Know it's a long shot but could we please get an occasional class specific quest. I like the enternal throne expansions but since the overall narrative doesn't really change depending which class you are it feels less personal.
Yes! If they had stuck to class specific stories for the eternal throne expansions, they wouldn't be as hated due to being so repetitive for each of our characters.
think this is a problem that have been in the game ever since after the base game not just with eternal empire you have one story then it stops and you only get some comments about your new role while never really being your new role. you arent really the emperors wrath or dark/jedi council member or legendary underworld criminal or whatever you do the same busy work every other class do. id hope that they finally do something more with the stories like b I got to be Keeper give me a room in imperial intelligence where I can do small daily quests at least
I’m at least glad class origin is being addressed in dialogue now. Esp as an Inquisitor with NPCs actually referring to me as my origin title regularly unlike in the base dlc where it was like once or twice.
@@feliciastaldotter5168 Me too I've gotten through the eternal throne with my bounty hunter, jedi knight, Sith warrior, and Inquisitor. Worikig on the smuggler right now, but still got the consular, trooper and agent to get through it.
@@garyoak317 When you make a new character all the classes have their own story campaigns you go through to level up but once you've played them you can't replay them unless you make a new character... I just wish they would make those missions re-playable ( like how it is with the Eternal Empire story missions) so we dont have to make a new character every time we want to play those class missions again and try different choices
@@Menhtrol but when you replay the the Eternal Throne series while yes you can make different decisions they don’t change the outcome because you’ve already done it. So if you are really looking to try different choices just remake your toon. I have done it. You level so much faster now. I’m level 30 on Coruscant right now as I type.
What I’m anxious as can be to see is if they’re continuing old romances. No one has mentioned that AT ALL and to me that’s a very enjoyable part of the game.
This is something that also makes me sad. While I was watching the latest livestream and they were like 'new people to flirt with and kiss!' I was like 'okay but what about the already existing romances???'. You're married with a lot of the romances by now, does Bioware think I'm going to cheat or make new characters for every single new romance? Come ON
I'm actually pretty sad about renown going away. I understand lots didn't like it at end game, but as someone who likes to level alts and play completionist, you end up hitting level cap way before you get through the all content. Was always nice feeling like all your xp wasn't wasted as you continued to get renown ranks.
Not to mention that it helped grind conquest, tech fragments and light and darkside tokens. It won't be as fun going through 80% of the game at max level now, I'm always at max level by the time I've done the class story (partly cause I like grinding up to at least level 10 before starting so I can have the colour crystals I want and a mount from the start).
Wish they updated the character model faces throughout the game. Starting to get hard to see different personalities within npcs when you see the same looks reused for years. Player models sharing with the NPCs makes that a bit more glaring.
@@Brandon_Y. It would be a rework, yes. But an entirely new engine and different game? No. WoW did this, completely reworked all animations for all races, and they're way more emotive and have tons of work done to them. They could do slight new facial animations and stuff without having to completely change the entirety of the game.
Now we really need new weapon animations for different weapon type customization. Half of classes use their weapons only for auto-attacks or have abilities with alternative animations already present in the game.
That's kinda weird or not. There are SO MANY animations/emotes in the shop but the weapon (also the walk animation) are so stiff and poorly fleshed out. I mean imagine there where new animations, tbh I would spend some money for it 😂😂💰
@@Incenpilz y'know what, i actually forgot those existed since i don't use them. But yeah, if we get another fortnite dance ones in a while, that means they have resources for weapon animations, they just don't do it.
I wish they would allow a red ui theme for dark side characters.. feel like the blue doesn't fit many classes other than republic classes. Would also be awesome with maybe just a grey or more neutral colour UI, so it also could fit the style of character you want to play. The forced blue ui annoys me and have always done so, feel like a jedi knight fits the blue and agents, a councelor should be green, a sith warrior should be red and inquisitor should be purple.. would love that. Then light brown for bounty hunter, grey for smugler, white/orange for trooper and a dark blue for agents. would fit better, but ofc I'd love the ability to choose my own colour for every character that I want, would love a white ui for my white themed jedi guardian ^^ but that would probably never happen :p
I always thought of it like the U.I. is matching the colorscheme of the holo-communicator every character has. I think it would be a cool addition to be able to change the U.I. color, especially if you had access to RGB sliders.
For anyone who is curious about Preparing for New Expansions in SWTOR, here's my advice as a Player since 2011: Don't worry about it. No prep is usually required for Expansions, as you tend to earn everything you need as the new story goes along.
There's always been ways to get a jump. For several old xpacs, for example, if you planned ahead you could buy the best pvp gear right when you hit max level because the same currency was used to buy them. For this one I'd collect augment kits (and augments) for the new gear sets. Crafting skills aren't being updated at least for awhile after 7.0 launches - the current max kits and augments will be the best available. And if you want renown or social points titles now is your last chance to get some of them. But yeah, if all you do is run the stories and maybe vet flashpoints (definitely nothing wrong with being a casual swtor player afaic) and couldn't care less about exclusive titles then yes, you can probably also ignore augments and any other prep and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Store money - Max currencies you're not actually using just on the off chance they're used for something, or converted to something useful. (much more doable these days with credits being mostly meaningless) - Have your characters geared up and either on the fleet or in their ship for quick access to new content upon logging in - Focus on leveling to cap over doing story first - clear your inventory out on your main character(s) ("stash" included) Extras: Stockpile augment kits and augments. Endgame gear to RE on the off-chance it qualifies for any new RE mats. Stockpile a decent stack of each type of comp gift. Credits. Lots and lots and lots of credits. As many as you can get. Seriously people stop buying shit and stockpile.
@@AtomicArtumas relax dude the story will be 4 quests and 1 fp lol u will probably get lvl cap b4 the second quest dude what a pathetic xpac, the combat styles are nice tho
why does this feel like we will have to relearn the game almost from scratch. I def have plans to start a new character come release to see changes all the way around
I really hate that SWTOR continues to shortchange solo players. I've been a subscriber since the initial release, and was even a beta tester. I love the game, but I don't have desire to do group content, especially with PUGs. I doubt I'm the only one; I think there are a lot of solo players that would be way more active if SWTOR would make end-game content (operations and flashpoints) more accessible and/or rewarding for them. For example, why can't I choose three of my companions to do flashpoints, or seven of them to do an operation? Yeah, I get that the AI and maybe some UI aspects would probably have to be improved quite a bit, but if a group of NPCs works for the Revan fight, I think it could work for other content.
There is a VAST amount of solo content for this game compared to other MMOs and the gearing rewards are VERY kind to solo players compared to other MMOs. Raiding, dungeon crawling and PvP have ALWAYS been group content because...again...this is a Massive Multiplayer Online game. There are TONS of RPG elements that solo players get to enjoy, including soloable versions of story-driven Flash Points. If they were to dumb down Operations and Master Mode FPs for AIs to run through with a single player, then the group content enjoyers would suffer. And since this game does a great job catering to both sides, they don't want the group content players to feel like they're being jipped by easy content just to make the solo players, who want that experience without having to PUG or join a guild, happy. It sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. If you DESPERATELY want that top tier gear, then you're gonna have to socialize a bit, learn the mechanics of the Ops, and do said Ops with 7 other folks.
This gear whining is getting old. If you want to get the best gear, then yes, group up and get it. If you are a solo player, then having 4 item rating lower gear is literally irrelevant, that's still very kind to solo players while WoW has 40 item level difference between solo and hardcore players. This is not a singleplayer game. Flashpoints and operations are there to be cleared by groups (except HS and RR which can be soloed on master mode anyways). It's about time they are going back to the MMO roots instead of letting it be the meme of the mmo community for not giving a crap about group content.
How are solo players being shortchanged? If you're a solo player you will be over geared anyway. Everyone is always over geared in SWTOR. For example, most people currently have 306 gear but the only content that you need 306 gear for is the nature of progress operation in master mode. You can do anything else in the game easily with 290 gear. Also, you said you would do operations If they gave better rewards, now they will. In 7.0 the gear will be the reward. If you aren't doing any group content then why do you want the gear?
I've always appreciated your coverage of swtor over the years. You've been very helpful and informative with all changes and updates over the course of swtor's mechanics, thanks for all the time & work you put into into these videos 👍
7.0 is going to be really interesting, some of the changes look amazing. Others look seriously concerning. I think when making these many changes it's only natural. The expansion is definitely going to interesting.
I think it's a necessary this kind of change to maintain the game interesting for all players and I am trying to hold the hype low for now but it's difficult
@@enchantednetheritehoe 1. Skill pruning, this almost never works in mmorpgs. It doesnt feel good for long time players to loose skills. What, your juggernaut just forgot how to throw his lightsaber? 2.New gearing system, the old gearing was very casual friendly, and allowed you to gear no matter what kind of content you liked. It had issues, but a new system risks having even more issues. This depends to be seen, I guess. Those are my concerns, I am still cautiously optimistic tho.
Yeah, while I love the combat styles, and the new skill trees looks way more interesting than the current ones, but I am not sure if I am onboard with the itemization changes - sure getting rid of rng is all nice and dandy, but does it really have to be at the cost of moddables, and while locking out solo players and/or non-subscribers out of top level gear? (weapons in outfitter is also dope stuff) so yeah it's a very weirdly mixed bag for me :)
@@rottencorpse2162 Skill pruning happened in either 2.0 or 3.0 already, and literally everyone got over it almost immediately - not only that, but the entire concept of specs changed entirely from the launch version - I still miss my combo DF/Sab ridiculously OP gunslinger build, but also completely understood why. It was impossible to balance anything when a SS gunslinger was parsing like 40% lower than a cross-DF/Sab, and this was basically true of every class, and some of them were like exceedingly weird combos at that, like the old Jugg smash build that was completely meta for a while for literally ALL content, even though it made next to no sense as to why it would even work as well as it did. The gearing changes look fine - I have absolutely no clue why anyone's complaining about this other than people that never needed the gear in the first place. So what if people that literally never raid can't get the same level of gear as people that actually do initially? You straight up don't need it, and this game has been suffering a serious issue of "why should you put in the effort to raid at all when you can just buy the only raid-exclusive items in the game?" - An issue that IS a real issue that needs addressing - There's a reason no other successful MMO has ever removed any reason to do actual end-game content. Because if there's zero incentive to do it, well, no one's going to.
Fingers crossed for graphics updates on both our characters and notable NPC's to fix continuity like Satele's lightsaber hilt in the Jedi stories and SoR, Malgus' hilt in False Emperor, Vitiate's design in the Knight's final mission (to the model from Echoes of Oblivion), and maybe even Revan's armor in the flashpoints to use the white Cartel Market one. Oh, and for the love of flark, may they please, *please* make Kallig's Countenance compatible for hoods 😢
You're getting 2 hours tops worth of new content. Some asset swaps and a new User interface. Don't expect anything more than that. They never touched the graphics when they had the resources and they won't now when they barely have any funding or anyone working on the game.
@@edenarchive4150 They've touched the graphics multiple times and have done so with literally every update for the last half decade. Stop making things up

