “Wow, Venom is really putting himself on the line for a guy he just got into a symbiotic relationship with.”

God, I love this movie. Like, I understand how critically, it wasn't the best but really, it's a fun movie to watch and really, that's all I care about, a good time. (Also Eddie's and Venom's relationship is what actually synched this as a really enjoyable movie for me.)
I mean, the critical score on RT is 29% but the audience score is 81%, because it was just FUN. Yeah, it's flawed in many ways, but all the ways it's not a standard superhero movie are what made people enjoy it so much.
This movie is now in my top three favorites. I wish there was a little more on how the Symbiotes were found, you know, but we've got two more Venom movies for that! (Yep, Tom was signed on for three Venoms.) Tom plays Eddie so well. He looks like a sweaty, sad pile of shit for most of it until he really connects with Venom. Venom teases him and is brutally honest and it's hilarious! I knew I was going to love this movie from the moment Venom said "You are making us look bad!" This is a fun movie. And it's okay for movies to be fun.
@Gravestone999 i made this comment 3 weeks ago. i shut up by myself but here you are knocking on my door and acting big mad about something i barely remember saying.
Is that because they are trying to do the right thing in a bad situation, or because Venom might get a taste for bacon afterwards? I'm leaning towards the first, but that second option is for the other ones that hate cops. I am a fan of cops, they do the things I'd not have the patience or restraint to do - chasing criminals rather than shoot them in the back and all. It's why I only keep my guns in the house or the shooting range and never carry outside - I know how short a temper I would have. Cops are real life superheroes to me, I don't know how they go through the day NOT shooting some people. Some people shouldn't carry, and I admit to being one of them. Defense and training are one thing, but if you honestly think that a situation outside of life and death would be better with a weapon available...just don't carry. Know yourself, especially your weaknesses, and act accordingly. Cops shouldn't be eaten, especially the ones that take those oaths seriously. They should be commended. Serve them a meal, don't make them into one. Blue lives matter, especially the many good ones. Hope the bad ones DO get eaten, though - stop making the good ones look bad.
I'm fairly certain it was Anne's screaming that saved the police officers life and not Eddie's objections, as Venom pretty much does what he wants and he ships Anne and Eddie.
I just thought of this, maybe Eddies compatibility/bond with venom was helped when it was bonded with his friend who gave him the newspaper. Because those two were friends and the symbiote takes some traits from the last person it was bonded with. So maybe venom being transferred from his friend to him caused venom to warm up and bond with Eddie faster
Anyone who thinks Venom is supposed to be this gory and bloodthirsty monster either: 1) Confuses Venom with Carnage Or 2) Never seen Venom chase Spider-Man in a truck while laying on the horn or surfing the web
it's not that gory. there's no blood he just kills people for his own survival. I guess eating the head right off someone is abit gory but the Carnage movie is gonna be fucked LUL. And I feel like woody harrelson will make a good Carnage
9:51 i really like this scene, the villan starts to monologue and the hero literally kicks him while he does so, Eddie in this scene is literally saying: *Do i look like i give a shit for you?*
It's this movie's version of: " I like being bad, *it makes me HAPPY!* " and " *Never wound* . . . what you can't *kill.* " Let's be honest, Venom had cheesey lines in Spider-Man 3 But I just try to accept it as a different interpretation of the character that is not as serious. And, yeah, I'm aware Venom was a jokester in the comics at times. Just one more reason I like him as a character / villain.
Venom occasionally being a massive dork makes total sense when you think about how people are when they're just, y'know, shooting the shit with their friends. Venom is on some level always two best friends hanging out together.
@@UrpleSquirrel Yeah, that's a cool concept this movie explored. The Symbiote actually conversing with it's host. (They did it in the comics, too; and at first the Symbiote couldn't really make full sentences, but it's speech got better over time.) And were I ever to make my own fan-made stories with Venom (and possibly some other Symbiotes, but probably not Carnage, 'cause they speak as if they're one entity) as a character I would have them refer to themselves as we / us in cases where it's a mutual thought / comment from both (host and Symbiote, speaking in unison as one) or as I / me when it's an independent thought / comment from only one of them. (host OR Symbiote) They would also have conversations among themselves, sometimes while completely bonded (so it could be like only one of them uses their voice, and in more healthy host/Symbiote relationships the host can speak while the Symbiote, meaning outer appearance, keeps it's mouth shut, and vice versa. So if Venom Symbiote was talking, but not Eddie, and Venom had half his face peeled away, for whatever