RedneckSpaceMan even back then WWF wasn’t as good as this. It was all characters at the top of the card. Beginning in the mid to late 80’s their midcard blew away the top of their card in match quality and characters. Look at DiBiase, Dusty Rhodes, Randy Savage, Curt Hennig, Hart Foundation, etc. The guys they poached from the other companies would CONSTANTLY outperform Hulk Hogan and his monster heel of the week at the top of their card.

To me when Jimmy Hart left Memphis his career in wrestling took a nose dive. He's been a trooper about it all for years and years but his career as villain extrodinaire in CWA took a nose dive. I honestly think Vince McMahon did all he could to get him to New York. Got him there and then didn't know what to do with him once he was their? And rather than say hey Jimmy I made a mistake. Sorry dude. Go back down to Memphis he kept him their, paid well for his mistake and the rest is history. But Hart was at his best in Memphis. Down South period. Classic wrestling moment yet again. hey did anyone else notice a very young Jim Cornette sitting there in the background on the end of the stands right by the security guard about 3 feet immediately to the right of the announcers desk?...he first appears at the 4:13 mark and if you watch closely he keeps popping up in the background up until the official match starts in the ring

And I thought LA wrestling at the Olympic Auditorium and the old Channel 13 studios on La Brea was crazy. First time I've seen these clips of Memphis wrestling. Wow.

keepondjw We never saw the Memphis show in LA. We only had the Olympic Auditorium shows on Channel 5,then Channel 13 and later Channel 52 until the late 70's. That was it until World Class and WCW on Channel 56 in the 80's. Sadly, none of the LA shows survive on video. Everything was taped over them. Sucks.

If you lived in southern Kentucky, back in the 70s and/or 80s, you saw this every Saturday morning, at 10am. I remember these clips vividly. Memphis wrastlin' was the best wrestling promotion, of all time. Everybody, who became somebody in the WWF, at one time or another went through Memphis. Memphis made people. Plus, let's not forget the whole Andy Kaufmann vs Jerry Lawler period of time. That was absolutely crazy!

@@janettemcclelland2959 Not true. Jeff Walton saved quite a bit of footage from 1980-1982, including full episodes. There are also many lower-quality clips from earlier episodes which were recorded off of Channel 47 in NYC. UA-cam has plenty of those videos.