Great, informative video again thank you Swtorista! I think Outfit Designer is a pretty aspirational name for a stamping applet. Until they give us a way to save all of our outfits in a reference library that allows you to scroll through each piece for each slot which doesn’t take inventory, it will remain a stamping applet. Pointless trying to collect outfits in the game till they give us a decent in game outfits collections system outside of the cartel market.
I know the more specific guide videos are loved, but I personally think news styled and overview videos like this are the best swtorista videos. It's like listening to a news anchor talk about your favorite video game. I could listen all day as I grind missions.
I mean this sounds like WoW - down to talent trees, different specifications you can switch at particular points. Pruning of skills and less buttons to push. The gearing system is sounding a liltle like FFXIV
you are 100% on point. they try to pull in casuals but will loose their core base while doing it. then its not fancy enough for the casual new player and not hardcore enough for old players and RIP
Note on solo players getting best gear - from what I have read on officiall communications of BW - solo players will NEVER be able to get top gear within 7.0 system. They will eventually get to what is launch time top, but they specifically said that it happens "as ceiling will raise over time". So by the time solo players can get what will be on launch top gear, the maximum available through operations will raise as well. Also a note - you can be group player as well and still get locked out of top level gear, as operations that gives the track for best possible gear are locked to sub-only. Meaning that f2p/preferential players are out of luck even if they re not solo players. Unless of course there is some newer communication from BW I missed that backtracks on those things.
Yes there is a little more communication - one of the devs posts on an unofficial discord. I think there is a final gear ceiling from what I understand.
I don't like the idea that we will have to choose between having/not having certain abilities But we will have to see. Liking everything else so far though
I hope the ones i typically use will be all available, as long as that's met, i'm fine with the changes if it's balanced (meaning it's not just one configuration per style that is op as fuck but the others are garbage).
I think for the most part, you’ll get the core abilities (dps, tank, heal). So you’ll never be forced to sacrifice an ability for another. If anything, being light side sith and using Force Defense it might make it blue instead of red.
Good thing I found a good guild to join up for the new op for the gear. So the combat style is sort of similar to ffxiv's Job system just separated a bit so we can still have alts lol. And I'm glad it looks like they are gonna update the client and graphics engine update like Everquest is doing. Performance update will be the best one. :)
Glad you mentioned FFXIV. That's what I've been playing for years, but I've been curious about this for a while. FFXIV is the only MMORPG I've ever played, so is coming over here going to be a huge adjustment/disappointment, or are they too different to compare?
@@gaminsincereagan2321 SWTOR is more accustom to WoW with how gameplay works. The beauty about SWTOR is that you can play it like the old KOTOR games, turn off the chat HUD, and just go into the story for hours making decisions and exploring. FFXIV is quite different combat wise than SWTOR, but a lot of other things are similar, that most MMORPGs use. Like i said before, SWTOR is easier to compare it to wow than FFXIV, but even FF has some classic MMORPG systems in it. I think you'd enjoy it, you jsut have to get used to a LOT more fighting than FF. Because that's the one thing i didn't like about FF is that you don't really fight a ton throughout the game. SWTOR has a TON of fighting and a ton of story, so its a nice medium.
Honestly, the thing I'm most excited about is that I can pick a stealth option for all my characters. I'm planning to replay all 8 storylines, but I hate all the trash mobs. So I can't wait to play, say, the trooper storyline, with a stealth style to that I don't have to fight every single mob in the game.
I have been playing this game since launch and have always been subbed. It's my main game and I love my toon and the social aspect of it. I never would have imagined the close friends I would make through the game. But in my opinion what the game really needs is a new graphics engine. But we all know this is never going to happen. It's not just a copy-paste job from Hero Engine to let's say Unnreal Engine. The effort behind it would be the same as creating a new game and EA would never give BW the cash to do it. Especially not when the Star Wars license will run out by the end of 2023. Bioware is introducing a new character creation window that gives you the feeling of a 2021 release and then you see your character in the 10+ yeaer old graphics. This is kinda weird. I would literally go 2+ years without new content (already happened) if they would update the game engine to a modern standard. The possibilities they would have in regards to OWPvP, Sieges, etc.. with a new enigne are insane. Nevertheless I am looking forward to the new story and how the classes and class balance will be with 7.0.
While I do agree that better graphics could be great to have, I am also grateful that the engine is still that old overall since that allows me to still run the game even if my machine is old as fuck and is unable to run all the software needed to make newer graphics run
Imho, I don't think the graphics situation is as dire as you make it out to be. I started playing again on my new rig on 1440p with all the settings maxed out - and I was very impressed at how good the game looked. The stylized art they went with holds up really well and the lighting in the game is phenomenal.
I don't know why people started whining so much about the graphics. Not everything has to look like New World and new AAA game releases. I prefer that my characters look like they are from a fantasy game and not copypasted from real life, and they still don't look bad at all. These graphics fit Star Wars very well.
Is it strange that im more excited for the Video Coverage SWTORISTA will have about LOTS than I am about the actual expansion? Lol im legitimately going to wait to play until i see her coverage of it so im not trying to figure out all the changes on my own. You make this game so much better for all of us and we cant tell you how much we appreciate everything you do. Thank you so much and I cant wait for the future videos :D
Always so happy to see new Star Wars: The Old Republic content, and this update looks like it’s gonna be interesting, but good! Woohoo 🎉 thanks for keeping us viewers up to date with all the new info!
The thing I’m looking forward to is getting a stealth combat style added to my DPS, stealth through trash mobs before the mission instance then switch to DPS and enter.
