I'm amazed by the mobility such a tall guy like Hurkacz displays on court. He is really versatile, not just a bomber.
The guy is like 6' 4" or taller but moves like a smaller athlete. It's impressive

Happy for Hurkacz, after an average year this is an amazing turnaround! That serve is scary good at times. The final couple of places in the tour finals are really up for grabs now but I'm hoping Hurkacz overtakes Rune for that 8th place!
Hurkacz is so much more than a servebot. He moves so well and has such great technique for such a big man.
Tough loss for Rublev but Hurkacz's serve was untouchable all tournament. Whenever the court conditions favor him, he really comes alive.
I truly believe Hurkacz is a dark horse for one of the upcoming slams, his serve is top 5 in men's tennis atm, he's definitely one of the more mobile 'big' guys

Rublev keeps blaming his racket. I don't think the racket made him lose. Hubi was untouchable. Magnificent match by both players. I don't follow rankings much, but I bet both these guys finish the year in the top ten and Taylor Fritz and Nick Kyrgios don't.

Both guys played really well and it's tough there could only be one winner. I was pretty impressed by Hurkacz's defense to stay in the rallies and make Rublev play an extra shot.

@@wimzswimz9843 'Robbed' is a bit of an exaggeration. Sometimes players just have their day. I love both players and either one would have been worthy winners on this day. But Hurkacz got over the finish line first and that is to be commended.
Being a Hurkacz fan is very, very stressful regardless of the result. Whew, what a match!

I must say, from the epic three set matches that went down to the wire (including this match), to the early upsets of the favorites including Medvedev and Alcaraz, to Federer doing the extended fan meeeting, to the finals line up that not many would have thought of, this was a wonderful tournament in Shanghai.
I like Rublev, but Hubie is such a polite, respectful and classy guy, it's impossible not be happy for him. Congrats Hubie, well deserved, you are role model for us all. 👏 Oh and all that power, yet not a gram of animal protein was consumed!
Yes, impossible not to love this guy, such a beautiful spirit he has, he doesn't even know what to do with a trophy. He could be even better if he had more of a fighting spirit, but he wouldn't be that humble then. As a Novak's fan, I am sad even when Novak beats Hubi,

Great match; it could've gone either way. Looks like Rublev has finally found his game. I'm truly surprised at the quality of tennis this late in the season. If Hurkacz can just 'hold his nerve', he can win a Grand Slam; he just seems to fade at the big moments. His results don't reflect just how good a player he really is. 🏆🏆🏆🏆

if only there was another generation of the likes following them, but let's enjoy what we have for now, coz both of them are true gems and great ambassadors for our country. A lot of people know what Poland is and where it is on the map thanks to the stuff those two showed around the world.

@@kacperm6555 I wrote that coz I myself like to check the country a great person at what they do comes from. Many times they emerge from a small country that's not known for many good things. You might remeber George Weah or even Diego Forlan. Before they bursted onto the global football stage I had no idea where to look for their countries, I mean I knew the continent, but had to open a map and take a proper look. That sort of activity makes you remember a country for longer and creates a more enduring link between the player and a place. Poland is a relatively small country with dying out native population. It is great to have ambassadors like Hubert and Iga. They make people search for Poland and think about it, and the more you think the more likely it gets you are going to visit in the future. That's the real strength of the icons, they are like the moon, they focus and direct the light at everything that's related to them while at the global stage and shining their brightest light. I loved the win today, Andrey was razor sharp, but Hubert is a man of the last word now, what a turnaround on the previous season when he lost some tie breaks due to being unable keep the high level of focus when it mattered the most.

My goodness, what a match! The players perform their best in the best-of-three format. They fight for every point and are super fun to watch. Majors on the other hand have seen matches way too long and exhausting to the point quality of play suffers.
Hurkacz is a different beast when he actually plays more aggressive with his forehand, not just pushing the ball around as we saw so many times this year. His defence was also exceptional in the last couple of matches. And the serving of course, he is really using his height advantage. The fight for Turin will be interesing in the next few weeks.
He has a chance to jump to 8th place. There are still 3 tournaments before the Atp finals/Hubi will play in Tokyo, Basel and Paris/. I like his more aggressive tennis. That forehand works very well. And thanks to this he won the whole tournament, I think.

