Deja Vu is easily a top 5 em song but unfortunately people only look at his hits and don’t really dig deep into his discography. That song easily deserves to be among his best work than other songs people praise a lot.
I believe one of the biggest points against Relapse is just the accents right? (And I guess some odd song choices) Otherwise, it's a really fun concept album, digging into that perspective of a serial mess to society
To this day, Relapse is an album I love. Say what you want about the accents, but that production and Em’s rapping I’ll never not like on that album. 😭
Ab-Soul's Do What Thou Wilt. Y'all loved it, but it got a very polarizing reception initially and many forget it exists at this point. I still think it's fantastic.
There is a little subtle storyline going on there but idk if I’m reaching. Especially when it gets to Must Be The Ganja, then Deja Vu, then Beautiful one after another in the tracklist order. But Crack A Bottle right after Beautiful kinda took me out of it despite it being a good song.
Dr. Dre - Compton. It's aged amazingly well, the features are fantastic (especially Snoop and Anderson .Paak), the concept is often misunderstood because everyone wanted Detox and Compton is not that. Criminally underrated album.
I remember it wasn't available on streaming for a long time and was even hard to find on UA-cam. I distinctly remember it being like a lost album for a minute. Maybe only on Tidal? I don't remember but that hurt it. A lot of people never heard it for that reason. I really like it too though. I pirated it day 1.
I been listening to Relapse since it dropped, so I’m with Myke on this one. Only skip for me is Insane. Album is very weird even by Em standards but that’s why I love it.
Aesop Rock- Bazooka Tooth is my favorite project by him but it gets hate and flack from his fans because the production was so different and in-your-face compared to Labor Days. But in reality it was Aes taking his first risk. And it really paid off. Also thank you Myke C-Town for doing a Backpack Classics review of it :)
Mannnnnn, I'd say Man on the Moon 2 by Cudi, that album was as raw as it gets, one of the first few albums to really show their sleeve. The concept is dark but it's a part of reality people face.
Thank you Ken for bringing up hip hop is dead, great mid 2000's raw hip hop album. Good story telling. Some of the beats sound alittle "old" now but that's in my top 5 nas albums. Still dreaming is probably my favorite song. For those that miss the "old kanye" that's a good one.
im glad Myke is defending Relapse, it’s actually a pretty good continuation of the slim shady character and it’s horror movie feel in the production along with eminem’s twisted lyrics and flows really is a moment in time. it was the last time eminem did something interesting and different with his music in a good way lmao

@@ElijahMCMalik Yeah, but everyone *loves* stillmatic. The consensus is that »I AM« is bad because he had to rework it very quickly (there was a leak) and he tried to be radio-friendly to win back money. stillmatic was considered his *comeback.* That's how bad »I AM« and »Nastradamus« were received. Jay-Z even used them to diss Nas' discography in »Take-over«. To be honest, Nas probably has one of the best discographies in Hip-Hop (even Fantano had to admit that in a video). He's not as consistent as Kendrick but he works faster.
