      Totally agree. I have seen a big change in playstyle after his winning in Wimbledon. Before, he was hitting flat nuclear bombs as his way of life. Now he is relying a lot more on safer top spin shots. I guess his team got to the conclussion that this shot selecttion has better risk-reward, but the early Alcaraz, when he was on fire, was just brutal.

    Carlos is gonna finish his career with the greatest highlight reel of all time. I’m convinced of it. This highlight reel was insane and he’s only 21, plus this didn’t even include grand slam highlights…
    Nadal and Federer have amazing highlight videos of course, but Alcaraz just does something crazy every match. He has the Nadal-speedy highlights and defensive gets, powerful forehands, but he also has the Federer craftiness, slice approaches, drop shots.

    • @timovangalen1589
      @timovangalen1589 8 місяців тому +1

      I think that's premature. The Big Three have the best highlight reels because they played each other. Carlos hasn't beaten an opponent anywhere near the calibre of 2006 Federer, 2010 Nadal, or 2011 Djokovic

      @@timovangalen1589To be fair, it's not like there's anyone on the tour remotely close to those you listed, and it's very possible no such player exists during Carlos' career

      @@TraeBeneck I agree. You rarely see a player that talented once in a generation. We had three of them dominating the tour for 20 years. Most of the current top ten would get eaten alive if they came up in that era. Not to say that this generation sucks, just pointing out how unbelievable the Big Three were by comparison.

    Purely from a talent-based perspective, he is among the very best ever. It doesn’t mean that he necessarily wins many, many slams. He has the abilities, obviously. But he needs stay stay focused, injury-free etc. Let’s hope for us all that he does.

    • @tigeranthony

    Didn't realise Alcaraz had already played Nadal, when was that? And so nice to see, that's the highlight for me. To see the legend Nadal & possibly the soon to be one, Alcaraz, play against each other, wow! And both Spaniards and in Madrid - great culture, good-hearted Spanish people, beautiful country & what a language! 🇪🇦🙏😌

    • @excalibur9545
      @excalibur9545 8 місяців тому

      Ah yes, I also assume that Alcaraz honours his role model and compatriot accordingly, unlike this year's players who were allowed to play against the legend in Madrid or Barcelona. Most of them, in fact.

    • @SJ-di5zu
      @SJ-di5zu 8 місяців тому +4

      2021 Madrid was the first time they played, but Nadal crushed him because Alcaraz was 17 (or just turned 18) at the time and playing some of his first tour matches.
      They met again at Indian Wells 2022 which was a much closer match and pretty high quality (no spoilers here). This was right around the time Alcaraz started to really play at a consistent top 5 level and made a name for himself.
      And then once more at Madrid 2022 which was again, a pretty close and competitive match.

    i have watched tennis for a long time (since 1980), but my goodness the point at 5:23 and the match points saved vs Djokovic in Cincinnati 2023 are probably the best points i have ever seen. Of course there may be better plays that ive missed, but every point shown here is a highlight reel in all court offense, defense, power, touch and unbelievable hands with lightning speed. surreal in every way. just perfection. at 9:09
