Wow thanks for all the views guys!

Never understood why Karl Malone was the "Mailman" when it was Stockton who always delivered to ball to people. And he actually looked like a mailman.
Good point
+Myk Ford maybe it had something to do with a MALone being close to MAIL but that is just a guess
He got the nickname while in college.. but I totally agree should of gave it to John lol
He is called mailman because he delivered what Stockton gave him
good point ..
Stockton is that unassuming guy you play at the YMCA who gets picked last and when the game starts nobody can stop him and he doesn't say a word lol
until he's finished beating your ass, then the look he has on his face right after he wins says it all.
Ryan C he was actually well known for shit talking lol
Lmao
Ryan C silent pro
You were the kid that no one picked cause they knew you blow at life,
Most steals and most assists EVER! He was the Robin Hood of the NBA.
He was the kuruko of the nba
Who was the poor that Stockton assisted? Karl Malone?
tcdahn7 And those records are by a huge margin that likely won’t be broken
Andrey Bofus the poor were the fans? Maybe? Dude was a legend though.
Lol. Love it
we'll never see his like again... Theres a story about him thats just awesome. He was on the dream team, and all the players were on the bus headed back to the hotel. and at a red light, stockton saw his wife and kid at the crosswalk.. so he got off the bus and walked over to them... they walked the streets, and half the people were wearing dream team t shirts.. and no one bothered him or his fam. They had no idea who he was..
he was so underrated, his days were the days of Magic and Jordan in their prime but he was quietly doing amazing
Well to be fair part of the reason no one knew who he was is because he looks like your average dad lol.
hammersbaseball11 yeah exactly
most of europeans are white u stupid fuck:D
Kuroko
Most steals in NBA history, most assists in NBA history. One of the baddest dudes to ever play
The title is accurate. But I'll it more specific. JOHN STOCKTON IS THE EPITOME, THE DEFINITION of being a TRUE PG. I don't care what names you can give. Whether it's Magic 'height advantage' Johnson, Steve 'no defense' Nash or Jason 'no shot' Kidd. When you look at the description of a PG in a basketball dictionary, you look at the description of John Stockton right in yo' face. Mad respect for this man who defied all odds throughout his career in an era where 'Bad Boys' prevail and putting up seeming unbreakable records with no outstanding physical attributes whatsoever. This man is just PLAIN BASKETBALL IQ and GENIUS. Missing 23 games in 19 years? And Jazz reaching the playoffs in all 19? TELL EM'!
+Kang Jie Wong Absolutely right. Payton's sharing his thoughts on him just tells how great Stockton was.
+Kang Jie Wong i agree i love stockton im a lifelong jazz fan best pg of all time
+P Raj He also played for twenty years. Kidd is one of the greatest PGs of all-time, but it's mostly because his rebound, assist and steal numbers were out of this world. He was NOT a terrific shooter. The league average true shooting % for PGs was 52.7% during his career and he shot 50.7%. That's a large difference.
Put it this way: if you play 100 hands of blackjack and win a total of $200, and I play a total of 10 hands and win $100, who had the better outcome?
+P Raj It doesn't matter whether you agree. For his career, he was a below-average efficiency scorer. That means that he produced fewer points per shot than the AVERAGE point guard, much less someone with the 10th best TS% of all-time (Stockton). Stockton was SEVERAL standard deviations better than Kidd at scoring. The fact that you're using FG% like it means something -- that indicates that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the opportunity cost of taking a field goal attempt.
Jason Kidd is in the 2nd tier of great PGs, and it's because he was excellent at everything EXCEPT scoring. He's one of the best rebounding PGs ever.
John Stockton was way better than kidd just look at the assists stats steals stats and 3 point stats and stockton was a 100 times better than kidd. p Raji is a dumbass Nets fan probably man
John deserved a championship more than any other player who didn't win one.
Man, if he and Malone played in another decade...