It's annoying that they couldn't open up the Force combat styles more. I don't want to be a blaster-wielding Jedi or anything, but Tech combat styles have way more weapon variety and no real light/dark or factional themes. The Force classes are such direct mirrors of each other that Combat Styles barely change how your class looks and feels. It would be nice to be a heavy melee DPS with a saberstaff, or a tank with dual sabers.
I am really hoping for when you upgrade an ability such as Ensure and you give it the ability to remove debuffs. That it updates the text when you hover over the ability on your hotbar so it shows it original effects and the added bonus. That quality-of-life change would make things so much easier.
Some of this looks good, but a lot looks unnecessarily over-the-top. Losing Renown and having to level up to 80 will be annoying. Kinda annoying they’re getting rid of amplifiers after the insane amount of credits we’ve spent on them and those are a recent addition. As a solo player, it certainly appears that we get screwed in the gearing department…again.
@@whitesta8685 back to the roots as it once was. People just complaining that they can't get the best gear in the game basically for free and solo and mainly want it for the numbers listed on their character screen are somewhat hillarious.
I do have to admit I'm a bit sad mods are going away. It kind of allowed you to modify your gear to your playstyle and stats. Hopefully upgrading the gear with materials will allow you to do this.
the combat style part of video is misleading. as per the current Public Test Server the way combat styles work currently is going to be you will still have your class and advanced class you have chosen, however you will be able to at some point in the new expansion select a combat style which gives you access to play as a second advanced class (best way to describe it its like playing duel spec in wow but rather than it being duel spec for two talent tress its duel spec between two advanced classes) The thing that wasnt clear from the announcement videos from BIOWARE and was missleading, they sold it as if you could change your advanced classes as many times as want , however according to current Public Test Server you are advised you can only select 1 additional combat style and the decision unchangeable. My advice is before you select a second advanced style try out all the current advanced classes and identify which will work better with your play style.
A Sith Warrior story using Kinetic Ward - Shadow style (breaking the Earth and using chunks to shield you) would be cool. Light Side Sith Warrior was my favorite story.
Yes. Gear and Abilities are an issue. Feels a bit off when as a paying subscriber getting the best gear to play to the best of your abilities is by either A) Playing hard content that only a small elite group with elite attitudes towards the game and others play or B) Timegated on a schedule only BioWare knows. I want to play the game as I want to play it to get to the same goal as hardcore raiders. Our paths maybe different, but the goal: getting the best stuff shouldn't.
Hardest content = best gear sounds pretty straight forward and resonable to me. And getting into ops needs some work but sure is possible for everyone.
@@whitesta8685 This. I’m tired of the community building it up as an issue. Gearing is reworked so a player gets the gearing they need for the content they engage in (plus the gearing ceiling will move) so I don’t get the issue here.
@@slushg3326 Exactly. People also bring up "oh great, now it's like every other mmo". Not really this update from what I've seen on the forums and comments on the internet most people aren't happy with this in other words this update will make the game less profitable even a greedy person should see this expansion is flawed idk what the hell is happening with the developers.
Personally, for the Sith Warrior I'm still playing with right now, I'm choosing the two "combat styles related to that "origin" once the 7.0 update is out. I'll only unleash my imagination for new characters.
I hope the alliance can be rebuilt and become a MAJOR galactic power again. Semms fitting after all, uniting jedi and sith, voss and all. We should be able to not suck, especially when your allied to Mandalor. I wish I could become sith emperor or something.
I want class specific story lines back!!! It just makes no sense that a Jedi has exactly the same story as a smuggler and it destroys what made SWTOR a great game.
I can't wait to play the sith warrior story but shooting lightning as a sorcerer, now I'll have the 2 most cool things together, lightning and light side jaesa companion romanceable options unlocked in the same character
Except nothing is getting removed, i don't know how it's so hard to understand for some people. They put barely used abilities (no, i don't care about the 0.1% of the playerbase who think they won't be able to level a bounty hunter without a stun ability until level 70) in a skill tree, and we can use them whenever we want to. It's not even comparable to WoW where classes have 3-4 button core rotation because of all the abilities that were actually deleted from the game, while we have 3 action bars full of active abilities and all of them meant to be used.
@@arpadszabo661 I don't know man, from the video it made it seem like I still have certain abilities but I have to choose between them. You deserve a lot of credit for sticking with a game all these years that is less-than-popular, to put it nicely. You do a fantastic job with all of this content, and you seem like a wonderful person. But this update seems...off somehow. Like they are putting a fresh coat of paint on a broken down car. I dunno, the systems seem really confusing, very odd, and it doesn't seem like there is much to bring back people that left because we didnt like how the game has turned out. But hey, if you enjoy it, you do you. I am glad you get something to be excited for. I guess its just a wait and see type thing.
Well it's just asset swaps and rearranging old content. The only new thing they added was the UI. What's great is I can no longer get the best gear in the game as a solo player, so there goes any incentive to play after experiencing the story. The renown system at least gave me a reason to do non-endgame content and improve my gear. Now it's pointless. It'll probably have 2 hours of new story content at most and it's releasing a few days after FF14's Endwalker. Brilliant decision... Bunch of monkeys managing this game.
pulling abilities away is the wrong way to go, period. this is going to be one of those things that they walk back after it goes live. I give 4/5 months, tops. the concept is beyond silly.
I am looking forward to this expansion. the only thing that worries me is are we going to be able to use gear that drops right then, or have to wait until a higher level. I noticed this on the PTS already.
@@sG_Paradise I've done it with steam overlay, but it's wonky. Menu navigation being the worst of it. Usually set the LB RB as radial menus to map to the skills. The steam deck is where this is really going to work well

