The ability to love is a truly great gift. It says nothing about whether the other(s) love you back, because it says nothing about whether or not they possess that gift themselves. As for what to do with that gift, be careful to protect it. Pearls and swine, so to speak. It's possible to get hurt too many times and end up pulling back completely. I know, I've been there.

Number one is something that took me a lifetime to learn. I have always heard, if you are in a position to delegate tasks to people and you really need something done, that you should ask the busiest person you know to do it. The reason behind it, is that the person rarely says no and they feel obligated to complete the things they have agreed to. I was always THAT person and I never slept or had me time. The best thing I ever did for my health was to learn to tell people no. It would serve you well to learn that early. Obviously, don’t say no to everything, because you don’t want to be THAT person either. Find a balance between yes and no that affords you time to sleep a solid 7 or 8 hours at night and a couple of hours a day to do something you enjoy.

It is weird that at one time or for YEARS you think you and your bestie wil be friends for life...then just one day you realise he/she brings you down more than lifting you up...when you want to leave the friendship, he/she does not understand why you all of a sudden ghost them...it is because I can't tell a person who I was so deeply connected with in his/her face that we are not compatible anymore without offending them. Usually they think all is well, because they became the toxic ones...the problem is that I myself do not feel comfortable around them anymore, but I don't want to hurt another's feelings...so difficult 🙈

I can feel your pain, but I think that opening up to them directly could really be the best action you can take - maybe they don't realize what they are doing and think to be in good faith. After speaking to them, if they still don't understand it would probably be time to move on.

Once I had an aunt who got upset with me for having cosmetic surgery and about a year later I had car trouble which led to a large expense, so she looked at it as an opportunity to shame me and expected me to agree with her. Well, I told her no, that I wasn't sorry. She never brought it up again. Loved it.

    3. 4. and 9. have been hard for me, cause people in my life who've been toxic, dramatic, and/or liars have often been family, whether by blood or otherwise, and its been hard cutting them off completely cause you can't ever really escape family.
i have been trying to work on the things on this list i can though, i've had many regrets and things to feel guilty about over the years, and learning to get over these things and accept my mistakes while trying not to make new one and accept those that i still do is quite the juggling act lol, i don't know how some people do it as easily as they seem to

I'm of two minds about this video. Each point made in isolation can alleviate a recurring problem. But as a whole the points in this video are part of a highly individualistic ethic, which while sure to be popular, eschews our role (or responsibility) in a given society or family. These roles are why folks endure some of these unpleasantries. The ethic of putting one's self first is not shared the world over but a defining characteristic of contemporary US culture.

"Spending money however you like." Is only valid to a point. If you make less then 100k a year, 100% agree. If you make a billion a year, no, you have a social responsbility to make the gears of economy run and help provide for those who can't provide for themselves, which, I would be more then willing to wager, 90% of the time, is because the profits of where they work were drawn off so hard that they are told the business can't afford to raise wages.

I particularly don’t really like the word “change” because when I hear that, I feel like it’s an obligation to change into something that’s not authentic. I prefer the terms “transformation” or “a work of art”. I’ve heard that people push others away because they were “taught that they should be accepted the way the are or get lost” but I don’t particularly agree with that, we are who we are and nobody is going to be perfect. It’s good to reflect but how would we know that it’s not just their problem and that it could be them that push us away? It’s ultimately not our responsibility to live up to other people’s perceptions of us

So, when my “best friend” got upset with me when I came out as lesbian and I told her I had a crush on one of our classmates, I shouldn’t have felt guilty.
I also felt guilty when I became friends with one of my classmates that the same person who was upset I was lesbian got angry with me because, and I quote, “You’re MY friend, NO ONE ELSE’S!” She treats me like I’m some sort of award she gets to parade around and show off. She refuses to understand that I’m a human person. She degrades all my ideas. Not to mention whenever she forced me to do a group project with her, she’d make me feel guilty for wanting her to help! She also made me feel guilty about applying for School Captain in year 6 saying “You’re not allowed to because it’d take you away from me!” And she made me feel guilty for saying no to her when she wanted me to do something she wanted to do but I didn’t. But I drew the line when she flat out told me that I wasn’t allowed to have a social life outside of her and her twins sister.

While I respect this video cause it is valid and relevant ,
ME? I only personally feel a sort of “guilt “ for not knowing “ something “ that could have saved someone I love from going through something that others around me knew when it was too late to stop it from happening I would say I would’ve saved myself from going through the same thing someone I loved went through but I would’ve rather went through it because it was deception that got me in it , but because I loved the person I never wanted them to be in the struggle ,
And when I figured out what others close to us knew it was too late to stop it no matter what I did to try and stop it from happening ,

This is a very dangerous video because of the ambiguous statements made. A negative person can be defined as anyone who disagrees with your ideal: mom, pop, siblings, church, country, religion etc. We humans are fallible both in our ideals and actions. The best we can do is “be with them but not of them”🤫

I'm 82. I am saddened at the selfish tone of your "self improvement." The problem with society today, from my decades experience, is that the desire to give and care for others is seriously lacking. Whining "What about me" seems universal. Not many of this new generation sacrifice for others. Yet the greatest joy for many of my age is loving and giving, with some sacrifice, to others. No one should tolerate abuse from another, but often those annoying, clinging people (often childhood friends) simply need a word or a few moments time. What does it really take from us to give it? So, I dont agree, as you seem to imply , that it's ok to put one's self first. I believe that leads to self hate, unhappiness division and loneliness. We are social beings. Our survival, mental and physical, depends on supporting and caring for others. And they the same for us. Kindness and empathy tend to promote the same.

Be proud of and appreciate the culture that your genetic ancestors created, it is a reflection of the abilities you have within and if you move to a nicer area respect and adapt to the culture there because obviously their culture knows something more than yours did thats why you moved closer to them because they did a better job.
