This was my dream bike when I started riding in 2012, purchased a 2023 in green last year. It's absolutely incredible. It is so torquey, all low down with peak at 4.5-5.5 and just makes street riding so much fun. Also, your model with the cowl has the clip ons much lower than the standard clip on without fairing and is much more comfortable. It is definitely a very heavy bike, so much harder to push around compared to my MT10. But the weight is centered and low so if inspires so much confidence when leaning over doing sporty riding, feels much more stable than my MT10. Even during high windy days its very stable. I actually find the seat very comfortable, no issues for me. Have gone out on 4 hour rides going through NYC to open highways and was fine until I got home, then started feeling the fatigue in upper body. Can't believe they discontinued it. The only real annoying thing is the kickstand is so heavy and it hurts when you bang leg into it
I've owned my Thruxton R since June 2016 so one the longest owners of this family. Of course the stock clip-ons work with fairing and makes it more comfortable. I also have a Corbin seat for all day rides. The engine will easily pull much higher gearing than the stock 16/42 sprockets. I've run as high as 18/40 for land speed racing and use 17/40 for daily riding. Once you remove throttle body restrictions and change the mufflers you can go from 131 mph to 151 mph (with fairing). The quarter mile from 12.0 to 11.6. I have vids with top speeds and quarter mile runs as well a few other changes. It helps to move your feet to the rear foot pegs on the open highway . About 50 quarter mile runs and 20 top speed runs at Bonneville Salt Flats with no issues. I'm 71....so I'm good for five hour rides.
I have a 2022 and took it on track a few times (loved it) and rode several two hundredish mile trips...all good. Love the bike and highly under-rated but wish it has tubeless wheels!
The Thruxton comes from factory with higher clip ons. Those are the low clip ons that come with the fairing kit (not required for fitting). I run mine with the high clip ons because I can get more out of it commuting.
I'm a short, portly fellow who can rest on the tank and feel hardly any wrist stress, and my favourite bike is my 2017 1200r. Immaculate, cowled gun metal grey, and i threw it on the dyno to clean up the rev range. You need to sort out the wrinkles of the emissions tuning, but when you do, it's the best fun road and city hopper you can have. 110 horse and 98 lb of torque all on tap at 4500rpm. Very few engines as much fun as this on the road. Sheer unadulterated joy.
Chase, I own one of these and you can absolutely scratch on it in the twisties. Keeps up with dedicated sports bike but it rewards you more because you put in the work.
I love my 2020 RS. I got it exactly a year ago with 4,800 miles on it and have doubled it in the time I’ve had it. I agree that it kinda feels unwieldy at times, but god damn do I love it. I take it out any and every chance I get.
This was my bike that I recently traded in... I miss the sound every day. This video makes me want to go and buy it back. I put those 5k miles on it in a year. ( Also should be noted that that exhaust is aftermarket, stock it sounds like a sewing machine)
I've got the 22 Thruxton Ton Up Special Edition. Absolutely love it and it's a 3rd bike for me. Having the 1200RR and Street Triple Moto2 like your buddy has and you did the SC full exhaust. Which sound so bad ass! I want one😂 Getting back to the Thruxton. I have a DNK tune and Arrow Exhaust. It's so sweet. Definitely have this bike as a 2nd+ bike.
Just picked up a 2025 Thruxton Final Edition. Haven't ridden it yet due to snow/salt on the roads, will have to wait until Spring but this review popped up at the right time. I was a little nervous what you were going to say as I remember your R nineT review that I disagree with (I have a '21 R nineT, great bike). Glad to see you enjoyed the Thruxton though!
I have a 2022 Thruxton RS, when I put the Fairing on I left the original raised clip ons as the ones that come with the fairing were to low, it seems your bike had the low ones. That makes the position much more bearable. That said, great review and I completely agree with your review. Its an amazing bike, but best for the weekend ride. I have a Trident 660 and a vespa which I can use for daily use when I need it. Best regards!!
You can get awesome deals on them as well as make a couple changes that make it super enjoyable. Use the higher clip ons if you have the fairing, and get the comfort seat. My 2020 came with all of it for 10.5k and 700miles. Its my 3rd bike but i end up riding it the most.
Plot twist: Triumph discontinues the beautiful; Thruxton RS with its beautiful twin clocks, and replaces it with with the 2025 Speed Twin 1200 RS with a single offset cheap looking digital clock.
This is ma dream bike, sadly it got discontinued since, myself to young & cashless to get it right now and it comes around 26 lakhs in India which is insane‼️💎 we rarely have this in second hand market in india🇮🇳😭 Also the Royal Enfield market is horrendous, people tends to see this as a RE650
I’ve got the Royal Enfield version of this, an obvious rip off, the Continental GT 650 is really great without the bigger engine and price tag. Agree it falls into the second bike category although the GT is my only bike right now. I would probably go after the new Speed Twin RS as my second bike these days. Similar to the Thruxton, the Royal Enfield hurts my back and is not an all day bike - but dang does it look good!
The name sounds violent and it looks like a bullet I love it. Why would I buy an Aston Martine if this was available. Hey, maybe the position is terrible for you because you are too tall, also seriously Chase you need to start doing deadlifts.
I used to own one. Unfortunately I was so disappointed by the lack of character when riding it. The most gorgeous bike I’ll probably ever own but I just found the motor and handling leaving much to be desired.
Why drive a bike when you are bitching about the wind go in a car. Bike riding is about the wind sound and feal of the roud. I drive in the wind for 33years and never a problem.