Ah man I wanted Rublev or Dimitrov to win this so bad. Oh well, it was a good win for Hurkacz who really stepped up his game since Wimbledon. He gave Djokovic a decent scare that match off the back of his serve, then in Toronto and Cincinnati he challenged Alcaraz and improved his forehand a bit. I’m not sure why his performance at the majors has dipped so much recently, and the US Open loss was bad, but he’s on the right track and might be back in the top 10 after this.

Both guys played really well. Fun games to watch are the ones decided by a small margin and it was quite a show! It’s amazing that Rublev doesn’t seem to have much muscles, but he can smack the ball really hard.

Posting summary here as well. "Amazing tennis!” Indeed, coach. Federer was once again looking on in Shanghai as Hubi clinched his 2nd career Masters 1000 title 6-3 3-6 7-6 (10-8) in just over 2 hours. With this, the Pole rises to 11th in the rankings & into striking distance of qualifying for Turin. Ruby is currently in 5th place.
It was a close match. Hubi only hit one more winner than Ruby & actually had 10 more unforced errors, but tennis is a game of percentages & Hubi’s 1st serve in, 1st serve made, & 1st serve won were all higher. Ruby looked so tired & sad holding his platter. Don’t feel bad, you played so well!
1st set: The sixth game proved to be the hinge point of the set as unforced errors from Ruby handed Hubi the first break of the match. 3-2 became 5-3 as Hubi held serve to win the 1st set in 31 mins.
2nd set: After a much needed love service game, Ruby finally broke Hubi in the 2nd game by pouncing on all four of the Pole’s 2nd serves. Ruby raced ahead to a 3-0 led in 13 mins. More aces & coming to the net twice to end points with smashes helped Ruby reach a 5-2 lead in 25 mins. (He should’ve done that more in the tiebreak.) Another love service game closed out proceedings as the final was due to go the distance after just over an hour of play. A 7% drop in 1st serve won was enough to Hurtcaz in the 2nd set.
3rd set: Tiebreakulosis was in the air as both players held serve to 6 all. The 10th game with Ruby on serve had drama! Ruby found himself in danger with some sloppy points & he received a warning for screaming at a photographer who distracted him. The umpire handled it well & agreed with Ruby, but still had to issue it. A crucial correction from the umpire kept Ruby alive & he went on to save match point at 5-4 with strong serving. Coming to the net once again kept Ruby alive.
Tiebreakdown: A brisk 3-0 lead for Ruby turned into a tight 5, 6, 7, & 8 all as both players held serve & returned well to maintain pressure. Too many errors from Ruby ultimately allowed Hubi crucial leads at 7-6 8-7 & 9-8 to win the TB & match.
Tough loss but Rublev you gotta move on to the next one. I will cheer for you whenever you play. Congrats to Hubert, was a good game.

The range Hubi can cover is crazy... almost makes tennis a slower ping-pong game.
Congrats to Hubi, graet title. However I had a feeling hes hitting the ball like 70% of what he can. With such a great seve and return, to be in top 10 he should get more cofidence and finish faster this kind of game. Still nice game and very tight.

As for Rublev, it's a tough one to take but these are slim margins. More importantly though, his game seems to be steadily improving: he's getting more comfortable at the net, throwing in the occasional drop shots, and in general, being more patient in point construction. Not yet perhaps at the stage of challenging the top 4 or 5 consistently, but if he can keep expanding his arsenal, a slam might just be on the cards.

Wow, that was insane.
For a good part Rublev remained in contention and that frustration was evident when he let it slip in crucial moment at the finish point but that is partly due to the sheer tenacity on display by the towering Pole who seems to be innocuous with his moves at times yet so so effective.Champion is roaring again in Masters.