reason, only "Venom's" mouth would move, not Brock's). I also had an idea of making the Symbiote bond to Eddie so strongly, that Venom starts referring to itself as I and me; sort of close to a no - turning - back phase of the bondage. (In the 90's cartoon Carnage did this right away. I think if there were a reason it'd be because neither the Carnage Symbiote, or Cletus Kasady had any shred of reluctance to bond, while maybe even months after being together, Eddie would still not fully trust the Symbiote.) I even thought of a scenario where Venom would actually start doing this, I think I'll call it "True Symbiosis" or "Being One". Basically: Venom unmasks Spider-Man on the news, and now all of New York knows who he is. (It was for a premise of a series where Spider-Man's identity is public and even his enemies, friends, and family know.)
4:50 Fun Fact: Eddie climbing into the tank wasn't in the script, Tom arrived on set and basically said 'I am getting in that lobster tank' and after some concerns from production on if it could actually support his weight, they added it to the scene.
9:05, I'm gonna add my OWN win here, cuz I thought it was pretty funny. Even when stating that they have virtually no chance of success, Venom can't help but smile. +1
3:32 Made me think of Cave Johnson. I could so hear him say, "Science never sleeps. Unfortunately some of our safety bots do. Please do not have a medical emergency outside of office hours."
"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons; what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down... with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Eddie and venoms relationship in this movie is how I wish peter and his were done in the comics. You should’ve added a win for the elevator scene, that was great.
we didnt think this would be as much of a comedy superhero movie as it is thank god we were wrong... because this stuff is HILARIOUS "pretty much zero" "told you" *interrupting monologue* further proving my point
The comedy of this movie is like seeing " A *turd* . . . in the *wind!* " It's out of left field, hilarious, and best of all original (or, at least not full of cliches)
Surprised you didnt give Riz Ahmed a win. He is such a good actor and the way he compared himself to God when he talked to that volunteer named Isaac was one of my favorite parts
Brandon Campbell same here. It was enjoyable, entertaining, and fun. I don’t need every movie I watch to be a cinematic masterpiece. Sometimes, it’s just nice to kickback, relax, and enjoy something for what it is.
The cockeyed grin Venom gives when reciting his little poem at the end was PURE, classic Venom. Off kilter, violent, profane, funny, and somehow just. But he's a much, MUCH messier eater in the comics.
i always ADORED the idea that they had with the DVD release. they cut the trailer to make this as a romcom rather an action piece because i ALWAYS read it that way. its a man improving his life and a symbiote improving his own. its /true/ symbiosis. they help each other together.
I honestly am still quite confused with the “it’s not the best cgi” as I genuinely think this is some of the best cgi I’ve seen on a movie with these sorts of like alien like characters I mean when you think about it they really understood the whole liquid like alien slime form! I absolutely love the cgi and I genuinely wouldn’t be able to say what I find wrong about it
Quick correction: it's not really a power of friendship my dude. Venom and Eddie are canonically in love in the comics and have at least one child together and also consider themselves married. That said, still great video
I adore the Venom movie as a die hard venom fan this movie was everything I wanted. I love the goofy vibe to it, and the relationship between eddie and venom is really good. I also like showing a bit of the horror side and have that fizzle out by the end to show how venom changes. I loved the first movie and loved the second one. I saw both movies in theaters and I haven’t been disappointed.
No win for the direct quote from the comics? "Eyes, lungs, pancreas...so many snacks, so little time!" This was a pretty good movie. Had its flaws, like so many others, but still worth watching.
I really don't either, the writers and the director went out of there way to make this movie incredibly accurate to the original comics just ya know without spider man
I finally got around to this movie on the recommendation of my sister, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love it and I already want to watch it again. I'm a little sad you didn't mention the part in the movie when Eddie tells Anne that he's scared, it's not something a lot of main characters will admit, but it really made me feel for him.
Venom is a wild card for me. I feel like it’s a “bad” movie with fantastic elements in it that put it a cut above many “good” movies. I love the humor and personally I think the cgi looks fantastic. Overall it’s just bold and really enjoyable to watch.
It's like a buddy cop/monster movie. If people just sit back and let themselves be entertained, it works. I mean, I'm sure as even someone not familiar with the long comic history of the characters, I could pick this all apart, but why bother? I was entertained a lot, I enjoy it, I've watched it several times and it still makes me laugh

