- The opening to the 2/8/1997 episode of USWA tv. Jerry Lawler introduces the return of Lance Russell to the USWA. He and Lance say that Dave and Corey left USWA and put them over. The announcing in USWA would change multiple times between guys like Lance, Dutch Mantell, Stacy, Lawler, Michael St. John and others.
A week before Lance Russell passed I commented on one of his Twitter posts that he was the greatest wrestling commentator of all time and he actually replied back and thanked me. It might not be a big deal to some people but that was pretty cool to me.

You gotta gives Lance and The King credit, they could have easily buried Dave and Corey (like WWE likes to do) but like men they put them over instead.
Power pro wrestling was ok, but it was no USWA.
Well it's just smart it doesn't make you look petty, not appreciative, or bitter. And lets be honest alot of people comeback so burying them doesn't help. It was like when Hogan came back in 2002 WWE had been saying he was too old 7 years ago, but we were meant to all forget that as he was a wwe guy again..

Saw this on Montgomery County Public Access's Inside the Squared Circle Pro Wrestling Talk show, started with 3 crazy guys giving wrestling news for a half hour, then originally it was Smokey Mountain Wrestling, after it folded, they picked up USWA Memphis after the talk. The show is still on but without the wrestling.
How on earth did Lawler do BOTH his show and RAW? He's a workaholic

Agreed. It looked like from reading the post that Burton was the victim, not XL Sports. Just wanted to make it clear on who killed the promotion, and that Burton was NOT a victim.
Thats not exactly true. Burton was involved, but XL Sports is who bought it.
