    Thanks for the Video I've been trying to do some research for couple days I've got a 2008 Chevy Malibu LT with the 3.6 V6 in it & been trying to figure out where the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor was located & out of all the Videos this 1 was literally the simplest & Straight Foward just shows how Comon Sense is lacking in the Mechanical World these days lol

    Does this 2011 chevy malibu 3.6 have a camshaft position sensor by chance?

  • @clawhammer704
    @clawhammer704 5 місяців тому +1

    This is a heck of a lot easier to get to than the 2007 Buick rendezvous 3.5 crank sensor.

    Hey what's going on Tim, I had a quick question I have a 2009 GMC Acadia with the 3.6 VVT , has a knocking sound but you can let it set and idle forever and it will never overheat or die. Once you try to drive it over around 2k RPM or 25 MPH it will start cutting out and eventually shut off. When I hook up to it with my scanner and watch live data the camshaft position sensor reading is always at 0 RPM while the engine is running. Could the Knock sensor be the issue here? I have already replaced the 4 whole VVT Sensors and Actuators among countless other pricey things. Thank you in advance.

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  Рік тому +1

      Sounds like the knock sensor which is right next to the crank sensor.

    Where's exactly is the camshaft position sensor located at on a 2008 saturn outlook

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  Рік тому

      The camshaft position sensors are different and are near the cams up above near the valve covers

    Thanks for the video, Tim! I'm looking to buy a 2012 Enclave with 100k miles that had its crankshaft position sensor replaced at 97,000. Is that a red flag with respect to the dependability of the car? Why was the one you replaced so dirty? Is that what you expected? Thanks!

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  Рік тому +1

      They will always be dirty,they are magnetized,as far as dependable I would say yes but not as dependable and long lasting as a Honda or Toyota,thanks for watching.

    Hey. I have 2007 XL7 and once on the motorway it shut the engine and now I have a timing chain fault code. What do you reckon? Is it more likely collision or the sensor?

    • @timzauto

      Sounds like the timing chain,make sure the chain is still on.

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  2 роки тому +1

      The knock sensor it "listens out for" the structure-borne vibrations from the engine block and converts these into electrical voltage signals.

    @Chevyguy05 Рік тому

    Just tried the cam shaft didn't fix the problem hopefully this one will fix it if not then I know its the timing. That's going to be expensive to fix

    Question
    My 2010 Buick enclave starts and some times it don’t start can it be this or the starter I have code p0017

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  Рік тому

      It will be the crank or cam sensor,since they are pretty easy to change,replace the crank sensor and see if your symptoms stop, if you don't have a graph scanner to look at all the sensors while it's running.

      PO335 Crank also PO340 will be Camshaft sensor,but most likely with these engines if it doesn't have a no start problem it will be the timing chain.

    Has anyone done this on an AWD? It took me 3 hours on a jack today. Wondering if there was an easier way. Had to do most of the job blind

      I am attempting it with a 3.6 GXP AWD and it looks like I need to remove the transfer case. This is going to be a big job for a $30 sensor.

      @timzauto
      I thought the G8 3.6 had the LY7 motor.
      This video is shaky and had too much of a close up to get a grasp on where he is under there..
      I looked under my car. And it looks like the sensor is located where I guess the transmission pan or whatever would be.

    • @timzauto
      @timzauto  Рік тому +2

      Good grief,it isn't shaky and I explain exactly where the sensor is,I even point out the knock sensor next to it,I film everything I don't have a film crew to film me,look under the car it's up above on the passenger side,I've done hundreds of 3.6 and that year they are all in the same place.

      No the 3.6 you got is for the rear wheel drive car. The same engine is in Camaro. The 3.6 on video is for front wheel drive cars.
