Hey Swtorista, in no way i want to devaluate your guides with the following statement as your videos and your website helped me alot over the last couple of years, but damn girl, i could listen to your awesome, clear and cute voice day and night!
I feel like the best idea that's not in the combat style choice is being able to combine 2 of the same combat style but from the other faction (Marauder + Sentinel, Shadow + Assassin, etc.) With the training you get to "transcend" light and dark during Eternal Thrown as a force user, I feel like it would make sense to be able to have a mix of dark and light abilities if you choose the other faction's version of your combat style. Obviously, you shouldn't get double of the same ability, but to be able to mix and match animations and stuff to show your neutral alignment in the force would be cool
I actually thought it was something like that and thought it would be really cool ! But it's not, and now I'm disappointed. Hope SWTOR will have a ton of feedback about this, so they could make it, because it would be awesome
That combat style lock when your sub lapses is going to confuse a lot of players and cause problems for their support team. I think they should give you a one-time choice after a sub expires on your first login instead of just locking you into the one that happened to be active when you logged out while subbed.

I've already been asking how gear, and drops, and storage will all work with this new system, and it's been elegantly unaddressed somehow. I love this game I really do, but the expansion delay has irritated the hell out of me , I subbed till Feb 10th to get some game time into the new expansion I even took vacation time from work for a week next week on top of my holiday time off so I would have a good two weeks off for this expansion having to delay the expansion one week before it drops is something I would expect from EA to me it is a way for those who subbed to pay more money later on for this expansion, Its just how i feel and its got me a little upset over the whole thing. You do great work BTW and thanks for keeping us all updated .
The one bit of preparation I can think of is acquiring a second set of gear for your toons if their new combat style requires or could benefit. Marauders may think that they are tanks, but if their second style is jugg immortal, they may want real tank gear :)
I want a jedi knight and turn into a sith asassasin with all the cool lightning abilities also knight has the coolest animations along with lightning yes plz
Its so awesome, I never play SAGE or sorcerer because its so frustrating to have a jedi or sith that NEVER USE HIS DAMN SABER!!... I will can finally try and have fun with thoose class :D so exciting!
Sad to hear of the delay! But for some that paid for sub for this are now upset with not hearing this sooner rather than one week out! But gives many others time to brainstorm ideas and alts up to date with story!

Sorry, guys. Legacy of the Sith has been pushed back to February. For the preferred/F2P users that were going to subscribe this Christmas, I'd hold off until the 7.0 update launches.
Can you still do the dark v light v achievements? I'm new, I want to be able to make a character that can flip from light to dark without changing my alignment
Hmm... I'm thinking I should take the next several days and power through the main story for the classes that I haven't finished out the first 3 chapters on each server (at least for the characters I'm planning to remake after the expansion launches). Maybe even try to get the Light/Dark achievements that I haven't gotten as well. Basically one server is my Republic one and the other is my Imperial one (though I do have 1 of each of the opposite faction classes one each server just to fill out the Legacy achievements some). So it will be great to immediately have access to the secondary combat style from the get go when I restart most of my characters (I do plan on resubbing when I do this). Now every character is going to have a stealth class as an option for when I just don't feel like fighting my way through open world areas just to get to the story areas... which will probably happen often.
@@CyberJawa1986 It better be. Because I'm lucky I waited to get a subscription until post launch. Lots of guys are already kicking themselves over subbing too early.
Honestly... sounds pretty meh to me for existing characters. I wanted to switch my Juggernaut to the Combat Style of the Guardian just because I like the animations better. However my Juggernaut is Dark 5. So that leaves two solutions: 1. Switch the first combat style by farming 100001 light side alignment points before the expansion goes live. 2. Pick Guardian combat style for Nr. 2. Both options are rubbish. Just playing to purposely farm 100001 points should drive anyone insane. Its fine if it happens while you play but making it your goal with a time limit is just pure grind. Picking Guardian for 2nd combat style while having Juggernaut on 1 gives exactly 0 benefit, It is after all the same class. My Guardian will pick Sentinel as 2nd. (Light 5) My Sorc will pick Assassin as 2nd. (Dark 5) My Sage will pick Shadow as 2nd. (Light 5) My Juggernaut will pick Sentinel as 2nd. (Dark 5) I will leave the 1st combat style alone because fuck farming alignment points.
