Bro thank you for not going off on tons of (personable) tangents and vomit inducing "creator" content that wastes 10 minutes of a video and just getting straight to the freaking point with absolutely nothing extra added. It is so damn refreshing to finally watch videos the way you do them. I literally can not stand all the stupid intro videos woth channel animations and all that lame ass content creator garbage. It is so easy to watch your videos from start to finish and just want to point out how enjoyable it is.
you read my mind

YES THIS X1000. Just....DO THE THING IN THE TITLE and enough with the self deprecating humor and irony. That was funny 7 years ago. Im down to build this or the 5 inch builds. These videos are so educational. Very much admire the straight to it style.
I agree he’s the best. Fpvbacon or whoever I tried following his videos but my god just get on with it
WORD OMG
Just a few notes as I have built this (previous to the video).
My max fly time so far is around 15 min and in that I covered 8 miles (in circles). Truth is I could have gone another mile easy- this was just cruising so your milage may vary.
The peak amp draw on mine was 80 amps for a lift off which the 60a speedybee did fine but you won't want to do that continous- the lift off generated 10g force so this really does get up and go.
The most important fact- this is a 4 pound beast and crashes are nasty. Do not fly as your first build unless you got at least a football field of space around you as it will do serious damage while going 100 mph.
80A draw at input and 60A ESC means per motor. IT IS a big difference. With only 80A draw you are far away from what the ESC can handle.
@@YourdailydoseofShorts-un5vi Yeah, at 60A per motor, it's 240A total. Not many batteries can even supply that, especially if you fly on liion.
Well this is my first build
Wtf are you doing with a 10g take off?? 😂😂😂 just do a regular take off and it’ll be fine.
@@enzopedreira4640 the guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Hard freestyle with a 5 inch drone you will barely touch the 6 g level. It is just not possible to build a 10 inch drone for 200 $ that reaches 10 g 😀 Ok, if only you brake using a wall. However, we are nice and here to help the guy to understand what 60 A on ESC means.
I'm so thrilled to have found your channel!
Thanks for this end-to-end build video. I'm putting together a 10" quad soon too.
My 10" build is going to be used mainly for cruising and long-range sightseeing. So I'm going to use iNav instead of BetaFlight. Because iNav has _much_ better GPS features: position hold, RTH, waypoints, etc.
I'm also going to use traditional separate ESC instead of 4-in-1 because separate ESCs will cool better, and if one fails, its easy to replace instead of losing out an entire 4-in-1 ESC.
8:00 - I haven't seen anyone use full connector for a motor-to-ESC connection before! It would look much better and be lighter if you just used separate 3mm or 5mm bullets with heat shrink wrap. That is the usual way because motor-to-ESC connections are rarely ever separated once installed. Separate bullets are also much easier to solder also.
Just ordered everything what need from your list, thank you! Looking forward to build it
Very well done video its nice to watch an entire video without leaving before its over 🔥👍
You landed at 3.7v or 2300mah use , and still got 15 minutes? crazyy
Awesome video, finally someone building stuf that's not tiny screamers or big ones that are just gucci namebrand
sub 250g build next! :D
I had a good time building your 7 inch build, eager to try this one too. Love the FC choice this time
Did u use the fc and esc from Tsido ? And not the speedybee
@@fabian99688 for the 7 inch I used the ysido. it worked fine for me, but I wouldn't recommend it any more because it doesn't support servo control. I'm going with speedybee now
@@fabian99688 speedybee for this one, ysido worked great for me on the 7 inch but it doesn't have servo support
Wait yea did he use a transponder ? 😱🚨
Good advice about making sure the capacity will fit where you want it. The shorter you can keep your capacitor leads the better protection it will provide. Solder you cap as close as practical to the power pads.
Thanks for all the great suggestions in parts. I'm only seven minutes into the video so I haven't decided if I will build one or not. I'll need to see how long your flight times are before I decide.
You mention thread locker around ten minutes in. The first time I built my own quad, I didn't use thread locker. When I took the drone for the first test hover in my backyard, it looked like my drone was dripping wet. The "drips" were really screws falling out. Fortunately I managed to land before any of the motors came detached.
I also like to use connectors on my motors.