I kept the higher clips-ons on as well.
Same. I put the fairing on but kept the bars higher. Looks great feels great.
Triumph's 1200cc engine is one of the most torquey and characterful parallel twins available!
OC: i freaking love the way it looks. Also the gauge cluster and upper triple almost looks like it's smiling at you
Was not expecting this but now I'm excited

I've just bought a Thruxton R 2016. Such an amazing bike!
I have a 2023 Trux RS that i put a handlebar upgrade, took off the clip-ons off. So much more comfortable and still looks great.
Interference with the windscreen fairing? … thinking about modifying my STR by putting the thrux RS or the speed RR front fairing on it.
Nah it looks off with handlebars
What’s the point buy any other bike available a cafe racer needs Clip ons
Taking clips ons off this bike is quite frankly moronic sir.
Got a picture of your bike?
An absolutely gorgeous motorcycle! Thanks for doing this video, Chase! 305 love brother!
I couldn't disagree more. That's one ugly bike.

what a great looking bike
This dude chase can convince me to buy anything😂😂 awesome video man
been waiting for this one!
All the triumph 1200s are fantastic. I have 2.

Man I love triumphs.
Thruxton R is on my list.❤❤❤❤

Bike has aftermarket exhaust which is why it sounds good
Feels like 120hp ✊🔥
Great review you buy this bike with your heart not your head 🇬🇧
I hope you get to try the speed twin RS with the clip ons and compare it to this
Plot twist: Triumph discontinues the beautiful; Thruxton RS with its beautiful twin clocks, and replaces it with with the 2025 Speed Twin 1200 RS with a single offset cheap looking digital clock.
Can you do a new zx6r for a first ride?
You should park the bike in the sun instead of the shade so we can see it better.
Mean machine✊🔥

I have an ‘04 Thruxton 900 with the clip-ons. I’m 52. The novelty is wearing thin. I’m guessing this bike would be be much better?
Love Triumph but not to into the retro bike craze. I do like the sweeped backed front fairing.
Hey chase, for a future review, could you make a video on the NC750x?
Whats the other 2 for the top 3?
5:10 video begins
What’s your primary bike choice if this is the 2nd bike?
Nice 👍
The better ergonomic Speed Twin killed Thruxton sales.

this is the bike i learned to ride on because its the bike my dad had when i was learning. Now i have an r3, downgrade lol
the new speed twin 1200rs 2025 is the best for all day ride !!
Remove front fairing and it would be a stunning bike
Was my dream bike until I swang my leg over it. Felt like a bicycle. (6'3)
The bike would look tiny under you. A guy i know who's at least as tall as you bought a StreetvTwin 900 and like the Thruxton was tiny.
@TriumphLover it felt like it was tiny. Was a yuge disappointment. #2 on the list was the r9t racer. But heard it was a lower back killer.
I'm 6'3"and have one. Funny how that works. I love it
The name sounds violent and it looks like a bullet I love it. Why would I buy an Aston Martine if this was available. Hey, maybe the position is terrible for you because you are too tall, also seriously Chase you need to start doing deadlifts.
or buy a Speed Twin 1200. Still pretty but you can ride it all day long :)
I was more inspired by street twins 1200 than this bike looks wise 🤷🏻♂️
I used to own one. Unfortunately I was so disappointed by the lack of character when riding it. The most gorgeous bike I’ll probably ever own but I just found the motor and handling leaving much to be desired.

Those are the WORST bar end mirrors...