She does mention it but the Dark and Light is becoming legacy bound, they are changing it to require the Legacy Unlock, so even if a character doesn't have Light 5, as long as your legacy has it you can pick it.
Yeah my sith warrior was dark side, Valkorion happend and i killed everybody in his family was dark side af and after i had killed his entire family i killed him 2 more times. Only killed him 3 times so far. And after that i swaped to the light side. And she's now workin with Jonas Balker from SIS to destroy the empire from within for the republic.
I get the gist of it, but still a little confused about how you change between combat styles. Can you do it on the fly? For instance can I switch between styles while in combat? Is switching between styles limited to a certain number per day? Can I switch back and forth as many times as I want as long as I'm out of combat? Do I have to go to a trainer to switch styles or can I just do it through my character menu?
I think Bioware said before that you can't change them in combat. I think you have to leave your activity first before you can swap. But the advanced classes stay the same as in you can swap when you aren't in combat. Not sure if this helps.
For a solo player who feels like they put thousands of hours into the game, up to the Revan expansion, and took the last 6 years off, coming back to the game now and having your content and videos on the update, whats new etc has been a great help! Have been catching up myself playing through the most recent expansions to get caught up. These videos have been great I appreciate it alot!
so if I’m a gunslinger playing as a power tech will ppl still see gunslinger when they scroll over me? if so won’t that create confusion with identifying enemies in pvp
So, I still need a little clarification. I presently have a Sith corruption sorcerer who has finished the class story and is darkside 4. I have unlocked both light 5 and dark 5. Let’s say I want a primary style of Jedi Sage and a secondary style of Sith Assassin. To my understanding: 1) I need to be at least one point toward light side when I log on. If I am, I get the offer to flip my primary style (Sorcerer) to its light side equivalent (Sage). I accept the offer and become a Sage. 2) Since this character has completed the Inquisitor class storyline and I’m a subscriber, I can immediately choose a secondary combat style. 3) Since I’ve unlocked dark 5 and light 5, that secondary combat style can be of ANY force using style, including Assassin. I select Assassin. 4) I am now a Sage with a secondary combat style of Assassin. Do I have this right? If not, what have I misunderstood? If, instead, I want a primary combat style of Sorcerer and a secondary combat style of Shadow (Jedi Consular), I believe I must do the following: 1) Stay darkside. No flip is offered, and I remain a Sorcerer. 2) I have immediate access to a secondary combat style due to finishing the class storyline and I am a subscriber. 3) I have open access to all Force styles due to having Light 5 and Dark 5, so I’m free to pick the Shadow (Jedi) combat style. 4) I am now a Sorcerer with a secondary style of Shadow. Do I have this one correct? Why or why not?
Since I have subscribed to the game, I can choose both a Jedi & Sith style without switching my alignment, right? If this is true, then I can truly bring forth my Grey Jedi! Jedi Sage W/ Sith Sorcerer Style! YESSS! Prepare for Force Orbs & Lightning! 🤩
Question: I am not a subscriber but I can for example if I play as a Jedi Knight and lean towards the dark side, can I choose the Style of the Sith Inquisitor?
I wonder if they can include lightsaber forms in a future expansion As well as traveling to mandolore during the civil war that made the planet the way it becomes during TCW. We can also go to dathomir like it was just discover by the sith & jedi and there both trying to tame the planet. And we can have naboo it its early colonization days were both sides are attempting to colonize the planet of a resource or something (they could be flashpoint, ops or a expansion story) I dont care i just want these planets in the game
I fully expect that the results of the FF 14 Endwalker release had some serious influence on delaying the update. I will admit some serious annoyance with them tripling down on the "advanced class choice is permanent" policy. They are literally putting in all the systems to completely remove those restrictions for every character with zero extra work. Any news on if the second style will be unlockable for premium accounts? Or does it only work while subscribed with no other unlock options?