I like to have connectors for all the components since I like to experiment with different parts a lot. I use a lot of MX1.25 connectors since these are available both in male and female versions. I used to use standard 0.1" Dupont connectors but these are too big to be practical in a lot of my builds.
Thanks again for all the great suggestions.
It's crazy I built a 7" and been hooked ever since. Built a 8 skipped 9 and now I'm gonna build a 10.... I may build a 10" x8 I wanna build a monster this time. I'm definitely gonna a take advantage of the conflict pricing thats out there.I barely fly my 5"anymore I just like the way a big quad flies. So I'm sure I'm gonna love this video. I haven't watched it yet but I can't wait...
can you tell me the parts that you're thinking about for the 10 inches x8? which frame are you gonna get?
@@ΟρθόδοξοςΘεός I already got a mark 4 seven inch so I'll probably stick with that to be honest. Just cause it's cheap and I already have a lot of hardware for the mark4 platform. I'd like to run 8s so my esc will probably be the most expensive piece. 70 or 80 amp and I'm thinking 3115 size motors. I love the way a big quadcopter flies. Can't wait...
@@VinydFPV Do you know of any sources of information on how to build x8 drones from AliExpress? UA-cam videos or websites etc? If you recorded the process of making an x8 one and posted it I'd love to watch it.
@@ΟρθόδοξοςΘεός if this is your first drone I wouldn't suggest it. You'll be setting yourself up for heart ache...
Are you new to the hobby?
I was inspired by your 7 in build. Kept the clone frame, motors, props, vtx... but did a speedybee stack f4 60A with baro, betafpv superD true diversity receiver, my own red tpu 3d prints, hglrc gps + compas, foxeer 4 lolipop short sma antenna, and a iflight racecam r1 laying around.
Just got all the parts for this build, and the 3.5 build as well. goofed up and got the 7 inch frame instead of the 10 on accident, so I guess I'm building the 7 next 😅😅
good stuff dude. I've been wanting a drone for a few years now, and have been talking about it for awhile, it's cool the algo brought me here as it was kinda what I needed.
sounds like fun, good luck with the build!
10 inch is way to go. I was lucky to get exactly the same 10 inch Mark 4 clone for around $110 on blackfriday. Quiet, powerfull, accepts 3S-6S lipo or liion.
I credit Hoarder Sam with giving me the bug to build these things out. None of the prebuilt drones on the market seem to have the features or pricepoint I want and now I’m looking at building as many as I can so I can get my friends into flying these things.
Hell yeah! Speedy Bee stack! That's what I run on my 5" quads.
Good vid. Did look at these, would be good to see this frame tested properly especially with such thin arms, loaded up and dive tests would show wobbles, frame resonance and prop wash handling better.
what a time to be alive :^)
You jumped right in for real though. Thank you!
Nice finds! Now I need one.
You get straight to the point, great stuff bro
03 air unit 10 in gonna be awesome 👌
Built this, and flew it for the first time today. Power is absolutely insane so I crashed on my second flight. Got 4 new sets of props coming in the mail with new battery straps since the ones that came stock with my battery both snapped on the crash and had my battery hit my props. Thankfully I think I can still use my battery since all 6 cells are equally taking on voltage.
When will you you post the 10" Manta build? Will it use these same motors?
The frame fits a caddx turtle v2 perfectly in front! Like it was made for it.
Next a 15 inch x class build? I would love too see it and do the esc on the arm. And just see what you'd come up with all my parts should be in for the 10 inch by the 28th
That sounds cool but I can't find a cheap x-class frame :( The iflight one is like $250. For now I ordered a 15-inch frame from 9imod but I'm not sure if its really designed as an x-class
I just want to fly and cruise FOREVER !
Also clasps or “extra hands” helps or that thumb gum that don’t dry up.. that’s good too .. Crucial. Life is Easier with Pre-Fluxed Tin. Also flux paste or pen… Tweezers. A non flammable mat to work on top of. A box/space to put your unfinished work so your house don’t look like a hoarders.. Did I miss any SETUPS? If no thread lock! The 99 cent Home Depot pipe thread tape helps too! Or both 🤯 LANYARD!
For a GoPro mount, use the one from the Foxeer Aura 10. It fits perfectly. The mount for the Rekon 7 fits as well with a bit of heat and stretching. (I don't know what happened to my original comment so I left it again.)