Jordan stole that lol
No, Charles Barkley deserved one just as much.
Chris Paul too in a modern sense
Nahhh AI did
He's the reason why malone was the 2nd best in scoring
Malone is the reason Jon is 1st in assists
@@straightlead8 in a sense. But if you look at the numbers, Stockton assisted on over 50% of the Jazz's field goals in his years. Over 50%! That's ALL field goals, not just the ones that used an assist. Most of those were to players not named Malone.
Excuse me, but both Malone’s and Stockton’s numbers are due their chemistry together. They are both the reason for both numbers.
You right nigga
Fax
I think Stockton doesn't get as much recognition because he isn't so flashy but he's super effective
I’m sure he gets the recognition he deserves. I recognize his game
Yeah these highlights are whack, but damn effective plays lol
he's a hall of famer dog..
Yes indeed, I agree
So effective he won zero championships
Clean basketball, no useless moves or flashiness, just pure efficiency and getting buckets in the most streamlined way possible, either by passes or direct points.
I have to say is one of the greats. I have never seen a pg take Jordan to the hole multiple times, hit a game winner over Jordan and block Jordan. He could break down any offense in the NBA and dish to the mailman even when they knew it was coming. He could hit the big shot or just did whatever was needed. Not to mention one of the best defensive players in NBA history.
@Domini478 Yes he did, I watched several games where he did. Jordan secretly obsessed over Stockton getting the best of him. He won't say a bad word about him.
Domini478 ua-cam.com/video/q1x5NoEwRcA/v-deo.html drives to the hole past MJ for a game winner.
I think Stockton had underrated quickness.
And handle
Quickest guy im the NBA at the time or top 5.
Never seen anybody put Jordan on skates as bad as Stockton
@Rap Lawyer I don't think you understand what underrated or deceptive means and I've heard that said about black athletes too but ok
Most people assume he wasn’t athletic either. He was pretty athletic but not wow athleticism. He could blow by a lot of good guards
Deceptively athletic and strong (physically and mentally). One of the greatest PGs ever.
The greatest! Next is Nash, no I didn't forget about magic but he was just labeled a pg he never played like a true pg, not to say he wasn't the greatest laker ever because he was sorry Kobe fans
Greatest laker was Wilt Chamberlain
@@nashty1326Nash? hahaha. Kidd was better than him
@@michaelscofield4098 not by a fee thousand in two categories he ain't.
Michael Scofield highly disagree. Nash was much better than Kidd
1:57 i've never seen someone's ankles broken so badly from such a subtle change of directions. I can watch those 2 seconds over and over. Artistry. Pure artistry.
this guy is so underrated and dosent get the recognition he deserves
+Pakistani Gangster This guy is widely acknowledge across all the NBA glories and experts. He has not much media coverage, becaus ehe never sold himself as a product like many others but it is a far different issue then "being underrated". You can hardly get more "unanimous consensus" then the one that Stockton gets. Best PG of all time, he's, relative to its role in the court, the MJ of PGs. Insane game prowess.
Alessandro De pietri oh ok
+Pakistani Gangster yeah, if you know basketball you know hes one of the greatest true pg's ever. If your a sports center basketball fan, probably not so much
+Alessandro De pietri MJ ironically stood in his way of getting rings.
Most people however still would choose Magic....
This dude was a stone cold assassin. "Stockton to Malone!" is one of those legendary sports commentary lines.
The guy just did his job. Every night. I hated the Jazz, but you couldn't argue with this cat's game. No flash, no bullshit, just hit shots when he needed to, made free throws, and distributed the ball. Respect.
His passes were pretty flashy, especially the timing of them.
Matt Moore his passes are a work of art
nigga put some fairy tale music on this 😂
Horrible song choice
+Derrick Wade I liked it,it was kinda fitting.Classic point guard - classic type music
It Conor Mcgregor retirement song
+BALKAN “KM” KING ain't nothing classic about this, it's some last of the Mohicans type shit.