So basically tython will be full of lightning wielding jedi now who will probably also be pureblood sith...While the story says: you are a jedi padawan...nice. There is a reason it was handled in an RPG way before...now it'S "eeh- choose whatever you like, game and classes do not realy matter anymore". I don't like that change honestly. Instead of bringing new classes and stories to the game - or better said tell good stories like bioware did with the original game, they are now just swapping everything and saying Good luck - have fun. I can also see this causing bugs. Well played EA. EDIT: also I guess there is some store item that lets you flip your combat style...right?
While I like the fact you can change after you go fully dark which sounds good roleplay wise I dislike that if you have legacy achiv you are bound into choice at character creation basicly making situation like you described. It's ok later in the game especially in kotet and kotfe due to story but not in early chapters of the game.
keep in mind, the game will offer you to change from that Knight into a Jugg as its the mirror class, secondly, through subscription you can pick the Marauder, You would then have one class loadout capable of tanking and damage, and the other being purely a damage class that can vary in how they deal said damage.
I made my Jedi knight a juggernaut and secondary a sage but I’m having second thoughts is it possible if my light side alignment is high enough to switch from juggernaut to guardian
I'm an existing player, I have completed all of the class stories and have light and dark 5 achievements. I have some newer characters that I've created to play around with new options on character customization and particular options I never tried out when playing through - like actually playing dark jedi. So, for these pre-existing characters who are not finished with their class stories, when do they get to pick their second combat style?
Hopefully I get an answer here, but if I buy the Light V and Dark V legacy unlocks with credits or coins will I still get full access to those classes or do you have to do it organically?
It would have been better I think to have been given a choice as a jedi or sith to switch factions when your alignment shifted enough to either dark or light side. I think it's just stupid having Sith dark side force user playing a Jedi and vice versa. Which really has me worried that the Devs haven't a fucking clue about the universe they are creating.
So unless you are subscribed, you can't change your combat style on existing tech-characters? Then how does one unlock the second one? Based on the answer I'll have to decide whether I sub sooner than I planned or delete and remake my existing tech-characters who's Combat Styles I want to change (which are all luckily at best past the Prologue so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal) upon the release of the combat styles.
So I won't be able to make my rey character also be dark rey assassin because they're lightside? Kind of sucks but it does make sense to have alignment but as half of the classes don't have those limitations it feels a bit frustrating as half the classes can start with whatever they want and half can't but at the same time it actually does something with the alignment, I don't know how to feel about it, half of me likes how it does something with alignment but half of me also hates it because half the classes have less options.
I may be dumb as a brick but I actually am confused. I don't have a single character with full dark side, does this mean that I need to make a character, max dark side on that character to be able to make my Jedi Shadow a Juggernaut?
so i just want to clarify, my jedi knight is high level and has not passed chapter 3 band mostly has light points but does have 150 dark side points. so that means when 7.0 update drops ill be able to swap to the opposite fighting style?
thanks but I didnt all understand.. If I already have a SAGE with red dark side bar (only for 5 dark star?), when I first connect I can choose second combat style like Sorcerer? I dont understand the sentence at 9:00
You can flip around into sorcerer, and choose any dark side additional class, or if you don't flip you can keep sage and be any out of 8 classes as second.
Lets say that you already have a made scoundrel. When you reach chapter 3, you can choose ANY of the tech combat styles for your secondary style. Since you've mentioned mixing in agent with your scoundrel. you can choose either operative or sniper. Sadly since you've already chose a scoundrel as a primary before the upcoming expansion, Its gonna stick with you permanently hope it helps!
thanks for this video made my decision won't be rejoining b/c i don't regularly sub, and locking out the combat style behind a paywall is just crap imo sucks b/c the game is fun
Can you do a video about the codex? I know it doesn't matter unless you go for the loremaster achievement but I like to list them by planet and sometimes you can't get them all and it bugs me. Or maybe I'm just wrong about the codex and it's useful or used for something, thanks
QUESTION please, if I create a first combat style SAGE and a second sentinel, I have the character posture and one weapon like a normal SAGE? (I dreamed about a sentinel / shadow that have doble saber and the twice saber that change weapon depending on the skill used (yes like in the.. dark soul star wars that I dont remember the name))... but its a dream, maybe a day? xD
Ok so I'm still a little confused I've been playing for a while now and I'm a subscriber when 7.0 drops I want to create a character who starts as a jedi knight guardian but as the story progresses turns to the darkside and wields two lightsaber can I do that?
to be clear THAT character must have completed THEIR story right? Not just (for example) any smuggler completed their story, so all smugglers can pick a second style? I have usually completed the story only once or twice, the rest I either skip to later (KOTFE etc) stories, or just use my free advanced level tokens to create high level characters. Will those characters that never did chapter 1-3 be able to pick a second combat style so long as I have ever completed that class story on another character?