mildly related/nonrelated still kinda think attacks like saber throw should be universal to all force user professions just make it have variety on it's effects & effectiveness according to what the devs need for maintaining balance they want to keep, silly that some force sensitives can and cant.
“Subscribers are also going to be allowed to add a second combat style.” “You won’t be able to use force lightning and force choke on the same character.” Sooo... Does that just mean that the second combat style is limited to tech styles or were you just saying you can’t mix sorc+jug and you have to use just one at a time?
@@SeismicHammer There's the normal force choke ability that you get around level 7 on your starter world and then there's the legacy version of force choke that you get via the Heroic Moment ability after completing the Sith Warrior class story. Technically though Heroic Moment DOES allow you to use both force lightning and force choke if you have both stories complete on your legacy soooo.... You kinda can still use force lightning as a juggernaut.
I’m really looking forward to the new class setup, but I really wish they would get rid of the level cap. What is wrong with rewarding the players that want to keep playing all the side quests?
Maybe I'm alonnein this, but the prospect of loosing abilities.....worries me greatly. I like having many tools to use, experiment and adapt, and it feels like I'm going to end up loosing that factor. I get That dorm abilities, like the warrior's intervention can be optional, but loosing rebuke with my sentinel? That is a no go
You're 100% right to be worried on that front. I'm a bit biased as a PvPer, but seeing the choices we have to make on abilities that were originally just baseline for the class is really crappy. Removing silences and stuns (or making us pick them in the skill tree) is going to make casters a real issue...and I main a madness/lightning sorc. My mara and jugg friends are super bummed about it cuz they have to pick between some VERY important defensives...and now they'll only get 1 of them.
Very, very concerned for endgame with renown being taken away. There is no endgame progression without it, no reason at all to continue a subscription past blazing through the new story and operation content and then lapsing until something else new is added. That is extremely dangerous for an MMO.
@@whitesta8685 And what do we do with 7.0? I am really worried this will kill SWTOR unless they give us a vested reason to log in each day. And the login rewards ain't it.

