Look all Im sayin is… imagine being one of the jedi that Revan turned under threat of death. Then you see him a few years later and youre like “oh hey its that guy” but now he is trying to kill you for being a sith
Although the Revan novel is far from perfect, something I loved is how it contrasts Revan's true nature with the image everyone has of him. Both the inhabitants of the Galaxy (especially the Jedi and Sith born thousands of years after him) and Star Wars fans even consider Revan as an omnipotent being whose personality, physique, way of acting, mentality, purposes, etc. completely surpass the understanding of any mortal. However, Revan shows on different occasionsthat he is still a human being with an ordinary mind and behavior, doing completely mundane things like walking down the street as a simple passerby or going to the bathroom to wash his face. In fact, this excerpt from the book sums up perfectly Revan's struggle with his "legend" status: "Revan. Jedi, hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. He was all those things and more. He was a living legend, the embodiment of myth and folklore, a figure who transcended history. Yet all that looked back at him was an ordinary man who hadn't slept in three nights."
Completely out of the blue but another character who I've found similar to what you described is Ragnar Lothbrok. Throughout the Vikings series we see him go from a humble farmer to a living legend amongst the Viking culture and people. "Descended from Odin himself." And the exploits we see on screen are retold by other character and varying points with great fascination. Yet we see that Ragnar is really just a struggling man who has made many mistakes and doesn't enjoy all that he has become. They really balance what he's done out of desire for ambition, fame, power, and to help his people with what he left behind to get to this point. "In my mind, I wish I had never left the farm."
I will never tire of hearing about Revan. The one being in history who was able to tame the dark side of the force and use it as a tool without succumbing to it's temptation. His goal was always to save the republic. that goal kept him on the right path. The mental prowess that man had combined with the skill and strategic mind he had... He was the closest thing to a force oracle that any mortal being could become. He had truly unique insight into every aspect of the force that no sith or Jedi could ever acheive alone. First a Jedi, then a war hero and saviour or the republic, then a dark lord of the sith, then the prodigal knight who saved it again. Then finally he single handedly held the true sith back for 300 years while the republic recovered. He had an undertanding of the force that no other being could ever come close to acheiving. While luke may have been the strongest Jedi ever, Revan needs to take the title of strongest force user. Even without the force he was a strategicv mastermind who would lead troops into battle personally with an unmatched charisma and skill of a warrior. Even the mandalorians - the greatest warriors in the galaxy - admired and respected him, saying only he drove them back. Nobody else even came close. Even palpatine greatly admired what Revan acheived and Bane himself based the rule of two on Revan's holocrons. The only force user i can think of that surpasses Revan is Abeloth herself, but she was more of a deity than a living being. As a living, breathing individual, Revan knew more of the force and it's aspects than any other being before or since. Anakin may have been the chosen one of his time, but Revan was the chosen one before him. If Revan were alive during the clone wars, i have no doubt he would have seen order 66 coming, maybe even turned it to his advntage. He would have used that strategic mind he had and put the peices together. He was just that good. He was Genius to fight fire with fire and stop the sith corrupting the jedi by corrupting them first, but doing all he could to preserve the republic itself. He did not want to rely on the star forge - a tool of the dark side - more than he had too, and knew the importance of fighting the true sith without it. the republic had to fight this war with what it had, and he made sure he gave it everything he could. He even loved his wife dearly, redeeming Bastila after she fell to the dark side, proving that love does not lead to the dark side. As Jolee bindo once said, 'Love is not a path to the dark side, but love leads to passion and jealousy. The order should be teaching you how to control these emotions, not deny them.' and had a son who went on to become a great pollitician. Just a shame TOR did him a dirty. He deserved so much more.

For him being a sith was just a means to an end. He was the most terrifying sith of all because he could just straight up devour you
I was never to keen on star wars movies or lore, but this video makes me really think about how much went into crafting this universe the world building of the comics and early animated series are just perfect
Somehow, I never understood the sheer gravity of Ajunta Pall while playing KotOR. "Dum-dee-dum. Just clearing out some tombs. Killing some monsters. Solving some puzzles. Redeeming the tortured soul of the first Lord of the Sith. I wonder what's for lunch back in the academy!"
The way I see it, the Sith have already achieved their goal of becoming immortal and conquering death. Maybe not physically but the memory of the Sith, their teachings, philosophy, their infamy, their legacy is well known throughout the galaxy and will continue to until the inevitable end of time. Their bodies may rot, but the Sith will never be forgotten. The way I see it, true immortality is being remembered forever, whether it be the Sith’s teaching or the individual Sith themselves. Disney may think the Sith is no more by killing Palpatine, but the Sith will never die.
