I am having the same problem. Misfire, crank shaft sensor codes and camshaft sensor codes .I clear the codes and sometimes it runs good once I turn the truck off, let it cool off and try to restarted starts doing the same thing. Can you help me find the proble
P0017-00 crankshaft position- exhaust camshaft position correlation bank 1.... which one of these is this one?? 3.6l 2007 outlook manual ac if that Matters.
@Luis Banuelos considering I swapped jobs and (had to dig out the sensors) I don't recall which was what honestly. I do know if the engine is in the car your in for a mother fucking headache if you have to dig that mfr out.* I've since quite thar shop and went out on my own. But it's my weekend hustle so lol...
I have p0017 and p0018 and p0019 do u think its just sensor too only got 26k miles on this bad boy 2007 xr aura 3.6. U in CA? Would want for u to check it out
Mechanic Dave wow thanks for the info and the video. This has had me stumped for a while now. I'll be ordering the crank sensor and see if that fixes my issue.
Actually no it didn't. I replaced the crank sensor and cleared the computer and started it. It ran real rough for a few mins then cleared up. Then I test drove it and all the codes came back and it didn't have hardly any power.
Do you have any other suggestions? I can drive it and clear the code while pressing the gas and it takes off like it has a turbo or something but as soon as I let off and slow down it's sluggish again unless I clear the codes again
zoticus1 more than likely I would start with a very good engine oil flush and a good synthetic oil. Clear codes. Of it returns you’ll probably have to replace cam tentioners.
Mechanic Dave My mechanic changed all of the gas gate and now it’s reading many codes it’s reading misfire #2 #4 #6 and #1 when I drive my car, it’s heavy when you step on the gas. What do you think would be he solution to my problem? Please reply if you can help.
Claudio Baltazar yes it will. You can use a screwdriver or have someone hold the flywheel in place while you torque balancer. But if all the timings been set it really won’t matter after all that’s set because you’ll be finishing your work.
I've been having an issue with my outlook it's been having a bad misfire issues every now and again some times it will run fine for a couple weeks and other times it will misfire so bad it just sounds like it's going to die I've had codes po172 and po0300 in the past and codes for cylinders 2 4 and 6 could bad vvt solenoids cause this issue.
That looks like a used engine that's not going to be beautiful inside like a brand new motor whether you change the oil or not after time that's what happens. Those screens you're talking about can be cleaned. The gears you're talking about can be replaced and what's called a timing chain kit which includes all the gaskets the gears the chains the seals for the screens and other seals involved and the sealant to seal everything back up. We just did that with ours paid $175 for the kit didn't require a new motor. However I was watching this video trying to figure out where the sensor was because that was the next thing that went out after we fix the timing.
Eric Bailey a timing chain kit would not have fixed the old engine. The tensioner failed and the valves hit the pistons. What sensor are you looking for?
These motors are also in several GM offered vehicles the timing chain issues is a highly common issue with these motors and they're in a lot of vehicles not just Saturn Saturn's are usually a good brand they last for a long time. This motor setup is crap.
spacegiant12 the engines are made from junk metal. Costs a lot to machine and the rebuild kits are expensive too. Not to mention valves hot piston on this old one.
I have a 2007 saturn outlook xr 3.6, I keep getting service stabilitrak and service traction control and codes p0014 and p0017.
Good evening family and good health to everyone especially MENTAL. Thank you very much for sharing. 👍🏼🙏 Have a wonderful weekend
Thanks very clear explanation
I have a bad timing chain for sure 😢 is this a interference motor???

We're you getting crankshaft sensor codes for bank 1 bank 2 and all the camshaft sensor errors at the same time?
James D yes I did!!!
Mechanic Dave wow thanks for the info and the video. This has had me stumped for a while now. I'll be ordering the crank sensor and see if that fixes my issue.
James D hey buddy did you fix it??

2007 saturn ly7 engine getting p0017 crank cam corrolation error.
No chain noise and running good.

Dureid What codes are present? Also is it hard to start? Make sure spark and fuel are present on those cylinders.
Im about to do the timing on my 2007 outlook would the timing move once i torque the harmonic balancer

My saturn is making a knocking noise and its popping up a bunch of codes
Monique Sounds like a timing chain slapping. What codes do you have?
how much did u paid for the engine replacement?
juan velazquez it was a used engine and was $1900 😔
Thanks!!
Omg the battery location is crazy.
FLJAMESFL it’s not the smartest location especially if you have children sitting there.
Any suggestions?
James D you must do a CMP re-learn. You can only do it with a good scanner.
Mechanic Dave I got a Bluetooth scanner that hooks to my phone. I paid $20 for the gm scan capability but I'm not sure if that is good enough.
James D see if you can do the CMP relearn.
Mechanic Dave I don't have that option but would unhooking the battery do the same thing?
James D no it won’t.
Hey Dave I have an 08 Outlook and I'm getting a p0001 code what would that be?
Goto O'Reillys They will plug into your computer and tell you what the code is.

Most of these issues are from people not changing their oil often enough and not using a high quality synthetic oil.
2,4,6 cylinder is misfires
Check O2 sensors if you have that code. Sometimes bad fuel can be an issue. Add two bottles of octane booster and see if the problem goes away.
These motors are also in several GM offered vehicles the timing chain issues is a highly common issue with these motors and they're in a lot of vehicles not just Saturn Saturn's are usually a good brand they last for a long time. This motor setup is crap.
Y cant u just fix the old engine