What's really needed is the ability to joint the opposing faction based on your playstyle of Dark or Light. As in be able to start out on the Imperial side then switch to the Republic or start out as a Jedi and end up as a Sith.
That’d be cool but also the amount of effort they’d have to put into making content like that is in their eyes, not worth the effort. Also, most multiplayer games don’t let you switch factions midgame. I think they’d see it as a very niche thing to do, so not worth their time.
@@cloverlucky5977 but the fact it's part of the Lore should be all that's needed to put the effort in. They really should have had it be part of the game from the beginning instead of what we have as a Lightside Sith doesn't make any sense when you think about it. Also while we are on the subject of what should have been in the game from the beginning, they should have made the Smuggler and Bounty Hunter they own Independent faction and allowed them to work for either side considering both work for whoever pays the most which could have been the Darkside option leaving the Lightside option as choosing to remain loyal to the client. The biggest problem of all was EA insisting on using Bioware's Paragon and Renegade that was so successfully used in the Mass Effect series but totally wrong for Star Wars who's Lore is one of Balance and the risk of power corruption.
The thing that everyone seems to be worried about with this expansion (aside from the Theron issue) seems to be Gear. Honestly, I'm not a top tier operations type player, but the gearing they have planned seems problematic. Its essentially tossing away a lot of what made SWTOR unique and simply copying what other large MMO's like WoW or FFXIV are doing. (non moddable gear, sliding ilvl scales as time goes on, higher ilvl reserved for content not many people actually play, etc) That said, I'm sure the system will evolve over the course of the expansion as they receive more player feedback. I'm really not sure what direction they hope to take the game in especially after seeing how many systems they are stripping out of the game like Dark Vs Light and Renown, but I hope they at least replace them with something better instead of just removing them simply because they don't want to deal with them.
Basically they are going back to a previous gearing system used in SWTOR. In the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion the gearing was pretty similar to how it will be in 7.0 where new gear was released with each update/operation.
Played since launch & here we are ten years and quite possibly the most meager update I've seen offered from bioware. Trying to remain informed & optimistic but, not getting my hopes up too much in all this.
It does seem small. I do think there will be regular content updates though. I do worry that everyone will have done all the new content on release in under 1 hour though.
@@whitesta8685 i mean ravage that had nice long animation. The same was for master strike if you played jedy. Later they been removed by shitty animated things, that does not even look like saber strike.
I’m making a Dark Jedi Knight (Sith Sorcerer) now. I NEED a new personal stronghold based on the scenery of this new operation IMMEDIATELY. Pistol wielding Jedi = Neo of the Matrix = OP
@brandee Williamson Yeah because farming joke difficulty flashpoints for a few days to get the best gear in the game was really different and much more enjoyable. It really made everyone do all the content in the game. Some of you are really not capable of thinking.
@@lajtosanna2671 So now everyone is forced to play the garbage PVP mode or raids that require you to be in a large organized guild. As a solo player that doesn't like PVP there is no reason or incentive to participate in any content at all. Just play the story and unsubscribe. Brilliant design for a game already on life support. Try rubbing your two brain cells together a little harder next time before you say something.
I am looking forward to playing again, and experience the entire story with a new character. Probably either a dark side force user or a light side trooper type
I do not like how they are doing the gear. There will not be customization and solo/casual players will be left out of top gear. And what will happen to exchange gear. Which are modable that was already purchased. The rest sounds great.
Ugg, they should have kept mods etc and gotten rid of augments which unless you're ridiculously rich you can't afford (the best ones) and why remove renown, that was a good part of the game.
I do not think I am looking forward to this new expansion. I truly hope that the game is not totally revamped to look like a new game. I guess we will see.
On one hand i feel the changes are going to be really good in some areas, but i really like the current gear system, i don't know if it should be changed at all, but maybe it will end up being better.
@@Trump2024Vance Hmm, i'm not sure if the new gearing system is more for casuals than the one before, it sounds harder to gear up for casuals than in 7.0
My biggest hope is that they elaborate on being able to change your pre-existing character's innate combat styles. I'll be a BIT disappointed if I can't swap out Scoundrel for mercenary on my smuggler, because it'd go better aesthetically with Powertech as a second. But it is what it is.
i am exclusively a solo player just for the story. I used to get adaptive armor and weapons and put mods in every few levels. Ordinary, green mods were more than enough to finish the story. I am a casual player and if they made it harder to progress i am done with SWTOR
It would be great except I cannot get the combat logs and screenshots created. No new combat logs been created since February. Followed all the advices on both SWTOR sites and Reddit sites. The only thing I can think of is un-installing SWTOR but copy my toons to a separate drive and re-installing SWTOR. Plus, put my toons back in the SWTOR folder.
I quit as soon as you were just given an orobird instead of having to hatch one. That was one of the first signs this game was going to end up where it is today. Ill come back every once in awhile just to see the pain which was once love.

