This is a great vlog, really enjoyed it, thank you. I’ve just moved into a new house and had to sell my camper van thanks to a divorce, once I know where I am financially, I’m seriously thinking of a Basecamp 2 and all thanks to you!
Fascinating vlog, high quality production and very relaxing to watch. Informative and you present caravanning from different perspective, using as base to enjoy the wild outdoors. Always learn something new, thank you for taking time to edit/share with us.
Hi Nick, Thanks for posting this vlog, brought back many memories travelling down through this spot in 1961 and then also taking my own kids till the late 90's. Did this every year from 1961 We all used to cram into my dad's Sunbeam Rapier and stop off just outside Sennybrige where he'd get the meths burns out and start cooking bacon and eggs!! This was long before the motorways existed to S.Wales so the journey used ti take over 6 hours, now it's about 2.5 hours to Port Eynon. Been watching your vlogs for a while which has inspired me to return to caravanning now that the California is sold, however I'm really torn between the Basecamp 2 or a 2 berth Eriba. I take my bike to get around and both are capable ....... oh dear, sounds like a 1st world problem🤦 Your UA-cam posts are really quite stunning and must take a lot of effort to produce and "I'm sure does not go unnoticed by all your subscribers. Keep up the good work and look froward to your next adventure.
Thank you for your extensive comment. Great memories. It’s quite the dilemma between the two vans. I know which I’d go for after 3 years in one😉. Hope you find your perfect caravan soon.
Bless you and thank you for sharing your precious space - and for taking me back to a lovely memory - where we gathered together from our village a few miles from the beautiful Brecon Beacons - recently renamed Bannau Brycheiniog (welsh) we were transported to Penyderyn by Coach (bus) A mixture of ages I was seven or eight alongside my dear brother three years young and my lovely parents our happy crowd made our way to the beautiful waterfall and were able to walk beneath the tumbling water without fear sheilded by our loving parents (what a day -what a memory) our return journey made happier by calling in to the Lamb Inn Penderyn for sanwiches and beer (lemonade for children) before our 2-3 mile return to our homes. I am now an old lady -82 yrs but enjoy recalling the past where community made a difference to our long Summer holidays
Another great Vlog- and recommendation will deffo try this site out - and thanks also for showing me the Anglesey site, just finishing an 8 day stay and its been perfect
Another wonderfully presented and interesting Basecamp adventure vlog Nick. The touring park was pretty unique and I’ll need to take a look at that for one of my adventures. Your videos are of such high quality and very enjoyable to watch. As always, I’m looking forward to your next adventure 👍
Excellent vlog Nick absolutely stunning scenery Wales is on the cards for us next Summer just need to figure out where we want to go. Thanks to your vlogs there is a great choice. Looking forward to your next one keep em coming mate 👍🏻🏴🏴
Thanks John. You want to come down south….I want to go up North😀. I’m from North Wales and I’m not being biased but I prefer it to the South for the mountain scenery, the history and the Welsh language is more prominent. That said ‘The Gower’ in South Wales is difficult to compete with.
Its North Wales i want to see Nick i worked in Blaenau Ffestiniog for a time and want to see more. Visited Porthmadog when i was there. So its The North for me it’s not too dissimilar to Scotland. You’ve shown us that many places I’m going to have to sit down and have a good think my wife has always wanted to see Wales so its a definite for next Summer
@@johnstewart2507 base yourself as near to Conwy as you can. Conwy is stunning. Snowdonia and all of its attractions, Isle of Anglesey and Llandudno all within easy reach.
Good plan heading away in spring before everything gets busy, Been looking forward to seeing more of these adventures after your long winter. Lovely looking area. Any reason you didn't go full EV or at least Plug In Hybrid?
A full EV will never meet my need. I drive long distances regularly for hiking, paragliding and of course with the caravan. My car is a plug in hybrid. It’s the Audi A3 TFSIe which I have found to be brilliant. A good compromise.
Really pleased with the Audi. Pulls the van efficiently and is a lovely drive. Now I fully understand the hybrid technology I returning a high MPG from the petrol engine.
Thank you for a lovely video. My family is from the Swansea Valley and I've always thought that the area you visited is the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of the Brecon Beacons. P.S. I thought the colour combination of the interior of the Basecamp and your Cocker Spaniel was thoughtful.
Yes I would. Ideal for when winds are too strong for an awning but it’s raining. It protects the door in strong winds from snatching out of your hands and keeps the rain out of the caravan and keeps the steps dry. It’s supplied with a superb pump with pressure gauge. When inflated to the correct pressure the awning is rock solid. Takes minutes to pitch and take down. It’s a pricey item but worth it.
@@MarkFry007 if your camping all year round like I am it’s definitely worth having in your arsenal. I’ve got the RVA1, RVA2 and a Westfield Lynx Travel Smart 200! The winter just going was very wet and windy and serval times I had to go without an awning hence I bought the Dometic Portico 180 door cover as I need shelter for the door as I have a dog to dry off.

Hi, Your videos have been a great help in researching buying a Basecamp 2. I pick mine up in a weeks time, looked for 2 years old but proved difficult. Ended up with a 2024 with 3k discount and motor mover and leisure battery included. can't wait. for a first awning do you have a recommendation ? I will be using it solo all year round. Thanks Craig also what is your tv ?
That sounds an absolute cracking deal. I really like the look of the newer models too. The TV is a Sharp 12v 24” smart TV. Search on Amazon for this:- amzn.eu/d/eTJDtg2 For an awning have a look at the WestField Travel Smart 200. It looks great on the back of a Basecamp. They can be picked up for around £200 used which is a bargain. I bought mine second hand and it had only been used a couple of times. I have reviewed it. Hi Nick we love your vlogs and definitely going to purchase a basecamp I have a question if you don’t mind I gather the width is 2.28 have they taken the measurements from plastic trims we have enough length on our drive but the width is limited thanks
Hi Mark. I’m not sure the exact premise of your question but I think I understand your concern. The measurements are as you say. When we purchased our Basecamp I laid out logs on our drive to see how it would fit and it looked scarily tight so much so that I started to look at storage options. However when I brought the van home for the first time I found it fitted fine with more space than I had measured.
Another fantastic blog. Love the ‘awning’ really fancy one Quick question: do you hotspot on your phone for Netflix etc or do you have a more sophisticated set up?
Hi Nick another great vlog. We’ve watched all of them and you inspired us to buy a Basecamp 2 last year. And we love it! Just a quick question and you may have mentioned it in a previous vlog but I don’t recall. What app are you using when you show your walking routes? As it looks pretty good. Thanks and keep them coming ! Julian

You will well deserve one. Best of luck and I hope your get sorted very soon💪🏻
Gosh this is wonderful to watch. The content gets better and better each time. Incidentally that's one nifty porch awning 👌
Thanks🙏. The content was harder to capture on this one because of the weather and low light conditions.
Well presented as always very relaxing to watch music fits just as good, .👍
Thanks Rob👍🏻. Appreciate the feedback.

Hi Nick, the awning you used in this vlog would you recommend it. We have two other covered awnings but I like the look of this, quick and easy

Quick question: do you hotspot on your phone for Netflix etc or do you have a more sophisticated set up?
The awning is great for windy weather. For Netflix all I’m doing is hot spotting my iPhone. I very rarely use campsite WIFI.
Could I ask what you use on your phone to find the walks?
It’s an app called Outdoor Active. I pay £29 per year subscription to unlock all the features I need for planning and navigation.
Thanks for the info. Loving your videos y the way bit addicted 😅