The sith was mostly forgotten by the masses by the time the clone wars started and the jedi at that time didn't have a ton of information at that time. most of the jedi didn't anyway.
watching the lore videos of Marr, malgus and the Eternal Empire makes me miss the Good old days of SWTOR. Loads of Content and always something to look forward to... I always went back to SWTOR whenever a new storyline came out and now its perhaps the first time that i haven't reinstalled swtor to check out the new content... For a game that was part of my childhood, i miss SWTOR the most. The Game isn't dead, its just the Interest, i hope Broadsword will pull off a miracle to lure many back in... but ehhh, the current Conflict is dragging on for to long now...
Yes it was really special. Even though it's a more niche part of Star Wars I think I've never experienced any Star Wars media that feels more like Star Wars than SWTOR, brilliant.
Gd hate the new swtor stuff. Like m8 im the new head of zakuul. Im the leader of the eternal allience. Why tf am i FORCED to side AND basically serve under anlther fraction
This a legendary video! Thank you for this masterpiece. The old republic is my favorite era of Star Wars, the history of all the wars involving the Sith vs the republic is amazing
Darkhorse comics "Tales of the Jedi" are by far my favorite stories. I wish they had explored more from those eras verses a marathon of content from a very brief time period. An ancient galatic republic, and they manage to partially ruin the universe because they focus hard on the Vadar/Sidious storylines.
In Episode 2. Palpatine states "I wont let this Republic which has stood for [ 1000 years ] be split in two" . The line basically burys the Old Republic expanded Universe.
Not really. That line is stating the Republic in its current form. After the final Sith defeat at the battle of Ruson, the Ruson reformation occured which not only demilitarized the Republic, but changed quite a lot in its internal workings. The administration basically changed policies. This is explained in the EU as well and even given George's seal of approval if I remember correctly.
I remember playing through the sith sorcerer story line on swtor and my favorite part of the entire campaign was getting to ally with Darth Mar against revan, that was so cool and he was a great ally. Lowkey made me sad when he died.
Well... when it comes to Plagueis... knowing that he was killed by Sidious right after Sidious/Palpatine became supreme chancelor... I just realized one big factor... Maul wasnt actually "Darth"... so when Windu asked Yoda who did they kill: the master or the apprentice... well, it turns out neither... since the apprentice was Sidious and the master was Plagueis.... knowing Maul was thought to be dead verry shortly after 32bby... right at the same time Plagueis also died, that means Maul never had the title of Darth... Sidious hid that from Maul... Maul trully thought he was Sith... when in reality Sidious manipulated him from the begining... just goes to show just how a master of manipulation Sidious was...
Okay there was some wrong with Revan, when Revan and Malak discovered the Sith Emperor they decided to try to take him out because they thought they could not knowing his full power, he dominated them causing them to fall to the dark side, he SENT them back to the republic as vanguard to his own invasion ordering them to find and make use of the starforge and to report back when they crushed the republic's resistance and broke free of the Emperor's control as they found and boarded the star forge.
God I can’t get enough of your long form content! (Especially when it’s sith related) I’ve almost watched every single video of yours. Except the very early ones. I’m close but I keep repeating the long forms!
Im aware this is a 4 hour video, but im a little saddened that some of the "minor" sith aren't explained here like Murr and Vitiate (before he used essence transfer) Andeddou (I dont know how to spell his name) Vectavis, and especialfy Freedon Nadd
i've looked but cant find out anywhere where its actually said he buried them in a traditional sense, he buried them in the ruins of the jedi temple but the sacking was still in process not after.
When will this treachery end ? Only that which is purely truth shall gain ultimate power and that undeniable truth dwells within that of the choosen one. JarJar Binks
So Darth Ruin Believe that he was the only true being in existence, and everything else was just a manifestation of his thoughts. If that's the case, where did he originate from? I would be that ONE student to ask that question, and soon afterwards to have my neck broken with a force choke.
Exar Kun was very very succesful, but saying that no one came closer then him to bringing down the Republic until Sidious rather downplays the dire state of affairs in KOTOR2: Administrative droid projects estimate that without immediate intervention the Republic will collapse in one standard month, and by the end of the game the Jedi had been purged to 4 canonical survivors (Atris, Revan (if he even counts given his disappearance), the Exile, Bastila) with half a dozen prospects for new Jedi. Exar left the Republic and the Jedi Order on it's knees, 40 years later the wars left them on critical life support.
I love hearing about the history of both light and dark, though i think it would be cool if the bendu order was more prominent in Star Wars past the unification
Darth Jar Jar is the most powerful. He was never found out, followed closely by Dark Starkiller. He rests in Legends, but there’s always a truth in legends.