@@anteprs7908 The Game's Difficulty was already gutted years ago when they added scaling, now that they're changing the gearing system it just splits up players even more. Instead of being able to play all the content and being able to gear it streamlines it. ( Ok thinking back the gear change doesn't actually make the game more casual, just encourages you to do the harder content, I'm just still salty about the planet scaling ;( )
@swtorista, Swtor has some of the best conversation tree. This expansion looks good so far. I'm happy that they pushed this out to get it right. I may re-sub to be supportive. What are your views so far on this on the PTR? I would like to see Acina in action and I wonder how long Malgus can hold on for.
I was really hyped for this until I started reading up on these gear changes. Swtor is going back to the raiders are special and casuals are second-class citizens. The whole class change thing was the carrot on a stick to pull people back in. If you are a solo player this update will suck for you. Do your research and you will see it's all about the raiders because you have to be subbed to do those operations. So sick and tired of game devs giving the best gear to one group of players and screwing over everyone else. That's all this 7.0 update does. I have 4 level 75 characters and the highest Ilevel for them is only 274. It will be a nightmare with this update to gear them now.
Just a warning for all of you hoping to play stealth classes with anything other than vanilla weapons--you won't. I mean, I guess you can, but whatever class weapon you chose, you will also get that class abilities. So your Sith Assassin with two lightsabers would be a Sith Marauder. No stealth.
No it doesn't. You finally have to work a little bit for the best gear again. It's not that you ever had to have the highest item lvl to nearly oneshot npc's.
@@Thareldis no it's gonna be bad cause there forcing the player to play a certain mode over and over to get better gear that's makes the game repetitive. The game right now I can get good gear from pretty much all content and since it's from multiple sources the game doesn't become boring.
@@Thareldis True. People just love to whine about irrelevant crap. It was about time they focused on the mmorpg aspect more that they abandoned in 6.0.
@@sisigs4820 when the gamr launchef you could get the good stuff from two sources: PvP and Raids. And it was way more fun and satisfying to do those when you got decent gear through them. And if you get something useful it's like 0.5% better and will be replaced again in an hour. That's not fun at all.
@@Thareldis PVP is utter garbage and Raids are restricted to established guilds. You don't like those modes? then log off and cancel your sub. Those are your only options. Brilliant move for a game on life support.
Know it's a long shot but could we please get an occasional class specific quest.
I like the enternal throne expansions but since the overall narrative doesn't really change depending which class you are it feels less personal.
Yes! If they had stuck to class specific stories for the eternal throne expansions, they wouldn't be as hated due to being so repetitive for each of our characters.
think this is a problem that have been in the game ever since after the base game not just with eternal empire
you have one story then it stops and you only get some comments about your new role while never really being your new role. you arent really the emperors wrath or dark/jedi council member or legendary underworld criminal or whatever you do the same busy work every other class do.
id hope that they finally do something more with the stories like b I got to be Keeper give me a room in imperial intelligence where I can do small daily quests at least