I know huh
I loved those Bulls-Jazz match ups. I was always astonished at Stockton's ball-handling ability and ability to dish assists. Incredibly quick off the dribble too.
Andrew Liebowitz yeah espically when jordan's last 2 rings came against the jazz so yeah great matchups
Man, Stockton was strong. When he had his shoulder on you your in trouble. Even MJ couldnt push him off when he drives.
Jordan was my favorite player as a teen in the 90’s, but man did I raise hell if you tried to diss John Stockton!
1:55 is one of the nastiest shoulder drops I've ever seen
You can see from the perfect spin and the perfect curve in his shots that this guy was something else.
He had the touch and the feel for the ball.
Magic hands.
Grew up watching the Lakers and just remembering how the Stockton, Malone and the Jazz would give them fits. Stockton was such a solid PG and I'm so glad that I was grew up watching one of the golden ages of pro basketball.
I got a conversation for UA-cam nation: Isaiah Thomas or John Stockton? 'Like for Stock and 'Comment' for Thomas
Isaiah Thomas is trash
Matthew Westra still ain’t better than Stockton
Matthew Westra even then John Stockton is one the greatest all around PGs of all time.
Isaiah was a beast but Stockton edges him on basketball IQ
@@Musicizmyremedy Stockton is better at everything except scoring.
The toughest, most consistent, unselfish, win 1st attitude, the definition of the greatest point guard of all time. Period
John Stockton is one of my most Favortie point guards of all time, he was and still is slept on and deserves a ton of more recogniton as one the all time greatest
Growing up in Utah I feel like we were so ungrateful for what he had in Malone and Stockton. I was only an elementary school kid when they were in their prime in the mid-nineties and I think a lot of us would sell our houses for the glory to be brought back. There is something to be said for chemistry and stability on a team.
I feel you man I wish we could go back to these days when these players would stay around their entire career where you could actually build a team that would stay... Unlike when we had one of the best teams that we had built for years in the west 2007-2010 then it was ripped away from us in a matter of like a month I was heartbroken when we lost that entire team... We were about to reach the point of a shot at another NBA title... Lets hope from 2016-2020 we can keep this team and have another good run.
I actually attend High School with his youngest son. Pretty cool.
Two unbreakable records by the unbreakable man. And still underrated. PGs shooting so much these days is why defenses get away with being so lazy. If Stockton appeared now, he'd look like the goat
2:50 shows you how good he was. Sneaks the ball up over Hakeem. No small task.
that and he switched to the left doing it. stockton was unreal.
Ever since the Rockets changed their uniform to that silly one with the cartoon-ish rocket, they were never the same. As much as it hurt, Stockton killed us in in Game 6 in 1997 but I have to admit, he did it with excellence. He is definitely one of the NBA's all time greatest players.
I have slept on Stockton my whole life, why am I just now understanding his greatness
I hate myself
Probably not a popular opinion but, John is not only the best PG, but the best player of all time. His stats are ridiculous. He could score almost at will and made everyone around him better. His all-time assists and steals records will most likely never be broken. He was the most fundamentally sound player to ever step on a court.
Totally agree couldnt have said it better myself
No f***ing question
Unfortunately getting beat by jordan in the finals won't help that argument.
David Hert imagine Stockton on a Popovich team with Tim Duncan in his prime.
David Hert Magic, Stockton, Chris Paul. Three best PG of all-time. Best player of all-time is Dennis Rodman. Look up "The Case for Dennis Rodman" and read the essay. The guy defied the laws of nature with his rebounding.
Kids today have no idea what basketball is all about. Stockton would show them. At 50 years old he could still play in the NBA.. because his game isn't about just being athletic like the Derrick Roses, and CP3s.... who just barrel into the lane as fast as they can, and go one on one. In every single game that Stockton ever played, he was the best shooter, best passer, and smartest player on the court.
cp3 best represents stockton. assists and steals is what they both cared about after winning or trying to
John Stockton was an absolute beast on the court, he does not get the recognition he deserves, their is a reason why the mailman has so many points in his career.