Definitely thought there would be a bit more between millennial and tenebrous since I've been hoping I just wasn't looking in the right places, but I absolutely love the majority of these for the detail included while also being relatively succinct. Awesome video!
@@3nuts-502it’s not even just that. It’s when you have more or less the antithesis of why the original trilogy was beloved to begin with. Episode IV was very different from everything else that was out at the time and wasn’t expected to be a hit at all. Just some guy making his weird nerdy movie about space wizards and the main antagonist was an evil space wizard who looks like a robot and has a robotic voice and is based, visually, off of Dr. Doom. All of that was very different from everything else out at that time. Episode V ending on a cliff hanger to generate anticipation for the next movie also was pretty new. And the part where essentially the bad guys win and all the good guys lose. Then you have the Ewoks where things are kinda going the wrong direction. That’s when they started to focus a bit too hardcore on selling toys and merchandising and to an extent it was at the expense of the story and made it a little less of what made the first two special and was leaning more into checking boxes for things to sell. Then episode 1 had jar jar who was shamelessly there to sell toys and check the zany whacky character box that Ewoks existed for but worse. And it kept going downhill from there and gradually becoming more and more of a commercial product to sell that check this box and that than a creative story. And that was before Disney. It was always headed for this downward spiral. Disney just sped up the process.
What’s funny about the Sith and the Jedi is that their philosophical worldviews are in no way resonant to the political systems they have tied themselves to, it’s as if they were politically “switched at birth” as if were, and a part of me wonders if this was intentional, given what happens in the story. The Sith preach about pure self assertion, power, individualism, consistent striving for dark power in a staunch rejection of any balancing agent, society, or higher authority. Yet at the same time, every political system they create are autocratic empires, monarchies, dictatorships; and not just that, but they are heavily militaristic. By its very design, rampant militarism and empire implies trillions of lifeforms must, to an extent, do away with their wants and desires for the sake of the empire which they serve, to be an oppressed cog in its machine, to die for it, to have your ambitions checked and policed by it. Is it any wonder why every Sith empire cannibalizes itself? Such an individualistic caste bonded to the whims of one true sith? The Jedi on the other hand embody a rejection of ego, becoming one with the force, living in harmony with others, and serving the will of the force; yet they consistently tie themselves to the republic. A government whose political nature and electoral process, even at its best, incentivizes self interest, rivalry, and conflict between divided assemblies and political classes from myriads of disjointed worlds, and in the end, that republic ate the Jedi whole when it’s corruption and inability to reach consensus led to palpatine coming to power. It’s such an odd coincidence, it’s almost as if the force itself is sowing seeds for eternal conflict and contradiction. The group that advocates for assimilation and renunciation defends a diverse and selfish republic; and the group that advocates for constant will to power and indivual strength repeatedly creates orders where only one person can be the most powerful, while the rest have to get be up their identity and power. What if the Jedi had an autocratic government that was of one mind? What if the Sith were able to express their ambition healthily in a republic system? One wonders how different they’d be.
I think it was set up that way intentionally. Sort of a nod that the Jedi still have desires and attachments, just try to not outwardly show it. They live vicariously through their beloved republic, in denial it is rotting right in front of them. The Sith are pretty similar, in that their desire for power cannot be quenched. Mostly brave, viscious, and cunning on their way to power. But they become fearful, unmotivated, and lonely when they attain it. The further each individual gets from being balanced, the worse off they are for it. They are two sides of the same coin, but both deny it.
Super interesting theory! Would be a interesting story to see a Jedi dictatorship and a Sith Republic. Both could easily still slip into the traditional roles with that reverse and feels like it would allow each to really blossom into what they really are. Very interesting...
Time travel without the aid of a worm-hole is a death trap. Our planet is constantly in motion orbiting a star that is itself constantly in motion. Separation of two points in time isn't just the years but the vast differences in space. Go back in time far enough, and the distance exceeds light years. A quick time jaunt likely leads to death by the vacuum of space.
I’m confused. I thought Revan and Malik were turned to the dark side when they went to confront the sith emperor after the mandalorian wars. All research confirms this. Where are you getting that he made a choice to do that?
@geetsly's EXAR KUN was not vaniquished by luke skywalker. it was luke apprentices in luke jedi academy that finally defeated exar kun's spirit, at the time on the spirit death of kun, Luke Skywalker was in a dark side trance or coma
What I would do so to create a Red Alert/Flashpoint Paradox scenario against the bastard fiend Ajunta Pall... would make for a very interesting alt-universe, this worldline.
