What did you think of this year's tech from Garda? Do you know of any tech gossip or rumours in the EMTB world? Let us know 👇
Always great hearing about the next stuff. Steve does a great job on this channel.
I think Nicolai's project with integrating an MGU from Pinion into an E-Bike is the future. They seem to have a pretty rapid development cycle, hope to see this in the real bikes soon.
The industry should self impose a 100 nm limit on the motors, just like the motorcycle industry capped the top end on motorcycles years ago. Some people already get their panties in a wad when you pass them the on a hill doing 8 mph and they’re doing 5. Imagine passing them at 18? Let’s keep it a pedal assist bike and not a pedal rocket.
Should have asked Gee when the Atherton ebike will be released!
Hi Steve always love your coverage of these events, ignore the naysayers E-Bikes in all there forms are fabulous and the variations on a theme in the EMTB world are endlessly interesting. And finally to answer your main question “Why can’t the rest of the world create a perfect espresso” Come on down to the Southern Hemisphere to Aus and we will give the Italians a run for their money.
Bearing! We want higher quality bearing in all motors!
Would be nice to be able to change Shimano motor bearings
Makes one wonder how much influence in sales a bike spec'd with a motor that was bearing repairable would be. Motor manuf have two main choices; either make them repairable or much much better quality (water resistant) bearings. The public demands it LOL
@@joehoeper4648 agreed. Shimano does make user servicable/replaceable stuff - I've rebuilt my derailleur clutch mechanism twice already, and while it's no e-bike motor, it does prove that shimano could make it 'user-serviceable' if they wanted to.
@@vashon100 it's always cheaper to make something without having to factor in 'user service and repair' considerations......Question is, what do manufacturers have to gain/lose by allowing users or bike shops the ability to actually 'crack the cases' and fix/replace worn motor bits?
Very interesting vid Steve,thankyou.
I recall seeing the full spec with the 36's being listed as 20.6kgs, so really on par with most SL bikes on the market to be fair, but with 85Nm pretty impressive.
Bikes look sooo good now styling of these are just stunning and with the performance and technology behind these its exciting place to be, great update
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching
Thank you
A question for eMBN folks: have you considered doing community get-togethers during such festivals? I was at the festival this year (in fact I'm still in Riva) and really hoped to meet y'all... :-)
Need more coverage on full suspension ebikes with the rack and mudguards, panniers, lights etc... (more of the so-called 'Trekking' style bikes) Bikes like the Trek Powerfly for example? What others are out there like this? 🤔
Here in Germany they are called "SUV Bikes", by googling for it you might also find some models, that are available at your location
My reasoning for a lower power SL (2023 levo SL) is that i still get a really good workout from it. My rides are now 5-6km longer, in the same amount of time and my exercise stats are pretty much the same as on my normal bike. I simply dont think I'd get as good a workout on a full power in the 1-2 hours i normally have to ride.
Is the reason you don’t give the pricing on all the bikes you share with us because they don’t have pricing yet? It really helps to give weight and price on EVERY bike you show. Otherwise, great videos!
Are any of these bikes available in the North America other than the orbea?
What was the rationale behind not having the SRAM drivetrain on the RISE LT?
Deals with shimano
Does that carbon motor let in less water/moisture than the current ones?.. asking for a friend 😢
No, its not good for business to make products with longevity. built-in obsolescence, however, is good for business.
Hi guys, can anybody tell me where I can find out about these bike meets in the mountains
Will there ever be an all suspension emtb under £3000 worth buying?
ABS???
Saw steve there, swapped stories and tips....
ABS??????????????????
Apparently they are still refining the software.
2.85 kilos in carbon?!? LOL… 😂 😂😂
Cube bikes are total rubbish! Putting Kashima on a pig doesn’t make it a race horse.
i think cubes are well specced bikes for the money, kind of bike do you ride?
@@megane230f1 the spec sheet any the problem. The problem is the base frame. The geometry is wooden, the quality is very poor so at the end of the day you aren’t getting a better deal, you’re just spending less money. Putting a fox factory on a bike doesn’t transform it from a turd into a Ferrari, so the spec plays only a minimal part. Bikes like the stumpjumper who work fantastically well with absolute base spec components, whilst Cube struggle with top end spec.
@@minerva2958 personally i dont own one but i do like the look of certain cubes if i had to pick between a specialized or a cube id go for a cube just on the bases i think they look better im not a fan of specialized due to a hardtail i bought for my son and it was horrendous quality i ended up selling it and bought him a carrera lol which was cheaper and better made i also had a mate who had a hard tail specialized e bike who got that fed up of fixing it at the shop he bought it at he wanted a refund but instead got a cube hardtail which has never let him down
I just brought a giant reign e+ and it’s a cheaper end bike that does ride pretty well as an e enduro bike .
@@camwells9726 giant reigns with the 800wh battery for 3k are a bargain, nice mullet bike
Word on the street - Orbea's warranty and support is the USA is terrible. Buyer beware
Agreed. I looked at my friends settings on his Rise with an app on my phone. Now Orbea shops say his bike has been accessed by an unauthorized app and they will no longer update his software, forever. WTF? All his settings are and have always been factory original.
Aussie living in China and retired, I have two mountain bikes in Australia which ive been riding for eight years so I wanted a bike in China while I’m here. I’ve got a 29 with full carbon frame 620 Samsung battery bafang motor putting out 125NM.150mm and 140mm suspension, 203MM brakes front rear cost $2089 Euro , my Chinese wife thinks this is expensive🤷
Am I the only one who thinks these bikes all look pretty much the same and there are too many to choose from?
I mean... they are all **bicycles**. How else are they going to look?
They are in fact pretty much the same, small variety in components from major brands, frame geometry differs one millimeter here, one millimeter there...nothing that a normal mountainbiker will really notice, if he/she is not racing. So at the end the decision is based on the intended purpose (travel), color, price and the after-sale service, that you can be assured that you are not weeks without a bike if something breaks
For a couple of years, I don't see any big changes
They ARE the same. When everyone is using Bosch and Shimano the difference in geo, linkages and components becomes trivial.
@@Zetler and the battery size/shape is dictating the same down tube for all
Shock horror! real ebikes with panniers being shown for the mass market!
ALL E-Bikes cost WAY TOO MUCH....When you can buy a Supersports Motorbike for the same money,They're all ripping us off....!!!
I pay usd 12 grand for my Specialized Turbo Creo and I love it! CRY HARDER MY FRIEND!
You can get a carbon one for 5k now
This is why Surrons are selling like hot cakes in the US. For 5K you get more range, insane power and speed. They’re so common that I’m starting see parents buy them for their kids to use as transportation.
You could spend 15,000 on a pedal bike so yeah they’re all overpriced and we’re being fucked
Then they are really ripping us off on non electric bikes. Because they are not much less expensive, if at all.
Go try to ride a surron at a moto track and get laughed at, or a bike park and get kicked out
REALLY annoyingly loud intro racket!!! What the F was with that "music" volume????
ebikes = NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!!
All Chicom carbon frames with mostly same drivetrains and specs. Nicolai is the ONLY mfg pushing out real engineering for the $$€