Fundamentals, basketball IQ, floor awareness, seeing passing lanes (on offense and defense), toughness... Stockton had the best of all of these. Truly one of the greatest ever, and still my favorite player of all time. Legend.
1:56 is one of my favorite basketball moves of all time. What a master of deception. That one little tweak totally broke that dude.
I'm going to be real with you... Ervin Magic Johnson was the best athlete at the point guard ever. But when you look up point guard... there will be a picture of Stockton and he will be passing the ball. He's the best.
Zack Rouse they say magic is best because of 5 rings they always over emphasize rings there are a few power forwards who have better stats than tim duncan but he has 5 rings and that takes over everything in their eyes
why you want to know? Agree, Horry have 7rings, but everyone would agree that kg is better. Russell had 11, but that doesn't made him better than Wilt.
Zack Rouse
If Magic Johnson played longer not due to the early retirement with announcing HIV...who do you think would be the all time record for assists if that weren't the case? I don't know if you know anything about NFL, but this reminds me of Emmitt Smith being better than Barry Sanders because Emmitt broke the record and Barry didn't...when Sanders was ahead of Smith and retired early and would have been owned the record and ahead of his competition.
Zack Rouse And the all-time leader in steals too ;)
athlete at point guard? No way id say westbrook or rose at athleticism
Every now and then I need to pop in sim Stockton highlights and be reminded just how legendary he really is.
While MJ was the fiercest competitor of all time, Stockton was the most mentally sound player the NBA has ever seen.
I think they were equal in both departments. MJ was the better athlete, and he had that step on your throat mentality, Stockton had the consistent I'm still here attitude. Props to 2 great all time players.
Never thought of it that way and can't say I disagree.
smith lovy or LeBron
smith lovy melanin doesn’t give you Powers dummy
john stockton was cold as fuck
Him and the Mailman deserved a championship together
In 1990 John Stockton averaged 14.5 assists per game and 17.2 ppg which translate into a game average of 47 combined points, that's better than anything Michael Jordan reached and 5 points short of Wilt Chamberlain's 50 ppg and 1 ast total.
Hoang Nguyen Stockton put up these numbers while playing less minutes than Jordan and a lot less minutes than Chamberlain.
In these minutes on the floor, Stockton also had the ball 19% of the time, compared to Jordan's close to 35% of the time. I don't know about Chamberlain because they didn't keep records, but I wouldn't be surprised if more than 50% of his team plays were through him. You do the math who is more effective.
Not even counting Jordan's two weak last years with the Wizards, Stockton still has a higher Offensive Rating AND a higher Defensive Rating than Jordan.
Damn thats intense! And Stockton played his position to the text book aswell, true legend of basketball.
Ah okay. So Jordan's assist's don't count then. Why the fuck would you even compare Stockton to Jordan? Are you telling us he was better than him? Great analysis...
Jonathan Hunt Yes, Jordan had one or two seasons where he got close to Stockton or beat him by an inch even, but Stockton had a large number of such seasons and overall Stockton is just better both offensively and defensively and most importantly, he is much more efficient. So if you factor in efficiency too, Jordan never was better than Stockton.
Jonathan Hunt greatest in your mind maybe
Stockton was always my favorite player up until the day he retired. I was only 3 when he started in the NBA in 1984. In the early to mid 90's I started getting into basketball and the closest team to me was the Bullets, I mean err Wizards. They were horrible every year and still are. So my favorite team was the Jazz. I liked that after most players in the NBA went with longer shorts, Stockton stayed with the short shorts, lol.
Legend! One of the Best ever World Wide, the NBA/Basketball Fans love him!
John Stockton is the definition of a Point Guard.
This is a great compilation. Coupled with one of the greatest movie soundtracks, Last of the Mohicans. Great choice, and thank you to whoever made this video!