This video is only 10 minutes short of how long it will be before I have to wake up for work in the morning. Stayed up watching the newest episodes of the bad batch and I don't regret a damn thing
I thought that Revan and Malik tried to fight the Sith emperor when they first found him, but their minds were dominated instead and sent back to the republic to weaken it ahead of the main invasion. Unless there is material stating otherwise I thought thats what happened?
Umm there are force monks (grey jedi) in the EU. They appear in a couple of books. The views of the Jedi and Sith are counter points, while the force itself is just that, the force. Emotional and other wants are applied by the users wants and needs. You can't have light without darkness, you can't have life without death, everything kills some how to eat, but eating keeps you alive.
I don’t think it’s true that Zana beat off Darth Bane’s essence transfer. I always interpreted that passage as Bane and Zana’s essences being equal and coming to some level of fusion. Not one over coming the other.
2:05:10 Malgus one of the goat sith And was hunted by a future grand master and let her go Understood conflict was nessacary and fundamental to the force and life. Took eu luke till the end of crucible to gain this insight. No death date...hmmm

A great video. The only thing is you have malcus's story backwards. He went to croissant after corvan. The twelik was never his wife. His was just his lover. And when she was injured is when they went into a rage and then he got injured on alderaan after he realized that she was a liability and he killed her. That's when he got critically injured. I was never to keen on star wars movies or lore, but this video makes me really think about how much went into crafting this universe the world building of the comics and early animated series are just perfect
Legends Sith are amazing and cool, from the past to future.

HEY!! GIMME BACK MY STARMAP YOU F***ING ALIENS
Very funny Hayden Christensen
Darth Marr is just the best. Love him so much and I'm still sad about his end... Also, i def ship him with Satele Shan! XD

“Is it possible to learn this power?”
"Not from a Jedi." 😏😏
Somehow, I never understood the sheer gravity of Ajunta Pall while playing KotOR.
"Dum-dee-dum. Just clearing out some tombs. Killing some monsters. Solving some puzzles. Redeeming the tortured soul of the first Lord of the Sith. I wonder what's for lunch back in the academy!"
Darth Scion "Thanks to denial. I'm immortal."
ah yes the true sourcenof immortality
n o
Darth Malak: "Violent outbursts"
Darth Nihilus: “They told me the world could be my oyster. And I *really* like seafood.”
The sheer, unmitigated gaul of Plagueis to stare a ghost in the face, and tell it that it doesn't exist.
You forgot arguably the best Sith character in all of Star Wars Darth Traya.
In my language, Darth "Gravid" literally means Darth "Pregnant", this dude makes me chuckle 😂😂
What language is it?
@@kianvandenberg6364 Norwegian! But I'm pretty sure it goes for Danish and Swedish as well, although I'm too lazy to check 😂
Bros biggest enemy had to be darth abortion
Gravid means pregnant in English too.
watching the lore videos of Marr, malgus and the Eternal Empire makes me miss the Good old days of SWTOR.
3 hours, 51 minutes and 8 seconds of Sith lore - It's everything we could've hoped for 👍👍👍
Darkhorse comics "Tales of the Jedi" are by far my favorite stories.
Yea it’s not the first time a line in the movies fits poorly with the eu I wouldn’t lose sleep over it if I was you
Nah, it doesn't
I think Nihilus needed some snickers to satisfy his hunger.
You're not you when you're hungry!
(Especially when it’s sith related)
I’ve almost watched every single video of yours. Except the very early ones. I’m close but I keep repeating the long forms!
Exactly
You should make Sequel Siths. Lumiya, Caedus, Krayt and Wredd
YES!!! I have always wished there were a list like this, and this is like a Christmas-present! Thank you!!! 😄🎁
These old world Sith are awesome!
I spent thousands getting every action figure for my son. Most are custom made.

If by "slip inside" you mean crashing a dropship through the front door, then yeah, they definitely accomplished that. :p
Plaguise bullying a ghost back into his grave is a bold move💀
Im aware this is a 4 hour video, but im a little saddened that some of the "minor" sith aren't explained here like Murr and Vitiate (before he used essence transfer) Andeddou (I dont know how to spell his name) Vectavis, and especialfy Freedon Nadd
Same here
I'd also mention Drear and Scabrous as some of the Sith I would have liked to see
Through passion, i gain strength.Through Strength, I gain Power. Through Power, I gain Victory.
A four hour video? Sign me the fuck up. Thank you!!!
I managed to sit through all of this. It was awesome. Thanks Geetsly. This was fun.