Exactly they're just making the game even more casual
What are they replacing it with?
Agreed!
@@khazzeronTV Nothing. It's going to be like the old days, you hit cap and that's it.
You can really see the increase in detail on the newer npc models as opposed to players. I hope to see that same level in the future.
Wish they updated the character model faces throughout the game. Starting to get hard to see different personalities within npcs when you see the same looks reused for years. Player models sharing with the NPCs makes that a bit more glaring.
that would be a huge rework. and would probably be a different game and engine
yup

I so agree. The game needs a major aesthetic overhaul, not a bunch of tickle nerfs #HangsHead
@@alexquinn2390 I’d be more onboard with a RGB slider for the UI than set colors tbh. Always down for more customizability.
Agent should honestly just be black - but not that "ugly" black that's used in a lot of more basic UI, but the black that looks good.
@Sonic Mobian Yeah I was about to bring that up. I love those options.
I'd set my UI red for all my toons and 8 of my 12 toons are Light Side affiliated. I just like red :)
For anyone who is curious about Preparing for New Expansions in SWTOR, here's my advice as a Player since 2011:
Don't worry about it.
(much more doable these days with credits being mostly meaningless) - Have your characters geared up and either on the fleet or in their ship for quick access to new content upon logging in - Focus on leveling to cap over doing story first - clear your inventory out on your main character(s) ("stash" included)
Extras: Stockpile augment kits and augments. Endgame gear to RE on the off-chance it qualifies for any new RE mats. Stockpile a decent stack of each type of comp gift.
Credits. Lots and lots and lots of credits.
As many as you can get.
Seriously people stop buying shit and stockpile.
Thanks! I was stressing
Theres just some slight ability prune and a new ability here and there. The rest stays all the same.
Theres way to many mechanics for an AI to pull of. And if they script them Ops would become to easy and not what the developers had in mind.
@@arpadszabo4356 we found the elitist ops player
How are solo players being shortchanged? If you're a solo player you will be over geared anyway. Everyone is always over geared in SWTOR. For example, most people currently have 306 gear but the only content that you need 306 gear for is the nature of progress operation in master mode. You can do anything else in the game easily with 290 gear. Also, you said you would do operations If they gave better rewards, now they will. In 7.0 the gear will be the reward. If you aren't doing any group content then why do you want the gear?
Love how you show the high quality gun clipping thru twilek head tentacles. Really shows what the game is like. Combat against clipping outfits.

