This is the CLEANEST garage i've ever seen! Dam its sweet
Just purchased my first house, double garage, and starting with a clean slate. This is my favorite channel for ideas! The "to do" list is looking exciting. Thanks!
Congrats on your first house!
CONGRATS ON YOUR HOME MY BROTHER!!! ;) make that DREAM HOUSE AND GARAGE reality ;)
congratulations
Same, my to-do list is ever-growing it's exciting.
Congratulations brother I know how you feel I was there 3 years ago 🔥 The possibilities are endless. The key is to go bigger than you think you need because you don't want to find yourself upgrading things in another year or so. I would say my #1 tip: hang everything on the walls and keep your floor clean! 💥
Hi. I just want to say how much I enjoy your videos. I am a 56 year 'OLD' lady. I am a beginner when it comes to woodworking. I love to fix, create and imagine all kinds of projects.
I think What drew me to you [and keeps me watching] is the way you explain things. Simple and straight forward. I use youtube often to learn how to do new things but often they are so far over my head I can't follow.
The first video I watched of yours was the floating shelves and I actually built them! Twice!
Anyhow....keep it up and THANKS!!
Love your videos! I' an old lady (don't let the profile pic fool you) and recently bought a mobile home (first time I've owned the roof over my head). I am just starting to get into the "smart" thing and have set up one light. Your video helped realize there are a number of other things I can do. Thank you for further opening those options to me!😃
Man i remember subbing to this channel years ago when you had like 100k subscribers. I just checked and you are approaching 3 million!??!?!? insane how much you and your channel have grown. congrats man. seen all the hard work you have put into the channel. you deserve your success.
I 100% agree! Congratulations on your success.Well done, and thank you for sharing all your ideas.
I truly appreciate the "professional" look of your videos and the methodical way you present your projects. And I wish my garage looked as organized as yours. Thanks for sharing.
the flatscreen will come super in handy when working from a tutorial on screen and having it face you wherever you are in the garage, being able to follow from a distance hands free
Man, every time I watch one of your videos I feel inspired. EVERY SINGLE TIME!!
I appreciate ya 😀
I definitely feel the same way. He has me inspired to set up a smart switch with thermostatic and timer controls for my pool heater!
Everything you've put together has been breathtaking and well-planned projects cleanly built...
Thanks man!
I'm with you on the "did I close the garage door when I left?" I do it all the time. The garage door opener I recently purchased comes with a wifi app that allows you to monitor the status of your garage door and remotely activate it if necessary. Definitely a great addition to a smart garage.
And I gotta say, I just stumbled across this video, but your intro "I'm not lazy, I just like technology" is a perfect summation of my feelings as well. That statement earned you my subscription. :)
When flatscreen tv’s become cheaper than a sheet of plywood...
Looool big facts!!!
Hell yea. Lol
Wood prices rising so much
@Shifted Interests. LOL, but to split hairs, its more a case of a piece plywood becoming more expensive than said tv ...
@@flynna what’s the price of it in the USA
I want a smart garage. Mine doesn't even know how to take out the trash.
Neither do my wife and son. It may as well be radioactive.
Do let us know if you work out that trash thing. That would be the best home automation possible.
Omg Bins that can be programed to go out on recycling or garbage week would be amazing. Although to be honest it's not that much work haha.
The most engaging maker / DIY channel on UA-cam right now. Enjoying the content a lot.
Glad you enjoy it!
Of course you're not lazy. You build things PLUS spend time making these videos. Lazy is the last thing you are my friend! Thanks for your efforts!
Awesome. Just bought my first house and your videos are getting me excited about turning an old place with smart devices.
This is a cool setup. The temp / humidity sensors are great to figure out when someone is taking a shower and then turn on a switch for the coffee machine. Using a vibration sensor in a drawer is an interesting idea.
Hi from New Zealand. Im gonna start my course this month. You are an ABSOLUTE superstar bro...cant thank you enough for these vids...legend!! absolutely invaluable...happy for you too bro!!
This is second video of yours I've enjoyed. Got an idea for you: Smart home ideas for Seniors, or at least helpful. What comes to mind (since the viewer Matthew below asked) I got one of the flatbed (folds flat) carts to place my recycle bin on when going to the curb with trash & recycles. In winter in Michigan the driveway can be slippery or hard to slog through snow, so having the cart to hold onto is a safety measure and I can look at where I'm going, leave the bin at the curb and use cart for stabiity getting back into garage and house. Same to pick it up when bin has been emptied. Cart can be used for other things, too. Give us more ideas.
Nice work, that garage came out amazing. Love that floor.
I just insulated my garage and bought a solid wood workbench. This video was perfect timing!! Thank you!
Great tips, definitely need to know about leaks early on so they can be addressed before the problem gets worse. Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
Yep I agree that for sure! Thanks!
@@DIYCreators you can take it 1 step further and put an Alexa puck in the garage. So instead of hitting a button, you can be totally hands free and just say, "Alexa, turn on shopvac" or "turn on lights" or "open garage" or "turn on TV" etc etc etc. With proper configuration, you could even ask Alexa the attic temperature and "she" would respond. The puck runs for about $99 (I think) and all you do is connect it to your wifi.
