Just a few notes as I have built this (previous to the video). My max fly time so far is around 15 min and in that I covered 8 miles (in circles). Truth is I could have gone another mile easy- this was just cruising so your milage may vary. The peak amp draw on mine was 80 amps for a lift off which the 60a speedybee did fine but you won't want to do that continous- the lift off generated 10g force so this really does get up and go. The most important fact- this is a 4 pound beast and crashes are nasty. I actually have one filmed but the 3.5" JMT frame I used is out of production :( I'm going to try to do another one with the flyfishrc volador 3.5 frame.
Just came across your channel and subscribed its great. Was wondering if this would work for taking baits out for surf fishing? Can’t justify buying a designated fishing drone for 1500 but at this price it wouldn’t be a catastrophic deal if it got lost. It would need to carry 1-2 lbs about 400 yds out. I am very familiar with building rc projects and flying inexpensive drones just don’t really know a lot about what the capabilities are on something like this.
Yes I think it would be a good choice to carry that kind of payload. I will say the frame is kind of small so it's hard to attach stuff to it. You may want to check this 9imod frame out, it's physically larger which makes it easier to add custom payloads and such. I bought one and I want to try to make a custom sprayer drone with it: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeSvuI9
Honestly speaking I’ve been watching and building my own quads for about 4 years now ( within those 4 years I have only built 5 quads so I’m not a pro or anything like that) and a lot of times I’ve either lost track of how to build them from beginning to end or just completely forgot how to build or program them but I’ve been watching Joshua Bardwells for about 6 years now and although he’s absolutely one of the best informative quad builders/programmers I’ve watched his videos (even the videos he makes for beginners) I find a little hard to follow because at his level he does expect that the viewer has some understanding of what he’s doing so he tends to jump ahead and skip over some steps that I would like to see more of explanation of how (and why) he arrived at a certain point in the build. Nothing against him but sometimes I get lost and no matter how many times I review that particular section of the video I still am lost as to how he moved on to the next point but with your videos it’s made clear step by step with not too much “Tech-na-bable” which makes it far easier to understand. Thank you. I love and appreciate your build videos.💯💯👍👍🙂
@@Ryan.Rivera The motors I used in my build were 2212 920KV with 1045 propellers, I couldn't get a good P&D ratio, besides the drone couldn't handle the winds very well, so I left the I gain value at 0.8 and relaxing the I term reduced the cutoff value to 3 and this significantly improved the flight, the other sliders were as follows: D gain at 1.4, P&I gains at 1, feed forward gains at 0.8 and the master multiplier to 0.8. The final pid result was: p i d ff roll 45 63 42 95 pitch 47 67 47 99 Tell me if this configuration looks good on your drone

Do you have an idea of how far the pocket’s signal can go vs the vtx? Your videos are awesome. Thanks for sharing. It’s been a lot of fun getting into this hobby so far thanks to you.
This is very, very cool. I'm wondering how you had a GoPro mounted for the takeoff with the failed ESC? From looking at 3D models available, I'm thinking that the existing STL for the Mark 4 5" GoPro mount can likely be extended to fit this frame? Thanks
I modified a stl I found and extended it to work with this frame, which ended up with me having to mount the battery at the bottom which is pretty sketchy. I'll see if I can post the STL up, but I'd do it at your own risk since the big battery on the bottom is a big safety risk

Hmm, a 10 inch.... I like it! at 11:03, that wobbeling, was it caused by the FC or did you test your stick inputs?.... I would add a beeper with battery and a GPS to it.
I build the same drone with inav and it was very unstable. I am not sure what the issue :) I will try again following your video and try beta-flight. You dont use gps ?
I like this idea too. I wonder why it's not done more often, other than crashing on it. Still easy enough to fab some belly landing gear / bash guards.
