It seems like alot of these pro reviewers are very ignorant on what the Dakar Rally Event is in real life. Challenging navigation and long stages are a key part of the experience.
I mean the game is very mixed on steam. I'm not sure whether I should buy it or not. Seems like there is a lot of bugs like the AI team mate telling to turn left when your meant to go straight forward also not much support for wheel support. At least this is what I got from steam and reddit reviews...

Hoped they would bring something more realistic , till now nothing. And there is no risk to get a puncture. For such challenge rally is kind of a bummer.
Only 2 hours in but absolutely loving this game so far. The shader compilation stutters on PC are a little distracting but nothing to submit a refund over like some suggest. I'm eagerly anticipating patches as I know this game has TONS of potential. So much more fun than Dirt 5.
I'm having a blast. I love dirt rally 2 and the driving feel similar enough. Adding genuine navigation in this is so fun. Im a perfectionist so if i make a wrong turn or hit a rock ill just restart and tbh i have no problem restarting races on this game. The driving is a lot of fun.
I agree. Some of the issues at launch should get fixed in upcoming patches. I also play Horizon 5 and have played Dakar 18. The terrain so far is much more interesting than the rather boring Horizon 5 map.
This is as close to next gen motorstorm as we been.. not amazing but it’s certainly a lot better then I expected especially for $40. It’s got a nice sense of speed, and graphics are certainly above avg unfortunate slowdowns that’ll hopefully get fixed.
This is a highly inaccurate review. Sports mode is the arcade rally cross style racing with checkpoints. But Professional mode does *not* have visible checkpoints nor racing against other players like you show in the video, you're racing against the clock. In Pro mode, you have to use your codriver navigator along with your roadbook and pay total attention or you could get lost. However, it gives you a compass to return to your missed waypoint. But Simulation mode? That's a big challenge. And again, you are *not* racing against other players side by side. If you miss a waypoint, you'll definitely get lost and if you don't retrace your steps carefully, you'll stay lost. This is the most challenging and a race against the clock and takes your total attention or you'll miss crucial waypoints and turns. On bike or quad, even more challenging because you have to look at the book - no codriver! This review unfairly judges the game based on false assumptions.
No TV style race replays after the race.Or at least highlights or the last few minutes from a long stage.ACC and the moto GP and F1 games are fine examples of spectacular TV style replays.
I know right? I'm absolutely pissed off by the fact that I haven't found a track longer than 10 minutes, while with dakar 18 I had 50 minutes races. And this guy comes out saying they're too long, smh
The longer "races" are Pro and Sim modes. They aren't against competitors like Sport mode, but you will see the occasional competitor because you take off at different times. You're all trying to hit the waypoints, not get penalized and make the best times. If you're too slow, you'll see a competitor sneak up from behind. If you're fast, you catch up to the one in front.
There have been times in sport mode for me where frame drops are good. What I mean by that is, I'd rather have the game running at 30 fps than for it to freeze for five seconds at a time, one second apart, constantly. At times, in the game's current state (at least in sport mode), calling it unplayable is not an exaggeration. Edit: I play on the PS5 as well.
@@arnoldp299 as of now, absolutely not. The latest video on my channel is a half hour of footage from the game. It's hard to watch, but it was even harder for me to sit through and play. Give it a watch if you wanna get an idea of what I'm talking about.
@@justinbrown6233 yes I have seen your video, it looks not smooth (60 fps) it often drops, hopefully later there will be a fix patch, I really want to play that game.
Dakar 18 was horrible - less than 5 mins I could stand playing that game, these vehicles drive much more authentically, the Trucks and the little SX buggies being my preferred type to play with.

I don't have issues with vehicle control. The only thing that makes this game truly unplayable as of now is the fact that half of my time spent racing is waiting for the game to make up its mind. It freezes for a matter of entire seconds, with a couple seconds of gameplay in-between each lag spike. I really wanted to love this game, but in its current state, I don't.

There is a bunch wrong with this "review" and it's unfairly judged based on faulty assumptions.

@@bartholomaios5211 I do, man, I do... I liked every nfs up until Pro Street.