Honestly, if you stop and think about it for a moment, it doesn't really make sense to swap there combat styles from a story/class perspective. Because each starting class was written to be in tandem with two specific advanced class. I don't know, I guess time will tell. The idea of going dark/light combat is cool, like going from a Jedi consular sage to a sith sorcerer. But going from a caster based starting class to a melee based combat style will seem odd to me.
Was so hyped for all this. For months now. And now I've heard "Subscribtion" and stopped listening altogether. Ah well. I'd really love to see a system more close to kotor games. Maybe more akin to BDO's awakening system or GW2 weapons. As in, including both force and tech, and being able to switch. Then I'd sub, at least for a while.
Yeah, it’s disappointing to hear that you have to be subscribed to combat styles. I only subbed to play it now not wait til February. I won’t be subbing again.
@swtorista so if we create a force char before 7.0 release and legacy already has completed origin stories on another char of same class, but we are let's say at chapter 1 with the newer char, can we choose second combat style immediately upon first login or do we need to wait for completing chapter 3 for that newer char ?
I'm a bit confused: So if you have unlocked the DS/LS V achivement, can you switch an EXISTING force-character's class who has not finished chapter 3 to any other force class of the opposite side right away or do you still have to complete chapter 3?
The missed the mark here I think the changes are good but would of been amazing for say like an assassin or shadow to be able to use dual sabers! Have the same abilities but made the animations new for them like using same ability from shadow but have it with dual sabers or a single saber and you just got a new animation with it but still same ability ! Also the GCD should of been sped up combat overhaul would of brought back players and new players !
Expansion being moved to February is a bummer. They hype you telling of when it will be released then when it's coming near, they suddenly move it to a few more months. What is this? Blizzard?
So if have a character that haven't finish the origin story (prlogue, 1,2 and 3 chapter) when the expansión comes i won't be able to pick or changes to a secondary combate style? 🤔
Kind of makes sense, gives much better reward for finishing story and reflects the choices you make (going dark as jedi or fully light as sith). What doesn't make sense is what happens if you have achivs for light and dark 5 being able to start as lightning flinging padawan seems ridicolous and really bad for immersion in a game thats very story driven.

Thanks so much for making this in depth video! It's greatly appreciated! My favorite source for all things SWTOR!! :)
The one bit of preparation I can think of is acquiring a second set of gear for your toons if their new combat style requires or could benefit. Marauders may think that they are tanks, but if their second style is jugg immortal, they may want real tank gear :)
This is so cool because basically now you have the option to turn a light sided Jedi Guardian to a Sith Marauder, a.k.a. The Darth Vader story.
I want a jedi knight and turn into a sith asassasin with all the cool lightning abilities also knight has the coolest animations along with lightning yes plz
So to put things in a nutshell. All a combat style is a 2nd load out. Its not a combo of abilities or classes. It's literally just a 2nd loadout
Thanks for the effort in explaining all that for us, nice work!
I've leveled up all my classes to max, got some fancy outfits for them and plan re do all the story with the style changing.
Swtorista is Awesome :D
Its so awesome, I never play SAGE or sorcerer because its so frustrating to have a jedi or sith that NEVER USE HIS DAMN SABER!!... I will can finally try and have fun with thoose class :D so exciting!
Sad to hear of the delay! But for some that paid for sub for this are now upset with not hearing this sooner rather than one week out! But gives many others time to brainstorm ideas and alts up to date with story!
Yeah, I am one of those that subbed. I’ll probably not re sub for the update.
RIP everyone who already bought subscription to get head start on the expansion
oh no!! we lost like 12 euros, !! which is less than 50 cent per day! I am financially destroyed!!!
(RIP lol?)
Every dollar spent, or euro if you wish, matters to many people.
I would not have resubbed had I known I will need to do so again in two months.
