Wow i found this lesson so helpful! I’m just now at 27 in the pacific north west, starting to flesh out my wardrobe- and more specifically try not to freeze with the imminent snow storm tomorrow... and so I was at Eddie Bauer trying on parkas, when I wondered if anyone smarter and more dedicated has figured this all out and made a UA-cam video! Here you are and here’s my subscription. Thank you! I like your direct and lay mans approach to video lessons. Continue to make more please!

Dude! Great review, the hand warmers are a must, & difficult to find in the right position though. I live up in Canada and we have a Canadian designed and made brand called Quartz & Co, that can easily go head to head with Canada Goose on some models, with the added bonus that they do go on sale, unlike the Canada Goose, which rarely do, Cheers!

Fine video. Both my husband and I agree with the other comments, your wife is just adorable. Good information on parkas. Even though it normally isn’t just very cold here we both have them for when the temps get on the lower side. Plus where we live it not being as cold you don’t get the acclimation to the cold so it just feels cooler to us than someone from another place might feel. We both liked and got the Baxter State Parka but as you note personal taste is a huge factor. A big selling point with us was the abundance of pockets. We did check out others like the North Face Gotham and McMurdo also and those looked and sounded like fine parkas as well.

Great video. I have been having trouble finding a parka lately. There is always one or two features that annoys me. I like real snap buttons, rather than velcro or magnetic. The other is the pockets, same as you explained or it closes with velcro which makes them annoying to use. I just hate velcro lol

I never liked the the wafer style Coates popular today ya know the small ridg baffle jacket. I like the Columbia parka coat with a removable hood and I sew in a hoodie hood myself to use as a light cool day hood and I usually sew in other interior pockets with old t-shirts to use for other items. I'm a wizard with a needle and thread. I think about how I can usr extra pockets in what I wear. I do the same with my zippered hoodies fleece jackets and flannel shirts.

I had a McMurdo MkI jacket and I was *so* disappointed with it - I took it to Iceland, layered properly and I FROZE, it just wasn't warm enough for me. I know that YMMV, but the lack of an internal cuff and the issue you pointed out with the wind around the snorkel meant I got super cold super fast. I ended up spending a lot more cash and bought a local jacket and it's kept me warm, even with last year's 'bomb cyclone' in the US where I was out in temps lower than -20C.

Hello you love birds! Great review, and your model is cute as a button. I got the North Face Cryos Gtx Expedition Womens Parka...a veritable cocoon of warmth and coziness. As much as I love the Canada Goose jackets, I wanted something with superior Goose down fill power (800 fp)and No Fur! Plus those hand warmer pockets are a dream! Word of caution, the size finder on the North Face website recommended an XL. When it arrived, it fit like a tent, I could fit almost 2 of me. Otherwise, the jacket is everything I wished for, other than the boring colour selection, Light grey or black, the colour of your parka though is stunning ;) Cheers from Canada Ps. After two years of wearing the Cryos, an update, it is incredibly warm in the body, but my upper arms always get cold. Also, it is incredibly heavy, something I noticed only after I had something to compare it to, like a Quartz & Co parka.