That smart switch to the shop vac is brilliant. As a former security system installer I would add a bead of silicone to your garage door magnet. They tend to shift when done that way.
What a great job of automating your garage. I picked up many tips, lots of places to apply the modules. I started automating my house in the late 1980’s using Radio Shack/X-10 controllers. Technology ha come a LONG way since then! Thanks for the presentation.
So super idea and cool idea thanks
Love watching your stuff and you just gave me an awesome idea for my son with epilepsy. Vibration sensor on his bed to detect seizures. Thanks so much
“You guys have been asking for a TV in the garage “ - what a great excuse , I wonder if my wife would accept this…?
@@Styrofo4m my wife says I’m exactly what she wants. She said I couldn’t put a tv in the garage or hang up my elk trophy, or park my Harley. So I built a 40x60 shop and put one in it. That’ll teach her.
@@Styrofo4m well thank you dr. I don’t tell her what to do, she’s grown and can do what she wants. I wanted a shop since we built the house. So after she told me I couldn’t make a man cave in the garage, I built the shop. And I’m genx and a veteran, my feelings don’t get hurt. She got the house built she wanted, I just built it with my own two hands. But please continue with your mindless drivel. Me and her are both thoroughly amused by how one can be so way off.
@@Styrofo4m I think you completely missed mine.
@@Styrofo4m Are you sure that works in a marriage?
I bought a used TV for my garage, 🙂
I bought every thing you did to make my garage smarter, now i just need to buy the garage.
😂😂😂😂
😅🤣😭☠️
Have to do this immediately
Those vibration sensors would work well on a sump pump, or an air compressor with an auto-on off function that might get left on, and annoy the heck out of your neighbor if it has a slow leak.
Love your creativity, not only do I leave the lights on, but the compressor kicking on drives the wife crazy, gonna have to get smart!
Now you just need a smart device to do all your projects and video editing so you can sit back and relax. Great vid man, keep it up.
I am all for that!
That’s what kids are for(in my dads voice, god rest him)
Super awesome 👏
That remote switch for shopvac idea is game changer!
3 things...
1. Glen, your awesome.
2. You could attach a tiny 'gps tag' to the back of the portable switch...?
3. How many takes did it take to make that basket ?? 😅
Thanks for the video!
You do a good job with your videos and this one is no exception, thanks for the postings.
More details on the lights you're using in your garage??? Those look like a good upgrade for my garage.
Motion sensors to turn on the lights is awesome! I'm definitely gonna be doing that!
I get so much inspiration from you! Thanks for sharing those efficient tricks with us!
That's awesome! Glad I could help.
I’m glad I found this channel
Nice! The sensor on the garage door should tell you if it's open or closed, and maybe you can trigger a notification to tell you if it's open for x number of minutes.
The Vibration Sensor you can also glue to the garage door and if somebody is messing with it you get notified. And maybe add a camera outside...
Brooooooo!! your videos are so motivating. I love technology too and will be adding some of this stuff soon. Thanks for the info.
Amazing content. Love your attention to detail and love such a neat garage.
Great ideas for a smart garage - addresses a lot of what I want for my garage. Thanks!
Hi, a couple of suggestions. You should put a check valve on the output of your water heater. On the input side of the water heater you should be an electrically operated valve that is activated by a water sensor. Home Depot sells these. In the event of a water leak it will shut the water off going to your water heater. You'll still have all the water in the heater leaking out but with the electric valve will prevent an endless flood. The check valve will prevent all the water in the pipes from flowing back and adding to the flood.
His eyes reminds me of „Ricardo Tubbs“ which is an compliment.
His videos are so inspiring and a lot of fun to watch, keep going👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
I had thought to put a camera in the garage (and outside so I can catch the next person who sideswipes our car when parked), but the coolest gadget is the leak detector. I put a drain under our washing machine with the idea that if the worst happens, water has someplace to go. But, the detector would be a nice alternative to that solution. (Or, maybe in addition to the drain.) Thanks!
What sort of career path would you say you work? Like what would someone need to do to get the sort of education you have with DIY building, carpentry, etc. that you do? It seems like a fulfilling line of work where you have more freedom, which I always enjoy seeing on this channel!
Also, I like your conventional approach to smart tech! I've always felt that most smart tech was too invasive to privacy, and would make people too dependent, but these are all practical examples of the good that it can accomplish. Awesome video!
Any of the above, or, practice, watch UA-cam vids.
At least, that's my plan.
Seems like a general
Handyman or contractor. You still need to be licensed for both of those careers. Handyman can generally do a little bit of everything .
Another great video bro!!
We need more videos from you!!
I love the hoop skills with the Playskool net. hahaha. Super informative video and helpful too. I'm sure anyone could get crazy with sensors and triggers!
I always learn something new watching your vids, keep up the great work 👍🏼
I really like that setup. Simple but smart. Especially the shop vac function. That would be great for wood working shops.
