I remember the game that knocked them out as well. It was one of the qualifiers and they should have won by miles. Created so so many chances but just couldn't finish them. Could've got them through to the group stages which is even more insane.

I will forever hold this man in the highest regard. He took us from the championship to the premier league in a period where we were shaky after our last promotion and relegation, then promoted us again after another relegation, then went on a streak taking us to Europe, producing some of the best English Goalkeepers in the premier league (One of which being Nick Pope who produced the second most amount of clean sheets in the 19-20 season) as well as a crop of quality players that are still playing premier league football, one of which being a Spanish champion, a serious European competitor and a regular England star, and did it all on a shoestring budget.
Forever a legend of the club.
Edit: The Spanish Champion is Kieran Trippier.

Grew up a burnley fan in the US. My youth coach from Burnley convinced me to be a supporter when I was 10. Burnley hired Dyche in my first couple of years supporting Burnley so he was basically all I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful for what he has done for the club and the great years he gave us with 2 promotions and a place in Europe. I often get laughed at for supporting burnley, but a manager like dyche makes it very easy to be proud of your club.

Great manager for us at Burnley. The years he was there we competed against teams who are the best in the world. Burnley is tiny in comparison. Will always have thanks for him- however by the end few seasons the football wasn’t great, the results worsened and the age of the squad grew… since Kompany has come in it’s been so so fresh it’s hard to put into words. I have huge respect for Dyche. He worked miracles just to keep Burnley in the PL multiple times on a shoe string budget. He got criticized for old school tactics and playing dirty but he's actually quite tactically astute and they could play too. I'd love to see how he gets on at a higher elk club with some decent money to spend.

I sometimes joke about Sean Dyche's Burnley side, but I've always had a huge amount of respect for him as a manager and for what he achieved throughout his journey there. He definitely deserves to manage a club in the prem. Personally, it sounds like he 1) is keeping tabs on what's currently going on the prem (he said he wasn't really) and 2) wants the Tottenham job when they sack Conte, who Dyche seemingly took a bit of an indirect jab at in his response to Simon's question about the perception of him as a manager based on his style of play at Burnley. That's the only acceptable explanation for why anyone would "spontaneously" use Tottenham as an example of a club that has more technical and skillful players to work with than a club like Burnley. It's of course true, but in every day football talk its unusual for people to choose spurs (over other top 6 clubs) to make comparisons like that. I think he wants the spurs job personally. would be interested to know how spurs fans would feel about that

    • @mrfab4383