That shot against the Rockets is what turned me into a die hard fan of Stockton, The Jazz, and basketball in general when I was a kid.

It just dawned on me that this music is absolutely perfect and sync's seamlessly to the highlights. The Great Mr. John Houston Stockton is indeed "The Last (of the old school ballers)" so I definitely see why this track is so spot-on.
Tireless work ethic, impeccable intelligence and vision, great technique and athleticism, and most importantly, zero ego and selfishness. He knew exactly when to go for the basket himself and when to pass. My favourite basketball player of all time.
Best point guard of all time
Magic Johnson
John Stockton
Rondo
Magic Johnson
hold up boi. let not fuxk with magic
Just the opposite. Stockton is one of the most underrated point guards in the game.
He's rated about right: A bum
The opposite of ultimate isn't underrated, the opposite of "the ultimate" would be "the worst". 🤣
I agree in the all time player debate wy is this guy not a top 10 player of all time?
In his prime he used to be guarded and even to guard Michael Jordan, that's how great he was.
This music makes me want to go into battle
me too.....i bite my computer
last of the mohicans
I get a, fight to the bitter end kind of feeling.
was it just me or could mj not guard him at all.
Player Efficiency Rating in the 1991-92 season: John Stockton = 22.8, Isiah Thomas = 16.0
They chose the right PG for the Dream Team, especially if the All-NBA Team selections for the first three years of the 90s are taken into account.
10 time all star, leading assist in history, precision passer, precision shooter. Never sleep on Stockton.
Amazing player, simple and effective with a great heart. And yes, i think he deserved a ring. I'm a Lakers Fun.
I have mad respect for stockton, but man did I hate seeing him tear up my spurs!
He's one of the players that makes me wish I was alive to watch 90s NBA.
John was nice with it, for sure!!!! Much props and resoect to him. One of my fave players of all time.
My favorite player of all time. I lived in SLC area at the time and saw John and Karl play many times.
Stock was one quick little motha wasn't he?
Man, seeing Jerry Sloan so happy after Stockton hit that three is one of my favorite moments. Almost brings a tear to my eye
Yeah, Coach never really showed emotion, other than anger... But, it was his attitude the team took onto the floor. Determination was what Sloan was all about. A good man, a great coach. May he RIP.
Imagine the chemistry between Malone & Stockton! Superb!
The perfect point guard.
For me, the best ever. So much Basket iq, everything that is asked in that position, creativity, passing, the art of pick and roll, assist, almost no turnovers, steals… The perfect PG is the one that puts the team playing, not the one who has to put the team playing for himself. Stockton nailed it all
Greatest PG in the history of the NBA. Stats don’t lie. All time leader in Steals and Assists. Insert biased argument here👇
People forget Stockton used to give the bulls that work
What does "that work" mean?
@@holdingtonfarley4444 a hard time
Stockton is a legend to me and a hero, I watched him play, along with Jordan and a few orther greats. If Lebron or Kobe were on the same court with John in his prime they would not stand a chance. To this date, this is the only player to ever truly challenge Jordan in his prime. I am a fan of both.
the play at 1:55 ... ankle check
Team player defined.
music choice was perfect
this video made me a stockton fan. i love players that play slowly and methodically in every sport. players who take their time on the ball
A magician. And more athletic than given credit for. Look at the fast breaks where he is outrunning the others.
PG - John Stockton
SG - Jerry West
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
C - Bill Walton
Hopefully someone gets it =)
They're all white

+Niczer0 The best possible nba team? Because it is.
Hahah, probably the smartest lineup in NBA history! Add either Rick Barry or Kevin McHale off the bench and you've got a team FOR THE AGES!!!

Best PG of the 90"s.