@@sintenal4078 I know that for some people 12 euros is a lot of money !but RIP is a very heavy word ! I dunno, if you are financially destroyed if you spend/lose 12 euros ! You should probably don’t be in swtor but focus on get a job !

Ps. I am not saying that you specifically belong in this category!
Sorry, guys. Legacy of the Sith has been pushed back to February. For the preferred/F2P users that were going to subscribe this Christmas, I'd hold off until the 7.0 update launches.
WTF I thought you were trolling!
OMG
I like the approach to combat styles. Now I can have only 8 characters to have all classes and I can change my tanks easily.
I'm really looking forward to making a Consular with the Guardian style based on Loden Greatstorm from the High Republic.
You'll have to wait until February, then. Legacy of the Sith just got delayed.
@@sambridgers9543 If it means that they will be able to iron out kinks and such, then I am ok with that.
@@moviemaniacdjp I hope so. I heard a lot of grumbling with 7.0 gear from beta testers.
@@sambridgers9543 I’m hoping the delay means really addressing the comments from Beta
So that leaves two solutions:
(Light 5)
My Sorc will pick Assassin as 2nd. (Dark 5)
My Sage will pick Shadow as 2nd. (Light 5)
My Juggernaut will pick Sentinel as 2nd. (Dark 5)
I will leave the 1st combat style alone because fuck farming alignment points.
She does mention it but the Dark and Light is becoming legacy bound, they are changing it to require the Legacy Unlock, so even if a character doesn't have Light 5, as long as your legacy has it you can pick it.
in case you didnt see, the thing got delayed until Feb 15, so youd have about 2 months, if that changes things!
New release date : February 15 2022 :(
Honestly, the fact they need this much clarification around PERMANENT choices for a character, shows the system is flawed.
I imagine it's like field respeccing with the added restriction that you cant do it in instanced content.
If def wouldn't be in combat. Probably will be able to change from Ship or resting area. Seems to me like a spec change, similar to WoW
Just read the news that expansion is delayed till February...
honestly, i just want the jedi kick interrupt on my sith juggy, so i can feel cool like Malgus did in the 3rd cinematic, he had good kicks
Gonna have to set up a force user before the expansion!! I really went to do a sith warrior who rises to the light side
Cheers and welcome back!!!
Thank you for the explanation
The update has been delayed to the 15th feb
Love this infomation also can I say nice thumbnail and you always have great content
Cheers!!
so if I’m a gunslinger playing as a power tech will ppl still see gunslinger when they scroll over me? if so won’t that create confusion with identifying enemies in pvp
So, I still need a little clarification.
I presently have a Sith corruption sorcerer who has finished the class story and is darkside 4. I have unlocked both light 5 and dark 5.
Let’s say I want a primary style of Jedi Sage and a secondary style of Sith Assassin.
To my understanding:
1) I need to be at least one point toward light side when I log on.
If, instead, I want a primary combat style of Sorcerer and a secondary combat style of Shadow (Jedi Consular), I believe I must do the following:
1) Stay darkside.
I love these examples. Thanks so much!
11:11 omg lol leaping lizards!
dude, I am right there with you!
Will you be able to play as a trooper for the empire?
No. But you could be an Imperil Bounty Hunter an pick Vanguard or Commando as your combat style.
I plan on flipping my Sage to a Lightning Sorc. She's full on D5. :D
This is so convoluted... Note: How does the straight to 70 token will work?
It stays the same as it is now. It only goes up to kotfe or onslaught
Question: I am not a subscriber but I can for example if I play as a Jedi Knight and lean towards the dark side, can I choose the Style of the Sith Inquisitor?
I wonder if they can include lightsaber forms in a future expansion
As well as traveling to mandolore during the civil war that made the planet the way it becomes during TCW.
We can also go to dathomir like it was just discover by the sith & jedi and there both trying to tame the planet.
And we can have naboo it its early colonization days were both sides are attempting to colonize the planet of a resource or something (they could be flashpoint, ops or a expansion story)
I dont care i just want these planets in the game
I fully expect that the results of the FF 14 Endwalker release had some serious influence on delaying the update.
