2014 - 2020 Chevy Impala No Remote Detected - How to Start With Dead, Bad, Broken Key Fob Chevrolet

- A fast and easy video tutorial on how to start a 2014 - 2020 Chevy Impala with a remote key fob that has a dead battery or is showing the error message "No Remote Detected".
This procedure will only apply to Chevrolet Impalas that have push button start.
According to the Chevy Impala owners manual If the remote key fob battery is weak or there is wireless interference, the DIC may display NO REMOTE DETECTED or PLACE TRANSMITTER IN POCKET TO START when you try to start the Impala. The DIC may also display REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY. To start the vehicle:
1. Open the center console and place the bad or dead remote key fob in the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the front of the Chevy Impala.
2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or N (Neutral), press the brake pedal and press ENGINE START/STOP.
This video will show you how to start a vehicle with the "No remote detected" message on the following Chevrolet Impala models:

Well thank you so much for this. A couple weeks ago my key fob came apart and I had to go online and watch a video how to rebuild it so that I can get my car working again and I would have known this I wouldn't have lost 30 minutes and would have had my lunch and got back to work at a decent time. They should tell customers this every time they buy a vehicle that can do this.

Ok I know this is for the impalas but I have a Chevy Malibu push start ltz and I can unlock and lock the doors but it says key not detected do you think I need a new battery?

On my 2014 Malibu, I replaced the battery then my key got deprogrammed. I have tried this MANY times and it just will not work. Even tried doing the thing where you unlock the door 5 times within 10 seconds then set the key into the transmitter pocket and waited 10 mins for the 'DIC' to say it's recognized or reprogramming the key but nothing works. I've followed the original manual to the tee and am SOL at this point. Any suggestions? I also have 2 key fobs and both have the same failed results.

i have a question. i have a 2017 impala lt with flip key fobs. i am being told by a dealer that they have to use a device to program the 2 new key fobs i purchased. i watched your video and it shows just installing key into the ignition 3 times about 10 minutes and its done. can you confirm this will work or do i really need to pay dealer 170.00

I purchased a new key fob for my 2014 Impala..will my key fob reprogram itself just by putting in the pocket as shown in the center console? Or is there other steps ?

That's an emergency key that can be used to open the drivers door. There is a cap covering the key cylinder that needs to be popped off before you can use it. No - it just reads the key fob
How do you open the doors? I’ve been having some trouble trying to get it to unlock.
if the fob is not working, you should just be able to use the key to unlock the drivers door. If the door lock on the drivers door is not working you may have an issue with the lock itself
@@PYR-Auto I just learned this morning that on the driver side door it’s a cover over the key hole. Remove that and you’ll be able to unlock your door 😮💨

Mine sometimes says that after I start it but it will still start like normal maybe the remote battery’s. Are in early stages of dying
yeah it sounds like the fob battery may dying - I would recommend changing it
I have a 2019 mine said no remote detected and I changed the battery I tried to start but the door locks started unlocking and locking and car kept clicking multiple times until it killed my car battery
It sounds like there may be an issue with the remote fob. One or more of the buttons may be be stuck and that's why it drained the fob battery then when you replaced the fob battery the doors kept locking and unlocking until the car battery died. I would recommend replacing remote.

Not working for my 2020. Changed the key fob and that didn’t help. Could be the battery. Car struggles to start when it sits for only 2-3 days :/
There was corrosion on the battery. Clean it off. Jumped it. Car started up.
I have a 2018. I can start it with the transmitter but my gauges don’t work
That sounds more like an issue with the vehicle itself rather than anything to do with the key fob

What if I did that and its still not coming on at all

It says press break o start but it won't start my phone connects and all light turn. On but he car won't start and the breaks are tight
not sure - it sounds like the vehicle is recognizing the key so there may be deeper issues with the vehicle itself