I think it's a necessary this kind of change to maintain the game interesting for all players and I am trying to hold the hype low for now but it's difficult
Can you tell what are the concerning changes ?
(weapons in outfitter is also dope stuff)
so yeah it's a very weirdly mixed bag for me :)

But we will have to see.
I love that, gives you at least some kind of customization. And unlike wow they will give you the loadout system which sounds awesome
Darth No is actualy Dr.No from James Bond. He survived the film and became a sith lord.
You got it! Lol
The graphics don't look like Second Life. What we have is perfect
Imho, I don't think the graphics situation is as dire as you make it out to be. I started playing again on my new rig on 1440p with all the settings maxed out - and I was very impressed at how good the game looked. The stylized art they went with holds up really well and the lighting in the game is phenomenal.
They already said they gonna make Graphical and Technical Improvments within 2022, so there is still hope to get atleast a better running engine.
I don't know why people started whining so much about the graphics. Not everything has to look like New World and new AAA game releases. I prefer that my characters look like they are from a fantasy game and not copypasted from real life, and they still don't look bad at all. These graphics fit Star Wars very well.
I was actually thinking on a resub today, I think I'll wait until the update drops! I don't want to become bored until then!
Im interested in the cosmic horror aproach.... ill have to check the operations and flashpoint videos to get into those modes
Is it strange that im more excited for the Video Coverage SWTORISTA will have about LOTS than I am about the actual expansion? Always so happy to see new Star Wars: The Old Republic content, and this update looks like it’s gonna be interesting, but good! Woohoo 🎉 thanks for keeping us viewers up to date with all the new info!
SWTOR sucks
I like the approach of hardest content = best gear that makes operations much more rewarding.

Hopefully upgrading the gear with materials will allow you to do this.
oh no !
What?
the combat style part of video is misleading. as per the current Public Test Server the way combat styles work currently is going to be you will still have your class and advanced class you have chosen, however you will be able to at some point in the new expansion select a combat style which gives you access to play as a second advanced class (best way to describe it its like playing duel spec in wow but rather than it being duel spec for two talent tress its duel spec between two advanced classes) The thing that wasnt clear from the announcement videos from BIOWARE and was missleading, they sold it as if you could change your advanced classes as many times as want , however according to current Public Test Server you are advised you can only select 1 additional combat style and the decision unchangeable.

I want class specific story lines back!!! It just makes no sense that a Jedi has exactly the same story as a smuggler and it destroys what made SWTOR a great game.

Hated when they did this in WoW(ability removal), something tells me I am going to hate it here just as well...

So much this. Agree. This will be a dumpster fire aimed at newbs.
I think it's definitely a "post quarantine" kinda expac. I was really hoping for more on the story stuff but I'll wait to judge it till it comes out!

Renown was useless anyway it had almost 0 involvement in engame progression.
@@whitesta8685 It was the ONLY means of endgame progression, other than the season pass which a lot of us blow through by paying cartel coins.

I’m worried about gear too because I’m not too big into operations.

Just a warning for all of you hoping to play stealth classes with anything other than vanilla weapons--you won't. I mean, I guess you can, but whatever class weapon you chose, you will also get that class abilities. So your Sith Assassin with two lightsabers would be a Sith Marauder. No stealth.