Thanks I will try to see if I can find a stl for the Aura 10. I tried making my own 3d print (can briefly be seen in the failed ESC crash) but I didn't like it
@@hoardersam10 I can't remember if I got the prints for mine off of Foxeer's website or printables or thingiverse, but it was one of those 3 places. They're certainly available. I'm almost positive it was from Foxeer's website.
@@hoardersam10 yeah I just checked, there is a file download under the "downloads" tab on the Aura 10 product page.
i built one with arducopter and so far it works pretty well as well.
OMG, I had built almost the exact same build, just with 3110 motors 900kv. I haven't gotten something setup correctly as I'm getting tons of jello in my analog system.
How fast does it go?
Wow that's cool
Very nice build
What's the weight on those
Great stuff man
Great video, very entertaining. Best regards
Enjoying the videos. Just missing the total weight of the setups in each video description
Nice video Sam, but I believe I didn’t saw any pid tuning. Did you put a preset on there or just stock betaflight pid’s?
Stock betaflight PIDs for this build
I did this exact same build and stock betaflight tune tried to fly away, motors are sounding grindy af
@@Ryan.RiveraI have the same experience, motors are very grindy and they overheat like crazy. Lots of oscilations too. I triedbi-directional d-shot, PWM filters and different presets on betaflight, but it's not helping a whole lot. Also, prop wash is pretty gnarly. I'm honestly a bit stumped since PID is an esoteric mystery to me. Please let me know if you find a way to solve this issue.
@ I got you. Chris rosser has a betaflight 4.5 tuning video I plan on following, his first step is to decrease the master multiplier to 0.5 and increase in increments of 0.1 until it flies decent for a quick and dirty tune. I haven’t tried followed his video yet bc I haven’t had time. But I was playing with the tuning last weekend and one thing I found helpful was turning the filter (on the 3rd tab, the one next to the rates tab there’s those 2 sliders) down to like 0.3-0.4, seemed to help with the motors being hot and sounding bad. But this only helped when I had a 1300mah Lipo on it, once I strapped on a heavier 4200 6s li-ion battery the motors started struggling again. I would check out Chris’s video of you want to try and tune, that’s what I’m going to do bc this thing absolutely needs a tune, idk how the hell Sam got his to fly on stock PIDs
@@MrBelegus also fyi the magnets in the motors were all coming loose and falling down almost out of the bell, I had to pick up some loctite super glue and glue them back down, super inconvenient but… we are working with a budget 10” here lol
hey Hoarder, i love your channel and every budget build you do could you possibly make a sub 250 build preferably 3 inch range maybe 3.5 inch if possible thank you.
I actually have one filmed but the 3.5" JMT frame I used is out of production :(
I'm going to try to do another one with the flyfishrc volador 3.5 frame.
@@hoardersam10Thanks
Any specifics on the new props and the current sensor? I’m about to build the original, just got all the parts in. This is awesome. Do you have an idea of how far the pocket’s signal can go vs the vtx? Your videos are awesome. Thanks for sharing. It’s been a lot of fun getting into this hobby so far thanks to you.
Just the motors on my 10" were over $200! (T-Motor velox 3115 900kv) The fact that you built a 10" for the same price is pretty remarkable!
Great builds! I want to build my first one, Do you have any recommendations on which size controller, goggles, setup, and best way to learn to fly? thanks.
Do you have instructions on adding the gps?
Great Video. Quick questions Sam. I do not see battery type you are using in list of parts? And second question Mark4 accessory kit is gonna work on 10 inch frame or only for 7 in frame as it says in description? Thanks bud.
Please tell me what goggle are you using
I think this is exactly what I'm going to do as a first build. I can hear it now: 10" for a first drone???!!! I have long grass all over the place, so unless the price of props suddenly skyrockets, I can afford to break a few sets. Honestly, you had me at versatility. I still don't know which direction I want to go in this activity, but it's probably something like long range exploring. I like the idea of stability, and stealth. And I love the fact those massive motors can be practically idled and it'll still fly. This could be a heavy lifter if need be, or a loitering platform. Ya, thanks for this video, my mind is finally made up!
hi sam..thz for the video...i wish to know on how to fix 2 camera on drone for analog or digital......
They may be a small error on your diagram. ELRS to ESC connection. RX and TX need to be swapped.