I'm going to be putting one of these together soon. Do you have any tips or tricks on betaflight tuning for this or possibly your tune as a starting point? I was hoping to see it in the video but didn't know any actual tuning done in beta flight
I did a little bit of tuning - the very first hop on the sidewalk I had it at 0.5 master multiplier because I was scared the big quad wouldn't handle the default 5" PID. But it turns out it still works well, I bumpted it up to 0.75 and then all the way to 1.0 stock betaflight PIDs and I felt that flew great
Thanks for the video, I just ordered everything. Added a GPS though, imho it would be very unresponsible to go long range without it. I do have some questions which I hope you could help with: 1. I just ordered two Lipo packs of HobbyKing; 5000mAh, 6s, they are 'heavy'. Why did you not go with Li-ion since it would hold more energy per kg? 2. The braces in the frame seem to be very un aerodynamic, did you do anything to them to avoid too much prop drag? 3. I ordered a lollypop antenna for the VTX, however do you know which type of polarization should be used? Thanks!
1. Li-ion would be better but they are a lot more expensive compared to the 5000mah lipos. I'm going to try to make my own li-ion in the future 2. I just left them stock, I think the stiffness is more important than the drag 3. RHCP is the norm for analog systems, while digital systems tend to use LHCP
Hi Hoarder, Thank you for this video. I am inspired to build my first drone. I am ordering parts but don't see battery on your list. Can you suggest one I can use for 10" drone along with a link please?
Propeller efficiency increases with size (so the same amount of power will yield proportionally more thrust over time) this leads to longer flight times on the same battery. It also is able to carry more, so people put payloads on 10” quads

Now i installed the 3. One and while hovering i pull 13 amps. How can i reduce that? Make it more efficient? Thanks!

Would it be possible to push the flight time to 30 minutes or even greater, I guess you could get a larger battery, but what other methods could one do? Nice video btw, subscribed :)
This is true that basic FPV requires atleast analog camera which is there in this build but every FPV flight has an aim to record HD video for which GoPro or any similar action camera is must which is missing in this build, hmm ! that's why total views / likes ration of this video is not that motivating. I actually have one filmed but the 3.5" JMT frame I used is out of production :(
I'm going to try to do another one with the flyfishrc volador 3.5 frame.
@@hoardersam10Thanks
thanks a lot. Great work
Hi, nice video, whats the payload capacity on this one? How much can the propellers lift?
Should 3d print toroidal props on that☝️💥💫❤
Do you have instructions on adding the gps?
Please tell me what goggle are you using
Hello the cheap esc that burned was that the 45 or 60 amp? Btw love the video
The burned ESC was a 60 amp :( I thought it would work
@@hoardersam10 I burned a 60ah Skystars ESC on this frame. Axis Flying has a 80 ah model for 13inch. I will try that next time…
Just came across your channel and subscribed its great.
Thank you. I love and appreciate your build videos.💯💯👍👍🙂
nice voice. good job
Thank You, Sir.
I assembled this same build, but I couldn't get good results regarding pids, could you provide the pid and filter data?
Did you ever have any luck tuning? I just built this but it’s been crazy to tune. Stock betaflight def is not working for me, the motors sound awful
The final pid result was:
p i d ff
roll 45 63 42 95
pitch 47 67 47 99
Tell me if this configuration looks good on your drone
Did you have to change any of the filter settings? I just built one almost the same just the cheap stack that came with a kit.
What's a good alternative to the tindling battery?
I recommend paying $ for soldering gun w/flat tip & pointy. Like he says.. SO TRUE. If you build. Which YOU WILL. If you want to fly.
Have you a tune video?
Thank u very intrresting!
Out of curiosity would it be possible to use DeWalt 20volt batterys to power this drone? I have several batteries and chargers.
Hello did you made some pid tuning on your build? could you share?
Stock PIDs that came with the speedybee
@@hoardersam10 thanks m8
Please do a video on hovering
hi, great assembly. I ordered the same on Aliexpress. unfortunately the FC arrived with 5' settings could you give me your PID figures to have an eco and stable quad like you?