Critics weren't really wrong tbh, I love the movie but from a filmmaking standpoint it's not a good movie and that's what most critics look to to review something
The scene where Venom and Riot merge temporarily is a nod to the symbiote called Hybrid. It is created when 4 symbiotes combine and share a host. Could be a really cool character for Venom 2 as it isn't a bad guy or good guy. And having carnage as the antagonist in the sequel could set up the symbiote toxin for venom 3. Toxin is the child of carnage. It bonded with a police officer who tries to teach it the difference between right and wrong and is feared by both venom and carnage.
After this film, I think that Tom Hardy is nearly, not quite, but fairly close to being at the level of *being their character* as Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool or Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man.
One thing I loved about this movie is that you expect there to be some moment like in other super hero movies, where Eddie suddenly becomes awesome at everything he does and gets cleaned up. But that never happens, he just stays himself, that's really awesome to me.
I just love how casual Venom is. He's not over imposing. He just...adopts Eddie.

XD
I thought he ate chocolate so he didn’t need to eat brains because both have an addictive chemical (to his species) in them.
One of the things that made this ‘superhero’ movie standout for me was the fact that Eddie was actually tormented by his new powers and the emotional and physical toll was made visual - it wasn’t just ‘my life is amazing now that I’m imbued with these powers’
Also - the ‘live lobster’ was a chocolate shell over marshmallow lol
Yeah this movie was pretty good but it could of been so much better 40 minutes were cut from the movie and Tom Hardy said some of his favorite parts were in those scenes but you know Avi Arad is still around at Sony for some reason he’s what really holds Sony back he has way too much say in these movies he should of been fired after the Spider-Man 3 mess

I cracked up so hard at Eddie's interrogation..... The lines "That is the most ugly looking thing I've ever seen" and "He's got one up his ass too" and the way he delivers those lines is just hilarious.
The “he’s got one up his ass too,” Is my favorite line other than the you did eddie line. I die each tike he says it
Tom Hardy is just so good at this.

In my opinion he didn't even need any of that, he looked fine in my opinion. He only looked liked shit when things got really bad.
the movie is absolute shit
Dan is the best. I can't hate him. Hell, I want that guy happy, he's a good man!
Tom Hardy is pretty sexy even if he's not looking that good at times u know
It kinda explains why Riot (and eventually, Carnage) can form weapons and do more fancy stuff than Venom can
Yeah and cause their his kids they’re slightly more powerful than him.

That could explain why the match was so perfect. 🤔
I was on the fence about this movie till Venom told him to apologize, then I was completely sold
Anyone who thinks Venom is supposed to be this gory and bloodthirsty monster either:
1) Confuses Venom with Carnage
Or
2) Never seen Venom chase Spider-Man in a truck while laying on the horn or surfing the web

Let's be honest, Venom had cheesey lines in Spider-Man 3
But I just try to accept it as a different interpretation of the character that is not as serious.
(They did it in the comics, too; and at first the Symbiote couldn't really make full sentences, but it's speech got better over time.)
And were I ever to make my own fan-made stories with Venom (and possibly some other Symbiotes, but probably not Carnage, 'cause they speak as if they're one entity) as a character I would have them refer to themselves as we / us in cases where it's a mutual thought / comment from both (host and Symbiote, speaking in unison as one) or as I / me when it's an independent thought / comment from only one of them.
I think if there were a reason it'd be because neither the Carnage Symbiote, or Cletus Kasady had any shred of reluctance to bond, while maybe even months after being together, Eddie would still not fully trust the Symbiote.)
I even thought of a scenario where Venom would actually start doing this, I think I'll call it "True Symbiosis" or "Being One".
Basically: Venom unmasks Spider-Man on the news, and now all of New York knows who he is. (It was for a premise of a series where Spider-Man's identity is public and even his enemies, friends, and family know.)