Anyways, good job. Great effort to explain everything in a simple way. Thanks
Hey, could you please make a video of the frame assembly? Just so that as a beginner I can know what screw goes where. If not could you give me a guide for this frame please?
oh man I wanna see next video... and max speeed on this monster :D
so you give me no chose so Im subscribe you now
Did you have to change any of the filter settings? I just built one almost the same just the cheap stack that came with a kit.
Just came across your channel and subscribed its great. Was wondering if this would work for taking baits out for surf fishing? Can’t justify buying a designated fishing drone for 1500 but at this price it wouldn’t be a catastrophic deal if it got lost. It would need to carry 1-2 lbs about 400 yds out. I am very familiar with building rc projects and flying inexpensive drones just don’t really know a lot about what the capabilities are on something like this.
Yes I think it would be a good choice to carry that kind of payload. I will say the frame is kind of small so it's hard to attach stuff to it. You may want to check this 9imod frame out, it's physically larger which makes it easier to add custom payloads and such. I bought one and I want to try to make a custom sprayer drone with it: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeSvuI9
thanks a lot. Great work
nice voice. good job
do you have any option to mount a insta 360 go2 on it. Like a 3d model for a mount or somthing. its the same as a gopro mount. I would build it if i could mount my camera on top
Hello the cheap esc that burned was that the 45 or 60 amp? Btw love the video
The burned ESC was a 60 amp :( I thought it would work
@@hoardersam10 I burned a 60ah Skystars ESC on this frame. Axis Flying has a 80 ah model for 13inch. I will try that next time…
Hi, nice video, whats the payload capacity on this one? How much can the propellers lift?
How feasible would li-ion be for this?
which Dshot protocol to use? 300 or 600? does it matter or is it motor related?
The time has come
Please tell me, if I have a 21700 4S, what motors and props will be effective?
I think that might be a little small for the 10" build. 4s ~5000mah li-ion? Maybe if you can find the 1000kv+ versions of the 3115 motors
Thank u very intrresting!
Thank you, is it possible to upgrade the 5" drone to 10", If yes, what are the things we can reuse.
Should 3d print toroidal props on that☝️💥💫❤
Have you a tune video?
Thanks for the video man :), is this drone sufficient to drop fishing baits?
What would the load capacity of a drone like this be?
I remember back in the mid 90s I started a project using 12" airplane props powered by trimmer engines. Never had the funds/time to finish it, but it had plenty of thrust:weight ratio. I could never get the thrust balanced btwn the 2 engines sadly.
Bro I'm adicted with this video
or do you have a other option for the frame. where everything fits in?
Axisflying manta 10
@@hoardersam10 thank you so much, do you have a 3d model or a option for a mount that i can buy?
That’s SICK
Can you build this but with the props on the "topside" but mount the electronics on the "underside"?
Hey nice video! I have a question. Can I use the motors of the 10 inch drone to the 7 inch? What are the positives and numbers of doing that? Thanks!
You could and I think it would fly, it would just be a lot heavier than the normal 7 inch and so you would get less flight time.
Thanks for this tutorial. I came here from the 7" build vid.
Is it possible to have the OSD show angle/acro mode?
Yes, you can add a flight mode element to the OSD
Yo this is so sick! Inlove with this series. Keep it going bro! These are great videos. Any socials i could hit you up at?

I assembled this same build, but I couldn't get good results regarding pids, could you provide the pid and filter data?
Did you ever have any luck tuning? I just built this but it’s been crazy to tune. Stock betaflight def is not working for me, the motors sound awful
@@Ryan.Rivera The motors I used in my build were 2212 920KV with 1045 propellers, I couldn't get a good P&D ratio, besides the drone couldn't handle the winds very well, so I left the I gain value at 0.8 and relaxing the I term reduced the cutoff value to 3 and this significantly improved the flight, the other sliders were as follows: D gain at 1.4, P&I gains at 1, feed forward gains at 0.8 and the master multiplier to 0.8. The final pid result was:
p i d ff
roll 45 63 42 95
pitch 47 67 47 99

Hi Hoarder, Thank you for this video. I am inspired to build my first drone. I am ordering parts but don't see battery on your list. Can you suggest one I can use for 10" drone along with a link please?
