    Thank you for the very helpful information on the wood stove. I am a Gramma building a small log cabin in the Adirondacks and learning as much as I can. All i need now is another very lovely barefoot granddaughter like Kiera to come visit me. Great job Kiera!

    Thank you sir for making this! I got one of these gifted to me and after 800 doll hairs got it looking brandy new. Wasn't sure about the catalytic thing. I did download the manual but it was so many words... so i decided to cruise the tube and this was most definitely the best video I watched

    How long will the stove burn for? What size area are you heating? Cute little stove, thinking it might be great for a small hunting cabin. Thanks

    Can I ask how many square feet does it heat and how much? Thank you for sharing. It is a pretty stove. Enjoy!

    Hey, I just bought the same stove and I was wondering if you could help me with some thing. Is there a gap where the left panel meets the front panel? So like if you’re standing, looking at the stove on the left side corner towards yourself. If you look at the side of the stove, do you see a gap between the front panel that the doors are attached to, and that side. It would not be the way on the other side. I’m just wondering if mine got altered or moved or if that’s actually part of the ventilation system because I have air that goes in that area on mine.

      I don’t have any opening anywhere so I think there’s something wrong with yours. Sorry. Just seeing this now. Hope you got the issue resolved

    Installed my intrepid waiting on cold now ,so basically stove once it gets past 500 degrees close damper ( chimney) which will force hot heat air flow thru catalyst converter ? Am I right?

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  Рік тому

      No, after the stove reaches 500 degrees you turn the diverter switch on the right side. That diverts the exhaust through the cat. The damper controls the air flow into the stove. That should be fully open when you start and then turned down once you have a steady burn or if the stove gets too hot. You’ll damage your catalyst if you let it get too hot.

    Do you think this will work well for a 1350 square-foot house

    Is that a downdraft design? I just got the dauntless and have had a lot of trouble with it. Backpuffing has been an issue

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  Рік тому

      I’m not sure what you mean by downdraft design. All stoves need to draft combustion gases up the vent pipe outdoors. If you are getting Poot draft and you have a catalyst I suggest cleaning the catalyst as a lot of fly ash will build up on the catalyst and reduce your draft.

    I've never used a top loader, is it hotter to add wood through the top than via a front door?

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  2 роки тому +3

      I prefer the top loader so I don't have to worry about ashes falling out when I open the door. Just be sure to open the diverter before you open the top. Otherwise, smoke will pour out into your room.

    Great video! Does it heat your house well?

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  2 роки тому

      Yes, our house is only about 1,400sf, but this stove does the job.

    And how long of a night burn can you get?

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  2 роки тому

      I don't think it burns for more than 4-5 hours honestly.

      @@patrickearle1973 but doesn't the cast iron stay warm longer?

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  Рік тому

      @@MarySmith-ry9cu No, cast iron heats up faster. Soapstone stoves have more of a thermal mass so they’ll store a lot of heat in them. It’s a small stove so it’s hard to load up with a lot of wood for overnight. You can try closing down the damper ti get a longer burn but with less oxygen the fire is less efficient and will produce more creosote and smoke.

      @@patrickearle1973 thank you. What is soap stone? Is that what is inside the cast iron stove?

    • @erictheguy6646
      @erictheguy6646 Рік тому

      @@MarySmith-ry9cu soap stone is a completely different material cast iron is metal soap stone is in fact a stone. They make stoves out of it they are expensive but they hold heat for a very long time

    The ink in the newspaper destroys your catalyst.

    • @maryfrederickson9400
      @maryfrederickson9400 3 роки тому +1

      The catalyst was off during burning of newspaper.

    • @patrickearle1973
      @patrickearle1973  2 роки тому

      I didn't know that. I would think that the ink in the newspaper is long gone before the exhaust gases are diverted through the catalyst.