I love how it's very similar to the Giver
Oops. I thought it was kill bill because of the sword. Thank you that's why I was here.
No win for the direct quote from the comics?
"Eyes, lungs, pancreas...so many snacks, so little time!"
This was a pretty good movie. Had its flaws, like so many others, but still worth watching.
I loved this movie. Really don't get the criticism
Sincerely Defiant, easy some of the movies points weren’t thought all the way through and they left questions
I get the criticism. Still love the movie.
I really don't either, the writers and the director went out of there way to make this movie incredibly accurate to the original comics just ya know without spider man
@@emmaray6215 that's why sequels exist
Critics were just mad it wasn't in the MCU. I thought it was great too
1:46 I would like to propose that Riot was also probably eating the woman's organs to survive
Like a wasp larva
In the comics venom and Eddie see each other as a married couple
Which one? There are so many. (Is it all?)
Actually I think they are maried
@@gentlesandladymen Yeah, it's cannon that they're married
@@iseeyou6985 Can't remember
Jack Hdz that’s what I thought. Thanks :)
Notice every time Venom's inside of a male, he's buff.
But when he enters a female, she thicc.
Venom loves to mess with sexual dimorphism it seems
Because he is a symbiote, meaning his relationship with the host is of equality, so he gotta adapt himself as much as the host, body shape and all.
@@MrKlausbaudelaire
I wanna see 'em take on a four-legged animal next movie. I wanna see what he looks like, full beast-mode while inside of an animal.
@@vizzyboi1829 Well, in the comics, there was a Venon dog, the movie just referenced it (and realized the dog going full venom was going to be too goofy tobe taken seriously so they stuck with the dog just carrying Venon to a proper host). Venom also took host on Groot once, and it was friggin TERRIFYING!
@@MrKlausbaudelaire
Imma look it up.
Everything great about MI: Fallout or John wick should be done soon plz
And Speed
Everytime I hear Venom speak I imagine Venom standing right beside Eddy and saying it. Really paints a picture in your mind.
My favorite thing about this movie is Eddie. He's scared, his voice is always cracking.
I loved Venom critics were so wrong about this movie it’s better than Spider Man 3 and TASM 2. Tom Hardy was amazing as Eddie Brock/ Venom he’s much better than Topher Grace. The end credit scene left me even more excited for the sequel cuz there going to be Carnage,
Definitely better than TASM2... but I’m sorry, Spider-Man 3 is friggin hilarious.
Robert Kenny just because I have a different view from you doesn’t mean I’m smoking anything. Just means I have a different opinion. Your opinion is valid, you think it’s of lower quality than the room, but I happen to disagree.
I love Venom, because I can actually enjoy it.
I love Spider-Man 3, because IT’S FUCKING HILARIOUS! It has amazing humour
@Robert Kenny sorry but no. Spider-Man 3 is an objectively fine film. The Room is way more terrible
Critics weren't really wrong tbh, I love the movie but from a filmmaking standpoint it's not a good movie and that's what most critics look to to review something
+1 for both Eddie and Venom smiling (venom smiles wider) when they say “We are venom.”
^^^
9:19 when venom is in his full form eddie is inside venom's head like how venom is in eddie's head when eddie is normal
It's always been like that-
*_"I need some anti venom up in here!"_*

I think its impossible because he does not have hate against spider-man because they are in different universes venom is in its universe.
One thing I loved about this movie is that you expect there to be some moment like in other super hero movies, where Eddie suddenly becomes awesome at everything he does and gets cleaned up. But that never happens, he just stays himself, that's really awesome to me.