Luiz Gustavo *All Time*
Luiz Gustavo and Don't tell me Magic Johnson Is Better I Got 1000 Reasons Why Stockton is 💯 percent better Than Magic
john stockton is very humble person yet very hard working...he is the best point guard for me..ill miss johny years hope someday he will coach a team...
"In his first 13 seasons, he missed only four games (all in the 1989-90 season) until he missed the first 18 games of the 1997-98 season due to an injured MCL in his left knee sustained in the preseason. That was the only major injury in his career, and he never missed another game after returning from that injury."
INSANE
Let's all agree John Stockton is the best point guard ever
RKOJ ason03 he is the 2nd best behind Magic
I agree 100%
+Kelly Divine Uncontested first to me.
The best no doubt. Magic couldn't touch him, people just say that magic is better because he has aids
RKOJason03 nah magic is better
John Stockton schooled everybody. Even Michael Jordan!!
I don't get how people always emphasize Stockton just being smart but not athletic - just look at the quickness and speed in a lot of these clips! He may not have been the fastest or quickest but he was up there man.
Trent Diamanti The sudden change of direction and the burst of speed does it for him.
john stockton oh my goodness is my favorite point guard of all time!
thanks for uploading. God bless.
3:26 pure gold
Its too bad they only remember Stockton on his clutch against rockets in 1997 playoffs. I know at least 11 other times he was clutch and its rare to have some this on youtube. I have at least 50 games from Jazz and he was clutch in many other times. And to think this guy was 17-14-3 for a whole season and barely voted for mvp. nash did less with no defense and got 2 awards
+Mr. Entringer You have no idea of what you are talking about sir just shut up and go home you are drunk.
All I put were facts kid. get lost. you post nothing here.
Nash's MVPs are trash. Kobe probably should've won it both times instead of Nash. Lol.
Actually no. Kobe didnt make playoffs and barely made 3rd NBA team in 2005. Shaq on the other hand was #2 in mvp voting behind Nash and put Heat on Conf Finals. But the other MVP maybe. The logic on this award is always how the player impact the team and the wins. Nash`s Suns was always great in regular season.
+Mr. Entringer shaq being 2nd in mvp wit d
wade is trash lls d.wade was the man on that team
Stockton was booed draft night, and became arguably the greatest point guard in the history of the NBA. Inspiring as hell.
My favorite point guard of all time.. I'm a rockets fan. This man will rip your heart out.. Every.Single.Time. When Gary says you're the man.. you are that dude.
Its insane how dangerous he was. The way he weaves through everything and draws every defender and then just effortlessly dumps it off for the assist. He makes it look easy.
I can't remember even one time Stockton got ripped while he was dribbling, such sick handle
That pass vs the Bulls in the Finals at 2:23 is just as good if not better than anything Aaron Rodgers has ever thrown. He put it in a spot even MJ couldn't get to!
Charles Barkley once said, without hesitation, that "John Stockton is one of the five best basketball players to EVER play the game, period." Good enough for me.
im sorry, but what the fuck is this music? Just cause hes white we cant have some poppin' jams?
+Harry D. I liked the music, but damnn was that funny asf haha
This is an Irish song, and well Stockton is from Irish descent

@@fiatvoluntastua9183I have to agree with you, this music piece is one of my all time favorites and it's so befitting for a man that represents passion, stength, and determination as John Stockton did. One of the many characteristics of why so many elite players respect John. Myself, I like all genres of music and this piece fits John to a T. This piece is a part of the movie "The Last of the Mohicans" in the end of the movie where the fight that was taken to the enemy which was the most glorious part of the movie. stockton, jordan, bird, duncan, chamberlain.
Clutch? 3 pt? Heart? Defense? High IQ? Durability? You can't argue with this team. Best in their positions. Best Team. This is my Rushmore.
For years debated on malone/hakeem/duncan as pf, stockton/magic as pg, and lebron/bird. After the last championship duncan became my pf and bird my sf. As far as pg... Magic was one of the greatest players all round, but stockton was better at just being a point guard.