This might be the best thing I'm ever going to watch
Should have mentioned that Malgus respected the Jedi enough to bury the bodies of the Jedi after the sacking of courasant
i've looked but cant find out anywhere where its actually said he buried them in a traditional sense, he buried them in the ruins of the jedi temple but the sacking was still in process not after.
When will this treachery end ? Only that which is purely truth shall gain ultimate power and that undeniable truth dwells within that of the choosen one. JarJar Binks
Of course it is a great opportunity for you Hayden I and I am happy helping you with your job oon you tube ❤
Darth Marr is such a boss
Horizon is the shit. The story telling and lore is absolutely captivating.
Probably the greatest video of Star Wars lore I’ve ever watched. Thanks guys.
Darth Jar Jar is the most powerful. He was never found out, followed closely by Dark Starkiller. He rests in Legends, but there’s always a truth in legends.
Exar kun papaltine reborn darth caedus darth krayt murr krueller all more powerful than dark starkiller
Definitely thought there would be a bit more between millennial and tenebrous since I've been hoping I just wasn't looking in the right places, but I absolutely love the majority of these for the detail included while also being relatively succinct. Awesome video!
This makes me cry. So much material and Disney just want to make garbage
Thats what happens when they let the scissoring sisters take control of the franchise.
Old Republic: if they didn't die on screen
Disney: if they died on screen, no they didn't
I really love your content but you could have included the Sith that were still kicking around after the fall of the empire. Krayt, Talon,Wylokk etc
You would think the Jedi Order would learn from their past mistakes.
It’s just a vicious cycle
Just like in Real Life
A quiet shift (to not cause drama) to a Sixers team with Maxey as the 1 as Joel as the 2 is this team best future if you ask me
What’s funny about the Sith and the Jedi is that their philosophical worldviews are in no way resonant to the political systems they have tied themselves to, it’s as if they were politically “switched at birth” as if were, and a part of me wonders if this was intentional, given what happens in the story.
Really cool perspective, I can’t believe more people don’t point that coincidence out. I wonder if that was intentional, or by the will of the force.
Well damn. I never thought of it that way, but that's what I call irony.
Brilliant read. Makes you think.
They are not a treath
They are freedom fighters
It's the jedi that holds the galaxy enslaved
They are the vampires of space who fight religion
U had me at Darth Binks 😂
Time travel without the aid of a worm-hole is a death trap. Our planet is constantly in motion orbiting a star that is itself constantly in motion.
Separation of two points in time isn't just the years but the vast differences in space.
Go back in time far enough, and the distance exceeds light years.
A quick time jaunt likely leads to death by the vacuum of space.
I’m confused. I thought Revan and Malik were turned to the dark side when they went to confront the sith emperor after the mandalorian wars. All research confirms this. Where are you getting that he made a choice to do that?
It's said by kreia in kotor 2. It was the sentiment before the novel and MMO shit on Revans arc.
yeah it's a bunch of nonsense.
@geetsly's EXAR KUN was not vaniquished by luke skywalker. it was luke apprentices in luke jedi academy that finally defeated exar kun's spirit, at the time on the spirit death of kun, Luke Skywalker was in a dark side trance or coma
Incredible Star Wars education. Thank you so much
So lets get this straight. George wants you to think anakin/vader is the strongest but its really his son luke
Unless there is material stating otherwise I thought thats what happened?
yeah, he missed pretty much the only reason the jedi civil war even started
Scion the lord of nuh-uh. He legit would be that one kid who uses a everything proof sheild during recess
I say "ay yoo" from time to time. When he mentioned Yoda as a padawan, my response was naturally "Ay Yooo"
"Da"

Umm there are force monks (grey jedi) in the EU. They appear in a couple of books. The views of the Jedi and Sith are counter points, while the force itself is just that, the force. Emotional and other wants are applied by the users wants and needs. You can't have light without darkness, you can't have life without death, everything kills some how to eat, but eating keeps you alive.
Love your videos dude
I have watched this probably 100 times now… but it always comes on after I fall asleep

Definitely makes sense absolutely fantastic work altogether
What would've happened if Palpatine had possession of the Star Forge?
Absolutely magnificent work so far though

A great video. The only thing is you have malcus's story backwards. He went to croissant after corvan. The twelik was never his wife. His was just his lover. And when she was injured is when they went into a rage and then he got injured on alderaan after he realized that she was a liability and he killed her. That's when he got critically injured. Go watch the BioWare movies for Star wars nights of the Old Republic. They get the correct order
And now Disney is acting like the Sith without any of the cool factor
I believe Darth jar jar was the first sith he was just so good at being a sith he orchestrated the entire timeline making it seem like he had nothing to do with anything
trueee