Nice. Thanks for the awesome content
Thanks for sharing your list of Smart items. I recently added the myQ Garage Opener to my garage for the same "Did I close my garage door" reason you mentioned. Great to see it through the camera (which I long considered), but it's even better to not have to turn around and head back home to shut it since the app allows you to both close and open the door.
I purchased the same thing. It's great. It could use some more integration with Google assistant but other than that it's perfection.
Man this guy is great! Keep up the great videos!
Thanks!
Love this. And I love that you are picky like me using masking or painters tape so you don’t mark up the wall
I think its funny when people refer to smart technology as "lazy", when they are often the ones that cant lift a finger to workout or any type of physical activity. Nice videos, keep up the great work!
These are great solutions! Thanks for sharing!
Can you please come to my house and build out my garage? Lol. I would actually love to see if you build more storage for your garage. Thank you for yet another great video.
How does this video even have any dislikes? One of the best garage vids on UA-cam
Love the video! Where did you buy your garage ceiling lights??
Sweet! When you opened the garage door for the lights.
J'adore tout ce que vous faites.
Like that trick
Photography on the basketball shot.
My favorite addition to my garage is the Aladdin Connect garage door opener. Open and close from your phone as well as check to ensure the garage door is closed.
I think you should do a show on how to survive the zombie apocalypse and I love that furniture where do you get your tools from
WOW! THATS BOSS KID! GOOD JOB!
This dude must be a master of Redstone
i don't even own a garage and I watch few of your video, great job
Great vid! An alternative method to the garage door light which I use: Large LED ceiling light pugged into garage door motor via light bulb plug adapter. Its not as bright as the main lights, but is more than enough to navigate or search for items. Not really "smart" tech but def easy.
Another Banger, Keep it up
I appreciate that!
I love that remote switch/button! I wish more companies had that option!
Can you provide some info on the ceiling lights? Thanks!
Fantastic work, Glen! Really nice! 😃
But hey... There's nothing wrong about being lazy. 😊
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
"I don't know if I'm the only one that asks myself, 'Did I close the garage?'" Nope. I can confirm you aren't. Great stuff. I like the idea of the remote controlled outlets for the shop vac.
Motion sensors aren’t only good when your hands are full, but when you are trying to save energy without needing to remember to turn the lights off. Vibration sensors can also tell you when your clothes are done tumbling in the dryer. Just a couple right there
Love your setup!!! What kind of light strips do you have up in the ceiling? I can't seem to find a video of you installing them.
I love the garage man!
the lighting in this garage though, damn.
in the future i would advise against using power tools when mounting the bracket to the tv as it would be very easy to damage something if you use the wrong length screw or if the manufacturer cheaped out on the mounting and it doesnt have a stop to prevent damage
It should be safe to stop early and just hand tighten
Hey Glen, a fold down bench top / desk when not in use sits behind the rolling tool chest would be a good addition. Somewhere well lit that you can work on finer projects
Vibration sensor, nice! If you install one onto your Miter saw, you can activate the shop vac with it 😀
Great videos! great step by step demonstrations and explanations!
I like the TV. Great idea
I use a smart plug for my space heater and set it to auto shutoff after 2 hours. Convenient and ads a bit of safety.
I can vouche that while my internet/wifi was down my ZigBee devices were still working and doing their jobs correctly.
I just like watching these vids cause his voice sounds really cool
I love everything about that set up that you have only have one problem with it, I have to get a garage.
Great video!
Love that shop vac idea! Learned some new things. Subbed brother keep up the great content
For switches and outlets that go in metal boxes a good safety practice is to wrap the wire terminals with electrical tape after wiring the plug. Also you should wrap wire nuts with electrical tape. Just a little added protection.
I watched 2 of your videos and that is it, I decided to subscribe. Thanks for the great content!
Just purchased my first home looking to make my garage space smart as well thanks for the info
As usual another wonderful video!
Bro, first time seeing your channel. I love it and your honesty. Keep it up we need this and, great camera presence and entertaining
So I might have missed it but I didn't see anywhere in the video where you clearly state that it was sponsored. You say it in the description but I don't think the FCC is going to read the description. It needs to be clearly stated near the beginning of the video.
I appreciate the channel. I appreciate even more when content creators are transparent about their sponsorships. Cheers!
Love your ideas! I am in the process of renovating my spare bedroom at home. Garage is next on the list, this has given me some great inspiration! Keep up the awesome content 👍🏼
Hey those garage ceiling lights are fire! Where are those from? Do you have a video installing those?
Wow this is awesome! Lots of great ideas...thanks!
Very cool! Idea for your TV: you could hook up a mini computer or some other remote display device that lets you put up your Sketch Up designs. You could have your plans pulled up while you’re working and save on printing stuff out on paper.
I like the computer Idea; I have one I may do just that. I love the SketchUp idea, as you mention, Keeper!!! Thanks!
His Smart TV should be able to read files from a USB thumb drive. Save the sketches on a USB as a .jpg and plug it into the TV.
Killin it my man!
AWSOME. Thanks for sharing.
