This is a solid built washer that stands the test of time and whirlpool/Kenmore washers were built like tanks and I love the quiet pack motor. My parents had a whirlpool washer that was built in 1975 and I can remember as a little kid watching the water fall lintel filter. My aunt had a 1977 lady kenmore washer with the triple dispenser and a dual action agitator. It also stand the test of Time along with a matching dryer. In harvest gold. Beautiful set
Imagine how many of these machines have been overloaded like this and have been able to keep going for years. The washers built today could never take such abuse for such an extended period of time.
I work at a very busy animal hospital and we have 2 industrial washers and 1 2016 Maytag washer and it gets overfilled all the time with towels and blankets with vomit/diarrhea and the Maytag gets it all clean and its only had to be repaired once. When we were buying Amana washers we were replacing them every 6 months.
It amazes me how it spins an overload of shirts around like they're nothing. That machine is truly built like a tank. Wow, when it stopped the wording on the agitator was perfectly level; you couldn't have planned that if you tried.
Hi Sir, when we came from England and landed in Canada. my Dad bought my Mom, a Kennmore washer, my bro was still in nappies. The Kennmore shit the bed, in a week, so my Dad got a GE Filter Flow, the Kennmore couldnt handle the constant nappy loads. The GE lasted 45 years. Sir the best machines are from the Rhineland now. Happy Thanksgiving.
Awesome video...Love your videos...thanks for the video...the VARI FLEX agitator is way better than Maytag Power-Fin agitator...the PF could not turnover an overloaded wash like this...( BTW, it just needed a little more water to make the rollover easier)...it's been 2 years, have you dismantled and parted the machine yet?
Even though it was a tad bit over loaded, I think it still did a pretty good job moving that load around!!! The only thing is that I wish the agitator had some sort of little fins near the top for a little extra agitation of the load...Thanks for the video Eugene and have a good night!!!
I know this is an older video but I was wondering if you had a pic or video of the controls? I was just curious wht they looked like as I have a 1971 Lady K with a white variflex agitator. Just wonder how similiar it looked to yours.
Can you imagine the junk they selling as washers today, trying to do a load of laundry like this? You'd have to make sure your repair guy was in speed dial. This Whirlpool washer was built like a work horse and was also built to last. The only thing that comes close and still a bit far off is the Speed Queen and the Maytag Commercial.

I Find That If You Add Your Detergent To The Empty Tub As It's Filling And Let Machine Agitate Before You Add Clothes You're Actually Able To See How Clothes Roll Over As You Add Them
Sounds like a single motor; direct drive pump - 2 valves from pump - recirculation (heard buzzing)/draining, 2 clutches; agitate/spin, 2nd 2 valves set - hot, cold water/spin rinse.
The pump is belt-driven. The pump has a flapper valve mechanically linked to the agitation shifter. It recirculates through a self-cleaning filter external to the tub during agitation (not through the detergent dispenser, that's a separate path opened by the valve that made the buzzing sound), backflushes the filter during drain. The buzz at 9:50 is the bleach dispenser solenoid.
Eugene, I noticed that after the detergent dispenser turned off, there was another buzzing sound that came on with out the dispenser being on. What was causing that problem?
Our nxt machine after a the GE, we got a TL Hotpoint, GE made washer, but that only lasted 2 years, then we went Maytag Denpendable, these machines can clean, nt sure about the Atlantis series.
Love your videos but I think it’s a shame that you constantly overload these machines. My mom had a 1962 whirlpool that lasted until the 2000’s with only one repair. The one thing I can remember is her having a fit if one of us overloaded the washer. I’m sure that’s one of the reasons they lasted so long.

I enjoyed it this machine is well built.

Back then machines would last like 30 years or so
I agree too
Overall, I really like this washer. It's very nice.
Sounds nice and quiet. To me, I love the sound of the detergent dispenser making that buzzing sound.
Can you please include the controls in the next video cuz I'm really interested to know how they do look like

clearly this has put the speed queen to shame

That was that one Kenmore . It happens though. Obviously they were pretty rugged machines as there are still many in use to this day .

If you look at the agitator post it has vertical ridges going down.
@@patcola7335 yes but it's not enough to really pull down the clothes...
@@maryrobert80 I was thinking more like a scrubboard rather than roll over.
@@patcola7335 Got ya!!!
I remember my Kenmore did that same squeak sound of the brake when the basket stopped spinning.

White Cottons "A" cycle has a 14-mins wash time.
And a hot wash temprature as opposed to warm in Colored Cottons "B" cycle.
That's the automatic temps. They're set by the wash time you set
Sounds Like The Tub Brake's Got A Little Play In It

Bleach dispenser solenoid engages at 4 min mark, turns off when control reaches 2 min.

Pump buzz?
You should look for a 1951 kenmore washer
I hear a clunking sound every once in a while. Where is that coming from?

Can you please clean the yuk out of the dispensers before you video a machine. All the hair and fuzz and crap in the bleach tray was gross!