I will admit some serious annoyance with them tripling down on the "advanced class choice is permanent" policy. They are literally putting in all the systems to completely remove those restrictions for every character with zero extra work.
Any news on if the second style will be unlockable for premium accounts? Or does it only work while subscribed with no other unlock options?
Fantastic explanation!
Great explanation! Thanks 😊
@@Elurdin yeah ecactly. Just doesnt make sense roleplaywise.
I'll have my Jedi Knight's second style be Marauder since I completed the class story and have the dark 5 achievement
keep in mind, the game will offer you to change from that Knight into a Jugg as its the mirror class, secondly, through subscription you can pick the Marauder, You would then have one class loadout capable of tanking and damage, and the other being purely a damage class that can vary in how they deal said damage.
So, for these pre-existing characters who are not finished with their class stories, when do they get to pick their second combat style?
so like a jedi knight shadow becomes a jedi knigh assassin when its far into dark side is what your sayings its a bit confusing
Bummer on the not choosing new combat styles with 7.0. That would have revitalized my interest in playing a lot of my dormant characters.
Hopefully I get an answer here, but if I buy the Light V and Dark V legacy unlocks with credits or coins will I still get full access to those classes or do you have to do it organically?
Ah! I think the credits option would work if thats available to you
It would have been better I think to have been given a choice as a jedi or sith to switch factions when your alignment shifted enough to either dark or light side.
Based on the answer I'll have to decide whether I sub sooner than I planned or delete and remake my existing tech-characters who's Combat Styles I want to change (which are all luckily at best past the Prologue so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal) upon the release of the combat styles.
so if I'm jedi knight lights side for my second style can I
be jedi assassin?
So I won't be able to make my rey character also be dark rey assassin because they're lightside? Kind of sucks but it does make sense to have alignment but as half of the classes don't have those limitations it feels a bit frustrating as half the classes can start with whatever they want and half can't but at the same time it actually does something with the alignment, I don't know how to feel about it, half of me likes how it does something with alignment but half of me also hates it because half the classes have less options.
i mean you just have to be subscribed and have dark 5 or light 5 and then you can do exactly what you want
I may be dumb as a brick but I actually am confused. I don't have a single character with full dark side, does this mean that I need to make a character, max dark side on that character to be able to make my Jedi Shadow a Juggernaut?
Can I pick one Light combat Style and one Dark combat style or do the alignments have to match?
so i just want to clarify, my jedi knight is high level and has not passed chapter 3 band mostly has light points but does have 150 dark side points. so that means when 7.0 update drops ill be able to swap to the opposite fighting style?
thanks but I didnt all understand..
How does this work for example, A Scoundrel mixing with Agent.... Still quite confusing
Lets say that you already have a made scoundrel. When you reach chapter 3, you can choose ANY of the tech combat styles for your secondary style. Since you've mentioned mixing in agent with your scoundrel. you can choose either operative or sniper. Sadly since you've already chose a scoundrel as a primary before the upcoming expansion, Its gonna stick with you permanently
hope it helps!
thanks for this video
made my decision
won't be rejoining b/c i don't regularly sub, and locking out the combat style behind a paywall is just crap imo
sucks b/c the game is fun
Can you do a video about the codex? I know it doesn't matter unless you go for the loremaster achievement but I like to list them by planet and sometimes you can't get them all and it bugs me. Or maybe I'm just wrong about the codex and it's useful or used for something, thanks
Good stuff thanks
Wait so I can’t give my sorcerer abilities for juggernauts?
Will those characters that never did chapter 1-3 be able to pick a second combat style so long as I have ever completed that class story on another character?
lol Today, tomorrow, Feb 2022... I will still be here :)
Appreciate your video!
Haha!
when does expac launch? im returning after 3 year break
I won’t be subbing again.
will i be able to play a shadow at the same time as a a sage
@swtorista so if we create a force char before 7.0 release and legacy already has completed origin stories on another char of same class, but we are let's say at chapter 1 with the newer char, can we choose second combat style immediately upon first login or do we need to wait for completing chapter 3 for that newer char ?
I'm a bit confused:
So if you have unlocked the DS/LS V achivement, can you switch an EXISTING force-character's class who has not finished chapter 3 to any other force class of the opposite side right away or do you still have to complete chapter 3?