I used the default PIDs that came with the speedybee
Any specifics on the new props and the current sensor? I’m about to build the original, just got all the parts in. This is awesome. Do you have an idea of how far the pocket’s signal can go vs the vtx? Your videos are awesome. Thanks for sharing. It’s been a lot of fun getting into this hobby so far thanks to you.
What if I used 4115 400KV motors?
Can't find that vtx table in the description?
Here it is: rushfpv.net/pages/download-center
Hey nice video! I have a question. Can I use the motors of the 10 inch drone to the 7 inch? What are the positives and numbers of doing that? Thanks!
You could and I think it would fly, it would just be a lot heavier than the normal 7 inch and so you would get less flight time.
@@hoardersam10 Also another question - how is your Pinecil soldering iron? Do you have the V1 or V2, and would you recommend them? Does it matter that it isn't grounded/do you use the grounding screw? Thanks
@@joshthebuilder247 I like my pinecil, I stopped using my weller soldering station because the pinecil is just so fast. I think I have the V1 because I bought it years ago. I'm not sure about grounding, I just power it with my USB-C phone charger
@@hoardersam10 Thanks!
@@hoardersam10 i built the 7 inch because of ur vid and just ordered the 10 inch parts. Could u post the stl for yhe gopro?
What size battery straps do you use?
I think 8inch/200mm
What would the load capacity of a drone like this be?
That’s SICK
Hmm, a 10 inch.... I like it! at 11:03, that wobbeling, was it caused by the FC or did you test your stick inputs?.... I would add a beeper with battery and a GPS to it.
Make the 10 inch dji o3 drone I’m ready to make one make me feel more confident if I watch you build them fly
Did you use presets pid or default pid?
Default PID
I build the same drone with inav and it was very unstable. I am not sure what the issue :) I will try again following your video and try beta-flight. You dont use gps ?
It is very hard to balance props at that size. It causes huge vibration problems.
Yo this is so sick! Inlove with this series. Keep it going bro! These are great videos. Any socials i could hit you up at?
Thanks! For now I just have my email in my youtube about info, no other socials yet

Any advice about mounting the battery beneath the FC?
I like this idea too. I wonder why it's not done more often, other than crashing on it. Still easy enough to fab some belly landing gear / bash guards.
I'm going to be putting one of these together soon. Do you have any tips or tricks on betaflight tuning for this or possibly your tune as a starting point? I was hoping to see it in the video but didn't know any actual tuning done in beta flight
I did a little bit of tuning - the very first hop on the sidewalk I had it at 0.5 master multiplier because I was scared the big quad wouldn't handle the default 5" PID. But it turns out it still works well, I bumpted it up to 0.75 and then all the way to 1.0 stock betaflight PIDs and I felt that flew great
Thanks for this tutorial. I came here from the 7" build vid.
Is it possible to have the OSD show angle/acro mode?
Yes, you can add a flight mode element to the OSD
oh man I wanna see next video... and max speeed on this monster :D
so you give me no chose so Im subscribe you now
Should have flashed Bluejay ESC firmware and let these 3115 motors sing ;-)
Thanks for the video, I just ordered everything. Added a GPS though, imho it would be very unresponsible to go long range without it.
I do have some questions which I hope you could help with:
I'm going to try to make my own li-ion in the future
2. I just left them stock, I think the stiffness is more important than the drag
3. RHCP is the norm for analog systems, while digital systems tend to use LHCP
What type of gps did you put on your build?
@k.weinheimer2222 The HGLRC M100-5883, should work.
How does on hover?
Hi Hoarder, Thank you for this video. I am inspired to build my first drone. I am ordering parts but don't see battery on your list. Can you suggest one I can use for 10" drone along with a link please?
6S 5000mah lipo, check out CNHL or ZEEE battery websites
Yep , I had the cheap f4 stack and my esc flip over and caught on fire
Nice😎
What’s the link to the RushTank Solo VTX table? Thanks.
parts have doubled in price on ali express, even though it appears low when you add it to cart. Once added the price doubles for apparently no reason.