6S 5000mah lipo, check out CNHL or ZEEE battery websites
Nice😎
What size battery straps do you use?
I think 8inch/200mm
Did you use presets pid or default pid?
Default PID
Hi, can you tell me which goggles are you using with the drone?
would the build be the same using the mark 4 13" frame? Same components just on the bigger frame?
This is very, very cool. I'm wondering how you had a GoPro mounted for the takeoff with the failed ESC? From looking at 3D models available, I'm thinking that the existing STL for the Mark 4 5" GoPro mount can likely be extended to fit this frame? Thanks
I modified a stl I found and extended it to work with this frame, which ended up with me having to mount the battery at the bottom which is pretty sketchy. I'll see if I can post the STL up, but I'd do it at your own risk since the big battery on the bottom is a big safety risk
@@hoardersam10 Also another question - how is your Pinecil soldering iron? Do you have the V1 or V2, and would you recommend them? Does it matter that it isn't grounded/do you use the grounding screw? Thanks
@@joshthebuilder247 I like my pinecil, I stopped using my weller soldering station because the pinecil is just so fast. I think I have the V1 because I bought it years ago. I'm not sure about grounding, I just power it with my USB-C phone charger

How does on hover?
Which rush cherry antenna should I buy? Ali has 12 options. SMA has 6 options.
RHCP SMA, I like the longer 150mm one
I'm going to be putting one of these together soon. Do you have any tips or tricks on betaflight tuning for this or possibly your tune as a starting point? I was hoping to see it in the video but didn't know any actual tuning done in beta flight
I did a little bit of tuning - the very first hop on the sidewalk I had it at 0.5 master multiplier because I was scared the big quad wouldn't handle the default 5" PID. But it turns out it still works well, I bumpted it up to 0.75 and then all the way to 1.0 stock betaflight PIDs and I felt that flew great
Yep , I had the cheap f4 stack and my esc flip over and caught on fire
Hello did you made some pid tuning on your build? could you share?
Stock PIDs that came with the speedybee
@@hoardersam10 thanks m8
Thank You, Sir.
Will This bind with DJI goggles and remote?
Thanks for the video, I just ordered everything. Added a GPS though, imho it would be very unresponsible to go long range without it.
I do have some questions which I hope you could help with:
1. I just ordered two Lipo packs of HobbyKing; 5000mAh, 6s, they are 'heavy'. Why did you not go with Li-ion since it would hold more energy per kg?
2. The braces in the frame seem to be very un aerodynamic, did you do anything to them to avoid too much prop drag?
3. I ordered a lollypop antenna for the VTX, however do you know which type of polarization should be used?
Thanks!
1. Li-ion would be better but they are a lot more expensive compared to the 5000mah lipos. I'm going to try to make my own li-ion in the future
2. I just left them stock, I think the stiffness is more important than the drag
3. RHCP is the norm for analog systems, while digital systems tend to use LHCP
What type of gps did you put on your build?
@k.weinheimer2222 The HGLRC M100-5883, should work.
Out of curiosity would it be possible to use DeWalt 20volt batterys to power this drone? I have several batteries and chargers.
What are the PID/fitlers settings?
Does this have remote ID?
Hi bro what is the maximum distance you can drive with this setups? And thank you for sharing I'm a new subscriber of your channel ❤
How much is the battery 6s?
Usually costs around $50-60 usd
Hi, what’s the link to the VTX table? I can’t see it in the description. Thanks.
love the video fallowed the build guide for everything except the motors, i found some 3515x400 drone motors for 60 bucks on FB market place, the guy wouldnt part them out so he let me give him 60 bucks for 20 of these brand new motors. my question is, can i use them with the flight stack in the video?
I build the same drone with inav and it was very unstable. I am not sure what the issue :) I will try again following your video and try beta-flight. You dont use gps ?
It is very hard to balance props at that size. It causes huge vibration problems.
hi, great assembly. I ordered the same on Aliexpress. unfortunately the FC arrived with 5' settings could you give me your PID figures to have an eco and stable quad like you?
I used the default PIDs that came with the speedybee
i hate to bother you again but how did you set up your elrs reciever i bought the speedy b
I set up the receiver at 22:00
Would it be possible to push the flight time to 30 minutes or even greater, I guess you could get a larger battery, but what other methods could one do?
Nice video btw, subscribed :)