Thanks for the video man :), is this drone sufficient to drop fishing baits?
sorry new to this hobby, what benefit of 10 inch than 7 inch build?, look like people atract to 10 inch more
Propeller efficiency increases with size (so the same amount of power will yield proportionally more thrust over time) this leads to longer flight times on the same battery. It also is able to carry more, so people put payloads on 10” quads
Any idea how much it could lift?
Imagine getting a job dropping off food?! Like.. Yeah. I installed my flight line to land at you restaurant, pick up food & drop off via a Switch to a customers doorstep & tap “Send Home.. When will This Dat Arrive?
Soo I did the same build and get crazy vibrations and motors get hot. How do I fix this? Tnx
I bought the parts, and we will see how this goes.
i hate to bother you again but how did you set up your elrs reciever i bought the speedy b
I set up the receiver at 22:00
Hello! I build ur 7 inch and noe also the 10 inch. My lroblrm with the 10 inch: i burned 2 capacators. It pulls like 13 amps just for hovering.. no gopro/ 4000 mah fullsend li ion pack. With standard pid it was all shaky and i burned the first coacator just with hovering (22 amps pull). After tuning i could fly more stable, little shaky but more stable, but burned the 2. Capacator. Now i installed the 3. One and while hovering i pull 13 amps. How can i reduce that? Make it more efficient? Thanks!
Capacitor burning sounds unusual, that shouldn't be related to amp draw. What rating capacitors are you using?
@@hoardersam10 oh okay, well im using a 1000 35v capacitor
@@RickEoll That sounds OK to me. Is the polarity of the capacitor correct?
@@hoardersam10 yes the polarity is fine, I have built a few drones now… do u think 13 amps hovering us too much?
Hey, I am new at this and this is a great video. I want to ask something. Should I buy the same motors if I want to carry a load like 1-3 kg ? Also, would the 7 inch one be enough for carrying that load ? Thanks a lot.
1kg I think the 7-inch should be fine, 3kg I would lean towards 10-inch
@@hoardersam10 Really appreciate for this. Also, do you think 1300kv is enough for that payload or should I consider 10 if I need more range ? I want to achieve 15-20km with such payload if possible and trying to find the sweet spot for that.
No PIDs or Filters?
Betaflight stock PIDs that came with the Speedybee seem to be working OK for me
Would it be possible to push the flight time to 30 minutes or even greater, I guess you could get a larger battery, but what other methods could one do?
Nice video btw, subscribed :)
@hoardersam10: How sure are you that those sub 10A current reading are accurate?
In the end the mAh drawn seems to be correct
So for this being LR how far out will It go with the parts on it??
This is true that basic FPV requires atleast analog camera which is there in this build but every FPV flight has an aim to record HD video for which GoPro or any similar action camera is must which is missing in this build, hmm ! that's why total views / likes ration of this video is not that motivating.
But I still like your video and thanks to you for your great efforts, I hope you could workout some concoction to mount the action cam on it.
unfortunately speedybee doesnt recommend their f4v4 for a 10"..ask me how i know lol... dont get me wrong I LOVE my speedybee stacks and price point but have had issues not long after on my current 10" build. they have a new 60a esc which they have yet to confirm is ok for 10" so im trying a skystars stack *fingers crossed*
did it burn?

Hey thank you for video :) So I made my one 10 inch based on your recommend parts. But my doesn’t fly well the frame is suuuper noisy
Do you have maybe some tune for this quad ? Thanx :)
Are you using HQprop props or the no-name brand ones? It turns out the no-name brand props are pretty bad so now I'm only going to recommend the brand name HQprops
@@hoardersam10I wonder if this is my issue, I have crazy oscillations when I accelerate and the motors sound grindy af the more weight I add to the quad (larger batteries) Stock betaflight tune didn’t work for me on this or the 7”, just straight tried to fly away. Had to crazy glue down the magnets in the motors on the 10”, they were trying to slide out of the bell. I don’t want to deep dive into tuning but I don’t think I have a choice now, I’m in it too deep
Could I put 1.5-2 kilograms camera on this?
